One Awfully Awful Trap card (Goblin out of the Frying Pan)

Screws with cards with activation costs. D-Draw (lol-limited), Trade-In, Solar Recharge, Monster Reincarnation, Lightning Vortex.

In any of the above cases however, I'd perfer to run Magic Drain over this.

Even though it's outclassed' date=' I'd be pretty pissed should someone use this on my Countdown...

Or anything else with a cost. Would this card work with Upstart Goblin for +1500 LP?

no, the +1000lp to oppoent isn't a cost, it's just a negitive effect.

would be good if that was the effect.

but i like

Pay 500 Life Points. Negate the activation of a Spell Card and destroy it.

but hasn't it been semi-established that 1 card is worth 1000 lp in trap and spell effects, not 500?

I mean, magic jammer is discard 1 card, magic drain is one card, dark bribe is 1 card.

upstart is 1000 lp for 1, ancient leaf is 1000 for a +1, etc.

I'm just saying, 500 for an unavoidable (no or choice.) negation at any time is very cost effective, so konami wouldn't give us that.

I think this is supposed to be the anti-spell version of Malfunction. Unfortunately someone apparently forgot to account for the fact that whilst traps can't be used on the turn they're set, meaning malfunction does have a use if you tend to find yourself short of life points, spells can be played again immediately (provided you can pay the cost), so this does nothing. If it said they couldn't activate or set it that turn then maybe it would do something, but it doesn't, so all it does is waste 500 life points.

It can delay an OTK and give you a chance to defend against it' date=' but yeah, pretty bad overall.

How?

It says it negates spells, so if a spell is needed for an OTK, it can negate that and give you a turn to defend or counter it.

Nobody ever said they can't activate it again the same turn.....
