I honestly don't know what any of you are talking about' date=' Ho-Oh is WAY more "awesomesauce" than Lugia. And for that matter, Palkia is more awesome than Dialga.

[/quote']

No, Lugia is obviously 14.5 times more awesomesauce than Ho-oh. And Palkia is better competitively (obviously), but its sprite is less than shit.

Ho-oh is jabroniin' Dark. Accept it. The only other Pokemon that is as awesome for God status is Arceus.

And I really want them to clear that up. If Arceus is Pokemon God, what is Ho-Oh? Cuz you know, Ho-Oh was sort of God throughout the first three generations.

NO U

Lugia is obviously better, in terms of competitive play and in terms of spriting and in terms of awesomesauce level. kthxbai

And, uh... I'm not even sure Arceus is god anymore with your argument. And if Ho-oh is god, what is Lugia? Lugia is Ho-oh's counterpart. <___<

I'd be pretty happeh if Black and White (and Gray) incorporates Hinduism into the game. Like, have three major gods (one who creates stuff, destroys stuff, something else I forgot) and pit them against each other. Kind of like Groudon and Kyogre and Rayray, but MOAR GODLIEK.

Well actually...

Mew is the ancestor of all Pokemon. So that's like Darwinism, evolution.

Ho-Oh was worshipped and could resurrect the dead and possesses Sacred Fire. So that's like Chinese God thing, especially since Ho-Oh is based on the Chinese Phoenix.

Lugia is the Guardian of the Sea (as opposed to Kyogre, who is like, the arbinger of the sea). Lugia also maintains balance in the weather and stuff. It's kinda similar to the Japanese Ryujin, or Sea God. This makes sense, as Asian beliefs allow multiple Gods.

Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza are each responsible for a certain aspect of their Region's creation, and are highly reminiscent of the Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz. So they're kind of Judaistic God-Beast status.

And then Arceus is responsible for creating Sinnoh (and possibly the rest of the world), and placing three Pokemon in charge of specific aspects of the world. So it's sort of like Christian God status.

It's like each generation focuses on a different set of ideals. As such, you may be right that Arceus may not be quite so god-like as at first thought.

I'm kinda surprised I never brought up Ho-oh back when we had that argument last year. xD

Food for though.

The main legends of each game went like this:

Mew, and it's reincarnation (and evil persona) Mewtwo.

Ho-oh and Lugia, whatever the hell they are.

Kyogre, god of sea, Groudon, god of land, Rayquaza, god of sky (based on my views).

Dialga, ruler of time, Palkia, ruler of space.

For the most part, each main legend is of relatively equal status to the others in its respective generation. Why is Gen II so special? <___<

Maybe it could be something like Ho-oh is the upbringer and Lugia is the destroyer, but that is Farfetch'd. HAHAHAHA POKEMON PUN!

There basically no other Legendary Pokemon the can make, they have made God so...

I didn't say Gen II was Special. I'm just pointing out that Ho-Oh was pretty much regarded as the God Pokemon (in Status, not in Power) prior to Arceus.

And thinking about it, every Uber in the series has some sort of god-like reference.

I always wondered about Lugia and Kyogre, too. Since Lugia is supposedly Guardian of the Sea, Balance-Keeper with the weather, and stays in the ocean to contain its supposedly massive power. Meanwhile, Kyogre actually expanded the sea, created Hoenn with Groudon by mixing their elements, and has a name that actually means "Sea Lord".

Funnily enough, the most recent Japanese opening for the Pokemon Anime shows Kyogre and Lugia (and Groudon) getting in a fight with each other.

No, that has been disproven by Zex. Gen V is already confirmed to be coming out, so they have to have version legends.

Okay' date=' we've cleared up the other legendaries. Where does that leave Giratina, the three birds, the three dogs, Celebi, Deoxys, Heatran, and the Spirits?

[/quote']

The birds, dogs and spirits are all trios, obviously. Maybe little "helpers" to the actual legends?

Giratina is protector of caves, Celebi is protector of forests, Heatran is protector of volcanoes, Deoxys is some random DNA thingy alien that came down to Hoenn and did stuff.

But that sounds like bullshit. D:

Giratina is part of the Dragon Trio - it's in charge of the Reverse World, which is just as important as Time and Space, apparently.

Also, Dark, have you read Ho-Oh's article on Smogon recently? It seems that, in their opinion at least, and I quote: "Thanks to Ho-Oh’s new toy in Brave Bird, most of its old counters no longer work as well, meaning that Ho-Oh is now a top-tier threat that can literally devastate teams."

Basically, Kyogre is the only Pokemon in the game that can still be a considerable nuisance to Ho-Oh, consistently at least, and BB will still 2HKO the less defensive variants, or OHKO it after SR damage.

It will also "always OHKO Palkia, Latias, Latios, Rayquaza, and minimum HP / minimum Defense Kyogre after Stealth Rock damage with a Life Orb boost."

Rayquza can threaten it with Outrage, but only after getting a DD or Swords Dance if Ho-Oh's HP is still high. And if Ho-Oh is being a proper Team Player and using Roost where apprpriate, then Quaza is gonna have some trouble getting that boost in without dying.

However, it must be noted that Quaza is still a valid threat to Ho-Oh, and one slip up around will cost Ho-Oh its life.

What I found most impressive is that BB 3HKO's Giratina. So if it came to a stall match, Ho-Oh would eventually win, due to Giratina having to Rest eventually, thus getting killed before it can wake up.

There have been so many variety of Dragon Pokemon for legendaries. What I'd like to see now is a:

Dragon / Bug

Dragon / Dark

Dragon / Ice

Dragon / Electric

But, what I don't understand is, why Gamefreak is so bent on Dragon Pokemon. They aren't the strongest type, because no single type is. So they need a serious change in Legends.

Like a Bug legendary.

THE HELL? HO-OH'S BRAVE BIRD CAN 3HKO A GIRATINA?

...I concede defeat. But Lugia is still more awesomesauce.

Yeah, I forgot. <_<

I agree completely. So, not that anyone but Dark(maybe) here cares, but I'm attempting to leave this awful, awful site.

I just beat HG. I have not played in a while, for your information. Any one have ideas for a competitive team?

Especially since Ho-Oh is part Fire and if you decide to keep Lugia's Hydro Pump, then that could do some serious damage. If I'm correct, Brave Bird is flying, and Flying move against flying type = Not very effective.

Maybe Lugia is a valid threat. :/

Lugia's Sp.Atk sucks for an Uber, and Ho-Oh's Sp.Def is the second highest in the Uber Meta. Lugia does not have STAB for Hydro Pump. So no, Lugia with Hydro Pump is not a threat to Ho-Oh, especially if there's Sunlight out.

Also, Flying type moves are neutral against other Flying types. Regardless, if it's Ho-Oh vs. Lugia, just the two of them, Lugia is still more likely to win.

Lugia can outstall Ho-Oh and wear it down with Toxic, while Roosting off whatever damage it sustains. Ho-Oh can roost and survive any attack (easily) that Lugia throws at it, but if it's one on one, then Ho-Oh is going to die, since it can't kill Lugia before Toxic kills it.

Although, if you have a Toxic Ho-Oh, you win, because Toxic + Sacred Fire will kill Lugia before Lugia's Toxic gets you.
