Announcement: Updated Stars on Template (added more stars and fixed placement).

Hey guys. Here's the story..

I've been rather disappointed in the quality of Dark Synchros around here (really, they're just desaturations except for a few) so I decided to make my own template and now that I'm feeling nice, I've decided to share it for the benefit of the community. This template is an xcf file or in other words is for gimp. This tutorial requires virtually no knowledge of Gimp because the template is practically self-explanatory and this tutorial lays out everything for you.

Now. Let's Begin.

Download the template below.

It's not necessary to read the instructions because the template is very easy to figure out but if you are not familiar with Gimp or need help, I have posted instructions.
Instructions on How to use the Template]

Screenshots may slightly differ from what you see due to modifications in the template.

First step is create your card and open it up in Gimp(obviously).

Make sure your card meets the following requirements.

-It is an effect monster

-It has Dark Synchro written in after its type.
In the Type Box' date=' type in your desired type. Then, hit space bar once and put " / ". Then hit space bar once again and type Dark Synchro[/quote']

Now push Ctr+L to open your layers window.

If you've done everything correctly up to know, you should see something like this. Note: I have not put Dark Synchro in the type for this card.

Now that you've opened up your card and the windows layer, find the 'dark synchro' in whatever folder you've put it and drag it onto your card in the Gimp window.

Drag this onto the Gimp window.

After you've dragged the template onto your card, you should see something like this.

In the layers window, scroll to the bottom and find and click the layer 'dark synchro.xcf -test.jpg' and delete it by clicking the the trash can.

Now push R which will select the 'Rectangular Select Tool' and drag a rectangle around the border of the card picture. You do not have to get this pixel perfect as long as you select all of the picture (you can select part of the border).

Now push Ctr+I which will invert your selection and then find and click 'Colors' at the top of your Gimp window.

You should be given a list. Find and click 'Desaturate...' and use the settings shown below. Afterwards, go ahead and click 'OK'.

Ok. Almost done. It's time to finish up by selecting the number of stars and the attribute. Find and click in the layers window 'dark synchro - Blue Stars' and push R. Then drag a rectangle around the stars you want deleted and push the Delete key.

Final Step! Now scroll up in your layers window and find the layer of the attribute you wish to use (they are labeled). Once you've found it, click and drag it to the top of the list (above 'dark synchro.xcf - DARK').

You should now have a 99% authentic looking Dark Synchro!

After all the hard work, don't forget to save it!
