My sneaky Exodia victory against my friend

Ok me and my friend were dueling during lunch, we had 30 minutes to get this duel done and over with.

My friend was using a Dark monster-based deck. I was using an Exodia Deck.

Basically my Exodia Deck is all about draw power and unfortunately not much else, it lacks offensive power and very minimal defense.

My friends deck was more about boosting his monsters and attacking, so basically it was an offensive based deck against a draw power based deck.

Duel went down like this I was drawing an exodia piece right off the bat, then used various cards to keep drawing unfortunately I might not have the best cards to work with because I eventually ran out of juice and no longer had cards to allow me to keep drawing, what's worse I don't have many monsters either, I put any and all monsters I got into immediate defense position.

My friend eventually gets through my defense and attacks me directly.

I use Swords of Revealing Light to by me some time.

then I use Gold Sarcophagus to retrieve not an exodia piece but rather Mirror Force. Like I said my defense was weak so I had to muster all the defensive capabilities I got just to survive my friend's assault.

I then activate Scape Goat for added protection.

During this time I have about 3 pieces of Exodia in my hand. Using various tools, like a regular draw, Gold S, etc.

I then get Mirror Force by the effect of my 2nd Gold Sarcophagus and set it.

My friend attacks one of my scape goats triggering mirror force, he doesn't stop it and loses his monsters.

He then activates Lightning Vortex and returns the favor and get's rid of all of my monsters as well. So now I lost scapegoat and used up mirror force and swords wore off long ago. The only defense I had at this point was royal libraries with 2000 defense.

I continue to set any and all monsters into face down defense position buying me more time as I draw cards. I got some good cards towards the end of match that allowed me to draw more cards until I got a fourth piece of exodia as well as Sangan.

But during this time my friend had brought my life points down to 2900 compared to his 5000 something.

I had 2 other monsters in face-down defense position.

My friend started to set up his own recovery by summoning a dark monster and boosting its atk up to 3000.

Realizing if I don't get that 5th piece of exodia quickly my friend is going to get through my defense position monsters turn by turn and then at my life points. I had no spell or trap cards that could of helped me at that point, but I did have Sangan.

So I set up a trap hoping my friend would take the bait but I also hoped my friend would not boost his 3000 ATK monster anymore than he already had.

So I summoned Sangan in face-up Attack Position. (YUP)

My friend then proceeded to boost his monster another 500 ATK points. I was sweating bullets at that point because if he boosted anymore then that, I would of been toast.

Needless to say my friend made a huge mistake and attacked my Sangan, I was excited when he did that, because although he did boost his monster before he attacked, it was not enough to wipe out my life points.

His monster at 3500 ATK destroyed my Sangan at 1000 ATK causing 2500 damage to my life points leaving me with 400 Life Points, so I survived and Sangan's effect activated allowing me to retrieve the 5th and final piece of exodia and I won.

It was the most perfectly timed trap I ever played using an Effect Monster in combination with an exodia win.

The duel lasted through our entire lunch and we went for about 23-25 turns.

I had a 45 card deck and still had 10 cards left.

In the end I asked my friend so why did you attack my monster was it because I put it in attack position and that would allow you to inflict life point damage to me and he said yeah and he didn't realize sangan's effect until it was too late and even then he was just hoping I didn't have enough pieces in my hand as well.

It was because I placed the monster in face-up attack position that won me the duel, had I placed it in face-down defense position my friend would of not known what it was and would not have been enticed to attack it.

THAT IS MY BEST EXODIA TRAP VICTORY.

THE END.

A faceup Sangan is much more tempting and if I were him I would've buffed my monster up to OHK stats. Setting it would've been far safer. You said you only had ten cards left so if he didn't attack you could stall him out.

Why didn't you suicide your Sangan into him if that was your plan' date=' anyways?

[/quote']

Could I have stalled him out with my remaining 10 cards? maybe but time was of the essence because our time for lunch was coming to an end and I rather have ended it when I did then let it drag out risking my opportunity. Plus he would then just have more chances to boost his monster enough to wipe me out completely.

And I did suicide my Sangan as soon as I drew him.

It was a good win for me, unfortunately the next day we dueled again and my friend beat me, although it was close because I did have 4 pieces of exodia in my hand.

In the end i have come to the conclusion that Exodia decks are just to iffy to consistently use to win with.

Bad Duelist A defeats Bad Duelist B.

Not impressed or anything.

thats a little harsh mate' date=' cut him some slack,

No.

its tough to get all of the exodia pieces

He took 30 minutes and played for about 23-25 turns. He advertised just about all his plays (Gold Sarc for Mirror Force' date=' Normal Summon Sangan) and his opponent was just as awful (Lightning Vortex on Goats, attacking and losing monster[b']s[/b] when he knew opponent had Mirror Force).

In short, a bad duelist defeated another bad duelist. I'm not impressed.

I assume that's sarcasm, but when you've taken over 20+ turns to win even with your opponent making retarded plays, you're not gonna be receiving praise for your efforts.

now that u mention it, that is kinda lame, i would have destroyed both of them in a single duel with my Dark Paladin deck, but then again i am an experience duelist, i compete in as many tournys as i can find, i win a few and lose a few, but im slowly workin my way up the chain

I have Pika's back 100%. A good Exodia deck should be able to win on the first few turns' date=' if not the very first one. Even in Advanced, my friend's Exodia deck consistantly FTKs.

Like my deck I post here? :D

Its difficult, but you can make a real FTK Exodia Deck.

This story was not worth the read to me..it sounds like the typical newb exodia duel..DX

i was in a local tourny and this guy had 3sets of exodia in his deck and i still whooped him because he couldnt draw his exodia and most of his monsters were to powerful to summon, it was a pathetic attempt and i won without losing any life points lol, good thing it was only a local tourny
