~Watari opens a laptop and a mysterious voice emanates from it.~

Mysterious Voice: Greetings to all of you...

I am L. I'm sure all of you have already noticed the continued killing of criminals by the one known as Kira. I have already begun investigating into this and have been able to deduce... that Kira... has already infiltrated the Japanese Police.

"Infiltrated!? Like how? You mean he's one amongst the force!?"

Mysterious Voice: Yes, Even more, he could even be among us right now.

"I don't mean to doubt you," Iori sniffed, "But perhaps you could give us some proof of how you figured Kira inflitrated the police force, let alone is among us right now?"

Mysterious Voice: Most of this is mere speculation, but it seems to be the most logical conclusion; that Kira would be part of the police force. Kira would want revenge against me and the best way to do this would be to have some sort of connection to the police force. This seems unlikely, but its possible.

Kenneth: Age 24, new member of the police force. Intrigued and slightly suspicious of L and his motives. Outgoing, logical, respectful of his colleagues, clumsy, and a klutz. Usually late. Professional actor before he joined the police force.

 

As L begins to say Kira might be in the police force, Kenneth, flustered, suddenly bursts into the room. Upon realizing that L is speaking, his eyes bug out and he abruptly takes his seat, folding his hands, and focusing intently. After L's comment, Kenneth strokes his chin thoughtfully for a moment, then, after a brief hesitation, asks the voice a question.

 

Sorry for arriving late and interrupting sir, but why would Kira want to be in the police force? Logically, Kira would want to stay AWAY from us, as becoming a part of us would limit our suspects to the people working on the case, of which there are not many. Kira and the other police force members would have to undergo questioning, and though the mistrust would tear the police force apart, it still seems illogical that Kira would risk putting himself under suspicion. Am I not right? And also, would you be kind enough to give us the base of your speculation?

Mysterious Voice:

As I said before, Kira will be after revenge against me. The only way he will have a chance of doing that will be if he had at least 1 connection with the police force. If Kira is not part of the police force himself, it would be easy enough to bribe someone or find someone supportive within the police force. We already know Kira is in Tokyo so that warrants suspicion that Kira could be anywhere but to me this place seems the most likely since here is where Kira would have the highest chance of getting at me. If Kira is indeed already within the police force, he would most likely try to discredit me as well if has indeed found a way. Plus, we have no clue on how Kira is able to kill people. I will guess that if its a power that can be gained, a person who we have no reason to suspect still has a chance of being Kira, If it is not, he would still need a way to get after me. Suspicion of a person is one thing, proving they are Kira is another thing entirely. We have no way of proving they are Kira or not.

Iori leaned back in his chair, "Okay, perhaps Kira is within the police. He kills all his victims, which are criminals, with heart attacks. These criminals seem to commit dangerous crimes, not small ones. And according to our tracking, EVERY criminal killed was revealed through the media. Perhaps we could block the media from showing major crimes, forcing Kira into a situation where he must kill criminals who commit small crimes, or to kill major criminals by getting the information from the police database. Either way, we will have a clue of what type of connections Kira has. I'm sure you're able to do this, right L?"

Mysterious Voice:

That won't help us at all, If Kira is part of the police force, he would know about this. So that means he would just kill smaller criminals in order to mislead us into thinking that he isn't.

Kenneth nods in approval: Or worse, he could kill bystanders... if he's already killed hundreds of criminals, I'm sure he wouldn't hesitate.

Mysterious Voice:

Here is what I propose:

Everyone present here will pair up with someone else who is also here. I doubt Kira is able to kill people simply by using Psychic powers. He must use something to do so. If Kira is among us, he would not want to get caught so the killings would ultimately stop. So long as both partners stick together at all times the killings should stop. If the killings continue and nobody slipped up, then Kira is most likely not among us. Anybody have any objections to this plan?

"Whatever," mumbled Iori, "So what are we going to do? I mean, whether this is Kira from before or not, we first have to figure out if he has the same goal as the last one. We must know who we are facing."

The weekly criminal is: Otusha Isamu, murdered his brother and his girlfriend. Currently on the run. Kira, if you wish to kill this criminal, you must be able to without anyone knowing. PM when you're ready.

Kenneth: Sounds like a great plan! Everyone here would be under close surveillance, so if Kira needs some physical action to kill, his partner would see it. And if Kira's partner died, it would generate suspicion onto him. Kira could kill all of us except one or two people, but then that would limit suspicion to those people. It sounds pretty foolproof. I like it. I don't suspect you of being Kira, of course, but if all of us are to have a partner, it is only fair that you are put under surveillance as well, detective.

Iroi's face turned solomn. "...What happens if more than one person is Kira? I suggest we do the plan, but if the killings continue, that doesn't prove that Kira isn't among us, it simply suggests the idea Kira may be more than one person."

Mysterious Voice:

From what we know now, if there were 2 Kiras criminals would be dying much faster. If the killings continue even when everyone is paired up, it will still allow us to neutralize the first Kira if there is more than 1. We'll investigate it first if the killings continue. If we can catch the first Kira, the second will be easier to catch. We should first focus on verifying that the first one is within the police and right here with us. As soon as we pair up, there should be a small period of time in which criminals do not die. I'll say when I've affirmed that Kira is among us. One more thing, for any reason should your partner with whom you are paired with ever escape your sight, even for a few minutes, please talk to Watari and contact me immediately so I'll know that if a criminal or fellow officer dies, that person had a chance of having something to do with it.

I will announce the pairings in a little bit, and the person who is paired with me will remain with Watari.

Kenneth pulls a box of donuts out of a bag he's carrying with him, and sets it on a central table. He opens it, and takes out a donut, and begins chewing, looking around the room in silence.

 

"So... is the meeting over?"

Kenneth hurriedly attempts to swallow his donut, but doesn't completely succeed. A couple of loose crumbs fly out of his mouth as he replies:

 

"Nope, sounds like a plan."

 

Kenneth leaves his seat to sit next to Hiachi, whom he hands a donut.

 

"Anything else we should know about before we call it a day?"

This will take in effect tomorrow. For now, everyone is forced to return home, no ifs ands or buts. I will post when it is safe to return to the police station. You are not forced to post what you do at home, however, if you do, you must post everything.

Mysterious Voice:

Good morning to all of you. I hate to tell you both that we have lost half of the members of the members that were here just yesterday. However we have also been able to verify that Kira is in fact within the police force and in this very room. I received a message from Kira, proving that he knew about my suspicion of him being in the police force, but the only people who knew that were the 5 other people that stood in this room. Furthermore, Kira was rather rash in killing the people that were here, he even killed my prime suspect, Iori Kanto. The reason I had him paired with Watari and me in the pairings, was because I suspected him of being Kira. Instead though, Kira killed off the people I did suspect and left me with 2 suspects, 1 of which I'm 100% sure is the real Kira. Of course this also puzzles me, why did Kira kill off my suspect instead of leaving him alive and the 1 of you who isn't Kira, why did he leave you alive instead? The only conclusion I can draw from it is that Kira was scared of my plan and for some other reason he needed him dead. Of course, now there is the need to find out how Kira is killing people, all people were killed at exactly the same time. As well as the criminal who had just been reported. Both of you care to share your thoughts on my original plan to see if we should still go with it?

Kaisu was at his computer at home, a microphone attached to his computer. He was takling to L over voice conference. "I don't know.. It seems risky.." Kaisu said uncertainly. He didn't want to be killed. THe chances of meeting Kira were higher than ever.
