Taiga flipped through his money purse. After his escort fee, his fee for the rescue effort and the payment for helping in the rebuilding of a town, he had amassed a good amount. Satisfied, he replaced it and pushed his boat from the shore. He set into swift motion with his water bending and lay back, staring at the sky. His journey to the northern water tribe was more difficult than he expected, but very profitable. Countless villages and towns were damaged in the fall of the comet, and many welcomed the help of a bender with open arms... and wallets.

"Hey!" a voice yelled, startling him out of his thoughts. "That's him! Get him!" Taiga glanced back. On the shore, four men paced the boat, riding the large bird beast common in the earth kingdom area. A group of bandits, if he remembered correctly. Very poor ones at that. He hardly got anything from them. Ah well. He lowered his sail, killing the prop aside. Taking a deep lungful if air, he let out a large gust that rocketed his boat along the river at a fair speed, leaving the bandits behind.

Iatsu had checked a few cities that he had known the avatar to have been before. Thus far though, he had no luck in finding him. ah well, no matter. I'll run into him eventually. Probably sooner rather then later, if he's traveling with some of the others in his group that I've heard about. I wonder if it's really true that Zuko is there with them though? Iatsu had heard rumors, before the fall of Sozin's comet, about how Prince Zuko had apparently left on a journey with the avatar before returning and having an Agni Kai with his sister Azula for the throne. He had never really set much store by such rumors, since he felt that they did not concern him, but he had often wondered if they could actually be true. He was about to looking for an island so that he could get a little rest When he saw four bandits on a winged beast bearing down on Taiga. He grabbed his hilt and then looked up and saw that Taiga had used Air Bending to escape from the would be bandits. An Air Bender? Here?! Iatsu had thought that all of the other air benders had been wiped out when Sozins comet had crashed into the earth, and so the prospect of finding another one made him feel excited, but also wrathful. He didn't like the idea that what may be the only other Air Bender other then himself was being attacked, so he formed a thin four foot blade of air that emanated from the hollowed out hilt that he carried and swung it twice after he had ascended to above the winged beast that the would be bandits were riding. Each swing unleashed a wave if air with a sharpened edge that went through the feathers on the winged beasts wings, making it so that it could no longer fly and started to fall into the water. Allowing the blade of air to dissipate and putting it away again before crouching low over his Air Glider. Putting pressure on his rear foot, he rides the wind upwards until he is going almost straight up. Once he had reached a good one thousand or so feet, he does a midair back flip on his Air Glider so that it is pointing straight down again and fills the hollow inside of it with air and uses it to give him additional speed, turning it into an Air Benders version of something akin to a rocket. He uses this and the speed gained from his downward descent to catch up with Taiga before matching his speed and standing more or less straight up and saying "Hey, how's it going?" He then quickly says before Taiga can answer "Hey are you an Air Bender?"

Zuko was the first to speak up. He disagreed with the plan, and he wasn't shy about letting he others know it. "I don't know Anng," he said as he contemplated how things would work out. "First, we don't know the state of the swamp. Who knows what cou;d've happened there, who knows if it even still has any kind of connection to the spirit world. Second, you know as well as I do that Ozai's men run rampant in the earth kingdom. The chances that we'll run into someone are very strong. While I'm sure we could take them, it would alert others to our position." Before Aang could object however, Zuko continued, "I'm not saying that we should go. But we definitely should go with a big sign over our head that says 'Hey, I'm with the Avatar'. We need disguises."

Katara stood up. "Where there's Ozai's men there those who hate him." She said confidentaly. "I think we need to go to the swamp. If Aang has a chance to connect with the spirit world he should do it. He'll need all the help he can get to defeat Ozai again. I say we visit the swamp and hopfully Aang can speak with Avatars from past." She said opposing with Zuko and also was the first thing she said since the "meeting" had started.

Iatsu had waited for several long moments for Taiga to answer, but received none. Disappointed and thinking that It might well be that he had ran into someone who could only use air as a secondary element, he climbs up to the sky once more and continues on towards the Northern Water Tribe, thinking that the avatar might well be there. After all, it was said that the Northern Water Tribe was the most secure place in all the known world, and had even survived an assault from Fire Nation armies, whereas the Earth Kingdom was overrun with Fire Nation soldiers. Within a couple of hours Iatsu landed in the Norther Water Tribe, shivering a bit from the cold and wondering if he should find somewhere to rest for a while. He decides to see if he can find somewhere to grab some food though, as he was quite hungry, and so walked to the nearest tent. He pulls the tent flap aside and is about to ask if anyone knew of a nearby place to grab some food, when he froze with his mouth set in a perfect comical O. To his great surprise, he had inadvertently stumbled upon the Avatar and his group, which had been the very one that he was looking for in the first place. Standing there and holding on to his closed up Air Glider, he manages after a few seconds to get himself together enough to ask. "Sorry, is this a bad time?"

Katara out of instinct bended the water from a gourd on her back and Sokka drew his sword. Then she noticed his glider. "An airbender." She breathed surprised but kept her fighting stance. "Who are you? Why are you here?" She questioned their newfound guest.

Sokka took a step forward in front of Katara. He looked over the airbender and raised an eyebrow. Then sheathed his sword and stood back. "He is no enemy. Look at this dude. Skinny, weak. Even if he opposed us we could take him eh Katara?"

Katara let the water slink back into the guord. "Who are you then?"

"Who are you calling weak?" Iatsu said, hie eyebrow twitching a bit at the flippant remark. "As for who I am, I'll answer that, but I have a question of my own first." Iatsu unsheathed the sword that he had found and swung it down and out to the side with a practiced air that he had gained from the sword training that he had undergone in order to be able to use his own Air Sword efficiently when needed. "Did any of you lose a sword in the earth kingdom? Because I found this on one of the shores that had a bunch of weird looking shipwrecks on it." Iatsu flipped the sword back as he brought it up in front of him so that it was facing downwards, holding it straight out with the sword point facing downwards so that everyone could see it clearly.

Sokka's eyes widened. "Dude." He said unable to believe what was happening. He swooped up the sword from Iatsu. "I can't believe it. Katara! It my sword! The one I made with that sword guy." He said holding his pitch black sword and examing it, in so much shock he couldn't even remember his swordmaster's name. "Okay I take back that weak comment." He cradeled the sword like a baby looking exceptionally stupid. "I'd thought I'd never see you again." He said talking . . . to the sword.

Iatsu almost burst out laughing at Sokka's reaction, and could have sworn that he cracked a rib or two to keep from outright laughing as to how he treated the sword. To give himself something to do, as wellas to try and keep from dwelling on Sokka's weird behavior, Iatsu says "Well you certainly are exactly as I'd heard you'd be. Anyway, here's your sheath. It looks as though it spent some time in a fire, but it should still be useable." Iatsu takes the sheath off and hands it over to Sokka before turning to face Zuko and taking a couple of steps towards him. "You're not as I had imagined though. At least, you don't look like a traitor to the Fire Nation. Anyway, I find myself in need of a Fire Bending teacher. Think you cold help me out?"

Sokka gave a glare to Iatsu and began to polish his long lost sword.

Katara looked at Iatsu curiously. Her mind had questions that she couldn't hold back. She stepped up to Iatsu. "And you still haven't told us so much as your name. I'll ask you again then. Who are you?" The water from the guord on her back began to circle around her waist as her hands waved un the air controling it.

"Just calm down Katara." Sokka said completely engrossed in polishing his sword.

"You're one to talk Sokka, you couldn't even remember your own sword masters name." Iatsu said as he irritatedly turned towards Sokka and glared at him just as equally as he had been glared at before. He then turned to Katara and said "My name is Iatsu, and I'm an Airbender." He said as he removed his headband, showing the tattoo that all Air Benders eventually gained. They guessed as much when I walked in though, so part of it must have already been showing. I'll have to be more careful from now on. "I gained the ability to Fire Bend due to the fall of Sozins comet though, that's part of why I was searching for you guys." I've seen first hand what can happen when someone is unable to control their Fire Bending." Iatsu turned to face Zuko again and awaited his answer, hoping that he would be able to finally learn how to control this strange ability of his.

Zuko nodded in acknowledgment. "Firebending is the hardest element to control," he said. "Without proper dicipline, there is no way to control it. It is unpredictable, unrelenting." He huld up his hand, and gathered energy. A fireball appeared there. "But when you can control it." The ball of fire warped into a smal rose, completely with lively petals. "Is it beautiful." He looked back at the stranger. "So yes, I will teach you, if you wish." He then turned back to the others. "I guess I've been out voted. To the swamp it is."

"The swamp? You mean the one in the Earth Kingdom that is said to have a stronger connection to the spirit world then basically anywhere else?" Iatsu had only just arrived, and already it seemed like he would be leaving. "Well, I'm kind of tired, so if we're leaving immediately then I'm going to have to rest a bit on The avatars Flying Bison for a while first, if that's okay. By the way, what is your name anyway?" Iatsu asked as he turned to Aang again. He had seen wanted posters of him and the others before, but he had always seen 'The Avatar' under Aangs picture, and so didn't know what his name was.

"I am Aang, and as you know, the Avatar. Its wonderful to meet you Iatsu," Aang said with a smile on his face. "You are the first person we've met in a while, let alone someone who can bend. It amazes me, you can bend fire and Air. What a magnificient combination. It truly is beautiful to watch." Aang was happy. It had occured to him many times that he very well was the last airbender and he'd come to terms with that. Now though, he managed to find solace that he was not the only aribender alive. He would love to share his knowledge with Iatsu and hopefully anymore benders he met along the way. "Well guys, I think we are already, but let's head over to that nearby town over there to find out if anyone is alive and if not what we can get to survive on." Aang opened up his glider and took off into the air.

"Wait Aang!" Katara called out running out of the tent. "How is anybody suppose to keep up with him, flying around everywhere." She muttered to herself, then she remembered the one time they traveled to one of the Air Temples and found the people there polluting the temples and destroying the magnificent ruins but she remembered the gliders that they had built and when she rode in one. Through the air. She wished she could feel that again. The freedom of the open air, feeling as if your wieghtless and gravity is no longer chained to you and she smiled at the sky. Katara then thought about how the comet destroyed the Air temples and how they lay destroyed forever more and her smile quickly faded and her mood dampened.

"Man, he really doesn't slow down for anything, does he?" Iatsu asked before turning to Zuko and bowing respectfully to him. "My thanks for agreeing to become my teacher. I really want to be able to get this whole Fire Bending thing figured out before it gets to out of hand." He then grabs his staff and twirls it around a bit before tossing it towards the ground where it opened up, although instead of its normal look, it looked more like an Air Benders equivalent of a surf board. Iatsu had add that part in himself, making sure to choose materials that would not catch fire, even when resting directly inside of a fire. Even in searching the Fire Nation before it had fallen, it had not been an easy task to accomplish. "Hey, Katara, right? You look like you want to head after Aang. If you like I could let you ride my Air Glider. I have a smaller one built into my outfit, so I'll still be able to travel while controlling the larger Air Glider."

"Oh, no." Katara protested. "That's really sweet but I really don't think I could." She said even though wishing she could do it a moment ago, now was acting shy.

"C'mon Katara. You know you want to." Sokka said nudging her slightly smiling.

"Why don't you do it then?" She said as a weak comeback.

"I'm not getting in one of those things. No way. "I'll ride on a flying bison. I'll fight against Ozai but I'm not getting into one of those." He said truthfully.

Katara smiled slightly at Iatsu. "Do you really think you could do it?"

"Hey, It's not like I'm going to be having you do a cutback turndrop or something. As you can see there are some small openings on either side of the Air Glider, So all you would have to do is sit on it while I did some airbending to keep it afloat. You don't have to if you don't want to, but hey, it's not like you can do Dual Bending or anything." Iatsu wasn't entirely sure that he was right about his last statement, but he doubted that Katara gained a second ability since she would have been with Aang and the others, and they would have been far away from the blast radius that resulted from Sozin's comet. "And as for you Sokka, you just go back to polishing your sword. What is not needed right now are comments from the peanut gallery."

"Okay . . ." Katara said sitting down on the Air Glider. Now thinking about she wasn't so sure she wanted to go soaring through the air but sat there anyway. She could remember how she felt right before flying for the first time. She didn't want to go through with it at first but once she did it she absoluty loved it.

"Don't need comments from the peanut gallery." Sokka muttered as he started to walk the city unlike the others.

Iatsu smiled and used the air to lift the Air Glider further off the ground, then stretched his arms out to the sides. Using the air, he caused the hidden Air Glider fitted under his arms and across his back to open up, then he jumped out of the tent and took to the skies, Katara a little above and behind him. He was thrilled to be up in the air again like this, and suddenly felt a lot less tired. True, he flew through the air often, but he had always used his Air Glider before. Traveling through the air on his own set of wings, even if they were not a part of his body, was truly invigorating. For a moment, he completely forgot almost everything else, aside from keeping Katara afloat and sped up, the Air Glider that Katara was on keeping pace with him. He soon saw the Aaang and started to slow down, descending a bit so that he would be able to land nearby.

Katara screamed as the glider took off. Soon that scream turned into laughter. She had a huge grin on her face she flew through the air. As if all her troubles just flew away from her. She felt free with her hair being blown back and she felt as if she was wieghtless.

Sokka smiled as he heard her sister's laugh again. She hadn't laughed in a long time and he was glad to hear it again. "Iatsu, maybe your not so bad." He said to himself while smiling at the sight of her sister being happy. Even if it was only a second.

Aang had already walked away before he heard Iatsu. When he finally heard his voice being carried by the swift air, he looked around until he saw the source. "Oh Iatsu. How are you? I apologize for not hearing you sooner;I've been lost in my thoughts of how to solve the problem of the world breaking like a really soft cookie. I mean its not like we can bake it back together can we?? Ahh I just don't know," Aang continued forward as he walked into the town, watching the few people that littered the streets there. They needed food and he would search until he found some for everyone.

Iatsu lands on the ground just a little ways away from Aang. He had thought that he was the last Air Bender, same as Aang. It had been a difficult thing for him to come to terms with, and so was glad to find that the avatar was an Air Bender as well. His joy was short lived though, as he saw that perhaps extermination would have been a kinder fate then what he saw around here. keeping his larger air glider slightly aloft, he easily caught up to Aang and grabbed the back of his clothing causing him to stop short. "You're headed in the wrong direction." He tosses Aang up into the air and fills the flaps on his outfit with air so as to keep him aloft. Iatsu jumps into the air, bringing his Air Glider that Katara was on so that it was level with him and Aang. "Shouldn't the two of you be fishing and gathering water to cook the fish that you would be catching? That's the obvious thing to be doing, is it not? and perhaps it would help to encourage others to take it up as well so as to continue fending for themselves when we leave, don't you think?

((Accepted b/c we don't need this to die))

"Iatsu, you would be right. But we need to help the people here first. If as an Avatar, I cannot build up a broken person, town village or even in such cases, the world, I am not doing what I am. However, we do need to help figure out what these people need. Most of which is shelter because it seems they have an ample supply of food. They are lucky. Many of the villages we've passed through were either raided, ravaged, destroyed, destitute or worse. The least we can do is help them. After we are done, our plans will matter little to them," Aang said before he walked up to an old woman. She seemed to be in charge as everyone who was alive here listened to her. "Miss, I am the Avatar, the world's hero! Anything you need from me?"

"Baaaah! Savior! Because of you and the ex-Fire Lord we are in this mess! If you are really so great, get us some homes!. There is no forest nearby for us who are strong enough to carry wood, and none of us are Earthbenders or skilled enough to make houses out of the dirt and sand from the beach. We have Rubble. RUBBLE!! GET TO BENDING AVATAR!! REDEEM YOURSELF IN THE EYES OF THE PEOPLE! ELSE....well if you cannot, we may kill you here and now. Teach these broken people and benders some order. Else we will demonstrate to you our chaos," the old women said with a scowl.

Aang did not regard the harshness of the remark, but instead did as she asked. He began making the foundations for a large building out of the earth in this town. He wanted to leave them with something special, so he began to make glass for them. He felt no wrong in her words but began going about his self-imposed task. About 20 meters into the town he began breaking down the rubble from the houses and building a large towering building in their place. He also began to gather a stream of sand as he intricately placed a path to each level. He then sent jets of flame to heat the sand into glass and molded pathways with air. His task would take some time, but they would have someplace to call home soon.
