Welcome to the 2709 Wipeout FX 600 Grand Prix! Giving you almost over 502 years of anti-gravity racing, we're back for this season. Only one month left until the first race! Who are you cheering for? Team Icaras, Harimau, EG-X? Either way, you should expect a season to follow. We're going from Talon's Junction to the Amphesium, and starting the Elimination Rounds early this year! Everyone's eager to know which team will win the Championship, as well as the multi-million yen prize!

WipEout: Words and phrases you should know.

 

Talons Junction, a 4.1 k track that loops and twists through an abandoned research park in Wales. The research facility itself lost funding, and is now home to more... Interesting creatures.

 

Moa Therma, a race off the coast of Sicily. The track is supported by a series of islands where the supports are located, and for 500 meters of it's 5.2 kilometer track, it is under water in an, airtight tunnel.

 

Metropia, a major fan attraction. This track circles the Central Business District of New Kyoto, or at least the District before it expanded so rapidly. This 4.8k track has two stunning jumps in it's length, and is a common place for Eliminator Rounds.

 

Arc Prime: One of the two tracks with tickets not sold to the public. The race is still televised, however, and it goes along a 5.7k track.

 

The Amphesium: Built in Las Vegas, or what it used to be before Japan's successful overthrow of the United States and Mexico, this 7.1k track involves a massive leap, the racer launching over astonished fans. It's three upside down mag strips and cornering loop make this race true entertainment.

 

The final tournament is held in several other tracks, the likes of which told to the participating racers before the public.

 

Mag Wings: The body of the ship that keeps the craft magnetically connected to the track. The fans along the body work against the attraction, to keep the body of the craft from scraping against the track.

 

Teams and their Racing craft~

 

Feisar: Known for craft with a triangular shape. Feisar's craft this year appears to be the same as the 2207 model from long ago, yet with a more aerodynamic body and faster working air brakes. Do they expect an ancient winning design to get them through this year?

 

AG Systems: This team, which separated from Feisar early in the history of the sport, uses a teardrop-like body, with the point being the front of the ship. It's mag-wings are rather large, which sacrifices speed for amazing handling.

 

Qirex: This team, along with Goteki 45, was interested in the long ship idea. This racer is long, somewhat slender, and rectangular, with a main engine between two rectangular mag-wings. The cockpit it in front of the engine.

 

Goteki: The rival team of Qirex, Goteki 45 has a wider ship. They are just as long, though they have much smaller engines, about the size of baseballs, on the inner rear of their mag wings, as well as the main engine behind the cockpit. This allows almost the same handling with greater speed.

 

Piranha: It's fast. Period. This team has always focused on pure speed. Their craft is long, with a curved body that gets only wide enough from the point to fit the cockpit before seizing to get any wider near the tail. Their long, slender body actually hosts a very large engine, which gives them a hands-down advantage in speed. They have sacrificed handling greatly, however, and it is not certain if it would last in an Elimination Round.

 

Triakis: The tank. This craft is designed for Elimination Rounds. With heavy armor and three, spike-like mag-wings at the front of the ship, this racer can take you down. The bad news for fans is, however, that this is slow with mediocre handling. If nothing can be thought up to let this survive the races, it may not make it to the eliminations.

 

Team EG-X: A rather interesting ship. It throws together Feisar and Piranha into some fast acting, easy-to-handle supercraft. It is identified by it's small rear jet-like wings, as well as the large air brakes it has.

 

Assegai: The Legend of the Track. Assegai has been a championship team for many a time, and it is because of their brilliant designs. The new Concept, the name of their craft this season, has to slender ,slanted mag-wings in the front of the ship that lead down and connect to the cockpit. The engine is underneath the two slanted sides of its body, and allows great speed with a balance of handling and durability for elimination rounds. This is one team that the others spend nights plotting to take down.

 

Plot~

 

After the Grey Goo Incident, Talon's Junction decided to take their now underground research further. In an attempt to show they could still manage amazing advances in energy usage in hopes to regain funding as well as being overlooked for their illegal activities, they decided to work on a device that could convert matter to energy and put the energy to use. At first, they tried to create a machine to do this by remote control, but in converting matter, the controls were heated to melting. Instead of risking such a thing getting free and malfunctioning, the idea was destroyed. Instead, the researchers assumed that creating something to absorb energy that was being wasted to carry to anywhere it was needed would work much better. It was an brilliant idea!

Other organisms had evolved to do it long ago, however.

The research crew flew into action, and in trying to develop what the thought was the perfect idea, they used such an amount of energy that entire cities nearby would lose power.

This attracted the Virus Dragons.

Virus Dragons, given their name for the effect they have on humans, feed upon energy. They are assumed to be extraterrestrial, and until the researchers drew them to come from their hiding place, were only mentioned in myths and legends as carriers of death. They could slowly drain the 'life' out of a person by latching onto them and slowing brain activity by stealing the charges sent to muscles. Doing this would slowly kill the body.

The dragons have no need to feed on humans now however, as it is 2709, and the world is using energy more than it ever has been. The Virus Dragons have left their dwellings in the shadows and arrived in massive numbers, causing computer failures and blackouts. Thousands have died in the little time they've been active so far since places are inhabited that wouldn't be without electric cooling and heating systems. Antarctica, which was no longer under treaty with the Global Warming Panic of 2014, has lost nearly two thirds of its population.

Much longer, and the world would have a mass shutdown. The goal is to stop them, yet keep the unaffected public oblivious. The major nests of the Virus Dragons are the tracks, where energy is most frequently used, and the Teams have agreed to give the public their races and wipe out the Virus Dragons while doing so.
