Felix Culpa
((Yeah, they're working fine. I'm reading it in my head with an Australian accent. I try and make the sounds of peoples voices as specific as worldly possible through text.)) "Nonsense, m'boy. You can call me Uncle or Hephaestus," he said, thinking for a moment. "So, you're cousins, aren't ya?" Alban paused. He never thought about the familial connection, but no doubt, he and Jason were cousins. "Yeah, we are." "Now, what's this about a pair o' glasses?" Hephaestus asked. "I'll make you a brand new pair. Got some skill for making magical items. The ones I'll make for ya are gonna be like that knife minus the weapon capabilities." Spartan919
Jason smiled. He kinda liked 'Uncle.' "Thanks, mate. So, uh, what will me 'special glasses' be made of? Y'mean they won't be able to break?" He hoped that would be true; it would be nice to have glasses that didn't break. He had gone through so many pairs of glasses, he couldn't even start to count them. "Y'know," Jason said. "I got this bow from me mum; I've been tryin' to figure out what it was for ever." He pulled the bow, which he kept hidden in a bookbag, out, and held it out to 'Uncle.' Then he turned to Alban. "So...we're cousins? Makes sense, considering I tagged ya earlier." Jason laughed a little, hoping Alban didn't get mad.
Felix Culpa
"This bow is made from a special piece of metal called Lunum. That's the bow's name, too," Hephaestus explained, looking at the bow closely. "The arrows fired from this will hit the intended mark, in the right hands. You've got to put your mind and soul into it. It glow in moonlight as well." A larger man walked out of the back room, carrying some metal. "Got some metal fer ya, boss," the man said, putting a large heap of bronze on the table in front of him. "The glass'll take more time to make." "A Cyclops? Don't they only work in Poseidon's forges, where the lightning bolts are made?" Alban said, looking at the Cyclops' one eye. "They normally do, but I borrowed one from mah uncle," Hephaestus explained, "He's not that old, ya see, so he's going to be working as an intern here for a few years." Spartan919
Jason took the bow back from Hephaestus. "Thanks, mate." He looked at the bow curiously for a moment, then stashed it back in his back. "I can't wait for my new glasses, um, uh, Uncle." He stumbled over the words a little, still a little nervous about calling such a large man 'Uncle.' But he was Jason's uncle, wasn't he? That would make sense. Jason squinted at the man who brought the metal. "Croikey, mate, yore right. That's a cyclops...like that guy in the library who was tryin' to beat me up." He remembered the kid, and anger and hatred seeped into his voice.
Felix Culpa
"A Cyclops attacked you?" Hephaestus said, taking out a drachma. "Cousin, get yourself here NOW!" A flash of light appeared in the middle of the room, and suddenly, a man was hovering in the middle of the room. Literally hovering, inches above the floor, using flying shoes and a winged newsboy cap. He looked to be about twenty years old and was decked in a black jeans and a white button-up shirt. "No need to yell, Festy." the man said, landing on the ground, his wings on his clothing shrinking into his shoes. "You almost blew out my ears. Now, what is it you wanted?" "Poseidon. There's a Cyclops that just attacked his brother's grandsons. Your nephews," Hephaestus said, not happy about his nickname. "Hermes, you understand what this means don't you." "Unfortunately," Hermes nodded and lifted up off the ground, disappearing in another flash of light.
Spartan919
Jason watched the exchange with awe. "That-that was Hermes, the..." He scrunched his head up, trying to remember who Hermes was. "He's the...messenger of the gods, right, si-I mean Uncle?" Jason blinked from the flashes of light. "And what was with the coin? I didn't recognize it as being U.S. currency." If it's not U.S. currency, then it must be something else. Maybe Greek? He is a greek god after all. Felix Culpa
"That was Hermes, yes. I believe he's your Uncle, if the family tree in my head is right. I'm not used to guessing heroes' heritages. It's only obvious with children of Athena, because they all have grey eyes," Hephaestus said. "And that was a drachma, which is used as currency in Olympus. The Greeks, who were in tune with us, used silver drachma. Now they converted to the euro, and we've just become tourist attractions." Hephaestus shook his head. "Come back in a bit. And if you leave town, there'll always be a way to get here."
Spartan919
"B-but I need my glasses. I can't see hardly without them." He was worried. Would glasses really take a long time to make? He had never seen it done before, so he assumed it must be true. "Oh well, I guess I can figure something out. Well, uh..." he turned to Alban, "can you tell me anything more about what my powers might be? I mean, the bow works for me, I know now, but I have crappy eyesight. So how can I be the son of the goddess of the hunt?" Jason was really confusing himself with his questions.
Felix Culpa
"No doubt, you are," Hephaestus said, "Family resemblance. You got her brain. One thing she and Athena have in common. But, I guess your eyesight could use some fixin'. We don't have no gods of eyesight though, sorry." Hephaestus laughed, beating down the bronzed into a smaller shape. He hadn't heated the bronze, as far as Alban knew, so he was surprised by how easy it was for him to mold. He had two frames connected now. "The glass is gonna need some blowin'," Hephaestus boomed, "Get Boreas to cool it for ya. He's an airhead anyway." "Got it, boss," the Cyclops' heavy voice said. In one hour, Jason had new glasses, the rims made from celestial bronze, which meant it couldn't be touched by anyone without god blood in them. The glass was made in an old way of the gods so that it would enhance clarity.

Felix Culpa
OOC: You weren't accepted, kooler. Please delete your post and revise your application. Alban walked out of the shop, looking back as it shrank into nothingness. The gods were amazing when it came to tricking mortals. They had a special power called Apato, to trick the humans into believing they were gone, but they stayed. "So, Jason," Alban said, "How're those new glasses doing?" Alban picked out his knife from his pocket, making it wrap around his wrist into a chain, which hung on his wrist. "Celestial bronze, the metal of the gods, can transform into whatever the user desires, weapon-wise. I've never seen a non-weapon made out of the god's metal." Spartan919
Jason looked through the glasses; everything seemed so crisp through the special glass. "Well, these are awesome, mate," he said. "And, w'knows? Maybe some day, I'll get contacts, and I can use my glasses as a weapon...I should have asked Uncle for a bit of that stuff. Croikey! The things you could do with metal that forms into any weapon you want." Jason let his imagination run wild. He saw himself wielding awesome weapons, all made from the same material his new glasses were made of. "So...now d'we go back to class, mate? Or we just gonna stay outta school for th'rest o' the day?"
Felix Culpa
"Celestial bronze can't turn into a weapon whatever you want. This knife was made to turn into a sword when open. And just a little click on the hilt makes it a closed knife. You can make almost anything out of celestial bronze, but your glasses probably don't transform," Alban explained. "I should introduce you to my brother, but he's off fighting monsters right now. They've started coming to this city more and more."
Spartan919
Jason looked over at Alban. He hadn't asked about his brother, which...would be his cousin, presumably. Oh well. He just decided to follow Alban wherever he went for the moment; Jason had been filled with an intense feeling that he and Alban could not be beat. His eyes glistened as he thought of the prospects of his bow. "Well, mate...wot should we do; now that that cylops's dead, and I got new glasses, I don't got much to do. How 'bout you?" He hoped that this kid would be his friend now, especially considering the fact that they were related.
Felix Culpa
"I was about to go try and find some more demigods, but it would seem that there are none. Go home, and I'll contact you later," Alban said, pulling out a golden drachma. "If you ever get into trouble, just toss this into the air, and Hermes will arrive." Alban walked off, twirling a drachma on his finger so the sides flipped between Zeus and Apollo. "The God of Truth, huh? Then can you tell me what is going on?" Alban said, looking at the Apollo side of the coin.
Spartan919
Jason accepted the coin, and walked away. He couldn't go home now! He decided he would go to one of his favorite places: the archery range. He stopped, turned, and walked back in the direction of the school. As he walked, he wondered if it too was a place that only demigods such as him could see. He shrugged his shoulders, and pulled the drachma out of his pocket. He turned it over and over looking at its two sides. One held the face of Apollo, and one showed Zeus. Zeus...the god of gods; what would it be like to meet him, Jason wondered, rubbing the face of Zeus with his thumb as he walked. What would it be like indeed? Felix Culpa
Alban walked to the school, looking at the sun above it. Alban bent down over a notepad and drew a sketch, a fiery chariot flying over the earth, a young boy at the reins. Phaethon was one of Alban's favorite pieces of the Greek society, because it showed how futile it was to meddle in the god's affairs. Father, be glad I don't take over your job, or maybe, the earth would be engulfed in lies, Alban thought, looking at the Apollo side of the coin. Each of the coins had two different gods inscribed in them, though only Olympians made it on the coins, as well as some of the more famous heroes, such as Hercules, Theseus, Perseus, Jason, and Odysseus, but those coins were rare. Spartan919
Jason walked into the archery range. It was one of his favorite buildings to be in. And...truth be told, he had never used his bow, Lunum, and he was eager to try it out. As he entered, he smiled to the girl at the counter. "G'day, Suzie." She looked up, and smiled. When she indicated the bows along the wall, he shook his head and held up his own bow. "Just arrows today, please." She stuck her finger out in a 'wait' signal, and left through a back door. A minute later, she walked back, holding a quiver of wooden arrows. He accepted them with a smile, and walked to the station she pointed him to. Here goes everythin'. He pulled out the bow, then the string, and bound them together. Another strange skill: he had never really used bows before, but he had always known about them. Felix Culpa
Alban walked around the school, looking for something to do, when he saw his brother swinging his sword, which usually disguised itself as a pen, at shadows that seemed to be surrounding him. The weight of the shadows made Ajax nearly impossible to see. Erebus, the god of Shadows, couldn't be attacking Ajax, a half-blood, could he? A person stood on the edge of the woods, looking surprised to see Alban and stopped laughing. A woman dressed in full black stood at the edge of the forest, black shadowy mist flooding out of her sleeves and surrounding Ajax. What is this woman? Alban thought, running toward her, pulling out his pocketknife.
Spartan919
Jason pulled back the string, and notched an arrow into it. He pointed it at the bullseye, and breathed out. After a slow, agonizing moment of relaxing his lungs, he released the arrow. It flew straight, and hit the bullseye in the direct center. Jason couldn't contain himself; he leapt upward, his fist punching the air in excitement. He had never been so exact; usually, he was slightly off, and on bad days, he missed completely. Jason looked at his bow, Lunum, with new respect. It was more marvelous than he could have ever hoped for. He pulled his bow back, and prepared to fire another arrow. Felix Culpa
Ajax let out a pained scream as the smoke engulfed Alban, lifting him up as the smoky globe rotated around them. It felt like they were moving, through the forest, by the sound of the birds over their own screams. There was no help. "Ajax," he managed to choke out. "What is she?" "Koritskia," Ajax moaned, "She can manipulate shadows."
Spartan919
Jason was about to fire another arrow when he heard the screams of two people. He turned, and when he couldn't locate the generation of the screams, looked up. There floating in a cloud of shadows, were Alban and some other kid who looked a lot like him. He screamed "Hey!" and pointed his bow at the cloud of shadows. "Take this!" he shouted at the shadows. He let go of his arrow, and it zipped out, straight at the shadows. He hoped that he was aiming at the shadows, because he really didn't want to hurt his friend, or that other kid.
Felix Culpa
The arrow bounced off the shadowy cage that kept Alban and Ajax in a perpetual state of pain. The Koritskia started running, becoming shadows herself and blending into the ground. "Light," Alban said, "Light destroys shadows." They weren't underground, but part of the ground, flattened into nearly two dimensions with the shadows of the trees. The only hint to where they were was the large, circular shadows that flitted across the ground in various areas.
