Dark Lightning
Daisuke still watched this battle from afar. He looked down at his pokedex as it registered each of the pokemon that were seen in the battlefield. He smiled and got excited"Ya see that, Arc? One day, we will also battle in a tag battle..." he said, his gaze still fixed on the battle that was happening nearby. Arcanine nodded in agreement with his master. "And just look at all those amazing pokemon! Not as amazing as you, of course, but they are still pretty awesome..." he said, looking down at Arcanine. Time Psyduck
Tim sat on the ledge, watching the duel. Well, he didn't have anything else to do, or at least nothing that didn't involve getting past a guy who though pokémon went shoe shopping. The maybe gym leader was using a Dratini, which made sense for a Dragon-type leader, but the other three contestants were using Fighting-types - Her partner had a Riolu whereas their opponents had a Machop and Makuhita, which both lived in the wild in this region. So those kids are probably local, he mused, but who's the other guy. His face looks familiar...I think I may have seen him back home, but I don't know though. Littleroot maybe? Then again, it's more likely he came for a pokémon from Rowan at some point. A lot of them do, it wouldn't be strange.
Skarlet
The Eggsecute stared across the arena at Geodude, this action was mirrored by the trainers. Timmy didn't flinch, niether did Roxanne."Eggsecute!" get some cover and use Leach Seed! The egg-like cluster responded to Timmy's instruction by hopping behind a rather large rock and firing volley of seads toward Geodude!"Dodge it and use Rock Throw!" Roxanne shouted, Geodude pushed down on the ground and launched it's self away from the seeds, that exploded into paracitic vines on contact with the grounf. Then, the Rock-type used rock throw, sending a massive stone hurtling through the air! "Eggsecute! scatter!" The pokemon scattered it's multiple anatomies, and the rock crashed down between them. "Now! move again, get more cover, keep moving around!" The pokemon began once again to "hop" to a new position."Tackle." Roxanne said calmly."GeeeoooooDUDE!" The rocky pokemon colided head to... well eggsecute. with the Timmy's Pokemon, sending it flying. It landed behind a smaller rock, still visible, eggsecute was in trouble. apparently knowing what to do, Geodude used Rock Throw again. This time the rock was right on target, sending members of eggsecute's body flying every which way as it cahed straight down on top of them. Timmy smiled, this was a great oppertunity. "Suround it and use Hypnosis!" Timmy's Eggsecute had the advantage of being a pokemon consitant of multiple mobile parts, rarely would this come into play, but here it was, they surounded the Geodude, hopping between the rocks. an impressed, and worried look on the face of Roxanne confirmed to Timmy that this was a great move. Geodude's eye darted as it tried to spot the Eggsecute, and suddenly, it was all around him, emerging from the rocks, into the center of the arena, Eggsecute tried to avoid Hypnosis by turning away, but no matter where it looked there was another eggsecute part. finally, it colapsed into sleep. "Now! Finish it! Leach Seed!" Once again a volley of seeds flew, and burst into parasitic vines, engulfing geodude in a red glow. sapping it's strength.until it was not just asleep, but also unconcious. Yoko Kurama
Bridger had defeated the young boy and his elektrike. He didn't feel all to proud considering the ease of the battle. Bridger wandered closer to the town, only running into 1 other pokemon. He stumbled across a Pachirisu who basically did the same thing as the young boys elektrike. Bridger prevail using Espeons blitz, but again Nidoking had failed him against an electric type. Bridger wasn't worried. As he approached the gym, he gave himself a pep talk. "You got this man, in the bag. Watch out for those long range fire attacks. Keep low. Now." He entered the door. Immediately the heat from the gym hit him, and made him feel a little weak. He took deep breathes. He approached Flannery, and asked her to a match. She nodded and it began.
Clair
OoC: Sorry guys. Waiting for Spartan. ^^ Suddenly, Clair noticed a glint in Dratini's eyes. As if they could communicate telepathically, Gym Leader and Pokemon nodded at each other. Clair smiled at the Makuhita owner, who shifted uneasily. "Whatcha lookin' at?" he snarled accusingly. "Makuhita, pound that worm into the ground!" Makuhita pumped itself up and ran towards Dratini, it's beefy arms raised... "Dratini! Use Twister!" The white orb on top of Dratini's head suddenly lit up, and it launched itself gracefully in the air, gyrating at an abnormally fast rate. Wicked winds blew around the battlefield, and Clair laughed as her cloak blew about in the breeze. Makuhita started to stumble, and unable to keep his footing, flew back, hitting his trainer square in the face, causing them both to fall to the ground in a heap. Warwolf121
"Your Pokemon are done healing. Here you go." said the cheery Nurse Joy as she handed Jared three pokeballs. "Remember, do your best to keep your Pokemon healthy." she said in a very excited way. Jared called out Ralts as he knew that the Pokemon hated being inside of its Pokeball. "Ralts, how bout we go see Flannery about teaching Numel Overheat." Ralts replied with a non-caring sigh, to show that he really wanted to practice using his own techniques, and not watching some dumb camel, shot fire from its hump. "Ralts you gotta be more supportive of your team members. Besides, Numel needs some new tricks up his sleeve. You have quite a few to get us through a few contests. Now lets go." Jared walked inside the very hot gym. He looked to see that Flannery had been challenged by some trainer. "Looks like we're going to have to wait until after this battle, before we even think about trying to teach Numel Overheat, but this could be interesting to watch, and I might get a few ideas to use in my next contest." Jared sat down in the bleachers so that he could see the showdown getting ready to occur.
Spartan919
Jason watched in awe as Clair's Pokemon battled. Woah, that is some serious training she must have done...But I'm not so bad either! Jason turned back, and faced his Riolu, watching as she battled relentlessly with the enemy Machop. "Riolu, use your special move!" Riolu gave a slight nod, acknowledging, and then backed away from the Machop. The kid who owned the Machop sneered. "Whatcha runnin' from, huh?" Jason didn't answer keeping a grim look on his face. Riolu stopped moving suddenly. She held her hands out, as if copying the moves from some old anime. Just then, Jason grinned. "Now, Riolu! Focus Blast!" Riolu squinted her small eyes, and yelled out, "Rioluuuu!" A huge shockwave exploded out of her palms, and rammed into the Machop. It was sent flying, and smashed into a tree. Clair
Clair's eyes widened as she saw the power of Riolu's Focus Blast. Makuhita and his trainer were out cold, and Machop was not moving. The battle had been won. "Dratini! Return!" she called, and Dratini disappeared in a flash of red light, back in the confines of her Ball. Clair then turned to Jason, and cracked a smile. "Nice battling out there. You're quite a skillful Trainer..." She pointed to Oldale Town, straight ahead. "We've finally arrived! I'm looking forward to some rest." Suddenly, Clair whipped around, and the boy who was creeping up to her pounced, snatching the PokeBall containing her Dratini. "Hey!" Clair shouted with surprise, but the boy was already running towards the woods, guffawing, leaving his partner behind in the dust. "Can't continue your journey without a Pokemon!" he taunted. Clair was enraged. Whipping off her black cape, she turned to Jason. "Wait right here!" she ordered. She then threw the cape into his arms and sprinted after the retreating child, who let out another hyena laugh.
Spartan919
Jason simply nodded as Clair ran off after the boy. You'll get Dratini back...I know you will, Clair. Jason shifted his feet. He was feeling such strange things around Clair; things the likes of which he had never experienced before. In confusion, Jason shook his head, then hung Clair's cape on the tree. He turned to his Riolu, who was lying in an exhausted heap where he had used the attack. "You did good, girl," he said, pulling out his Pokeball. He remembered, with a flash of panic, that the other boy had not run off like his partner. "We'll get you better." He held out his Pokeball, and a beam shot out, enveloping the Riolu. "Return, Riolu." Without warning, Jason felt a sharp pain in the back of his head. He fell back, knocked unconscious. The other boy sniggered ("Nyeh-heh") and snatched Jason's Pokeball. "Thanks, twad!" he called out, running in the direction of his partner.
Clair
The boy had nervously slowed to a walk. He didn't hear the Gym Leader behind him anymore, and that made him uneasy. Clutching the stolen Ball, he pushed his way through the foliage, arriving at a heavily wooded lake bed. "That Gym Leader is so stupid," he sneered. "Dragon Master, my..." Suddenly, Clair dropped out of the tree overhead. She had been following the boy along the treetops this whole time, landing gracefully. The boy could only squeak as the determined Clair strode up to him and wrestled her Pokemon from his grasp. With a hint of malice in her eyes, she grabbed the boy roughly by the collar. "Why did you do that?" she hissed, trying to keep her temper under control. "Be-ecause you deserved it," the boy stammered. "This is Hoenn turf." Disgusted, grasping his coat, Clair swung the boy into the lake. "Help!" cried the boy. "I can't swim!" "Learn," Clair spat. She knew that the "lake" was only two feet deep. Smiling, she returned to the gathering spot. "Where's Jason?" she wondered, and looking down, she got her answer. "...Jason! Are you okay?" Spartan919
Jason stirred, the strange yet familiar voice seeming distant. With a rush of memory, Jason's eyes snapped open. He pushed himself up off the ground, and quickly wished he didn't. The pain his head exploded with the motion, and Jason was forced to lie back down again. As he lay there, the tears came, and Jason could do nothing to prevent them. The tears cut a trail through the grime that had gathered on his face, and one dripped into his mouth as he opened it to tell Clair. "They...he...that boy...He stole my Riolu!" Jason clenched his fists in rage, and at his own helplessness.
Clair
Clair gritted her teeth angrily as Jason told her his story. Her temper was about to go off, and she knew it. Taking a shaky breath, she said "Don't worry. I'll find Riolu." "Now, can you tell me which way he went?" Clair looked with pity on the boy, and her anger subsided. Taking his hand, she whispered, "Its going to be fine." OoC: I'm going offline for about an hour now. FYI. ^^
Spartan919
Jason felt his anger subside as Clair took her hand in his, and whispered. That same strange feeling as before stirred, though it could not break through the cloud of anger that had spread over Jason's mind. "H-he...he went after the other boy," Jason said, shuddering. If only I had not been hit so critically in my noggin, then I would stand, and follow after the boy myself. Though, God forbid, if I caught the boy, who knows what I would do to him, in vengeance for the theft of my beloved friend. "Thank you for doing this for me, Clair..." Yoko Kurama
OOC:I am going to use the emerald team for flannery. IC:Bridger waited for Flannery to make the first move. She sent out a Numel. Bridger, as usual, released Nidoking first. "Numel use Takedown!" Nidoking reacted quicker than usual as the camel like beast lunged for him. Instead of ducking down for a Megahorn, he made use of his tail, and smacked the beast directly in the face. Numel didn't much care for that. Flannery made another order. "Don't take that from him! Flamethrower now!" Numel spat a wall of flames and the bulky Nidoking. "No, not today. Nido, use Thunderbolt, direct it at the heart of the flames!" Nidoking built up and electric ball, and launched it towards the sources of the flames, Numel's mouth. The camel was too distracted by his own attack to counter. Numel took at hit, and slid back a few feet. The flames had just reached Nidoking when they died away. Numel shook it off. Flannery seemed ticked. "Just wait, I will destroy you." Bridger responded wittily. "Strong words for a 'Fire' trainer ehh?" She had had enough with that line. Instead of playing Numel's advantages against Nidoking, she withdrew him. Slugma was now present. "You may not be able to tell, but i am laughing amazingly hard inside," Flannery stated, "because Slugma will ruin your Nidoking, and whatever else you have!" Bridger's eyes fixed on Flannery. He had a death gaze, and was now intent to win. "You know, for a Gym Leader, you don't know your type match-ups very well." Flannery looked puzzled. "See watch, Nidoking use Earthquake." The ground began to shake violently. Slugma wasn't able to dodge an attack that effects the entire field. Within seconds, the shaking was over, and Nidoking stood tall. "But...but...no!" Flannery sent out Camerupt while Bridger switched Nidoking out for Espeon. He knew there would be trouble playing Espeon now. "Alright Cammy, use Overheat!" Immediately Flannery was going for the win. Bridger was a little stunned. Espeon started taking massive headers, especially getting slammed into the wall. Camerupt seemed to share Flannery's emotions. After his Overheat wore off, Camerupt was weaker than Espeon. "Alright bud, easy win. Use swift a few times, and if you can't knick him, Hypnosis. Tons of stars flew Camerupt's way. He hadn't realized it until he shifted views. He was down. He laid there, scrambling his legs endlessly. "You are wasting energy Cammy." Flannery said. She returned him and said, "Never has a trainer beat me so easily. But it wasn't easy. Here is why, Torkoal lets do this!" Before Flannery had said anything, Torkoal was already in Overheat, and beating on Espeon. Eventually Bridger couldn't continue watching the punishment. "Alright, i admit it wasn't easy, but it just got even harder for you." Espeon was swapped out, and Garchomp took the field. Flannery stared in amazement. "This is a combo, just for your little Torkoal." Garchomp knew what was going on immediately. He flew high, and thrust a toxic at Torkoal. It narrowly scraped the top of his shell. Overheat ended. Flannery commanded a Flamethrower. It hit Garchomp with ease, because he didn't care. "Sword dance." Garchomp's blood began pumping. "Now, double hit." Garchomp swooped down low, and grazed Torkoal with a Dragon Claw, as he came back, before Torkoal could shift his placement, a Fire Fang sunk into him. He yelped, and nearly surrendered. Flannery wouldn't let up. "Overheat again! Then Earthquake!" Torkoal was blowing steam, as he finally worked his Overheat up. He was moving quicker, but slowing by the second. The ground started shaking again. Bridger chuckled a little. "Poor planning, Garchomp is in the air." Flannery finally realized the flaw. She slapped her forehead, and started stomping. "Quite the immature Gym Leader aren't we?" Flannery surrendered after she was done pouting. Torkoal had already collapsed. "I guess...you deserve this." She gulped hard. "I present you with this badge." Bridger smirked a little bit, and snatched it up. He withdrew Garchomp, and without another word, was out the door. He noticed another trainer on the bleachers. He thought it might be a kick to hang around and watch. As his foot went through the doorway he backtracked. Walking up the stairs he passed the other trainer and nudged him. "Good luck bud." Skarlet
OoC: I'm going to slightly vary Roxanne's team. IC: "Geodude is unable to battle! Eggsecute is the winner!" The official anouncment from the referee was heard by both trainers. The Eggsecute, clearly worn and tired regrouped in the center of the arena, as a suprised and impressed gym leader looked over to Timmy."Very impressive! I haven't had a challenger pull a move like that on me for some time! But lets see how you handle this!" With that she threw a Pokeball into the air, a burst of white light errupted from the orb which returned to Roxanne's hand, leaving a monsterous Onix standing before Timmy and Eggsecute."Eggsecute! Scatter!" Timmy bellowed, but it was too late, as the pokemon started to discorperate again Onix Whipped it's snake-like body around, grabbing up all of the eggsecute and crushing it in it's powerful, rocky body. It dropped the Eggsecute, allowing it's body parts to fall lifelessly to the ground.
Clair
Clair looked warmly at Jason, her piercing eyes sensing anger from within him. "Don't worry, Jason." she reassured him. "That Riolu is as good as found..." Giving his hand a quick squeeze, she dropped it and ran back in the direction of the woods. Clair suddenly halted, and with a groan, leaped up to grab the lowest branch of an oak tree. She pulled herself onto the branch and quickly scanned the area from the treetops. Noticing a figure walking through the woods, she smiled. You're as good as found... She froze suddenly. Was she actually developing feelings for Jason? It couldn't be! Clair was a loner, and that's the way she liked it. ...Wasn't it? Clearing her mind of confusion, she descended from the tree and sprinted after the other thief. Time Psyduck
Tim had set off along the ledge after the first pokéball was stolen, doubled back when he saw Clair running through the tress, and then doubled back again after Starly, who had been watching his stuff and the boy, came up to him, pointing out the second boy now charging through the trees and laughing. Although they hadn't been together very long, Tim could understand what Starly was trying to say - although it having picked up Pigeot's mannerisms helped. He turned back to follow the boy, Starly returning to her post. Being taller than the boy, and having cleared ground, he quickly managed to get ahead, in time to take advantage of a steep path running down between the ledge and the route. He slid down over the loose ground and skidded to a stop in front of the boy. "Excuse me," he said, in a calm, even voice, "but a little bird told me you have a pokémon that does not belong to you. Please return it."
Dark Lightning
Daisuke still watched this from afar. He noticed the stolen pokemon, and felt as if to help; he was going to, but then he noticed that someone had already approached the boy. He smiled at this warmly. Without wasting any time, Daisuke climbed onto Arcanine's back"Alright, Arc, you know what to do!" he shouted. Arcanine quickly barked in amusement and then started dashing with great speed. They were now closer to the group of people, but Daisuke wanted to keep his distance and not cause any type of commotion.
Clair
Clair skidded to a halt, wary of the stranger who had apprehended the boy, whose eyes darted back and forth now, looking for escape. "Thank you," she panted, her pale complexion flushed. "I thought he would get away..." As she said this, Clair made sure to level her icy gaze on the boy, who shifted uneasily and backed away, into the chest of the other Trainer. "What were you doing, watching us?" said Clair testily at the stranger. "Are you with him?" Suddenly, the captured boy laughed. His eyes darted back and forth again, and clutching Jason's PokeBall, he made a break for it.
Skarlet
Timmy expected his Eggsecute to faint, he knew it would happen. bui still, he felt guilty letting it get to that point. "Eggsecute return!" The words didn't come easily, and he was feeling intense now. "Krabby! Let's Go!" He threw another ball into the air and sent a large crab into battle. Onix wasn't phased, nor was Roxanne."Onix, use dig." she said calmly."Nix!" And with that the Onix dived into the ground, causing a massive spray of dirt and dust. Krabby scuttled slightly, moving toward the hole."Krabby, fire a watergun down that hole!" The crab opened it's claw and launched a jet of water into the hole."Onix!" It wasn't a yell of pain or anything of that nature, infact, Onix had burst up behind Krabby and grabbed it up with Bind! Squeezing the life out of the crab."Kraaaaaaaaaab!""It's okay buddy, use Watergun!" The Crab went to shoot a jet of water, but Onix moved slightly avoiding the shot but less then an inch by inclining it's head. Roxanne looked confident now. Krabby was being decimated. Time Psyduck
When the boy backed into Tim, the researcher subtly took hold of the boy's shirt collar. His bid for freedom got no further than a couple of feet, as he found himself lifted off the ground. "If you have something that belongs to this lady or her friend, please return it," he told the boy, staring at him with a serious expression, "I would hate to have to force you in this." He turned back to Clair. "I'm not with him," he explained, "in fact I've never seen him before today. You, on the other hand...but I wouldn't expect you to remember anyway. As for why I was watching, I was simply waiting for a resident of the next town to realise his own lack of intelligence, and happened to come across your battle. How long did you know I was there?" Clair
"Thank you," said Clair, her voice softening. "And in the commotion of the battle, I glanced around and saw a person shifting above me, if you must know. I assumed it was you when you apprehended this Trainer so quickly." Her icy eyes sparkled in the moonlight. "Of course I remember...I'm still the Dragon Master of Blackthorn." Clair turned away, smiling. "Blackthorn just got a little monotonous is all..." She then turned back to the boy, her face suddenly contorted in anger, and slapped the thief smartly across the face. "You did inexcusable things today... how dare you call yourself a Trainer!" Clair gave one last glare towards the boy and plucked the Ball from the thief's white hands. At the absence of his loot, the offending trainer started to whimper. Clair put the PokeBall on her belt and smiled. "You really helped out a lot today," she said warmly towards the scientist. "Thank you. I'm sure we will meet again!" Brushing blue hair out of her face, Clair started walking back in the direction of her and Jason's meeting place.
Dark Lightning
Daisuke smiled as he saw the scene come to an end. He then decided to leave and stop watching the group of people; it was getting dark anyway, and Daisuke and Arcanine needed somewhere to sleep. Daisuke looked off into the distance, the sun was already gone, and the moonlight shaded the area. Even though it was dark, The sky looked amazing. Daisuke couldn't help but smile at the dazzling sight. He climbed onto Arcanine's back and then yawned "We should let these people be.... Let's go slowly until we find a place to rest, Alright, Arcanine?" Arcanine nodded and then started a slow walk, not because he was tired, but only because Daisuke had requested it to be so. Time Psyduck
Tim checked his own pokéballs were still in place, and turned the kid to see him better. "Well, I guess that she doesn't want to punish you further," he told the boy, "and since I won't, I guess you're free to go." He turned and pointed the boy in the opposite direction, setting him down again. He quickly scampered off, constantly glancing back to make sure he wasn't being followed. So she was bored, he mused turning back into the direction that Clair had set off in. I guess it makes sense, after all Blackthorn is very much out of the way. I can understand that. He sighed and scrambled up the bank, heading back along the ridge. He opened one of his pokéballs. "Leafeon, Starly's up ahead with the gear. Run ahead and check she's OK." The fox-like creature nodded and ran along the ridge. Tim walked, at a slower pace, along behind her. You leaving the gym wasn't why I didn't expect you to remember though, but that's not really important. But if you remember me, then I'm sure you'll remember her as well. He pulled a photograph outside of his inside pocket. The picture showed Tim, along with young woman with black hair, standing in front of a rock shaped like a Munchlax. Why haven't you contacted us, Jess? You've never been this long without talking to someone before, so what's changed?
Warwolf121
Jared walked over to Flannery and pulled Ralts into his arms. "What do you want Trainer?" the rathered disgruntled Gym Leader said. "Well I kinda wanna teach my Numel Overheat. I think that move would be killer to use in some contests." Jared responded, not scared of the tough girl personality she put out. "If you want your Numel to learn Overheat, then you have to beat me in a one on one battle, using..." Flannery looked at Jared up and down and then saw the timid Ralts in his arms, "that Ralts." "Oh not Ralts, he's not a big fan of fighting." "Its Ralts, or no Overheat for you." She puffed out her chest thinking that battling the timid Psychic pokemon would result in a win for her. Jared looked down at Ralts, who nodded, signifying it would battle. "Lets go Ralts!" The little white being went on to the battlefield ready to battle. "Come on out Torkoal, lets get things heated with Flamethrower!" The hot tortoise came onto the field, and immediately shot a stream of fire towards Ralts. "Quick Ralts, use Confusion!" The Psychic Pokemon shot a blast of blue energy which collided with the flames, but the fire was stronger and continued through and hit Ralts dead on. Ralts curled up in a defensive way, wanting the battle to be over. "Hmph, pathetic. Torkoal finish it with Body Slam." Torkoal started running then jumped in the air about to land on Ralts, but Ralts used its Teleport to disappear and reappear behind the Torkoal. All of a sudden Jared got an idea about how to beat her. Torkoal was now cringing on the ground from the impact it had made. "Ralts use Shadow Ball!" Ralts shot a black blob at Torkoal and it hit him right in the face. "Now get on his back." Ralts mustered up enough courage to place itself on the monstrous turtle's back. "What are you doing? You just put your Ralts in grave danger. Torkoal use Gyro Ball!" The tortoise started spinning around. "Quick Ralts, use Teleport and carry you and Torkoal to the ceiling." Ralts and Torkoal started glowing blue then disappeared then reappeared near the ceiling. "Now let go of Torkoal, and use Teleport to get back on the ground." Ralts then appeared on the ground leaving Torkoal in free fall. "Don't give him any time to recuperate, use Magical Leaf." Green leaves started floating around Ralts then shot towards Torkoal and never missed. Torkoal hit the gym floor with a cloud of dust rising off the ground. When it had cleared it showed that Torkoal had fainted. "Today is just not my day." Flannery muttered to herself. She then walked over to Jared and Ralts. "Fine I'll teach your stupid Numel Overheat."
