"Male." Bridger said solemnly. "When he was just a little Eevee, i thought he was a girl. Eventually I saw a behavioral change in him and found out that he was actually a boy." Bridger saw the red in Krystal's face, but wasn't sure as to why she was blushing. "Well then, what shall we do now? Small talk gets us nowhere."

Krystal stared at the young teen with an incredulous expression. How do you mistake a male for a female? she wondered. She opened her mouth to comment, but changed her mind quickly. She didn't feel up to having that conversation. Although, if the Espeon was male, it could explain Arctic's warmth towards it and general enthusiasm. The shiny Glaceon was always cuddly and sweet, but had rarely been introduced to males of a similar specie. The playful pawing they had engaged in shortly after meeting added another dimension to the scene, but Krystal wasn't going to dwell on that right now.

"Small talk helps us get acquainted," Krystal corrected. "In any case, I'll probably go with you for a while." It might do Arctic good to interact with the other trainer's Pokemon, and if John went too, it could be interesting.

Smiling joyously, Bridger commented. "I'm glad to hear that." Bridger looked down at the felines, who seem to have gotten closer by the minute. The recent pawing and playful attitude had changed when Krystal responded. Their faces brightened up, and the playing evolved to a strange form of what Bridger thought was affection. The two had begun to use their tails, keeping the other intrigued. Bridger payed little attention. "So, John, what do you think about all of this?" Bridger asked questioningly.

John watched the two pokemon playing together. Going with them would probably slow him up, but on the other hand human company would make a nice change, and it would be interesting to see how those two pokémon got along

"I think," he said, still watching the pokémon, "I might go with you, at least for a while."

Kris sighed. He was staring at the sky while the others were engaging in small talk. He heard everything and commented on nothing. When Krystal had asked him the spelling of his name he just said, "It's a K." He noticed that alot of people spelt it Chris. He didn't like that. "Well, I think I'd rather decline but for now I'll accept. I dunno where I'm heading either. As long as it doesn't take me back to eterna." He answered to Bridger's question. He sighed again as he waited for reactions.

Krystal smiled subtly to herself. So the four of them would be traveling together for a while? That could prove to be interesting. She'd get the chance to know them, their Pokemon, and their strategies, improving her own skill and training techniques. In response to Bridger's indecision, she chuckled. "Well, depends. We can head towards Veilstone or towards Pastoria." She looked around at them before adding, "Let's put it to a vote."

"Well, I vote Veilstone." Kris said instantly. "Farthest from Eterna." He explained. He then sighed and leaned back. "And since nothing else to do I'll introduce my pokemon." He threw four pokeballs into the air as he said this. "Lucario, Abbie, Charizard, Garchomp." He listed. "Gar." Garchomp landed and sliced with it's 'Wings'. "Char." The black charizard grunted. "Ab, abbie." The Absol said, walking up to Kris and leaning against his leg. The lucario just stood there, with it's arms crossed.

Krystal gave Kris an odd look. What was with his aversion to Eterna City? In any case, she had no problem with selecting Veilstone as a destination. "Veilstone sounds good to me," she agreed. "Either of you two have an issue with Veilstone?" she asked the two remaining trainers. Her eyes widened at the sight of Kris' Pokemon, feeling a stab of annoyance. This trainer carried Pokemon known for their immense power and popularity. Her eyes fell upon the black Charizard. She always preferred that coloration to the regulars.

Intimidated by the appearance of Kris' Pokemon, Arctic cringed behind Bridger's Espeon, practically clinging to it. Krystal chuckled, walking over and rubbing the Glaceon's ears comfortingly.

"Well," John answered, "I was heading for Canalave, but it's not as though I'm in a hurry, and I suppose it's not really any further through Veilstone anyway. Sure, I guess I don't have any problems with that."

Kris had released his pokémon. He also used a Lucario, it seemed, and the rest of his team also consisted of high-power pokémon, including an alternate coloured Charizard. So that's his style. Not surprising. Glaceon seemed to be cowering from the mostly larger pokémon, which John supposed would be rather intimidating to a relatively small creature.

"So It's settled then. Veilstone it is. Return." Kris said, holding out three pokeballs. Lucario, charizard and Garchomp returned. "Abbie here likes to stay out of her Pokeball. She was only in it because I was flying on Charizard just a few moments ago." Kris sighed, this was going to be a long journey. "Well, we'd better get going now." And he put his pokeballs away and pulled his rucksack higher on his shoulder.

Once the larger Pokemon were back inside their Pokeballs, Arctic sighed in relief, an icy mist escaping her mouth. Krystal smiled down at the Glaceon and stood up, taking note of her present companions. Veilstone...that was to the north, if she recalled correctly. "Let me know if walking takes its toll on you, okay, Arctic?" she said to the Glaceon.

"Glay," Arctic agreed, her tail wagging. Krystal double checked to make sure she had her other Pokeballs and oriented herself so she was facing north, in the direction she knew was towards Veilstone. They would likely pass the lake on the way there and could take some time to stop if the others wanted to, but she didn't. With a small gesture towards the others, she started walking, Arctic quickly bounding alongside her as not to get left behind.

Kris started walking just after Krystal. "Well, you two coming." Kris sighed as he looked at the other two. If they were this hard on the get-go then this was going to be an annoying trip. Atleast the girl didn't like to stay behind and wait for everyone else to go. He sighed again and signalled for Absol to come along. "Abbie." It said, walking proudly to Kris' side.

As the others set off, John sighed and went after them, checking all of his pokéballs were in place and had the pokémon inside of them. He was a fast walker, and almost immediately was walking alongside Krystal.

She seems to be somewhat active, at least, as does that Kris guy. At least I won't end up at a snail's pace this time.

"So," he said, turning to the girl alongside him, "why did you come into this place?"

Krystal glanced sideways at John when he appeared at her side. Arctic looked up at the male trainer curiously, sticking close to her trainer's ankle. Krystal considered the question seriously, assuming it was referring to the virtual world itself, rather than their present location. "I like Pokemon. Isn't that pretty much why everyone comes here?" she asked, chuckling. "It's a great place, living a life alongside Pokemon, rather than them existing solely within a game where you can never truly access them."

"Ceon!" Arctic chirped, rubbing against Krystal's leg.

"I suppose you're right," John replied, "it certainly seems more satisfying being in a place where you can interact with the creatures themselves, rather than just with a screen. It's probably healthier than a video game anyway, or at least it feels like it," he added, pulling his rucksack up. "I have to disagree on one point though. Not everyone comes here for the pokémon - I didn't, at least. I like pokémon, don't get me wrong, but it was the chance to experience a virtual reality that I came for. The nature of that reality was something of a bonus for me, rather than the primary reason."

"Make sense," Krystal said, nodding. Looking at the others, her lack of a travel bag seemed much more conspicuous than she originally thought, but it didn't matter. She carried her Pokeballs on her person and the only supplies she carried were for emergencies. She had plenty of money in an online account, and rarely ventured so far from cities where accessing food would be an issue. Well, except when she and Arctic went to Snowpoint, but that was a long time ago. Come to think of it, Krystal couldn't remember how long she had been here. Time went by leisurely and the prospect of training and interacting with Pokemon kept her focus far from the fact that the entire reality was virtual and simulated. A new question had begun to surface: would she ever want to leave?

Kris sighed again. The boy, john, was talking with the girl Krystal ahead of him. Brigder seemed to walk casually behind them, an annoying factor. Kris seemed to be in the middle, as always. He just sighed and walked ahead, ignoring the sort of mewing of his Absol, Abbie.

Meanwhile Abbie had noticed movement in the bushes next to them and was beggining to get worried about it. She then heard a grunt. "Ab, abbie!" It cried frantically at her trainer. He ignored her. So she ran over towards the bushes and aimed a razor wind at it. A wolf jumped out. "Mightyana!" It shouted, and two more jumped out. Then two more. Soon the group was surrounded by a ton of mightyana. "Oh great. You could've warned us Abbie." Kris groaned.
