How To Become a "Great" Card Maker

Okay everyone here wants to be a "Great" Card Maker!

 

First you have to learn from the beginning to become the best,you have to cover every step,every way and everything!

 

Making the card:

 

To make a unique card think of the idea yourself something that might relate or help modern day cards and modern day card need them.An important this is looking for the right picture like search from Photoucket,Yahoo,Google,deviant art and tinypic!These are the most useful websites that i use.

 

After you have searched for the right picture and effect start making the card.First think of the effect how to improve it.Try not to "Over-"improve the effect thus it would become overpowered for Example:

Effect Unimproved:"When this card destroys a monster by battle destroy another card on the field."

Effect Balenced:"When this card destroys a monster by battle destroy another card on the field. Send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to activate this effect."

 

Okay after you have done that think for proper ATK and DEF points.Dont make it too high that with it's effect it becomes "Indestructable".Think for a level that matches the ATK,DEF and effect also.Try to make it related to most cards but think of they will make this card "Overpowered" before making it!

 

Leveling Cards:

 

Well Here is how to Make a correct Level(number or Stars) for cards!

 

1 Star(*):Making a 1 star monster is not very hard.It can be easily understood.For examle a monster which has no effect and a 1 stard would most probably be from 0 ATK Points to 500 ATK points.An effect monster which is a 1 star depends on the effect:Very effective=0-100 ATK points.Effective=200-500(depends on the effect).

 

2 Stars(**):This is Even easier a Normal 2 star monster would havd a max of 800 ATK or DEF points.On the effect it depends as well some level 2 star monsters have 0 ATK and DEF points because of their effect.A 2 star should be more useful than a 1 Star.

 

3 Stars(***):Okay a 3 Star Normal monster depends on the type of cards you want it to be..Defensive with high DEF points and low ATK points or Attackitive with Mid ATK points and Low Def Points.With an effect there could be some difference.Effects Like "Pay 1000 Life Points to keep this card on the field." or "Tribute 1 monster during your End Phase to keep this card on the field.".A 3 Star effect monster could help in many ways other than attack or defence.Try to not make the effect Stronger than 1 level 4 star monster.

 

4 Stars(****):A 4 star monster is the highest monster that does not need any tributes.A 4 star is useful in many ways.It could have a "good" effect and still have "good" Attack and Defecn points.A Normal 4 Star monster could maybe have 1900 ATK points Max but with low DEF points.It could also have High DEF with low ATK points.Simpily a 4 Star is an upgraded 3 Star monster.

 

5 Stars(*****):A 5 Star Monster need 1 tribute.Now effects are harder to make.Example you could use the "Tribute Summon" to help this card like Monarch,but that won't be very "Orignal".5 Star monsters usually have attack points that are 2000 or more depending on the effect.Normal monster might have 2400 ATK points any less than that for a normal monster would be "Underpowered".

 

6 Stars(*******):A 6 Star monster need one tribute as well.6 Star monster usually have Great effects that are very helpful.6 Star normal monsters are the same as 5 stars but 6 stars might go up to 2500 with like low defence 1000.

 

7 Stars(*******):A 7 star monster needs 2 tributes and any monster above a 7 star need 2 tributes as well.7 Star monster have Awensome effect are good attack and defence points.7 star monster usually take time to get out but not in stall decks.

 

8 Stars(********):A 8 star monster is like a 7 Star but upgraded.8 star normal monsters have like 2800-3000 ATK points and 2100-2600 DEF points or 3000 DEF points and 2300-2600 ATK points.8 Star monster are as useful as 7 stars in effect,maybe a little more.

 

9 Stars(*********) + 10 Stars(**********) + 11 Stars (***********) + 12 Stars (************):These are the highes level of monsters.They dont differ from a 7 star or 8 star monster that much except with a little better effect.Usually these cards have this in their effect "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by tributing 3 monsters from your side of the field."

 

Traps:

Traps are a great way to trick your opponent unlike monster they do not need stars or ATK and DEF points.They are used to give your opponent a disadvantage at everyway(some give advantages but if used in a combo they give a BIG disadvantage).Traps are usually used in the battle phase.

 

Continous:

Traps can be continous like their effect dont end until they are destroyed.

 

Counter:

These traps are used to counter effects like spell effects trap efffects and monster effects.

 

Spells:

Are used to give you an advantage.

 

Equip:

Are equipped to a monster and cannot be destroyed until the card is detroyed by a card effect or the equipped monster is destroyed.

 

Quick-play:

Can be played at any time in the duel.Quick-play spells can be played from your hand during your Battle Phase only.

 

 

Continous:

*Explained in Traps*

 

Ritual:

Are used to bring out a ritual monster

 

Field:

They have a place of their own.Other than the space of spells and traps.They give an advatage or disadvatage to certain types of card.

 

Note:

Traps can only be activated after 1 turn of being set.Unless an effecr is used.

Spells can only be activated in your turn at any time.Quick-play spells can be played from your hand during your Battle Phase ONLY!

Trap

Spell

Deck

Graveyard

Tip: Post your cards to see how good you are and how to improve yourself!

 

New Types:You can start your own new type as long as they all go under the same way,or sub-type,which is like gemini.

 

Counters:You can make your own counters like "Super-Counter" or "Power-Counter".These are not OCG mistakes but they are new things created by you!

That was pretty much what I was about to post.

 

Anyways, I found this tutorial lacking some spelling and grammar. It could've been better. The leveling part was sort of, "off". You made some minor mistakes there. Other than that, it's pretty good.

 

If you'd like, I'll make a level 12 monster with a rather difficult and complicated effect, so thatt you can post an example in the first post.

dude this helped me alot so much for my bro welll u gave him a sesirue and he had to go to the hospital turns out u put to much words out for him to read guess how old he is 15!!!!!!!AND he is in the 10th grade oh dude ur right raferagel or wat ever his name was(like u no)was spamming and ur probally thinking im spamming to :(

Or if you make a set that has an effect that could not be determined by OCG, you'll have to make it yourself. Example:(The Side Deck must contain 15 cards. If the number of cards in your Side Deck exceeds 15, discard card(s) from your Side Deck to the Graveyard until your Side Deck contains 15 cards. If it is below 15, send "Side" card(s) from your Deck to your Side Deck until the Side Deck contains 15 cards.)
