Just beat the 5th gym. I've been getting literally EVERYTHING but the Pokemon in every area (Dowsing Machine is always on, beat every trainer, comb the entire routes for every last detail, talking to everyone in every town and route, visiting all optional spots, etc.), so it's been taking forever.

Play Time: 11:30

-Take Down

-Work Up

-Crunch

Ahh!! You stole my name! Then again, that one was a pretty obvious nick name.

Here's my team, I have 25+ hours in the game so far. (Can't remember exactly.)

Sounds like what I did. And 11:30 isn't that long for the half way mark. My play time at the end was close to 30.

Name Scraggy Jar Jar.

That is an amazing name. Got any good ones for my electric spider. Venom is ok, but I think it could be better.

I'm only at the first town (not the town with the Gym, before that), and I have a level eight Oshawott (nicknamed Daikenki), and nothing more. The Pokemon so far suck, despite Lillipup being ultra-cute.

Tutankoopa

I absolutely love that name.

The music in this game is just pure sex, though. ADHD was right; you can find some people playing the piano and drums north of the first town (after your hometown), and they add piano and drum tracks to the music. This is first generation where the Trainer Battle music is purely sex.

Also, when you get to red HP, that song is also extremely well-orchestrated.

I just beat the game yesterday. My team was around levels 48-52 when I finished.

As of now, my current team is:

Samurott (Hydros)

Excadrill (Monty)

Scrafty (Hoodlum)

Archeops (Terry) - Would like a suggestion for a better name.

Galvantula (Watt) - Same as above.

Haxorus (Dynalfos)

My team is all level 65 except Haxorus who's level 60.

DAMIT FLAME! THIS IS LIKE MY IDEAL TEAM! (aside from the starter, of course)

...Except my current team is just all over the place, and I'm being insta-kill'd trying to level up my NinjaKiteh(Purloin)

I'm just good like that :D

If your having problem leveling Experience Share is the item for you.

Yea, the first few pokemon you see aren't that great. It gets better though.

Yea, the music is AMAZING. The end theme was great.

Oh good, since I just got done luck-sacking beating the 2nd Gym leader.

Which means I just have to make my way to the 3rd gym.

Also, I still find it rather odd how this game gives you the Daycare so early in the game.

And I'm thinking about adding a Scolipede(it wont be evolved yet, obviously) to my team, and naming it 'Dio Brando'.

Mostly because it learns a move called 'Steamroller', and because it would make for a good laugh when you see: "Dio Brando used Steamroller! Its super effective!"

I heard that the music is very well this generation, especially with the last pokemon in a gym battle.

So, just a question, is the storyline long or is it as slow as DPPt?

The story is much better and more coherent. Team Plasma shows up in pretty much every town and reminds you of the plot. The end is really good too, but I won't spoil it.

Well, I'm gonna attempt facing against Skyla/Fuuro at this point, but I think I'll do a lot more training, so I'll make my Hitomoshi at the same level at my other pokemon, and I'll make Jaroda at LV 45 or 44 at least when I battle Skyla. So far, my pokemon can be seen in my sig. But so far as of this post, my pokemon are:

JARODA(Serperior)

LV 42

Slam

Coil

Leaf Blade

Leaf Tornado

ROOPUSHIN(Corkeldorr)

LV 35

Rock Smash

Wake Up Slap

Bulk Up

Rock Slide

DESUKAN (Cofagrigus)

LV 35

Hex

Omnibus Wind

Curse

Night Shade

DABURAN (Duosion)

LV 35

Psychoshock

Hidden Power

Future Sight

Recover

HITOMOSHI (Litwick)

LV 31

Flame Burst

Hex

Will o Wisp

Confuse Ray

Just entered Nimbasa:

Servine - 25

Boldore - 25

Munna - 24

Darumaka - 25

Palpitoad - 25

Tranquill - 24

Sandile - 25

Whirlipede - 25

Blitzle - 23

I rotate my team frequently, meaning I have to spend a lot of time grinding to even out the levels, but in return I have a pretty good type coverage fairly early in the game.

Also, while it's good for somebody who's played Pokemon since Gold, am I the only one that feels like the usual stuff is dealt with stupidly fast? "Here, you just beat a bad guy, so have a Bike, I'm too old for it". "Hey, you're supposed to beat Gym Leaders because... because. Gogogo."

It feels more rushed (not the plot, but these trivialities every single game has), and while it's good for those of us who've been doing it for 4 or 5 generations to be able to skip right to the actual story and action, I'm not so sure it's good for newcomers...

That information isn't really relevant, though. No one, even newcomers, care why you get a Bike, but we are all happy we can travel so much faster.

Also, it's a bit assumed that beating Gyms is literally the only thing to do, unless you want to sulk at home and make food in your mom's basement.

My psychic move just did 0 damage to a fighting type monster. And it won't effect normal types as well. Is anyone else having this trouble, or is my game broken?

Was it this guy?

He's dark

HM slaves are great as a meat shield. I used mine fly slave as that a few times when I had him on my team.

And good luck with the second run.

I have to admit I was a little shocked at the Lv 60+ trainers after the E4. I've ditched Swoobat and added Reshiram to my team. Coz its Dragon/Fire, and I like 'em =D (the stats also mean Extrasensory does more than Psychic from Swoobat), its Relaxed (<3 that it can take a Boldore out without activating Sturdy). Zekrom was disappointingly easy, a few Dragonbreaths and it was gone and I stupidly never activated Fusion Fire. Train it to Lv 60 and continue on with the trainers. Krookodile is Lv 62, took out most of the E4 itself, just needed Hyper Potion once.

Now I know why my friend said there's little point in HM slaves, all I've used really is Surf and Fly (bar the odd Cut)

I do like that if you look at Pokemon stats, it tells you which stats benefit or lose out because of the Nature. Shame you can't see that colouration in battle.

Now I need to start on working on my teams moves more. Esp after I get Earthquake (<3 Earthquake)
