"That seems fair," John replied, "so I'll just get on with it."

He brought the pokeball up to release size, and gave a small smile.

"Launch Mode," he called as he threw the ball up and towards the bat-like pokémon, "Water Pulse."

The ball sprang open in flight, revealing a medium sized blue platypus-like creature. The thing seemed to jump out of the pokéball, almost as if it had known it was about to be released in midair. "Golduck," it grumbled.

As soon as it emerged, the pokeball changed direction, heading straight back to John's hand.

Meanwhile the Golduck had glanced around, assessing the situation. Quickly deducing that his opponent was the Golbat, he responded to his trainer's command by firing a short burst of water from it's mouth.

Golbat's eyes followed the approaching Pokeball and tensed in midair at the appearance of the Golduck. The Water Pulse came towards the bat, which didn't move, instead letting the water fire into its mouth...and swallowed it, like one would drink from a water fountain. Krystal couldn't resist a giggle. Golbat was a bloodsucker, capable of drinking a massive amount of blood from its victims without tiring. A few medium-pressure jets of water, while not as desirable to the bat as its usual drink, were far from unwelcome.

"Golbat, try your Confuse Ray!" Krystal suggested, kneeling to stroke Arctic's fur. The Golbat didn't need telling twice and its eyes took on the ominous red glow.

John watched as Golbat drank the attack.

"Not bad," he muttered, "not bad at all."

Golduck had reached the peak of it's accent and was beginning to drop back to the ground as Golbat began to use it's confuse ray.

Not this time "Golduck, use your confusion to jam it."

Golbat closed it's eyes, and a faint purple shimmer appeared around it.

That'll hold off confuse ray, at least for now, but it'll put them on guard.

"Golbat, use your sonar to detect it and then use your Leech Life!" Krystal called to the distracted Golbat. The blue bat screeched loudly, slashing its wings to rid itself of the glow around its body. With an intimidating screech, the Golbat dove forward, fangs bared to strike the descending water type. Krystal had to admire John's Pokemon so far. They seemed to be well-trained and he had created special strategies for them, much like she had.

"Golduck, chill. Oh, and Headbutt."

Golduck glanced upwards at the Golbat, and as it did so it's body seemed to lose tension. It didn't, however, make any move to attack until the flying pokémon was almost on top of it, at which point it seemed to push off thin air and slam it's forhead right into Golbat's mouth just as the Bat-like creature's fangs struck.

Golbat recoiled with a pained shriek, its fangs only scratching the Golduck's body, not even piercing the flesh. It hovered in mid-air, dazed. "Shake it off, Golbat," Krystal urged. Golbat shook itself, its eyes slowly starting to focus once more. "Use your Aerial Ace!" the young woman commanded. Golbat's wings took on a white outline and it darted forward, weaving left and right around the Golduck before lunging at its chest.

Golduck dropped onto the ground as Golbat retreated. Although it was stunned for the moment, it was now out of range, and would have recovered before Golduck could have closed in.

Suddenly Golbat shot forward, weaving about as it moved in for it's own strike.

"Steady..." John called, although Golduck already knew what John was planning, and was bracing itself to take the hit.

Golbat slammed into Golduck's chest, pushing it backwards.

"Now!"

Golduck didn't need the attack naming; he'd known which move to use for some time, and had been waiting for his moment. Golduck's claw, now encased in ice, arced towards the Golbat which was still pressing into the water-type's front.

Golbat shrieked when the claw hit, the sudden chill from the ice causing the wing to spasm. With its body suddenly unbalanced, Golbat's flight path veered sharply to the side. Its wing bumped the ground, sending the bat tumbling across the ground, accumulating several scrapes in the process. Krystal winced, but remained determined. "Golbat, take revenge with Giga Drain!" she commanded. The blue bat flapped its wings, rising into the air once more. Its eyes fixed upon the aquatic foe and his mouth opened wide, inhaling. Tiny green orbs of energy escaped the bodies of all creatures caught within the range of the Giga Drain, Krystal hastily getting out of range.

Giga Drain? This could be difficult

Golduck seemed to be in pain as the energy orbs emerged from his body. His back arched as a particularly large orb erupted from his scratched chest. He collapsed onto all fours and began to pant.

"Golduck, you OK?"

Golduck responded by clambering to his feet and staring defiantly at the Golbat. "Golduck..." it growled.

"Confusion, maximum spread," John called out. Golduck once again generated a purple glow, which then seemed to dissipate as the psychic energy rushed out in all directions.

Bridger's head hurt. So did Espeon's. All of the psychic-type attacks being thrown back and forth caused pain in the twosomes heads. Espeon was not trained to resist psychic attacks, but trained to execute them instead. Bridger assumed it was best to return Espeon to her ball. He palmed the small orb and a red beam escaped the front sucking Espeon in like a vacuum. Bridger continued to watch.

Golbat swallowed the absorbed energy, leering at the Golduck, even as psychic energy radiated from the duck-like creature's body. Without waiting for an instruction, Golbat flew backwards, away from the expanding psychic. Unfortunately for the bat, it failed to take into account that they were in a forested area and that flying backwards prevented sonar from being of any real use. Krystal began to shout a warning, but only managed a shout before Golbat slammed into a tree with a loud crunching sound. Krystal winced as the blue bat slid slowly down the trunk of the tree and collapsed in a heap.

"Ouch," she muttered unnecessarily, taking out her Pokeball and drawing the Golbat back inside. "You're pretty good, John," she praised, walking forward with a congratulatory hand extended. "Looks like I need a bit more practice, but hey, it was fun."

Bridger assumed now would be the best time to introduce himself. Either that or hide again. He took the initiative. Bridger slowly strode towards the female. With a nervous tone Bridger spoke. "Hey there. That was some battle you two just put on. You even had my head tingly for a while. My names Bridger. Mind i ask who you two are?"

Zach looked at the beautiful site of Lake Valor. It was beyond his words. It was especially cool that tons of pokemon were in the background. "Cooool...." Zach said speechless. He followed Daniel's lead and threw his pokeballs in the air.

The 3 beams shot out a Scyther, a Gligar, and a Lickitung. His Porygon was already enjoying the site with it's blankless expression. Zach could tell it was happy though. Gligar started gliding above the lake as Porygon followed. Lickitung was eating berries in a bush. Scyther was just enjoying the peace.

"Golduck, take five," John called, recalling the exhausted pokémon, who was once again slumped over, breathing hard.

John took the offered hand. "You're pretty good, Krystal. Your pokémon were strong, considering they aren't the most powerful species, but maybe next time we'll battle somewhere without trees, eh?"

The boy who had been watching the battle then approached them, and introduced himself as Bridger. He also mentioned something about his head hurting. "Ah, sorry about that," John replied, "Golduck's supposed to have tuned his attack to only affect pokémon. He must be slipping - looks like I need practice as well. The name's John, by the way," he added, offering a hand.

Jake took out a pokeball and realeased the pokemon inside. His Blastoise stretched his amrs and checked his cannons.

"Hey Blastoise, I'm sorry I haven't let you out in a while." Jake said with a weak smile, "But we've been walking through thick forest. You'd of got stuck."

The Blastoise looked at him consideringly then gave a nod, "Blast. Blastoise." The shellfish pokemon noticed the large lake and seemed to turn into a child, "BLAST! Stoise? Blastoise?" He asked his owner.

"Sure jump in. You deserve it." The large evolution pulled in its cannons and jumped into the water, creating an extremley large splash. Sighing Jake removed his other pokeballs and released the pokemon inside. Bellossom an Totodile jumped out, but he kept Politoed inside.

"I'm sorry, but you've been casing too much trouble lately," The tranier told the pokeball, "Sorry."

The two small pokemon looked up at Jake, he noticed their stares. "Go on. You can go play." Bellossom ran off into a small area filled with flowers, but Totodile looked concerned. Jake gave a small chuckle, "Don't worry. Blastoise is already in the water."

"TOTO!" The small crocodile shouted, before doing a jump and landing in the water. As his pokemon went off to have fun, Jake sat down by a tree and started to doze off.

"That's how I like to do things," Krystal said, in response to the observation of her using less powerful Pokemon. She turned towards Bridger. "Hey Bridger, I'm Krystal," she said, grinning a little and offering her hand after John.

"Glay!" Arctic complained from Krystal's knee. Krystal laughed quietly.

"And this is Arctic, my Glaceon," she added, rubbing the ice fox's ears again. The intensified sunlight from the Sunny Day had worn off, and the Glaceon's white, frosty fur was dazzling when one could look upon it without shielding their eyes. "I saw an Espeon earlier, was that yours?" she asked Bridger.

Kris sighed as the battle before him was over. When the other trainers had gone he thought it best not to follow them. It would have been suspicious. Instead he had turned towards the other battle taking place. It was impressive, but not as good as the other one had seemed. After all, the other one had burned about 300 square foot of forest. He sighed as another trainer walked up to the battlers. I better introduce myself aswell. He thought as he walked towards the battle site. "Hi, I'm Kris." He said to the three trainers already there.

"Nice to meet the lot of you then. I realize this sudden, but would any of you be interested in traveling with me? I don't have many friends around these parts and you all seem very nice already." Bridger looked down at the Glaceon near Krystal's feet. He stroked it's back, and felt a chilled tingle go down his back. "Woah. Arctic indeed."

Arctic made a happy sound, much like a purr, clearly enjoying the attention from Bridger. Krystal thought about the invitation, but decided to mull it over a bit longer before answering. Committing herself to a group wouldn't be the worst idea, but it depended on their goals and destinations. She felt a small surge of relief when another person walked over, but found herself unable to keep a straight face when he identified himself as "Kris".

"Hello, Kris," she said, stifling a giggle. "I'm Krystal." She paused and spelled it for him. "Out of curiosity, is your name spelled with a 'K' or a 'C'?" She extended a hand towards the trainer to shake.

Bridger payed little attention to the other one, who had just shown up. He was expecting an answer from either Krystal or John at any given moment. He went on petting Glaceon, eventually releasing Espeon so that the two felines might be able to play together. Glaceon, like Espeon, was no stranger to wandering away from her trainer. The two started pawing at each other in a playful way. "Looks like Artic has taken a liking to Espeon already." Bridger said confidently.

Yet another person seemed to have joined them. He introduced himself as Kris, which amused Krystal, for rather obvious reasons. John noted that this new person seemed to be about his age, and about his size as well, although he did look rather rough. His timing also seemed to be rather bad, since Bridger had apparently just invited them along with him. Still, give someone the opening and they're more than likely to be friendly, although in this case this isn't the opening. Of course there was still Bridger's invitation.

"Perhaps I'll come with you, if we're going the same way, but I'm not going much further today now anyway, so I'll think it over."

I think I'll have to. If he can invite people with him after such a short conversation, then he's probably a bit too trusting for his own good, but I'll see what the others do.

Bridger realized how blatant and unexpected his invitation to everyone was. He felt awkward. "Well i can see why you might want to keep close to town for the day, with that last battle and all. I guess i shouldn't barge in and invite myself, so would you care if i tagged along?" Bridger figured one of these 3 would travel with him. Looking at the relationship the felines had already made, and how John seemed to have a positive response to everything. He hadn't heard much from Kris, but they all seemed so nice. Hoping for a positive response, Bridger waited.

Krystal glanced towards Arctic and Bridger's Espeon, nodding to herself. It was just like Arctic to warm up to another Pokemon after a short time, especially considering how lonely the Glaceon had been recently. The exceptions seemed to be Golbat and Aria, but neither of them were particularly cuddly, so Krystal didn't find that too odd.

"Well, Bridger," Krystal said slowly. "Where are you planning on going? That's a large factor in whether I'd linger," she explained.

OOC: Alright, you made this hard. Where are we at in the first place? If you don't no, i'll assume we are in Sinnoh. If you disagree, i'll edit this post.

Bridger had taken this response in a good way. He thought quickly, with a smirk on his face, as to how he would respond to the question. "Well i suppose i would like to head towards Oreburgh City, but really i intend to go wherever the roads lead me. Where were you aimed to head for?"

((We are in Sinnoh, probably not too far from Lake Valor, judging by posts by others, putting us somewhere roughly between Pastoria and Veilstone))

Krystal smiled. "I really don't have much of a destination, truthfully. I just like to travel with my Pokemon and try to show the world that every Pokemon has potential, no matter-" she stopped abruptly, her face glowing crimson. Arctic, sensing her trainer's embarrassment, rubbed against Krystal's leg before returning her attention to the Espeon. The Glaceon's white tail flicked with more enthusiasm than normal while she was becoming acquainted with the feline. "Is your Espeon male or female?" she asked curiously, trying to change the direction of the conversation until she got her composure back.
