You were signed up to go to the Academy of Athena, an exclusive private school, on a full-paid scholarship, and now, you're finding out just how hard the classes are. Archery, Gardening, and Swordfighting are just some of the classes that are mandatory for students to talk, but the dorm rooms seem just as confusing, considering there's twelve, and you're in the biggest one, dedicated to Hermes, the messenger god.

 

And the worst part, you were expecting this. One of your parents is a Greek god, so this was inevitable.

Personality: Shade is calm for the most part, looking at things clearly and not caring much about how others see him or act around him. However, he has a fiery temper that can be coaxed out rather easily, either by threatening him directly, directly threatening anyone he calls a friend, or just plain picking him long enough. And when he does finally lose control, he's liable to tear whoever happens to be the object of his anger to shreds.

[spoiler=Biography:] Shade was conceived when Ares came to earth and was seduced by a human woman (Shocker, huh?). It was his father who chose the name, seeing a darkness within his son that even his mother could sense. Shade was given up for adoption by his human mother and he never knew her. He grew up in an orphanage, never knowing anything about Camp Half Blood or anything about his past. He didn't even know his father was Ares until his thirteenth birthday when he learned that he had been signed up to attend the Academy of Athena. Even then, he didn't know anything about who his father was until he was flat out told by one of the teacher, specifically the one through whom he had been accepted into the Academy. The only reason he could ever think of their knowledge of him was a certain occasion when he completely tore the arm off of one of the other children in the orphanage, particularly one who happened to be about three times his size.

Other Details: Shade's weapon is a sort of gift from his father and, therefore, has unique properties. A weapon that Ares went through the trouble of convincing Hephaestus to forge. The weapon always burns with the heat of the forge in which it was created, but still remains as solid and elegant as any sword would be.

Personality: Cold and calm most times, has an extremely violent temper which, slow to build, is often highly destructive when it reaches its boiling point. Likes to taunt others into fighting him. Has a sarcastic and dark humor, often replying even to kindness with a scathing comment.

God Parent: Ares. Raised by a kind mother and a verbally abusive stepfather.

Biography: Raised by his mother, a kind woman who has a tendency for violent men, he grew up with a seething hatred of his stepfather, planning to kill him since the age of 15. He finally realized his odd origins when fighting a trio of drunk college students, and one pulled a knife. He retaliated by breaking the man's arm and stabbing him in the groin with his own knife, repeatedly. Was allowed to go free after it was ruled self-defense, but not without some community service. Was only recently recruited to Athena Academy.

Appearance: Shoulder length black hair, short, thin beard going halfway down neck, steel gray eyes, muscular, 6' 2" tall.

Preferred Weapon: A large Zweihander, made by a friend related to Hephaestus, made to be extremely light (relatively speaking) because of its odd nature at the Academy, also made to be nearly unbreakable, and transforms into a small silverish band around the middle finger, turns into sword form by squeezing two opposite spots, each marked by a miniature sword symbol.

Other Details: Ironically, a bookworm, spending many hours in the library growing up, also developed a deep love of strategy and tactics, devoting countless days to understanding the psychology needed to plan properly.

Personality: Jecht is usally a very calm and sometimes sarcastic person but is very quick to anger. He is filled with self-pride, and overconfidence. He usally doesn't accept help

unless it is nessacary and even then he doesn't like it. He can be very loyal to his closest friends and very lethal to his enimies but loves romance.

God Parent: Apollo.

Biography: Jecht had a single mother who he never saw because she was always working. He has always been fasinated with bow and arrows and such. Just two years ago Jecht's mother was feeling guiltly about lying to him about his father and broke down and told him everything. At first he didn't believe it until he was sent to the Academy of Athena. He has now accepted his origin and is trying to do the insane classes.

Personality: Carlos is, well . . . Best described as bi-polar. His mood swings are legendary among those who know him. One day, he’ll be nice, respectful, and generally well-meaning. The next, he’ll want to kill everyone around him. The day after that, he’ll want to kill himself. One thing that is always consistent about Carlos, however, is the extremeness of his attitude. He is always one way or the other, never in the middle. This applies to his world view as well. Everything is one or the other, black or white, good or evil, fish or fowl. There is no room for those who walk the middle road in Carlos’ world. Not only is there no room, they don’t exist. Those that claim to take such a path are lying, and probably bad news.

God Parent: Janus, Roman god of Doors and Time

Biography: Carlos grew up in Spain, near the formation known as the Pillars of Hercules. His mother passed away in childbirth, and he never knew his father. He grew up as the leader of a gang in his small town, terrorizing the citizens, and always staying one step ahead of the cops. He owed this to a small pre-perception, the ability to perceive things as they will be, not as they are. He knew when the cops would come, so his gang moved before then. When he turned 15, he received a visit from his father, Janus. Needles to say, Carlos at first did not believe the man. After all, A) Why and how could his father find him here and now, of all places, and B) This man had two faces. However, Carlos was in some trouble with his second-in-command, a fiery 14-year-old named Emmanuel, and took this opportunity to leave before things got rough. Janus sent Carlos to the Academy of Athena, among Janus’ Greek cousins. Janus hopes the Academy will know what to do about Carlos’ mood swings . . .

Biography: Jason grew up in Italy, which is very close to Greece. Although he has never been there before, he has always felt some strong connection to the place that he could never explain. He never actually knew his mother; his father just kept telling him that they had divorced, and that she had left them for a better man and child. When he was called to go to the Academy of Athena, he couldn't believe it. If he was called there, then that must mean he had a Greek god or goddess for a parent!

Jared had a strange encounter at the stables, and has acted strangely since, though his sword Vida, knows what's wrong with him. A group of students are planning to play a prank on Mr. Rouge, the teacher who gave the troublemakers above a detention.

Jared Black sat in the back of Freshman Orientation, looking around. A few of the children sitting in this room, shivering with excitement, would be moved into his dorm. Fifteen years previously, Zeus was being punished by some of the other gods, for swearing by the Styx that he would sire any more children, after Jared was born, but the punishment had worn out now, and he would be less lonely, with the freshmen.

 

"Oi, mate," a voice said from behind him. Chris Rider, a senior, the class representative for Poseidon Dorm, was sitting behind his cousin, Jared. "D'you mind scooting over? The little confusion over there. Someone was claimed. Darn, Morpheus child. He goes to the minor god dorm."

 

Every year, at least one minor god would claim their child early in the ceremonies, just to cause some stir, and it had become somewhat of sport for them. They'd loved to cause trouble for the Olympians, who normally only claimed the strongest of their children, but that wasn't saying much. Eventually, the child would show adeptness in one of their parents skills. Just last year, the botany lab had been overrun with grape vines when a child of Dionysus got angry.

Jecht walked into the freshman oreintaion. Of course he wasn't a freshman but every once and a while there would be a be choatic thing and he wanted to see if it would happen this time. He saw someone sitting down. Jecht had seen him around before, a son of Zeus. If you have powerful friends, you have power, so he walked over to Jared. "Hey! Name's Jecht. Jecht Whysu, proud son of Apollo." He said holding out his hand out.

Jason entered the orientation, following Jecht. Jecht walked up to another kid, so Jason followed. Hearing the kid's introduction, Jason decided to stand back, and wait for the other kid to introduce himself; they were both older than him, and probably stronger too. He looked around, and gave a sigh of resignation. He didn't see any other kids that were the same age as him, and he couldn't recognize anyone from the year before. This was going to be a tough year.

"Hi," Jared said, waving at Jecht confusedly, "Apollo's Dormhead is already here. Yeah, umm, hello, Jecht. Jared Black, son of Zeus, one of the last left in the school before two."

 

Jared sat back down, talking to a son of Hades, who seemed to be in a bad mood. "Eh, you'll get over it. Not all of Hades' are hated by everyone else," Jared said to the freshman who looked scared, "And if any of the other Poseidon or Hades kids makes fun of you, just come to me. I'll fry them alive."

 

Jared looked around. He was still on probation for singing a student last year with his powerful lightning, so if he had gotten in another fight, he'd be expelled. But Jared wouldn't stand for people making fun of his cousins, especially since they were such a tightly-knit family, except when Jared took the ninth-year trip to Olympus and Hera saw him...

Biography: Grew up with his mother in an appartment building in San Francisco until he was 13. He needed to know who his father was, and left his mother to find him. When he was younger, he got expelled from schools because of his classmates accidently getting attacked by the dead. Ross is still unsure who his father is, but after being taken in by the Academy of Athena, suspects it's Hades.

Appearance: 5'7 with black hair, dark eyes, and a dark overall appearance.

Biography: Grew up with his mother in an appartment building in San Francisco until he was 13. He needed to know who his father was, and left his mother to find him. When he was younger, he got expelled from schools because of his classmates accidently getting attacked by the dead. Ross is still unsure who his father is, but after being taken in by the Academy of Athena, suspects it's Hades.

Appearance: 5'7 with black hair, dark eyes, and a dark overall appearance.

Ross was leaning against a wall in the corner of the room, watching the confusion. What a year this will be... he thought. But I've got to find out who my father is. I'm pretty sure it's Hades, but I don't know. He hasn't given any sign or anything... He sighed. I hope this school will at least seem normal. Other kids with powers like mine. Except they caan control theirs. Ross went over and found an empty seat to sit down in.

Shade calmly walked into the freshman orientation. He didn't really care much about it, but he wanted to see if there were any other brothers or sisters this year. He couldn't see any from where he was standing, which was fine by him. One thing that people had learned when he was first brought into the Academy was that he had a nasty habit of getting into fights with his half-siblings. He turned his head and saw a few students gathered around with each other. Taking an interest he made his way over to the group.

 

Upon reaching the group of Jared, Jecht, and James (The three J's) he simply looked from one to the other. One thing that Shade had an uncanny knack for was showing up at the exact right time to learn who people were. He managed to show up right as Jecht introduced himself as Apollo's son and inferred, based on the way he was talking to the freshman son of Hades(By the way, Hades is faithful to Persephone and in fact the only Greek God faithful to their wife), that he was a son of Zeus. This brought a slight smirk to his face as he thought of just how many children the King of the Gods had fathered.

 

Finally, he decided to introduce himself, his eyes a bright green which would shine in any amount of light. He casually saluted the three before him with his right middle and index finger. "Shade, son of Ares." Even though he didn't say it, one could tell by his tone that he was very proud of his heritage. At least he knew who one of his parents was.

"And that concludes our freshman services, please enjoy yourself at the school. Any undetermined students, please file in line to go to the Hermes dorm," the principal said, looking over the crowd, "And please, if you have been determined, or know your immortal parent, please step in the line guided by the Student Council Representative of that dorm. Zeus' children, please file in line behind Jared Black..."

 

One child stood, her black hair like Jared's. She was new to the school, Jared knew, but she wasn't in the seventh grade. Her powers had obviously just come to full, because all around her glowed with electricity. She stepped over to Jared. She was Jared's age, no doubt. "You're Jared Black?" she asked, looking him up and down, "Not much are you?"

 

Jared's eye twitched, and he pointed his finger at her, the tip an inch away from her forehead, and a large static shocked flowed from him. She didn't react at all, unlike most students, because her uncontrollable lightning threw Jared back through the doors. "Ow," he said, rubbing his neck. "Keep your powers in line."

Jason saw that the kid, who he had heard say his name was Jared, was talking to a new freshman. Jason figured that he would get friendly, and try to make the freshman feel more at home. He walked up, and sat in front of the new freshman. He turned around in his seat, and smiled at the freshman. "Hey, kid," he said friendlily, "I'm Jason Clawborne. I know, I may look weird, and a little scary, but please don't be afraid of me." Then he turned to Jared. "Hey," he said. "Name's Jason."
