I only know The Hurt Locker won best director and best picture. I didn't watch it (to busy watching Indiana Jones), but I did see bits a pieces of it. My mom and dad had a contest to see who picked the most movies that won (they had like a sheet with all them on it), and my dad won, but my mom got the last two.

Because the 2008 film was not originally released in the U.S. (at least in an Oscar-qualifying run in Los Angeles) until 2009' date=' it was eligible to be judged for that year's awards, the 82nd Academy Awards held in 2010.

Given that Inglourious Basterds has to be one of the greatest films that rely mostly on dialogue, I think it should win. Inglourious Basterds is one my favorite war films, though I usually dislike such films. This makes itself different from typical war films, and thus it is brilliant. It should have won, not some film that was released in 2008. Being released in the U.S. in 2009 is not a legitimate reason.
