Protip: get a social life.

Haha! I need a social life because I don't want to look at or be seen playing Yugioh with obese pimple ridden inbreds like you? Do you even look at what you type?

Have you ever been to a yugioh tournament? The vast majority of people who attend them are not the people you just described.

My locals were, and I thought it wouldn't be that far off to expand the ideology. I guess I was mistaken there. But at any rate, my point was mainly that not wanting to see who I was playing with wasn't some sort of social disorder as Jazin felt the urge to try and expose.

IRL to me holds more merit than online. I never liked the idea of loosing to a noob with ded when i know he could never amount to actually obtaining one through ways other than a cpu of any sort.

This.

I happened to have met a cute girl at one regional a few years back. We didn't date, but there was a spark of sorts. A peck on my cheek and off I went back to my home state.

Would I have met her and got that kiss if I sat on my ass at home? Naw, bro. Would I have made top 8 that day if I stayed home and played nobodies on YVD? Probably not. Would I have stopped by the house of a friend of my folks' and had a swell time hearing stories of when my dad was a rookie electrician? I'm glad I did that.

IRL > otherwise.

I can understand being poor.

I can too. Before I started being pro IRL, I was reared by the GBA games. I slaughtered Marik so many times, I wanted to start playing for real.

But in cases where "playing for real" isn't possible, the best thing you can get is this virtual method. On a DS or YVD. It's when that person has a CHOICE between OL and IRL dueling, when they choose OL over IRL, that we raise eyebrows and wonder why. Is he fat? Does he have no social life? Does he not understand a marketing world enough to increase his binder girth in profit trades to build up a respectable card stock that can win him games? Is he too bad at the game to ever feel comfortable in an IRL shop where there's most certainly very good players? No way to tell.

My whole thing is that it doesn't cost as much money as you think it does. The average house hold spends $2,698 on entertainment a year and $808 in misc.. Its really about budgeting like any thing else. I personally don't see the point in a house phone when every body has a cell. I personally don't see the point in cable when you can watch everything over the internet. I don't buy name bran too often because the store brand is almost always on sale. And buying in bulk mostly all the time will save you money.

TL;DR

saying things like its too much money is a cop out. $4 for 9 cards isn't alot.

no, not at all. you can build a competitive deck out of commons. ie glad beast, bw's, gadgets.

and besides, most of these onliners play with character decks, janky decks, anime only cards, and plainly suck.

im not saying, play irl, and screw online play. i just believe irl is better. (if for nobody else, than for me.) Lets face fact. when we play this game, that's a good 1-2 hours of our life we're not getting back. But irl, at least i have something to hold on to at the end of the day where as online, a new server (or konami; remember dmu) could wipe everything. And konami is still working to shut down everything that isn't yugioh online. you know that down loadable game where you have to buy duel passes.

no' date=' not at all. you can build a competitive deck out of commons. ie glad beast, bw's, gadgets.[/quote'] I can slightly agree to this, but in the long run core cards are rather expensive, like Trag, Armored Wing, and Vayu.

Sorry, this is rather assuming of you. Out of the people I've played recently, I faced a rather decent Zombie World, Stardust Assault Mode, Skilless Villagers, and an E-Hero deck. One that was well constructed and focused on Miracle Fusion with Absolute Zero, mind you. And I play on Yugioh Network, where it's all TCG-only.

I can see where you're coming from here. At the end of the day it's all about our preference. We both have our reasons for thinking what we do, I don't think I should immediately quit the game over them. :S
