Leturn Master
w/the new banlist:2 Cyber Dragons2 Dandylions2 Treeborn Frogs With "Caius" and "Raiza" being awesome cards on their own... would it be possible for Monarchs to move up a notch or two? Please enlighten me. I'm very inexperienced with these guys.
b0b3rt
They'll be better, but not top tier. BWs/X-Sabers will run over them.
Sephiroth_The_Legend
they lack speed. unless someone found a way to abuse Debris (i.e Cards of Consecration) or whatever is. once they find a viable draw engine, they'll be better..... but not yet. daboss144
Yeah, they will get better, and will be competative, but I don't see them topping at a regional or SJC any time soon.
Akira
I never play dedicated Monarch decks anymore, I just splash Caius in decks where it fits. That way you don't run the risk of horrible dead hands full of tribute monsters, and all the other Monarchs are inferior to Caius anyway.

That way you don't run the risk of horrible dead hands full of tribute monsters, and all the other Monarchs are inferior to Caius anyway.[/quote'] Raiza says hello Look at the way the game has turned out. Due to speed/draw power/ability to search, spinning a card doesn't do as much damage as it used to. If you target a Synchro that they may only run 1 copy of, you're doing them a favour by putting it back in the Extra Deck. Caius, on the other hand, outright removes the threat. For example, if you spin a Recruiter with Raiza, they can just set it again next turn and wait for you to attack it. Caius creates more pressure. Not to mention that DARK is oh so popular these days, so you're more than likely to get some burn damage thrown in the mix (not that important but has won me games in the past). Also, referring back to the Synchro example, it's a lot more beneficial to remove an opposing Synchro from play than Spin it (unless your opponent mains RftDD, which isn't common). EDIT: Don't forget those annoying limited-to-1-should-be-banned cards like DAD and Gorz. Wouldn't want to give them back to your opponent any time soon. Point taken, but Raiza is still quite runnable is he not?
Akira
Oh I'm not saying Raiza is bad. I just don't run it any more because he hasn't been that playable in the past few formats.

Master Hyperion
Apparently summoning a raiza' date=' chaning torrential, and topdecking your own Morphing Jar is a good thing! Who knew?[/quote'] Morphing Jar would already be destroyed by Torrential, since Raiza's effect is Chain 1 and TT is Chain 2, meaning Torrential goes of first. I've only just started a Monarch deck for the first time, with Level Eater and stuff like that to help give me Tributes. Sometimes it works out great, other times it is horrible x.o
Canadian
Monarch's would need witch of the black forest to move up more, but thats not gonna happen either. Whenever I run em, I find myself losing because I end up having 2 or 3 in my hand I cant get down. They still feel slow.

.Gideon.
Monarch decks are original. and in this game, Originality sucks, thanx to archtypes.this makes new players happy, but make us, old players, so so mad.
b0b3rt
Dandy is, but CyDra is still useful. It depends on the build, though.
Guest PikaPerson01
There's such a thing as a "monarch" deck? I thought it was a regular deck that just happened to have a few monarchs teched in it.
b0b3rt
Uh, yeah, there's such a thing as a monarch deck. It focuses on getting field advantage with treeborn, cydra, spirit reaper, soul exchange and the like.
Fraz
Dandy is' date=' but CyDra is still useful. The meta doesn't call for the need for cydra anymore.
DARKPLANT RISING
Let's say this card existed. Monarch SacrificeQuick SpellDiscard 1 monster with "Monarch" in its name. Draw 2 cards. Then Monarchs will be runnable. Now...? No. Not much drawing power.
