Your main reasoning is that it can take a hit, but Rayquaza, if it has enough prior support, can set up Dragon Dance and take priority hits and win. Ho-oh doesn't have that setup option, nor does it have the option that Deoxys-A has by going all-out force and raping everything.

 

And it doesn't help that the most common Pokemon in Ubers completely and utterly walls it. Kyogre cares less about a burn, brings rain to destroy Sacred Fire, can scare Ho-oh away with STAB Surf or Water Spout, and on top of that can outspeed, assuming scarf. At least in the case of Deoxys-A, you can attempt to use Thunder and get some decent damage, or in the case of Rayquaza hopefully be at +1 and do an Outrage before dying. Ho-oh is completely walled by 'Ogre, which doesn't help its standings as an Uber.

 

Also, why is Wynaut Uber? I want it to be OU. D:<

Yes, but why in your right mind would you honestly have a Ho-Oh fight Kyogre? You don't send out a Deoxys to fight a Shedinja, do you? You don't send in any physical sweeper to contend with Giratina, do you?

 

Your logic for why you shouldn't use Ho-Oh is that it is walled, yes, by Kyogre. But Kyogre is its counter, so there's no reason it will be fighting Kyogre in the first place. Ho-Oh will be coming in when Kyogre is not out.

 

If Kyogre is still alive on the opponent's team when Ho-Oh shows its beak, guess what? Prediction just got easy, because guess what's probably switching in! That means our feathered friend can go with BB, or EQ if health is low, and then run away. Groudon will then switch in in all likelihood; Sunlight will neutralize the incoming Surf, and it's immune to Thunder if the whale decided to use that for whatever reason. Now Kyogre has to run because it's not so useful in Sunlight, giving Groudon a free whack at whatever's coming in. Dragon Claw is a decent bet to use, since it'll probably be something that floats over EQ.

 

Also, Ho-Oh doesn't need to get off a DD like Rayquaza does to be a threat, and I must once again stress the point that Physical Attackers will almost never switch into a Ho-Oh. So as long as Ho-Oh comes out first, Rayquaza is suddenly not quite so useful. My entire argument was most certainly not that it can just take a hit.

 

 

Dark, it seems to me that you're looking at this in a very individualistic viewpoint, when you should be considering the entire team. And frankly, from where I'm standing, Ho-Oh has more teamwork synergy with a few other Uber Tier mainstays than either Rayquaza (who gets nothing from any weather and doesn't really work in a team-minded sort of a way) or Deoxys (who, like Ray, doesn't really do much for the team on the whole aside from supplying sheer force).

Well, I can't decide yet. I usually base my choice on the exclusive legend. Dialga is more kickass than Palkia and Lugia is awesomesauce while Ho-oh isn't. <3

Anybody got an Adamant Spiritomb with some decent IVs?

 

Also, I'd quite like a battle on Shoddy if anyone's up for it. If on the other had I get hold of that Spiritomb, we could WiFi about 30 minutes later.

 

EDIT: Lost to and then beat Flame Dragon.
