The Shadowed Ones: A Myth RP - Chapter IV: Descent into the Underworld [STARTED / Accepting]

Jared flipped forward over the ball of energy. "Listen, little boy," Jared said, putting his hand under Brian's chin. "There's no need to be so violent, trust me. Just killing this Jared boy won't stop me. I'm a shadow, and shadows can never die, as long as there is a light, but we also die in light."

 

Jared paused, his mind usurping control, "Brian, take Vida, and strike me with lightning. If you roast this body alive, they'll still be inside, but I'll die. It's the only way to imprison them. If my plan works, then we should be safe. But I've got a bad feeling-"

 

"Shut up, you stupid demi-god," Jared said to himself.

I knew it, Brian thought But how do i strike him with lightning Brian got an idea and bolted off running at the speed of sound. "Carmen we need your help." Brian said grabbing her hand before she could say anything (wherever she was.) Brian ran back. He doubted she would strike her own half brother but it was all he could think of. Brian ran around behind Jared and grabbed his arms. "Carmen you have to kill him, the shadow could destroy us all, he's fighting in there but we need to free him now." Brian said struggling to keep Jared still. Ill be gone before the lightning strikes just do it. Brian said begining to glow with blue energy.

[Theseus]

Carmen stood, in shock (literally. She had a glowing aura of red electricity) looking at Jared, whose eyes were flickering between a cloudy gray and his icy blue. He was being controlled by some sort of monster, and Brian needed to get rid of Jared.

 

"JUST DO IT ALREADY! I CAN'T HOLD ON MUCH LONGER!" Jared yelled, struggling to break free from Brian's grip, but also trying to succumb to it. He looked to be writhing in pain. Boss! his sword, Vida, said.

 

NOT NOW! Jared thought back, When Carmen tries to shock me, absorb the lightning and send all you have into me. It will char my body, though it won't destroy it to where the Iskios will be able to come back out.

 

Carmen raised her hand, the red lightning flowing to her hand in a condensed ball. Without thinking, the ball flew from her hand, hitting Vida and then, with an explosive blast of energy, Jared was a charred pile of flesh. Carmen looked at the sad remains, "We should burn him on the funeral pyres. The shadow won't survive the light of fire and the sun at the same time."

And so, Jared Black was dead, in the Underworld, standing before Minos, Rhadamanthys, Aeacus, being judged.

 

"There's not a spot on his record," Rhadamanthys said, looking over a keyboard, "He died in an attempt to keep his friends safe, even if that did mean having to never see them again. True heroics."

 

Minos made a grunting noise in his throat, "No blemishes? What about last year?"

 

Aeacus, who look tired, stared at Jared with no particular interest. "Jared Black, son of Zeus, you are being judged. Do you have any comments to make before we sentence you?"

 

"No, sirs," Jared said, nodding at each of them.

 

"Well, I believe Elysium is his place," Aeacus said, looking at Jared. "I'm sure there's enough room for him, Rhadamanthys?"

 

"Yes, there is, and I agree," Rhadamanthys, the leader of Elysium said.

 

"Fine, he can go," Minos said, looking bitterly at his clipboard.

Ross had been watching the whole battle, wanting to help but knowing that it would only make things worse. He had seen Iskios before. Iskios. He could have destroyed her. He was as much a shadow as she was. But he didn't. Why? Ross knew what would have happened in both scenarios. He had had a vision about it last night. That couldn't be possible. But it was. Ross had seen the future. He sprinted back toward campus to calm down, tonight had been eventful.

"Well, this has been a rather sorrid turn of events." Carlos simply stood there, shaking his head. "Jared, Jared, Jared . . . you are such an idiot. Now what are we going to do? Big old Sky Daddy won't be to happy about this." Carlos gazed around at the others who had payed witness to the destruction of Jared Black. "So, who wants to tell the teachers? I'm certainly not."

Jecht looked at him. "Not me bro. Rouge'll think I killed him. We could have an archery contest." He said with a smirk but it quickly faded as he looked dead body. "I can't believe he sacrificed himself for us. Zeus demigods are always so brave. A lot more than some Janus demigods that I know." He said glaring at Carlos. "I wouldn't call him an idoit if I were you, we all be dead if it weren't for him. Show some respect."

Brian brushed the chared pieces of cloth from his shirt. His clothes were singed but he hadn't been harmed too much. "Okay." Brian said lifting the body and helping Carmen carry it to the funeral pyres. It was sad. Jared seemed like a nice kid even if he was a son of Zeus. And maybe not all children of Zeus were all bad. Brian thought looking at Carmen for the first time since he had rushed her off to kill her brother. Yea, maybe we can be friends when this all blows over...

Jecht, Yukki, and Dante all walked with Brian and Carmen, in respect for Jared. Jecht had his bow raised, Yukki her dagger, and Dante in his sword like an escort for them. They all looked sad like someone just died. ((lol)) Which they did even though they didn't know Jared they felt sad that he sacrificed himself for them. "He's going to Elisyum." Jecht said confidentally as they arrived at the funeral pyres,

For some reason Ross hadn't gone back to campus. He needed to talk to the people who had seen him die. "You're absolutely correct." Ross said to Jecht, coming out from behind the trees.

"He's in Elysium right now. And it's not me being confident. I know. I saw him."

Ross left.

"And who was that?" Carlos wondered aloud. Peculiar people had been showing up all over the place lately. "Well, if none of you are going to tell the teachers, I suppose I'll have to. After all, if Jared just doesn't show up to classes tommorrow, there's definatly going to be some questions asked. And if there's one thing I don't think any of us want right now, it's questions being asked." With a nod to each of them, and a slight bow to Carmen, Carlos began to march off towards the Headmaster's office. Today was going to be a long day indeed.

"Jared Black is dead, eh?" the headmistress said, pacing her office after Carlos told her. "This is a very bad circumstance, if an Iskios has been spotted on campus. The Iskios... What did she look like? Shadowy dress, black hair, and cloudy eyes? That's very bad indeed."

 

Chiron stood in the corner, looking anguished. "Rouge was what he was worried about at dinner, and in the end, he died. That's a poor shame. His soul rests in Elysium now, or so I've been told."

 

A bright light appeared in the center of the room, but it stopped suddenly. A man in a postal worker's outfit with a flying cap and shoes stood in front of them, holding a caduceus. "Yes, yes, I see," he said, talking to the snakes.

 

He looked at everyone in the room. Carlos, the headmistress, and Chiron were in low bows. "I've brought a message from Zeus to Chiron. Chiron you are to make a border control immediately. The death of my son is a deep sorrow, but if an Iskios is truly behind it, we've got higher problems than my son dying. Now, Chiron, Hermes will give you a package for the headmistress and your eyes only."

"I take it that now would be a good time to make my exit. Hermes, always a pleasure. Give my condolences to Zues." Carlos returned to his dorm. After a night like that, he really needed some rest. Hopefully, with Chiron setting up a border patrol, no more monsters would be able to sneak in. Getting jumped in the middle of the night by something with three heads or more was not high on Carlos' to do list. Climbing into bed, Carlos quickly fell into a deep, deep sleep. No dreams from Morpheus tonight.

The morning bell rang shortly after Carlos went to sleep, waking all the students up to go to breakfast. Carmen, Brian, and the others were exempt from classes for the rest of the week, but Carmen had been offered sword fighting lessons, so she could protect herself. The sword instructor, Kratos, the god of power, was going through the basics of sword fighting.

 

"Well, little girl, first we've got to find a sword that's balanced for you," Kratos said, pulling out his own sword, which seemed to glow faintly with power. "You need to find a sword that you can hold and swing easily. I've had a few students lose more than a limb using an unbalanced sword. Maybe you've got your own already?"

 

"No, sir," she said, shaking her head. Kratos scared her, because of his huge muscle and scars on his body. He wore full Greek battle armor at all times, including at dinner, where he would sit in silence at the end of the staff table.

 

"Well, then, I've got a few swords for you to try," Kratos sighed, pulling out a few different objects. A pocketknife, a pen, a ring, like Jared's, and a small spray bottle of perfume. "These are all swords, in disguise. It would be bad to go onto a mortal bus with a weapon, wouldn't it?"

"The bell already? Its gonna be hard to go through the day without sleep." Jecht said complaining. Yukki and Dante nodded and argreed.

 

"We've been exempt from our classes. Did ya hear." Dante said sitting down beside Jecht who was eating some bacon and eggs.

 

"Really? Why's that." He said through bites of a sunny side up egg.

 

"I dunno I think it has something to do with what happened to Jared and everything." Dante replied. "What are we gonna do all day?"

[Theseus]

Carmen sat down at lunch with the rest of those who had seen Jared's death, and Chiron came trotting over, looking grave. "You five, please come with me." Jecht, Dante, Brian, Carmen, and Carlos followed Chiron into the front hall of the main school building.

 

"There has been a grave occurrence to deal with the Iskios you encountered last night. An old god of forgotten lore, Vasilias, is rising in power. He was an old god of shadows, a brother of Erebus. He is one of the most powerful enemies of the Titans came to power, because he wanted to have the throne after his nephew, Ouranos, died. He is also the uncle of Erebus' children with Styx, the Iskios," Chiron explained. "We've got a feeling this forgotten god, Vasilias, the Shadow King, will try to usurp the thrones of the Olympians. You five have shown power in dealing with shadows, though."

 

"Excuse me, Chiron, but I think I'd better assist them," a boy said, leaning against a column, his body slim and slender. "Light creates Shadow. Shadow is destroyed by Light. There's no way around that you've got to have Light. My father, Apollo, is the god of Light, and I possess a powerful piece of weaponry against said shadows."

 

"And that would be what, Achilleus?" Chiron sighed.

 

"This necklace, actually," Achilleus said, holding up a little bronze pendant, with diamonds set around a small black stone. "Ilio, Divine Light."

 

"Fine, you six will need to fetch a very powerful weapon, one that Kratos used to use. But unfortunately, it moves hands with the master. A son of Hermes stole it some three thousand years ago, and now, Kratos needs the weapon to help fight," Chiron said, "But there is a tiny hint about where it is. It can only be transferred from person to person by theft, or by defeating the previous owner. The problem there is, the person who defeated this son of Hermes, long ago, was... Herakles."

Ross had been listening to the conversation from the shadows. He had made up his mind and he was going to follow the 6 on their quest. From the shadows. Maybe then Hades would think he was worthy enough to be his son. Ross snuck out of the room and went to the arena to get a sword. He would need it. He picked out a pretty simple black sword that he had been swinging around the day before. He pressed a button on the hilt, and the sword shrunk to an iPod. He put it in his pocket and walked out of the arena grinning.

Britney sat down and began eating her breakfest. Her hat covered her light blue eyes which when you get stared at, it feels like Medusa is staring at you. She kept looking around at the many moving faces and the many people that walked around her. "Don't worry me just keep looking forward and keep your cool you dont wanna have a repeat of the 6th grade, stupid Molly Pitcher talking about me" . Britney said as she remembered those days when she was a younger kid. SHe was always taunted as a child as her mother died when she was about 12 so she had to learn to take care of herself at a young age.

[Theseus]

"Do you mind me sitting here?" a voice asked behind Britney. A boy from the Poseidon dorm, with black hair and bright green eyes looked at Britney with interest. He sat down beside Britney and ate his breakfast, looking around. "You know, I haven't seen Jared Black at all since dinner last night. What do you suppose happened to him?"

 

Achilleus sat down in the middle of the foyer, pulling out a knife that flew out into a celestial bronze blade.

"Wait your saying were gonna have to try and get it from Hercules? That's like insane. The lengendary Hercules versus some kids?" Jecht said in desbelief.

Dante agreed with him. "Yeah man were gonna be like, like, I don't even know what were gonna be like."

"You guys aren't scared are you?" Yukki asked with her hands on her hips. "Afraid of a little challenge?"

Jecht and Dante looked at each other and then back at her. "Yep." Dante said plainly and bluntly.

"You got us pinned." Jecht replied back smiling. "Well, I'm not lettin' Yukki go alone."

"You know I'm going, 'cause I know Jecht gonna mess something up."

"Hey!" Jecht said quickly then paused. "Yeah, I'm gonna mess something up, like I always do. Remember my first time in archery class?" Then they both busted out laughing.

"I don't know what happened to him but i bet you he probably disappeared or died or something....or he could be sick and i am just over reacting to him not being here right now...oh well i aint caring right now all i care about is trying to not lose my cool and almost kill them out of anger and frustration" . Britney said as she ate some of her eggs. She looked up at the Poseidon kid, her hat covering her eyes. She pulled her hat up to show her piercing light blue eyes. "So whats your name, mines is Britney"

"My name is Roland Peaks," he said, smiling. "It's nice to meet you, Britney. I really wouldn't be surprised if Jared was dead. I heard that Carmen girl talking about Jared and crying before Chiron led them away. He even mentioned Jared mournfully. Well, who's your immortal parent?"

 

Roland didn't seem to notice how piercing Britney's eyes were as he picked another sausage of his plate and put it in his mouth. "But, Jared was my cousin, sort of, so I should be going to the funeral if there is one? I wonder what killed him..."

Brian twiddled nervously with his thumbs. "So were doing what now?" He asked looking at Dante and Jetch nervously. "And how did I get involved in all this?" He thought back to the previous night when he had held JAred back for Carmen to blast him. "Oh yea..." He said rubbing his chin. "Well how are we supposed to find this, weapon....What is it exactly?" He said looking for a response. "Isn't Hercules dead, he should be in the..." Brian gulped. "Underworld..."

"And further more, what If I don't exactly feel like taking part in this little quest?" Carlos had been standing in the back of the room. leaning against a wall. Now he straightened up, staring Chiron in the eyes. "I personally can see why this . . . Vasilias? would want to take over. Being the son of a Minor God, I can only imagine what being forgotten altogether might be like." It is hard to tell whether Carlos was being serious or not. The glint in his eye suggested otherwise, but his posture was disturbingly solid. Almost a different Carlos from the fearful child on the battlefield last night.

[Theseus]

Achilleus smiled, "No one ever said Hercules wasn't defeated. I believe there's only one person that can tell us that. Or rather, people. The Graeae, the Gray Ladies, can see the future, and they can guide us, essentially. But they never really like to give away information. And there is one person who's weaseled out information before. Perseus."

 

Roland laid back his left hand under his chin. "Broken hearts suck."

"You gotta broken heart, who did something horrible to you or are you saying just in general that broken hearts suck in general, why you asking so many question huh, you stawlking me boy cause if i find out you stawlking me ima get you boy" . Britney said as she defensivly took her things and walked away to throw her breakfest away. She then went back to the Hade's and layed down onto her bed to sit their and try to think things through.
