The Shadowed Ones: A Myth RP - Chapter IV: Descent into the Underworld [STARTED / Accepting]

Roland looked curiously at Britney as she left. "What a strange attitude. Hmm, well I guess it is my fault." He walked over to the trashcan and pushed the rest of his breakfast in. He walked to the archery range, tapping his wriststrap and a bow extended from it. He pulled a silver arrow from his quiver and aimed at the target.

 

He shot and hit the target, missing the bulls-eye by a few inches. "Hmm, I guess I should go to class..."

"I got one question. When do we leave." Jecht said smiling. "Well guys I'm gonna go pack anything we may need." Then he left to the Apollo dorm followed by Yukki and Dante to pack.

"Hey, have either of you been on a quest before?" Dante asked. Yukki and Jecht both shook their heads. "I wonder what its gonna be like."

Then another Apollo child walked up to them. "I heard you guys got a quest."

"And where did you hear that?" Yukki asked looking at him.

"Spying duh. Your really gonna fight Hercules? You guys are dead." He said staring at them. "It was nice knowin' ya."

Sitting on his bed, Carlos began to think hard. Chiron never answered his question. Which ment that, technically, he didn't have to go on this foolish quest. After all, it was suicide to try and get to the Graeae, let alone take on Herakles. But, if he didn't go, then the Iskios would be proven right. He would be a coward, just like his father. "No, no, don't think like that! That sort of thought is what got Jared dead." Carlos tried to sleep, but the thought of the lives of those Jared had saved going to waste kept him from Morpheus' sweet embrace. Rising, Carlos started to pack. He was a fool, but perhaps he wouldn't end up a dead fool. After all, Herakles was a Demigod too. One Demigod against six or so. The odds were in their favor.

Carmen sat on her bed, looking at her bag. She was only bringing a day pack, but it seemed that they would be gone for at least a few weeks, because this was a legendary weapon of a god, stolen by a demigod, who was killed by another demigod. "Herakles," Carmen said, thinking. Herakles was the Greek name for Hercules.

 

"How are we supposed to fight Herakles?" she said, banging her fists on the bed, causing two large burn marks to appear. Suddenly, she was glad she lived alone.

 

Achilleus was standing in the doorway, laughing to himself. "You know, you should probably keep those powers in check. They're probably a flare for monsters."

 

"Did you get the prophecy?" Carmen asked, surprised.

 

"Five will go to the Land of the Dead

Leave one behind for Morpheus' bed.

The four shall remain for the fallen god

One will move to travel abroad.

The three that will stay will find it that day.

But all three will have a debt to repay." Achilleus said, darkly. "Two of us will be lost..."

Name: Harry Darkhorse

Age: 14

Grade: 9

Personality: Stubborn, joyous. Loves to party.

God Parent: Dionysus (he has his own dorm, right?)

Biography: Harry grew up in Manhattan. His mother was always rich. Before she told him who his father was, she had pretended he was a rich wine merchant. Harry had travelled all over the world with her, and he never stopped enjoying the food and partying. As soon as he learnt that he was the son of a God, he realized it was Dionysus.

Appearance: Short and slightly chubby. He had black hair cropped short. His eyes were blue.

Preferred Weapon: Bow and Arrow

"This is boring," whispered Harry to a student next to him. They were in mythology class and the teacher was trying to explain the gods family tree.

 

"And so class, you can see that if you are Zeus' kid, you are also Apollo's half brother." The teacher tried to explain to the class.

 

"Like that was hard to figure out." grunted the student next to Harry.

[Theseus]

"Eh, I really don't find any of this interesting," Roland said, throwing his pencil in the air. "I'm a cousin of Apollo, big deal. If I was Apollo, that would be a different story."

 

Roland went into his normal daydreaming state that he entered whenever he wasn't sword fighting, but then, he would miss most of his lessons, but school lessons didn't really matter, unless you wanted to pursue a mortal career, which wouldn't be possible, as a son of one of the three sons of Kronos.

 

Carmen had her bag slung on her shoulder and was waiting by the gates of the school with Achilleus, who was standing in normal clothes, which was surprising, considering his shield and sword.

Jecht, Yukki, and Dante had their bags ready and ran up to Carmen and Achilleus up at the gates. "Hey! You guys ready to leave?" Jecht said feeling upbeat and ready to go. "Where are the other two guys?"

"I dunno, packin' I guess." Dante replied.

"Well I know that!"

"THen why'd you ask?!"

"It was a retorical question duh!

Then Yukki stepped in as always. "Would you two stop bickering?!" Then they both quit and just looked around and waited for Brian and Carlos.

Carlos emerged from his dorm. After some careful thought, he had packed a change of clothes, a week's supply of food (carefully salted so as not to spoil), and a small switchblade. If there was one thing he had learned living on the streets, it's that a switchblade can be one of the most useful tools a person can have. Strapped to his back was his staff. His pace towards the gate was slow and deliberate. Already he was beginning to regret choosing to come. But the choice had already been made. The die was cast, as it were. Reaching the gate, he turned to Achilleus, and grunted, "Don't these quest things usually come with some sort of prophecy, or atleast basic instructions?"

[Theseus]

OOC: Sorry, but only Jecht can go. The other two shouldn't technically exist since only the RP owner can create NPC's. The list of people going... Achilleus, Carmen, Jecht, Brian, and Carlos...

But all three will have a debt to repay." Carmen repeated from memory. "But, what I think is strange is the number of people that we'll be encountering. It says we'll at least go to Morpheus' chambers, find a fallen god, and we'll all have a debt to repay."

 

"No, it says the three left behind that find the weapon will have the debt. I think the first stop we should make is the Underworld, considering that's the first part of the prophecy," Achilleus said, "And Morpheus lives in the Underworld. There are many passages into the underworld, but the nearest one is just across state lines in Cumberland Caverns..."

 

"Cumberland Caverns?" Carmen asked, looking skeptical, "I'd just been there the weekend before I came to freshmen orientation as a present from my dad. You're saying that's an entrance to the Underworld?"

OoC:Well, why didn't you say that before????

 

IC: Jecht looked a little confused. "Five will travel to the land of the dead." He counted on his fingers but counted seven. "Well, I guess two of us can't go." He said looking at Yukki and Dante.

"Rock, paper, scissors?" Dante said, and Yukki and Jecht both nodded. Then they started playing rock, paper, scissors like three little kids trying to decide who goes first in a board game.

"I won!" Jecht said excitedly. "I never win."

"Oh shut up." Dante said looking a little mad he lost.

"Cheer up, Dante." Yukki said smiling. "Jecht'll send us some Iris messages won't you?" She asked.

"Of course I will."

[Theseus]

"Well, I thought we'd settle that. Any objections to them staying behind?" Achilleus asked the group at large. ((OOC: I'm pretending Brian's here now... It's getting annoying to wait for everyone to log on.)) When no one answered, Achilleus opened the gate, walking out of the school gates. Suddenly, the school vanished behind him.

 

"A cloaking from the outside," Achilleus explained to Carmen, who stared back at the open field. "It's still there. We should probably get a ride to the Caverns, considering it's a little over two miles away, by car." ((If anyone's wondering, this school is in Virginia, my birthing state.))

 

The Iskios still rang clearly in Carmen's mind. "What monsters will we be encountering?"

 

"Who knows?" the others said simulatneously.

Personality: Serious yet always ready to hear a joke. Very protective of his "sister".

God Parent: Apollo

Biography: Chris and Ava Lightseeker lived the first 8 years of their life together and happy, but then the Chimera came. It had smelled Chris and Ava and tracked them to their home. Chris and Ava's parents (who had really adopted them) tried to save Ava and Chris, but both were killed by the Chimera. Here, Chris and Ava's abilities activated, incinerating the Chimera in rays of light. Unfortuantely, this gave them away to all monsters near them. They have been on the run for the last 4 years, until finally, people from this school found them.

Appearance: Blond curly hair cut short, wary blue eyes, and a formerly scratched-up face that has been healed and once again becoming handsome. Said to look just like his father. Slim and tall, 4 years of running has given him a habit of looking over his shoulder constantly.

Other Details: Believes Ava is his sister, but really she's his cousin, a daughter of Artemis.

Personality: Bouyant and perky, Ava will disregard danger to save her friends, a fact that keeps her "brother" worried.

God Parent: Artemis

Biography: Chris and Ava Lightseeker lived the first 8 years of their life together and happy, but then the Chimera came. It had smelled Chris and Ava and tracked them to their home. Brian appeared suddenly from nowhere as he walked out of the gate behind the group. He scrolled through his phone. "And I have extra Ambrosi and Nectar in my phone..." Brian said as he walked up to the group of demigods looking through his phone and not looking up. He also noted his changes of clothes and the flying shoe closet he had from his father. "Oh," He exclaimed when he saw everyone standing around. "I'm...sorry I'm late." He said as everyone scowled at him. He pocketed his phone and looked at everyone standing around. "so who's ready to go? Oh and sorry i missed the prophecy can someone recite it for me?" He asked nervously to see if anyone's patience wore thin.

[Theseus]

"Sorry, but no," Achilleus laughed, "We're not in the protection of the gates of the school, so anyone could possibly hear us."

 

"Then why are we still talking?" Carmen asked, confused.

 

A man, invisible to the group, said quietly, "Yes, Achilleus, why not stop talking? You'd be a fool to test that magic barrier of the school."

 

A flash of black, and suddenly, a man in a full black suit with sandy hair was standing in front of him, his face clearly worn with scars and anxiety. "You've saved me a lot of trouble of breaking into the school. You see, I'm also searching for this legendary weapon you are, and oh yes," he said, seeing the shocked expression on Carmen's face, "I know all about this weapon. And you'll lead me to it."

 

"Great-Uncle H, didn't expect you yourself to be paying us a visit. Has Vasilias got you into his ranks now? I'd think that a Titan like yourself would stay in the shadows," Achilleus said, powerfully.

 

"You little brat," Great-Uncle H said, "Just because your dad is the sun now-"

 

"Hyperion, let's not get our temper out of hand," a girl's voice said, and she appeared behind the man suddenly, in his shadow. "Vasilias wouldn't like that at all. I've got a little debt to have with them... You see, they killed my sister."

Britney suddenly woke up, she had fallen asleep from thinking about things and she had fallen asleep from thinking too hard. "Wow i so need to stop thinking about things for a while, it so does get me knocked out" . Britney said as she got off her bed and walked around the school, wondering if she should go to class or if she sould go back to sleep. She began looking for the boy that she had been talking to during Breakfest.

Roland was practicing his skills with the bow, completely missing his target, but getting a bulls-eye in the next one over. "I meant to do that," he said, when the teacher raised an eyebrow at his less-than-perfect archery skills.

 

Roland looked up from his bow, and started to walk around, remembering that the girl who he had talked to earlier in the dining hall had been in the Hades dorm. "Strange. She seemed like such a nice girl. Maybe she's not Hades at all," he joked to himself. Roland ran into Britney, falling backwards and landing on his head.

 

"Sorry," Roland said, rubbing the dust of his back.

Hyperion was looking at the Iskios with anger, his hands bursting into flames. "Listen you shadow-girl. I'm light, get it? Light kills shadows."

 

"Such a hot temper, Hyperion," the Iskios giggling, as she stepped out from behind him, though shadows seemed to move with her, creating a sort of sun-blocking orb around her, though she was visible.

[Jakeronijo]

"what the heck how am i going to know it?" Brian exclaimed getting heated. "I Have a right to know." His sword appeared in his hand. "I don't want to skew it out of you." Brian hated being violent but when people got on his nerves he couldn't control it. He had the tip of his sword pointed at Achilleus and he quickly turned it into a phone, which he handed to Achileus. "At least type it into a word document, that way i can look at it later."

[Theseus]

Achilleus' ring turned into a large bronze sword, that instead of going into the demigod that was threatening him, turned to the Titan standing in front of him. "Listen, Hyperion, there's no reason for you to go over to Vasilias' side."

 

"I am Vasilias' right hand," Hyperion said proudly, "Light and Shadow working together. Against the gods and their little pets, the demigods. Now, if you don't want the sword to burn to a crisp, I'd point it at someone else."

 

"Brian, prophecies aren't to be discussed outside of the campus," Achilleus said, looking at Hyperion. "You'd be smart to come over to our side..."

 

"Your side?" Hyperion laughed, "Vasilias is building an army more powerful than that of Kronos! My brother would be proud to see his cousin achieve such great achievements, though unfortunately, some unkind gods cut him up and put him in Tartarus."

 

Hyperion, with a simple flick, sent Achilleus' sword flying, but suddenly, he reached for his necklace, causing a blinding light that made the shield around the Iskios vanish, and she started to burn in flames, though when she retreated into Hyperion's shadow, it stopped.

 

"I told you, Light and Shadow working together," Hyperion laughed, "Now, we're going to come with you, and we're going to retrieve that weapon."

Britney got up off the ground from being knocked down and she yawned a little. "No its alright it was my fault i wasn't paying attention and i was walking and omg i cant shut up right now come on i need to shut up dont mind me i never shut up im just a talkeer i just talk, tlk, talk, talk and talk and i never shut up and OMG i am shutting up right now" . Britney said as she covered her mouth and tryed to act like she wasn't blushing more than a guy that fell off a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Float right on live television.

Roland raised an eyebrow, "Are you alright? I was just going to go for some lunch, if you'd like to come with me."

 

Roland smiled as walked down the path, toward the dining hall. "You can stay here if you want to."

Hyperion walked behind the group, "Take a left here. I've got a car that can fit our needs."

 

The group took a left as directed by the Titan and found themselves staring at a black van with tinted windows and Carmen thought to herself how creepy that van would be if a Titan weren't driving. When Hyperion climbed in the driver's seat, the Iskios melted up in the seat next to him, looking smug and healthy, as though she weren't just burnt by a blazing light.

 

"Now, to Cumberland Caverns... And while we're there, picking up Uncle Tartarus won't be too bad."

 

OOC: Just saying, there's this really weird formation in the Cumberland Caverns that looks exactly like a person's face, but it's twenty feet tall, and all the way at the end of the hall, is a hand-shaped protuberance from the wall. I called it "Tartarus' hand" last time I went... :D

" Sure Lunch sounds like a good thing right now, i wonder why some of the students aren't here its like their gone on some little mission or something trying to find something like Indiana Jones something like that.............sorry if i sound kinda weird but im kinda loopy right now for some unknown reason but whatever maybe cause im just kinda hungry and i get mad loopy when i dont eat in a while so yeah whatever" . Britney said as she walked a little bit behind Roland.
