[spoiler=Prologue: The Underworld Manifest]

Two men in a room. Facing each other at opposite ends of a long table. One of them was very large, but very old looking, with a white cloak obscuring all but his face. The other was a younger-looking man, with cold blue eyes, black shoulder-length hair, in civilian wear. He was leaning over the chair in a relaxed manner, as if he didn't take the meeting too seriously.

"So, Jose. You look pretty worried. Wanna talk?" the young man asked, giving the last part a sarcastic spin. Of course they were going to talk. What else could they do?

"The Signers are going to win. Even if those fools I share my job with don't agree with me, I know it's going to happen. As complete as the Circuit may be, we stil-"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it. You think you're screwed. So why'm I here?"

Although it was unseen, Jose ground his teeth. "You're here to do what you do best. Scout out a new superior for Yliaster. One who will lead the Organization to glory and power."

"Well, that's all well and good, but how does this help me? I mean, personally, I don't care if Yliaster lives or-"

This time it was Jose's turn to interrupt. "You will be compensated at twice your usual rate once a suitable sucessor has been found.

At this, the younger man leaned forward, both elbows on the table. He was clearly excited by the prospect.

"Twice...-I won't disappoint you! What do I do when I find our great leader?"

"Take them to our old property, the one we've held for centuries... You know the one."

"Indeed I do. I won't disappoint you, Jose, sir. And for what it's worth, I hope you win tomorrow."

"So do I, Miles. So do I."

---

"GO! SAVIOR STAR DRAGON! DIRECT ATTACK! SHOOTING BLASTER SONIC!

As the luminous white dragon shot forth at the three opposing D-Wheelers, Jose merely looked up at the sky.

Miles, you'd better not screw this up. (LP: 600-->0)

Lucciano was the first to be thrown off, then Placido. Finally, Jose's D-Wheel sputtered and slowed. He bowed his head. It was over.

End of Prologue.

[spoiler=Chapter 1: The Forced Portal]

Ah, the remains of a former generation.

Here it was that almost a century ago, Rex Godwin launched his final, desperate assault at the Signers. Or rather, this is where he set it all up.

What had originally stood between the four towers was clear and gone. All that remained were the four towers of Old Momentum. Four metal obelisks, memories of a bygone era.

Good Lord, what a cliché. And here you're supposed to be the big bad super genius.

Regilus and an agent had been on the (lack of a) road for more than fifteen minutes, with only the towers to serve as landmarks. Regilus spent this time writing. He liked to do that when there was little else to do. Right now, for example, he was penning down what the world looked and sounded around him. He was just about to finish a rather beautiful (and slightly ridiculous) metaphor when the car came to a sudden halt. Regilus shifted his Stetson hat and dusted off his pure black suit. Had to look nice for the occasion.

He turned to the driver. "So we're here already?"

"Yes, sir."

"And the others?"

"In place, as you've requested."

"Even proper grammar, too? I'm liking you already, dear boy. Now, let's get things started. On my mark, detonate the charges simultaneously." The last sentence was actually said through a multi-channel radio to the rest of the detachment, who had already gotten into places around each of the four towers.

"Detonate."

Simultaneously, four Reverse Momentum charges were released, causing the four towers to shoot geysers of pure light and energy. This light, shooting up stock still for a few seconds, bent itself into the center point between the four towers, all of the beams focusing on a single point. A small hole started to open.

Regilus knew that this was the moment to act. He pulled out of his pocket a single gemstone, tied to some string. The gem itself was little more than a shiny green rock. Regilus threw the gem into the light's focal point, turning all of the light green, and firing more of the light into the rapidly expanding dark hole on the ground. An earth-shattering roar was heard. Then everything went quiet. The light suddenly stopped. The hole grew larger, then stopped growing at all. A sludgy black hand emerged from the hole.

"And with that ladies and gentlemen," Regilus said through the radio, "a god is born."

[spoiler=Chapter 2: The Story Explodes]

We now move our story to the second of our protagonists, who seems to be currently engaged in a Duel at present.

"Geo Genex attacks directly! Gaia Smash! (2800) (Kieran LP:700-->0)

A large rock-infused machine with enormous hands threw a devastating looking punch toward the other player. He deactivated his disk and moved toward his opponent.

"Damn, you did pretty well there, Seggy. Certainly have grown up quite a bit from when found that first card in the street." The speaker is Kieran, a medium-height, stocky young man of about eighteen. The bright sunlight reflected almost too well off of his blond hair.

"Well, that's what happens when time passes. We grow up." And here we come to the main player in our story. This is Segercis. He prefers Seg because yes, he knows that's a weird name too. In almost direct contrast to his friend, his rather potent amount of dark black hair and sticklike figure led most people to believe that he was one o' them "emos" or whatever. But he was a pleasant and happy enough guy, casual, sometimes nonchalant, especially considering his age.

And then the building exploded behind them.

More specifically, the building exploded behind them with a deafening, fiery thunderclap.

"What the hell was that?!"

"Look! Over there!"

A rather tall building was containing a rather large inferno. As the two friends hurried to get a good look at it, they ran through an alleyway and into two others. All four collapsed, and all four got up around the same time. Segercis got a good look at the two and could only identify that the two were waring black cloaks with purple lining.

"What do you think you're doing?!" asked the shorter of the two. "We're on a very important mission right now!"

"What are WE doing?!" Kieran responded. "You're the suspicious-looking ones around here!"

Before any more was said, the second whispered something into the ear of the first. The first nodded.

"Yeah, they would make nice additions to the cause, wouldn't they? Okay you two, we've got a proposition. How does a 2 on 2 tag duel sound? You win, and we tell you everything we know. You lose, and... well, if you're arachnophobic, you don't wanna lose. So, what do you say?"

"Agreed." both replied. They were sure enough of themselves that they knew they wouldn't lose.

All four activated their Duel Disks.

"DUEL!" they cried.

DUEL: Kieran(LP:4000)/Seg(LP:4000) VS Enemy (LP:4000)/Enemy (LP:4000)
