Discussion: Jar of Greed

Recommended Posts

I'm happy to see no one brought up Reckless Greed...

This is actually better.

When you say "this", I hope you're referring to Jar of Greed

Reckless Greed can lead into Reckless Gameplay for someone trying to hit it big and screw them over big time the next two turns. I mainly never use it because of this kind of temptation.

I guess that's more an issue on the player's part than the card itself, but knowing this is all the ammunition you have for the next two turns, it just feels very bad :3c

What else would he be referring to? The only other draw card mention was Upstart Goblin, which is still better than Reckless Greed anyway.

It's not that I don't understand the bait destruction strategy, it's just that it's too slow. I'd rather draw a card "now" and proceed with my strategy, than to waste time attempting to gain a +1.

i didnt really understand the other two, so i'm just going to respond to the bait removal, which is a valid argument. upstart cant do that, true, but it can actually be used on your turn. neither upstart nor jar should be used outside of various alternative win/otk decks. the one exception i can think of is tethys. and i'm iffy about using it with her anyway.

all that being said, upstart is still the +0 of choice used in any alternativewin/otk deck. its just faster. i havent seen a deck run jar of greed in ages.

DERP, NECKLACE GREED, BAR OF GREED, AND DUMPSTER GOBLIN ARE TERRIBLE COMPARED TO POT OF GREED!

On-topic: Not a fan of Jar of Greed. I dislike it.

Decent card. Its best use is as a S/T lure.

Know what else is an S/T lure? Threatening Roar. Raigeki Break. Waboku. The Spiritual Arts. Etc.

Point being?

He must mean that letting your opponent waste a card doesn't make Jar of Greed decent, and I pretty much agree. A lot of traps these days do that.
