The demons are naturally stronger and quicker. There is no sun, only Darkness. In the Old Days people would hunt the demons with their Strength and Swords, but a Demon Lord had given his life to make Demons impervious to the human's. Then the tide's of war turned on the humans.

 

Then One Day a man named Yugi Mutou traveled to the Demon World and introduced a new way to fight, with so called "Duel Monsters". He used his power to restrict the demons power to kill humans with their own power. The humans fought the demons, and seemed to win until they found out how to use the power. So now humans with the power are sent to the Duel Academy, where the fine-tune their abilities and prepare them for the war against the demons.

Dante is a Devil Hunter that fights with both Sword and Duel Monsters (Due to him Being Half Demon/ Half Human). He prefers to fight with Duel Monsters (According to him it takes less energy and can be more challenging with Strong demons). Dante's hated Demons all his life, and joined the Academy just to become stronger. He has met many people but does not like to refer to them as friends. With every Demon he kills it seems that he only gets stronger and gets new abilities. Dante is funny in his own way, and is very strong for what he believes in. He swears that he will destroy all Demons and those who follow them.
