Clawfang gasped as the vampire snatched him out of the hole and pulled him out onto a rooftop. He landed with an oomph, then stood, and morphed back to his human form. Now Jason, he looked at Razu, and blushed. "I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get so angry at you. Please, don't worry about me. I can take care of myself." Jason looked down at himself; he was a mess. He had a bloody leg, a bloody shoulder, and now bloody knuckles. "After all, I am the...former...beta male of the Blackclaws. A few scratches won't..." Then, from the pain and the loss of blood, Jason fainted, and collapsed in a heap on the rooftop at Radu's feet.

When Jason awoke, Dominique was attending to him.

"Good morning, sleepyhead. You've been out since the night before last. Radu brought you back here, and the window's been repaired. The Foerus Cruorem is still debating the fate of Taiga."

Jason stirred, and felt a fire spread across his body. I must have hurt myself worse than I had fist imagined. Otherwise, why would I be feeling such a fierce and intense pain? Jason tried to sit up, and felt a sharp sting in his chest. He gave a sharp cry of pain, and fell back onto the bed.

"Who..." he rasped, "who brought me here? And who took care of me while I was out?"

"I did!"

Tanya popped into view.

"You know, Radu didn't hire me just for my good looks. I was in Vietnam, from '65 to '69, when I was converted by a local Vietcong vampire and forced to be his...well...you can probably guess."

"I was so overjoyed when Radu came along and killed the b*****d! He also sent me to several 'schools', wher I learned everything from politics to assassination to how to perform almost any kind of surgery."

"Now, I'm his aide-de-camp and personal assistant!"

Jason nodded in thanks. So, Tanya is kinder than I at first took her to be. Just another lesson to not judge people before you know them. Then, Jason motioned toward his body. "If, Tanya, it was you who brought me here, then could you be so kind and truthful as to tell me what hidden wounds I have sustained? I am pained more than I should be by such wounds as those of the flesh." And why am I talking like I'm some weird freak from the Shakespeare era? he thought. I do not usually speak in such a way. It must be some drug...or the weariness from my exertions.

"We drugged you." Tanya smiled.

"Don't worry! You're not bleeding internally. You just have slight traces of aconite extract in your system. We had to mix a bit of the aconite into the tranquilizer to get you knocked out. It's not enough to kill you! I swear!"

Jason nodded. "Thank you for bearing such concern for me. Now, as I questioned before, could one of you, or the other, explain to me what it is that is paining me. I would like to know, and do not like to be kept in waiting." Though I do not wish to harm anyone...oh, what should happen if another fit of rage befalls me and I harm someone I love! I would kill myself, simply to end the agony that I would put on myself. But...no. Such a thing will not happen. I will control myself, though I could not before. I would do anything to keep those I love alive.

"You don't know what aconite is?" Tanya was shocked.

"It's the technical term for wolfsbane. Werewolf poison. Some of the symptoms of aconite poisoning in werewolves are intense burning pain, check. Brain damage, check. Paralysis, check. And finally, lack of memory, check!"

"Now that you're human again, it's time to give you the anit-aconite cocktail! Just hold still!"

Tanya prepared a syringe with a green fluid and got ready to inject it into Jason...

Jason watched the syringe warily. They put aconite...wolfsbane...in me? I'm glad that I am in my human form. Otherwise,...wouldn't I have...have died? Jason saw Tanya prepare the syringe, and held it right above Jason's arm. He pulled away slightly, still wary, and looked into Tanya's eyes.

"And what, please tell me, is this substance that you now want to inject into my body? Not poison, I can guess...would it be some sort of thing that dilutes the poison that is currently in my body, maybe even eliminates it?"

"A special chemical compound that can steam the aconite within your bloodstream and infuse it with giger, making it harmless." Tanya replied as she injected the chemical into Jason. The burning snsation was replaced by an extreme feeling of warmth. "If you were a human, the chemical would've killed you. But you aren't, so now that yo0ur blood is quite literally boiling, we can have you cured within a few hours!"

"Also, we've evacuated your digestive system about half an hour after we sedated you so some of the gastrointestinal effects of aconite wouldn't have affected you. Tha might explain your hunger. The verdict is still undecided why you're talking like a Shakespearean actor..."

Dominique simply embraced her love tightly.

"I don't care if he starts speaking Swahili! I still love you!"

((Second, now I'll stop. Sorry, it got in my head because I was currently reading a Shakespeare play))

 

Jason smiled up at Dominique. "Sorry, sweetie. I don't know any Swahili. Just Italian a little bit of French that I picked up from you." Jason tried to sit up, but again, the agony that spread across his body was too much, and he fell back with a sigh. Only a few more hours...then I will be able to move again. Oh...Dominique, there is not enough time in the universe to tell you how much I love you. Jason looked lovingly at Dominique, then turned to Tanya. "You said I'll be fine in a few hours. Is there any possible way that you could be any more accurate?"

"Nope!" Tanya continued to cheerfully smile in her nurse outfit. "It will probably take 4-6 hours to get all of the aconite steamed, so just lie there and let your lovely little bride-to-be take care of you!"

She then left Dominique and Jason alone.

"So..." Dominique seductively purred. "It's currently 1 in the afternoon. The sun will be setting in a few hours. Once all of the aconite is out of your system, want to continue where we left off a few days ago?"

Jason growled playfully. "I'd love to 'continue where we left off.' But I have a question." I hope that she doesn't kill me when I ask her this...of course, I hope I don't kill myself for asking this either. "Um...are we still going to get married? I mean, with everything that's happening, I...I totally forgot that we were sentenced to be separated from each other, and held from marrying...for a...very long time. If...if you would like to..." Jason reached down, and out of his pocket, pulled the ring that she had given him, albeit the box was now pretty much shattered. "Will you...still...marry me?"

Dominique kissed him on the lips.

"Why wouldn't I? Daddy's already approved of it."

She then recoiled, a puzzled look on her face.

"What about your family? You never talk about them. Ever..."

((I'm not trying to be rude. It's just, as co-owner (yes, I'm the coowner) I have to try and prevent such a thing.))

 

Jason turned away from her, and a note of sadness entered his voice. "You...you don't w-need to hear about my family." The truth was, Jason was holding a terrible secret. He was holding it from everyone he knew: his pack, Dominique, his alpha male...former alpha male...even the father of his fiance. "Maybe someday, when we are married...when I feel that I will not terrify you, or risk losing you...then maybe I will tell you about my family."

"Well..."

Dominique looked around, and dialed a phone number on her cell.

"Daddy! It's Dominique! Could you please turn off the cameras and bugs in the room for just a little while? I will know if you haven't.....Yes, I know of every single bug.....I can HEAR them, Daddy! Jeez! You think you would remember that our daughter has enhanced hearing!....I'm sorry for snapping at you, Daddy. I just want some alone time with Jason.....Of course, I'll activate the special blinds and soundproof the room.....Thank you, Daddy!"

A very faint buzzing sound abruptly stopped. Dominique placed a finger on Jason's lips as she closed her eyes. After a few seconds, she got up.

"Bugs are off. Let me just activate a few security measures..."

She flicked what looked like an ordinary light switch, except it caused a bunch of metal plates to move in front of the plate-glass window while Dominique got out several cone-shaped devices and placed them throughout the room. Once the window was sealed and the cone-shaped devices were in place and activated, Dominique returned to Jason.

"The plates prevent anyone from using a laser to read the vibrations of the windowpane, while the cones are literal 'Cones of Silence', replacing our noise with the noise of normal actions like walking, talking, and doing things. In case you haven;t figured it out, Daddy and the rest of his compatriots are VERY paranoid."

Jason nodded, almost laughing. Then, he came up with a strange question. "Why are you soundproofing the room? You're not planning anything, are you?" Of course, if you are planning something, then I will do whatever I can in my power to help you, and to support you. Jason struggled, and, after a few minutes, managed to pull himself up into a sitting position. God, that hurts. I hope that this isn't what it's going to feel like for the next six hours!

Dominique laughed at this question as if it were the silliest question that she had ever heard!

"You really don't get it, do you?!? I'm making it so that you can tell me what's troubling you right now."

She grabbed his head, and turned it so that they could look into each other's eyes. Dominique's radiated warmth and compassion.

"I care about you, and I want to help you get this off of your chest. This is probably the best place for you to tell me and me alone. If we want to have this relationship, we need to be able to trust each other. If you tell me about your family, I will reciprocate by telling you everything Daddy has told me about the Foerus Cruorem, and our current position in their plans."

Jason nodded. "If you really want to hear what...what I did...

 

"It actually started only a few days after I had been put in the human world to be raised. I was about...ten. I had only just begun learning how to control my wolf side. I had not yet gained complete control, and I was still extremely dangerous in my wolf form. Of course, those who raised me told me this, but, being the child I was, I ignored them. I often went outside in the middle of the night, and shifted against my 'parents'' wishes.

 

"Then, one day...I...I lost complete control. It was midnight of a full moon, my first full moon as a wolf, and it was more than anything I had ever experienced. I had changed into my hybrid form...and that was the beginning. The moon took over." Jason paused, and tears began to slowly fall from his eyes.

Dominqiue put two and two together, and started to tear up as well.

She leaned in close to her mate, sobbing gently, feeling his pain.

"I know how you felt. It took me months to finally have some semblance of control over my werewolf form, and I always feared the worst. You helped me, because the wolf side of me that I was trying to supress almost took full control of me the night you saved me. You have served as an anchor for my human self ever since I first met you."

"Now continue. We need to get through this together."

Jason nodded. "Thank you...

 

"Though I had lost control, I still had some vestiges of humanity, and so could still watch what I was doing. I...I massacred the entire town. Not a single person was left alive; the dirt ran red with blood. And...I liked it, that taste of blood on my lips. Even my adoptive parents were among those that I murdered.

 

"Finally, when the sun arose, I changed back to my human form. I spent the next two weeks burying everyone...everyone I had grown up with. My family, my friends, people who hated me, people who loved me. I can't remember how many times I just stopped and cried."

Dominique continued to snuggle up against Jason.

"I think I heard about that in the news a long time ago...I don't quite remember the name of the town, or what the government said what happened, but I do know one thing: Daddy was very angry after that story came out. I have never seen him so upset in my entire life, even when I disobeyed his orders and went to concerts without an escort or a bodyguard! To this day, I still can't believe that my father has all of that RAGE inside of him!"

She noticed Jason was still crying, and grabbed a box of Kleenex, which she then opened. She took a few sheets and dabbed at her lover's eyes.

"So, what happened next?"

Taiga finally woke up after all she was tired from all that running so she was out for a while,"Hey anyone there let me out of here already I want to get a bath and get a change of clothes I may not mind wearing dirty clothes to much, but there is only so far I will go!" she yelled to whoever was watching her because she was sure somebody was, "Like I said before I am no enemy I am a business person for the most part and the main reason I am here chasing after them is to pay back ClawFang for slapping me by slapping him because I hate it when people look down on me and do stuff like that!" she finished.

He had not heard from his sister in a while so he decided to head after her, that was yesterday now he was in Canada. He arrived outside of the building Taiga was in and shifted to his human form, "Hey my name is Kira leader of the BlackClaws and I would like to see my sister whom I know is in this building and so you know I come in peace and wish top harm nobody unless of course you hurt my sister. So are you going to let me in or what?" he said to nobody but knew somebody was watching and had heard him.

Jason blinked as Dominique dabbed at his eyes.

 

"My pack...they abandoned me. They left me, and they left me to die. I was left alone in a village of corpses, with no supplies. The food in the town had rotted, and so I had no possible hope for survival. But I held on to the one thing that saved me: my humanity; my human will to live. It was that that caused me to think. And I decided...I decided that I would leave the town, and never come back.

 

I roamed the country for seven years, and did whatever I could to hide that small bit of werewolf that resided in me. But no matter how hard I tried, every full moon, it was released, and I just had to kill...I did kill. After I had murdered another family, and devoured them, my mind...and my body, made a decision. I would never kill again. But now...I think I am going to have to break that vow...that credo...so that I can protect the ones I love."

Dominique wept on Jason's chest.

"Thank you. I've always wondered about your family, and why you would never kill, but now I know, and now I want to make a new family with you."

She wiped the tears from her eyes, sighed, and calmed herself down.

"Alright. Here's what I know. The Foerus Cruorem isn't the first such alliance of its kind. Vampires, werewolves, and humans have been making pact for centuries. Daddy told you about Rome and Egypt, but only in the dark hours of the mid-14th century did the nobility, tired of constant church intervention, vampires and werewolves, hunted down becuse of the killing they committed, and the Catholic Church, an institute that wanted to purify humanity by exterminating anything and everything supernatural."

"The Black Plague wasn't a plague after all, but the bloodiest war in the history of this planet. Hitler's Holocaust only reached a fraction of the casualties in this monstruous conflict. On the surface, it just seemed that people were randomly dropping like flies, but they were actually killed by a messy conflict in the shadows between the various vampiric lords, their werewolf servants, the nobility, and the Church. It all started out with a werewolf uprising in Budapest, which culminated into a massive insurrection against their vampiric masters. The movie series Underworld was loosely based on this rebellion."

"With new vampires and werewolves being born on both sides, the Church was called into action, enforcing martial law across all of Europe, sending out any soldiers they had to kill anyone sspected of being a vampire or a werewolf."

"But the nobility of these various countries were afraid that this would be the creation of a new world order where the Church controlled everything, making a new feudal society, but one without the nobles. They fought back against the Church forces to defend the status quo."

"The war lasted three bloody years, during which the planetary population dropped from around 450 million to about 300 million in that short time."

"That means one out of every three people on the planet died."

"This also includes the vampire and werewolf populations, which were all but annihilated."

"The last remaining vampire lords, the Alphas of the few surviving packs, several nobles that hadn't been killed, and the newly-elected Pope convened in the catacombs of Rome."

"They agreed that this war must NEVER happen again, and therefore some sort of higher power must be held above all of them to make sure the world never saw the horror of the Black Wars."

"So the Foedus Cruorem was born in the dark depths of Rome, and the war was covered up and retold as a massive plague. To this day, no one outside of the Foedus can find any evidence of this war, even if they knew what they were looking for."

She stopped to let all of this sink in.
