Did you install it right? Whenever I right-click something there is an option "Edit with GIMP". When I click it, it starts GIMP and opens the picture...even if you don't have the option (I use Vista, maybe XP doesn't do that kinda thing, more proof Vista's better I guess) then just do File>>>Open>>>selectpic-duh.

 

EDIT: I can make a pic tutorial for you if you'd like.

Right-click the image you want to invert and choose the option "Edit with GIMP". Ta-da it's in gimp. Then choose your Rectangle Tool and Cntrl+A (or select whatever area you want to invert). Then right-click and go to Colors>>Invert.

 

EDIT: There is also a "Colors" selection in the menu bar if you prefer using that one.

XP is better than Vista. Anyways, I read the above posts, I suggest you uninstall it and then reinstall it if there is no "Open with GIMP" option.
