Digimon Battle- Introduction

Digimon Battle- Introduction

The first ever non-fan made Digimon MMORPG, licensed to Wemadegames by Bandai. Its target age group is fans of the original series and children who don't have time to devote to an MMORPG as parents often don't allow extended times online. The next paragraph is a short summary of the game from the official site, which will be linked later in the review.

The major feature in this game is 'Digimon', the character originally created by Bandai Group, one of the most famous Japanese toy companies. Digimon was first created as a TV series by Toei Animation, Japan. Toei Animation is a very well known TV animation production company in Japan, especially known for their Dragon Ball series. All the many Digimon series were shown on network TV and on cable channels as well. Digimon Battle is a game based on the original Digimon animation series and will be very enjoyable for Digimon fans. It will also be an exciting chance to make friends over Internet who share the same admiration for Digimon.

Digimon Battle- My first Foray into the Game

Immediately you'll notice that your characters are limited to the original characters from the Second and one from the first season. And that the graphics are generally old school (think Age of Empires 2 sized up). You get a choice between 2 Male Characters and 2 Female. Leaving little room for creativity and a sense of individuality, which I feel is a very bad thing for any MMORPG.

And the Digimon Choices appear to be random as for some reason the character that was supposed to use some floppy eared bunny Digimon ended up with Guilmons Baby Version. Though I havent created more than one character, this may be inconclusive.

Digimon Battle- Into the Real World?

Digimon Battle- Into the Real World?

When you start off it's in the Real World, where a Guilmon will act as your introduction to the game telling you where to go and how to use various aspects of the game, such as the card system (which acts like attack based power-ups such as healing and the like). The Graphics in battles don't change too much if at all save for the Special Attacks which use VP (unsure of its genuine meaning).

The game, as its intended auidence suggests has a very high EXP rate for its game. As I got to lvl11 within my first 2hrs of playing and thats the first Digivolution as well. This is very helpful as stated earlier due to children often not getting enough time online as one would have it in their Teens and Adult years. Though it becomes a bother for dedicated players as you can reach lvl41 (Ultimate Level Digimon) in 2 days easily.

Digimon World- My Complaints

Digimon World- My Complaints

The biggest issue here so far is that (though I didnt hint at these), when you move along the Up and down your movement is at a snails pace while moving diagonally is like sprinting. It makes no sense and just frustrates the game a little. The second is that the game has little to no direction at all. And the first quest just tells you to kill some digimon thats 4 screens over and you don't get that well of a map...

Ending Thoughts

The game is basically a fan-based grindfest at best during the early levels and from what I read it continues until end-game. And while there are what looks like hundreds of different digimon its little more than a browser game in a client.

I'd recommend it to any fan of the Digimon Series and tell everyone else to stay away. There's much better out there like Wonderland Online or Atlantica in the same Genre.
