Mitsuko lifted her head a little more to look at people who had just arrived. From the conversation, it seemed as though these two were the ones she was supposed to be waiting for. The pair seemed to consist of a young woman, younger than the one who had been there before, and a teenage boy. She watched them with dull eyes. Someone said something about being paired up, but the girl didn't really pay attention - after all, she'd always been ignored and forgotten, why would that change now?

"Sure why not. Just remember, we are all on the same team for the moment, so don't go sucking me in the shadow realm." Tommy joked, not really knowing what a shadow duel felt like. He readied his duel disk which lit up and he drew five cards.

 

"You can have the first move if you wish." he told his opponent. 'Finally, some action Tommy thought

Kai giggled at the suggestion of a tournament of some sort. "Sounds like a blast," she chirped, turning her attention towards the female Dark Signers again. One of them seemed rather quiet and unattentive, while the other seemed, at first glance, to be virtually the exact opposite. Neither of them seemed to be wielding a weapon that she could see, nor did they have stained clothes, so Kai wasn't immediately sure which one of them had eliminated the other Yliaster people. Not that it really mattered, but she had nothing else to think about at the time.

Sazuka chuckled,"A duel sounds perfect, Hmmmm, I think I'll duel you ... Kai, was it? Since Ross has your little freind. You up for it?" Sazuka smiled her sweetest smile. despite her blood thirsty nature she was very attractive. She activated her Duel Disk and siad,"Living first."

At the challenge, Kai perked up and smiled, all previous thoughts of concern evaporating. "Sure," she said, taking her Duel Disk out from under her arm and sliding it onto arm. She reached down to the deck box at her waist and removed her deck, flicking through the cards rapidly, as if to familiarize herself with the deck build. With a casual flick of her wrist, she slid the card into the deckslot. The lights of the Disk flashed on and the LP counter rose to 8000 as the shuffling mechanism shuffled the cards. Kai carefully stepped over to the side of the room to give the other duel an appropriate amount of space, then pivoted to face Sazuka.

 

"Good luck!" she asked, playfully flicking five cards from the top of her deck to her hand, studying the hand and swiftly rearranging them. "My turn, draw!" she chirped, drawing a sixth card. She hummed to herself, taking her time to decide on a move.

 

"I summon Infernity Archfiend!" she said finally, slapping a card onto her disk's monster zones. A tall fiendish being dressed in a flowing blue robe appeared, blinking its four eyes towards Sazuka (Level 4, ATK: 1800, DEF: 1200). Kai looked at her remaining cards, taking two of them and slipping them into her spell and trap card slots. "And I'll end my turn with these two! Your turn...er...what was your name?" Kai asked, giggling with slight sheepishness.

"Sazuka," she said a little perterbed. "Draw" She scanned her Hand. "Ahh, I Summon Blackwing - Sirocco The Dawn" LV:5 ATK:2000 DEF:900 "I can do this because you control monsters and I don't. Next I Speical Summon Black - Bora The Speer." LV:4 ATK:1700 DEF:800 "Now I activate Heavy Storm which destroys all Spells and Traps. Now that the way is clear attack Sirocco blow away that Infernity" The archfiend vanished in a flurry of sparks. "Bora attack directly" 200+1700=1900. 8000-1900=6100. "Your move"

Kai giggled and waggled her finger chidingly. "Haven't you ever heard of chainable traps? I'll activate both facedowns! Infernity Inferno and Karma Cut!" She giggled and discarded one card. "Karma Cut will remove your Bora the Spear from play at the cost of one card."

 

A dimensional split appeared behind the spear-wielding avian and began drawing it inside, the Blackwing struggling fruitlessly. Kai smirked. "I don't want that piercing monster around."

 

"And now let's talk about Infernity Inferno. It allows me to discard up to two cards from my hand..." she proceeded to send both remaining cards to her graveyard. "And then I can send Infernity monsters from my deck to the grave equal to the number of cards I discarded."

 

Humming to herself, she plucked two cards from her deck and showed them to Sazuka. "Infernity Revenger and Infernity Destroyer," she giggled and slipped them into her graveyard. "And, one of the cards I discarded this turn was known as Dandylion. When it's sent to the graveyard, I summon two fluff tokens!"

 

Two small seedlings appeared on either side of Infernity Archfiend. (DEF: 0)

Kai winced slightly as her monster shattered, but then smiled and withdrew a card from her graveyard. "When I have no cards in my hand and a monster is destroyed in battle, I can Special Summon Infernity Revenger from my graveyard and it becomes the same level as the monster that was destroyed." She placed the card on her disk and a small, mechanical cowboy-like monster appeared, laughing and showing razor sharp teeth and brandishing two pistols. (Level 4, DEF: 0)

Ross picked up the top card of his deck. "I'll play a monster in face down defence position. Then I'll set a card and end my turn."

"Hmmm, Yah I'm done"

Kai nodded and giggled. "Draw!" she announced, flicking a card swiftly from her deck. Her Handless Combo was all but set and now her opponent was about to pay the price for letting her set it up. Had Heavy Storm been played before the monsters, she would not have been able to use Karma Cut and had been left with one card in hand. She glanced at the card she drew and her expression lit up.

 

"I summon Infernity Mirage!" she squealed, placing the card on her disk. A semi-transparent shaman appeared, its robe flapping in an invisible wind. (ATK: 0) Kai rubbed her hands together.

 

"I activate Mirage's ability. When my hand is empty, I can tribute it to summon 2 Infernity monsters from my graveyard! So I'll send it now..." she slipped the card into her graveyard and removed two cards, flashing them towards Sazuka. "For Infernity Destroyer and Infernity Archfiend!" She slapped both cards onto her disk and watched as the two monsters formed, flanking her fluff tokens and Revenger.

 

A large fiend crossed his arms, glowering at Sirrocco. (Level 6, ATK: 2300 DEF: 1000) On the opposite site of the field, the robed Infernity Archfiend snickered. (Level 4, ATK: 1800 DEF 1200). Kai giggled. "When Infernity Archfiend is Special Summoned when my hand is empty, I can add one Infernity card from my deck to my hand! I choose the trap card Infernity Break!" she said, showing the card to Sazuka and slipping into her spell and trap card zone.

 

"Now then..." the Yliaster duelist mused, thinking carefully. "I tune my Level 4 Infernity Revenger with my Level 4 Infernity Archfiend!" The cowboy-esque monster leapt into the air and vanished into four green rings. The robed fiend floated up to pass through the rings, dissolving into four white stars. A pillar of light erupted from the rings.

 

"Come forth, Infernity Death Dragon!" Kai giggled hysterically as her prized monster appeared. It was a fierce dragon with a bladed horn, it's head a mess of gnarled curls,with eyes peering towards the opposing monster. Leathery wings flapped from its back and its tail thrashed. Infernity Destroyer looked up respectfully at the powerful dragon. (Level 8, ATK: 3000 DEF: 2400)

 

"Now, Infernity Destroyer, attack Sirroco!" Kai ordered. The fiend lunged towards Sirrocco and brought its fist down upon the Blackwing. "When Infernity Destroyer destroys a monster in battle while my hand is empty, my opponent takes 1600 points of damage!" Kai explained with a giggle.

"Not so fast, you little brat. i activate the effect of Kalut the Moon Shadow, by sending it from my hand to the graveyard. I can raise Sirocco's ATK by 1300." 2000+1300=3300.

Mitsuko had looked up as the duels began, watching. She looked bored, and perhaps she was, but in truth if there was anything in the world that she wouldn't find boring, it was dueling. She was as close to fascinated as she ever got any more. If anyone had looked away from the duels and towards the girl they may have noticed that she seemed to have sat up a little straighter, and she stared at the closest duel - that between the two women - with a look that seemed to be boredom but for her was excitement. If anyone had watched her for any length of time they might also notice that she didn't seem to be blinking enough, the only hint that the appearance of boredom on her face was just an appearance.

Kai frowned a little, but she had expected that. Infernity Destroyer groaned and exploded into pixels. "Very well, since Infernity Destroyer was destroyed in battle while my hand was empty, I summon my Infernity Revenger back!" (Level 6, DEF: 0)

 

"I enter my second Main Phase," Kai announced. "My hand is empty, so I activate Infernity Death Dragon's effect! Once per turn, if it didn't battle, I can automatically destroy one of your monsters! And then half it's ATK points get dealt to you as damage!" She flicked her fingers at the opposing Blackwing. "Meet Death, Sirroco the Dawn!" she whispered.

 

Infernity Death Dragon growled and launched a stream of fire towards Sirroco, shattering it instantly. Kai giggled. "Sirroco's ATK was 3400, so that's 1700 points of damage!"

 

She paused for another moment, then nodded. "I end my turn."

Sazuka drew her card in silence and stared at her cards. "I activate the Spell card Black Whirlwind. Then I Normal Summon Blackwing-Shura The Blue Flame and thanks to my spell I can add 1 Blackwing from my deck to my hand as long as its ATK is lower than Shura's so I'll pull another Kalut." she said flashing the card just long enough for her opponent to see "I set a card and Shura attack her blasted Dragon."

Kai nodded. "Then I'm sure you expect this. Trap activate! Infernity Break! By removing one 'Infernity' card from my graveyard while my hand is empty, I can destroy one of your cards. Destroy Shura!"

 

The trap card flipped up and Kai removed her Infernity Inferno trap from the graveyard, placing it inside her deck box. A fissure opened up in the ground and white lightning rose up from the crack, engulfing Shura.

"Well then seems like I'm gonna have to be the first to go on offensive. I activate Double Summon, and with its power I can summon twice this turn. Now for my first monster Pitch Black Warwolf."

 

A jet black Werewolf rose from the ground and bared its sharp teeth.

Kai nodded and drew, quickly analyzing the situation. The card in her opponent's hand was undoubtedly Kalut, which meant that Blackwing monsters could essentially overpower her own if she chose to attack one or vice versa. Black Whirlwind could help her opponent search for more monsters once she Normal Summoned one, but it was harmless at the time being. Aside from that, there was only one facedown card on the field. Kai flicked her attention towards the card she drew.

 

"I summon Infernity Guardian!" She announced, slapping the card onto the disk. A shield floated out of the summoning portal, marked in the center with a burning skull. (Level 4, ATK: 1200, DEF: 1700)

 

"Then I tune my Level six Infernity Revenger with both of my level one Fluff Tokens to Synchro Summon another Infernity Death Dragon!" Kai giggled as a twin of her first dragon appeared, growling fiercely. (Level 8, ATK: 3000, DEF: 2400)

 

"I shall start my attacks with my Infernity Death Dragon number 1!" Kai announced. The dragon growled and exhaled a mighty burst of fire towards Sazuka. Kai clenched her fist. If all three attacks went through, she'd win...

"I don't think so, if your the best Yliaster has then the Signers will take you out no problem. Trigger Trap, Mirror Force. Your Guardian may survive but your Dragons sure as hell won't,"she cackled as the dragons own flame rebound on itself and turned the dragons to ash. "Is that it or did you have some other hair-brained scheme in mind?"

Kai sighed. She had seen THAT coming too. Every move of the duel had been so predictable, from the first turn Heavy Storm, to the Kalut in her opponent's hand, to even the Mirror Force. Maybe she had just dueled too many Blackwing wannabes in her dueling life that she could read a Blackwing Duelist with such ease. The question she had been asking herself is why she kept walking right into the strategies and traps she saw coming so clearly. The answer was simple. If by some chance the trap didn't exist, she'd win the duel.

 

"Guardian hit directly. Turn End," she said, managing a smile regardless.

Sazuka could tell Kai was bored. If her stratigy was so obvious the why walk right into it? "Draw, I Normal Summon another Sirocco, and now I get a monster with 2000 or less ATK thanks to Black Whirlwind so I pull another Bora and Speical Summon it. Next I'll trip Sirocco's effect and dump all its ATK to Bora which means Bora gains 2000 ATK. Bora attack!" Bora thrust it's lance into the sheild. It endured but 2500 damage went through. "I end"

Kai grunted as her lifepoints dropped to 4200. "My turn!" she announced, narrowing her eyes at the field. With Sirrocco and Bora out, her lifepoints weren't going to be safe, even with Infernity Guardian's inability to be destroyed. And with a Kalut still waiting in the wings, battling the monsters wasn't an option.

 

She drew her card vigorously and glanced at it. "I summon Infernity Necromancer!" A purple robed necromancer materialized, grinning. Kai promptly switched it to a sideways position on her disk. "When it's Normal Summoned, it's placed in defense position," she explained with a giggle. (Level 3, ATK: 0 DEF: 2000) "And when my hand is empty, I can Special Summon one Infernity monster from my graveyard! I choose Infernity Archfiend!"

 

The fiend waved its hands and a purple robed fiend reappeared, spinning around dramatically before glaring towards Sazuka. (Level 4, ATK: 1800 DEF: 1200) "And when Archfiend is Special Summoned when I have an empty hand, I can add one Infernity card from my deck to my hand. An easy choice is Infernity Gun!" Kai explained, giggling and showing her opponent the Spell Card.

 

"I activate Infernity Gun! Once per turn, I can discard an Infernity monster from my hand to the graveyard. If my hand is empty, I can send the Gun to the graveyard to Special Summon up to 2 Infernity monsters from my Graveyard!" Kai continued, the contraption vanishing as soon as it appeared. "Return now, Infernity Death Dragons!"

 

In a flash of white light, the two roaring dragons had returned to the field, growling threateningly at the two Blackwing monsters. (Level 8, ATK: 3000) x2

 

"In exchange for my two Dragons not attacking this round, I destroy both of your Blackwings, and half their attack points are dealt to you as damage," Kai said, starting to grin widely. "Meet Death, Sirroco the Dawn and Bora the Spear!" she hissed. Her two dragons inhaled and launched powerful fireballs at the bird creatures, shattering them apart easily.

 

"Half of their combined attack power is 1850. And while my Dragons can't attack this round, Infernity Guardian and Infernity Archfiend certainly can! Go, direct attack!" Kai said, bouncing on her heels like a schoolgirl. This was the power of her duel. This was what happened when Infernities were backed into a corner.

"Draw, I activate Pot of Avarice. I pick 5 monsters in the graveyard, shuffle them into my Deck and draw two cards." She added 2 Sirocco, 2 Bora, and a single Kalut to her Deck shuffel it several times and drew 2 cards. "I Summon Shura and I can pull a Blackwing with less ATK than Shura so I draw Gale from my Deck and Speical Summon it. Next I tune them together to Synchro Summon Armormaster." She started to laugh. She still had two cards in her hand and she was going to win them.

 

"Armormaster is powerful but not powerful enough. I remove from play Armormaster to Speical Summon Dark Tuner Tropishere" LV:10 ATK:0 DEF:0 "When I Speical Summon Tropishere I can Speical Summon a level 4 or lower monster from my hand." She slammed the last card in her hand onto her duel disk. Kalut being as menacing as it could. LV:3 ATK:1400 DEF:1000. Next I tune them together. The stars shudder with divine power. Planets turn to glass. For when darkness overlaps darkness the gates of the underworld open to reveal a world without light. Dark Synchro Summon! Destroy All Life, Universal Dragon!" LV:7 ATK:3200 DEF:1250.

 

"When Tropishere is used in a Dark Synchro Summon I can add 1 Earthbound Immortal from my deck to my hand." Sazuka grinned as she drew the card that seathed with power. "Universal Dragon attack Infernity Guardian."

Kai watched Sazuka's last few moves without comment, but inside she was bursting with glee. New cards she had never seen before! Strangely, Sazuka hadn't bothered using Gale's effect to make her take more damage or take out any of her stronger monsters. This made her wary. Without any Spell or Trap cards on her field, she would have thought taking out her Death Dragons would be the most sensible move Sazuka could have made. As for the Dark Synchro...that was odd. It had 3200 attack points, but the effort to summoning it seemed absurd! With that in mind, it had to be powerful.

 

"My turn, draw!" Kai announced and glanced at the card she drew. A smile flicked across her face. "Quick Play Magic, Book of Moon! I'll flip your Dark Synchro to defense mode!" It was here. Victory was in her grasp.
