'Yeah.' Diana sighed. 'The Asphodel Fields are so boring. Wish we had at least died with something to do.'

 

Nikki nodded solemnly, and sat down quietly in the van.

 

Wayne stayed at the pavilion, staring at the funeral pyre. He had been angry at the dead girl, Diana, but he wasn't THAT angry. Is this my fault? He asked himself. Is it somehow my fault that they both died? COOL!!!

 

'I'm in charge of music.' Dante objected. He paused. 'Wait a minute... If that Nikki-'

'Marissa.' Nikki corrected him sadly.

'Marissa, sure, fine, if she didn't count as a lost camper, why would she count as a camper who's on the quest? So then we've only got four demigods, but the oracle said to bring five, which means we need another demigod.' His eyes wandered over to the demigod standing across the street. 'Hey, what's-your-face! Wanna come on a quest?!?' He shouted to Scathe.

Brandon looked at the cavernous ceiling, thinking that, miles above them, was downtown LA and Hollywood. It didn't seem too strange that the two places were so close together, Brandon thought as there was a dark shaking laugh from somewhere in the cave. With all the stuff that happens in Hollywood nowadays.

 

When Brandon heard Diana, he looked to his left and saw her, standing with her hands in her pockets. "Yeah, I guess. But not much goes on here. I only hope someone comes to rescue me. It wouldn't be too unheard of. Hades let Orpheus take Eurydice back to the living world, as long as he didn't look at her. Maybe Amethyst could use her charm to get a more slack deal. But, she's not familiar with Greek legends, so they'll be no use thinking she'll be any help."

"Pfft, and what are you gonna put on? Some of that cassical junk." Jecht said then Dante started shouting at some random person. "Dante? What are you doing? So what we've only got four that doesn't mean to start recruiting random people." He said looking at the person Dante was talking to. "Does he even count? I mean he's not really a camper." He said thinking about the prophcy and the lines started reading out in his head.

[Corvidae]

Dante bristled indignantly. 'The prophecy said we needed five demigods, not five campers. Remember?

Five heroes shall find them, one with a scar,

Brian's got the scar, and you, me, Nikki, and Brian are four, he's a fifth. Besides, he looks like he can handle his own in a fight. Maybe. He survived the cyclops'

 

Diana smiled. 'Didn't Orpheus turn around too early and lose Eurydice forever? I'd rather they just come here and save us; didn't they have a quest or something? I'm pretty sure I heard Brian talking about the underworld, maybe they're coming here?' I hope so. She thought to herself.

[Theseus]

"Why would they save us?" Brandon thought, "We'd just weigh down their quest. We'd also interfere with the prophecy. Only five are supposed to go on the quest, so I've got no clue whether or not we're supposed to go with them or not. And eventually, Orpheus died as well, and joined Eurydice in eternity down here. I wonder where they are."

 

Brandon lied back down, looking at the ceiling. The asphodel was starting to get to him, making him tiredly content with his surroundings. He couldn't let that happen, or he'd just blend into the life of the Underworld. He jumped onto his feet. "Let's go see Hades," he said to Diana.

Jecht rolled his eyes. "Well, we don't know that because you killed the frikin thing first. fine, fine but I would like to know he can hold his own in a fight. Bring him bring him, but let's get to the underworld." He said mostly hoping to get to the underworld to keep Nikki from crying again and to possibly make her whole again. "But what's his name? Its always good to know the name of the person your gonna be going to the underworld, land of the dead, with." He said stepping in the van.

'Okay.' Diana agreed. But if only five go on the quest, it could be possible that seven come back... Or... eight, including Nikki... Where IS she?

 

Nikki sat still, sad, silent. Desiree and Marissa are gone, but- Suddenly she recieved a empathy message. "Nikki? Is that you? Can you hear me?"

"Marissa? You're alive!!" "Not exactly. See, I left all my money in the car, so I couldn't afford passage to the underworld. You'll never believe it: Desiree's helping Charon!" "No way Desiree would do that. She's too nice." "I dunno, she'd do anything to come back." "So why can't I talk to her?" "Empathy links don't work between the dead and the living. I can talk to you because I'm not actually in the underworld. But I'm dead, so I can talk to both of you." "Oh... By the way, if you can't go into the underworld... Wouldn't that make you a ghost?" "Yes. So now our family is on every plane of existance. Mother's immortal, Desiree's dead, I'm a ghost, and you're alive."

[Theseus]

"Hades will probably be pretty mad," Brandon said hesitantly, "Who is your immortal parent?"

Brandon's memories from camp were fading, along with his free will. If he didn't break the conformity of the Asphodel Meadows soon, he'd be a robot, never able to go and live in the outside world, even if someone decided to come and save him. "It wouldn't be impossible for them to go back with more than 5, but we'd have to not help at all, even if they are in mortal danger. We cannot meddle with Fate, or we may very well end up dead.

"Nikki?" Jecht asked snapping her out of it. "Something wrong, you look like something happened. What was it?" He asked egerly, wanting to know because he was still half confused about what was going on with Nikki. "Was it one of your," Jecht searched for the right word in his mind ",counter parts I guess? Is it the underworld?" He said quickly bombaring her with waayy to many questions for her to possibly answer.

Nikki paused. 'Sisters.' Nikki replied sadly. 'More or less.'

 

'Hmm...' Diana needed to think about that question. 'A-Apollo, I think.' She froze. 'Oh my gods! I can't remember! Wh-what's happening to me!?!'

 

'Um... I think I recognize him. Scathe Sil...Silver...claw, wasn't it?' Dante remembered seeing Scathe somewhere at some time.

 

Damian grinned evilly. Too easy. He drew his widesword, and, glaring horribly at the cruise ship's owner, he easily managed to convince him to let him on the boat. 'To Greece!' He exclaimed loudly. 'That bow will soon be mine! And then, then I will be able to take control of the rest of them. Once I get them all, I'll be able to destroy everything that stands in my, or Lord Kronos', way!! Hahaha!'

Brian gave a death glare from the front seat. "Don't let him in. Im sure someone will be sent from camp." Brian looked at Dante. "Just get in the car we need to go, we have a few more days of traveling before we get there. If there is any chance of saving Nikki's "sisters" we need to go now before they forget who they are and can't come back." He turned his phone on and set it on the dash. "We can go through Ohio, unless there is anyone anyone wants to see." He said the phone navigator beeping a map from Jersey to LA.

[Theseus]

"My father is Apollo, by truth," Brandon said, looking around the Underworld. "If so, we're brother and sister, but just half, though." He walked along, observing the lifestyles of those whose minds that had gone into the shades of Erebus, swallowed by the power of the Asphodel Meadows. "I'm not staying here forever, definitely. Hopefully, you did hear Brian correctly, or I'm going to be bored for eternity."

 

Brandon walked down a street, looking around. They just did here. They didn't live, nor did they survive. They just were.

"Sisters? Oh, oh!" Jecht said excitedly. "Ohio?! Oo! I really need to see someone there. I promised I would tell her if I was about go to my possible doom. I mean I seriously need to see her." He said picking up his cards again. "Just take a right up here then a left and a few other turns along the way." Jecht said seeming very glad and frantic at the same time to be seeing this person he was talking about again.

Dante raised an eyebrow. 'You promised you'd tell her if you were going to your doom? Really?' He muttered bemusedly. 'Why not just send her a postcard from the Underworld?'

 

Nikki's sorrowful voice was nearly inaudible. She glanced at Jecht, her eyes wide, and breathed, 'Go around Ohio. Far around. Ohio's where... where I became we. Please, go around it. Please.'

 

Deep in the underworld, Diana and Brandon were approached by a man, with pale white skin, and dark glasses over his eyes. The same glasses you would see any blind man wearing. 'Hello.' He said cordially. 'You wouldn't know where I can find a demigod by the name of Diana Kindred by any chance, would you?'

Diana stepped up. 'I'm Diana.'

'Ah, good.' Zelkiax replied. 'I've been sent by somebody named Marco.'

Diana visibly stiffened. 'M-Marco?...' She asked, her voice faltering.

'Yes, Marco. Do you know him?'

Diana took a step back. 'He's my brother.'

'Ah.' Zelkiax nodded. 'That explains the whole same last name thing. Anyway, follow me.'

'Um...' Diana faltered. 'Can Brandon come too?'

Zelkiax relented. 'Fine, but hurry. He won't stay where he was last for long.'

'Okay. Come on, Brandon.' And with that, Diana ran off, following a strange man through a stranger place.

"Yeah man! She said she would want to say goodbye and everything. She knew I was going to Camp Half-Blood and if I got a quest I promised her I would tell her." He said but then just barely heard what Nikki what said said. "We? Oh," He said then added "oh." again quietly. He didn't want Nikki to be sad, which was pretty hard considering she was mostly sorrow with her happiness in another body but he definatly would not make it worse for her. "Change of plans then let's get away from Ohio." He said thinking about Nikki's wellbeing. "I guess, I can call her, if she hasn't changed her number again." He said pulling out a cell phone and dailing a number. "Excuse me for a moment." He said turning towards the window. He muttered a few things before bursting out. "WHAT?! NO WAY!" He yelled out. "NO! NO! Gods!!!!" Jecht yelled throwing the phone onto the floor of the van.

[Corvidae]

'Well, don't leave it here!!!' Dante exploded. He picked up the phone and flung it out the window. 'I'm not paying for that.' He added, after watching it spark and fizzle when it smashed against the pavement.

 

Nikki smiled shyly at Jecht. 'Thanks.'

 

Damian was in a bad mood. That generally meant that somebody was going to die. Then again, people died near him when he was in a good mood, too. The boat he had forced his way onto was sinking. I didn't smash THAT many holes in the bottom. But either way, The boat was sinking and the lifeboats were gone. Now what? He thought to himself, while people screamed in terror around him. Then he grinned. I must admit, this is fun! Maybe I'll call for help from dad. He'd probably like to at least scare these mortals even more during their last breathing moments. So Damian prayed to his father, and Deimos answered. A huge sea serpent rose out of the waves, and Damian flung himself over the railing. He managed to land on the monster, and then he was carried, riding the beast, back to the nearest land. He got off. 'Maybe next time I'll just fly to Greece.'

OoC: I doubt you should have a phone Jetch it will atract Monsters. Mine is divinely protected use mine next time.

 

Brian looked at Jetch through his out burst. "Be careful with that phone the line might not be clear." He said looking at it fizzle quickly before looking back at the road. "I think my dad has some shoes you could use to see whoever you want. Ever since he got a deal with Chuck Taylor he has been sending me shoes." Brian scrolled through his phone and handed it to Jetch. "Take your pick, Martha and George will send them right over. And anyone else that might want a pair to get around, i dont need them since i have my caduces but i can get a ton." Sudenly there was a thud on the roof of the car and three claws poked through the roof. Brian swore and took his phone out. "we've got company, i knew that phone was a bad idea.' Brian said looking around the steering wheel. "where are the defences on this thing?!?!?" as they drove past a sign that said "Welcome to West Virginia." Before it was pelted by herpy poop and Brian looked up and saw a flock of them flying overhead.

Jecht was staring out of the window. "Your welcome." He said in a cold voice nodding but not turning away from the window as the surroundings came and went. "No, your shoes won't be able to get me where I want." He sad to Brian How could this happen?! It didn't. Of course it did I can't live in denial. He thought to himself. Of course I can. I can't! He thought litterally arguing with himself. She's gone and that's it, I can't do anything about it. Jecht wiped a single tear from his eye as he looked at the cards, muttered something, and flipped over the top card. Happyness, well, at least she'll be happy, but I still didn't get my goodbye. He thought then spoke up facing the window. "Hey guys, when we get to the underworld, assuming we don't die first, I'll need to do something, something important." Then the harpie's claws came through the roof. He drew his bow. "Well, you better pull over 'cause I'm not leanin' out that window again."

OoC: I love that line "You better pull over because im not leaning out that window again."

 

"Well ill need them to fight the ones in the air" he said a Red pair appearing on his feet. He pulled the car off onto the shoulder into a few bushes softer than usual for Nikki who had alot going on. He swithced his phone to sword mode and lept from the window slashing at the one on the roof, it disintigrated and the dust fell through the holes in the roof. Brian gained altitude quickly slashing off wings as he got higher and he hoped Jetch would snag falling harpies.

Jecht saw what Brian was doing and smiled. He jumped out and shot down the falling harpies, making it look like it was raining dust. "This is what I get for using a frikin phone. This sucks." He said shooting a harpy directly in the chest. Then Jecht yelled and fell to the ground revealing a smiling harpy with blood on its claws that ambushed Jecht. Jecht's back was burning in pain. He could hardly move but musted the strength to stab the harpy with one of his arrows and it desinigrated leaving Jecht on the ground blood dripping from his back.

Brian swung around his blade kicking three harpies in the chest. His sword turned into his caduces and he blasted the harpy near jetch and then turned his caduces back to a sword and Ran throuch a harpy bursting it into dust. "DANTE AND NIKKI DON"T JUST STAND THERE HELP JETCH!!!" Brian said slashing a HArpy sideways across the chest. His flight was graceful like he was born to fly and his kicks and slashes were great even when he was upside down or sideways. soon he had disintigrated half of them all alone.

ooc: Annabeth had a phone. She just never used it.

IC: Nikki jumped out of the van. 'Jecht!' She yelled. She ran over to him, and fed him a square of ambrosia, while Dante fought off harpies that tried to attack Nikki and Jecht.

 

Damian saw the battle and smiled. Then, he brought out a cell phone of his own, and dialed a number. 836-612-9034. The number was of an unused phone that Damian had kept especially for that purpose. He set the phone on vibrate, and then attached it silently and magnetically to the bottom of the van the questers were driving. Then he left, smiling evilly as he waited for the monsters to respond to the flare that was now permanently attached to their car.

OoC: She kept it off, and still Jetch atracted harpies that might've killed him so whats the lesson we learned today kids? lol jk

 

IC: Brian slashed faster and faster. Must help Jetch Brian thought slashing two harpies with one motion. His kicks did nothing but push them back. A harpy got smart and grabbed his foot ripping the shoe apart. Brian lost balance and fell towards the ground. His sword turned to a caduces and let out a burst of energy killing off all but about a dozen harpies. Who decided they werent going to wait a few years to get re born and flew off. The wings kicked in a bit to late and Brian slammed into the ground on his butt hard. "Oww." Brian said before passing out.

Jecht ate the ambrosia thankfully. "I'm- I'm okay." He said trying to atleast sit up but fell back down. The bleeding had stopped thanks to the ambrosia but Jecht couldn't move at all. He grunt and used his arm to hold himself up. "Okay, maybe not." his head was swirling from the sneak attack and he couldn't thinnk straight. His vision was slightly blurry. His eyes darted everywhere but his senses seemed to have slowed won and everything was blurred like he was looking at a picture taken by someone with shaky hands. Jecht looked up at Nikki and saw her for a moment then saw Brian on the ground, then looked up at Nikki again right before everything went dark.

 

OoC:I knew all about it and I was thinking about it when I was posting but Jecht wasn't thinking about it soooooo You can now admit defeat.

Nikki got up. 'Help me get them inside.' She told Dante.

'One sec.' Dante tried to kill the harpies, but he couldn't reach them with his blades.

'I'll get them.' Nikki picked up Jecht's bow, and notched three arrows. After she shot them, not a single arrow missed it's mark. She shot the rest of them in the same manner. Then Nikki went over to retrieve the arrows. 'Now then,' She said, 'Let's get these two back into the van.'

And so Nikki and Dante managed to carry the two unconcious demigods, Brian and Jecht, into the van. Nikki drove, with Dante staying in the back to tend to them. Unbeknownst to Dante, however, Nikki pressed a button hidden on the underside of the steering wheel, which activated the defensive system that had been active before Marissa had died.
