Rap does involve sex' date=' drugs, woman, and money but doesn't all music?

[/quote']

No. Not all music deals with that.

Get that fact straight.

And there's something called an opinion. People have the right to it.

I was just naming a the general stuff. There also love, personal thoughts and what not.

I KNOW people have a right to an opinion but at least give a respectful one.

So black metal is about sex' date=' drugs, women, and money?

In fact, none of the music I listen to is about sex, drugs, women, or money.

[/quote']

Like I said, I was just naming some of the generals. Music can be about anything and everything, good or bad. Its whatever...

Well I can't say you guys don't have a right to tell your opinion because you do it ALL THE TIME.

But an opinion becomes mushy when it's drenched with half-assed stereotypes that don't even count anymore.

It's not just not liking something because YOU think this or that is bad for your ears, NOOOOOO it has to be some universal stereotype rule.

"Well bad voice, lyrics aren't well-written and I hate how they didn't use any instruments in this song. This is just bad."

"I'm god and I pronounce the universal law: EACH AND ALL Rapp is autotuned, about iPods pads now, naked women and always a lowly sound with lowly lyrics made by lowly humans. EVERY SINGLE THING that has Metal in it however is automatically awesome! With such a name, the lyrics can NEVER be crappy and there will NEVER be stereotypical Metal that always uses the same sound and lyrics. And the fact of having a guitar is automatically awesome anyway, even if the guy can't play it for sheet."

Yeah... Just saying, I could name at least a dozen of crappy bands in every genre.:?

im a hudge stereotype when it comes to music. As you might have seen on my one thread. But as much as i do hate some kinds of music. I respect peoples opinions on music. Some kind of music that people call music isnt even music but thats what they like, not me. And i think music doesnt have to have a meaning. It doesnt have to be a deep poem in order it to be music

Hey look, it's Herman Li.

xD Oh yeah, most overrated guitarist ever.T_T

Alexi Laiho is also quite overrated but not as much and still better than Dragonforce.

Trust me that's not a positive thing.xD

Well I think it should have some kind of meaning, not necessarily lyrics. I love Touhou music that doesn't have lyrics half of the time.:3 But it has a meaning, the songs are always made for the characters and their story.

Im am i cant help. But i pretty much make fun of all music including the one's i like so its not like im only a stereotype to just 2 types of music. [sarcastic=] That makes sense XD [/sarcastic]

If its a good song and it has no meaning, it doesnt matter, its still a song

I hope that got your attention. Now I bet when you saw the title of this thread you were going to defend your favorite music genre with all your heart. Thats how important music is to people and it really bugs me when I see people post comments that say rap' date=' rock, or country suck (not a fan of country music though).

Why is everyone such a stereo type when it comes to music? No body seems to like rap and if they do, they claim to like old school or REAL rap artist. Basically your trashing everyone else when you say that. Rap does involve sex, drugs, woman, and money but doesn't all music?

Everybody also complains that all GOOD music needs meaning. There is some truth in that but not every single song a rock, rap, or country star makes is suppose to have a deep moralistic meaning. Some music is made just for the sake of enjoyment.

All Im saying is we need to show more respect towards each others opinions towards music. Instead of saying something sucks or its garbage, just say you don't like it. If you wouldn't want anybody trashing your fav genre then why would you do it to someone else?

Think about it for a minute. ;)

This is exactly what I mean. I personally LOVE Alternative music, in particular They Might Be Giants, Plumbline, and The Beautiful South. But other people could hate it. But that's just there opinion.

Yeah that's why they aren't used so much anymore except Lady Gaga and sex and a few others.

The Dresden Dolls are a Dark Cabaret band though with a Victorian and 20's imagery, and they use a lot of sex in their lyrics btw.

I guess it's a way of how you use it...

I think the end of the world, let's hug trees and the entire world is dark, evil and on the verge of destruction are much more overused and overrated though...or maybe it's just me.:?

Find me a Black/Death Metal song that doesn't have a meaning.

Waitaminute.

I thought about it.

You're trolling, rite?

I mean, either you had the title to get attention for your stupid topic, OR you had the title to be a hypocrite AND get attention for your stupid topic.

Just sayin'.

You don't get it. Im trying to make a point that an opinion is just fine but show respect. I see this too much and it really bothers me too see such comments. Im not a hypocrite so I dont why you would say that. Also, this isn't a stupid topic. As I said: Im trying to discuss the importance of an opinion while still respecting the music.

Yeah, but other genres of music also involve, say, OTHER THINGS It's a whole lot easier to find a rock song about something OTHER than sex, drugs, women, and money than it is to find a rap song that doesn't deal with them. I get that rappers write songs about those topics because rap music is more about image than actual talent, but you'll probably notice that the rappers who write songs that *don't* deal with those are the ones who get respect from a larger group of people. I mean, I hate rap, but I'll listen to Eminem's Stan any day. It's a deep song in a shallow genre. That's what sets apart the talented rappers from the idiots that over power the entire genre
