Viraemia (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation)

HORUS

So I found this band called Viraemia while I was looking at Necrophagist's myspace. They are a technical death metal band from Arizona, their music has a theme that centers around viruses and pathology, and their bassist plays a 10 string bass.

Listen to Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, and piss yourself.

These guys are alright. They reminded me a lot of Origin when I first listened to them, which was a good thing because I love Origin. Their high screams aren't great, but the lows and the overall talent of the rest of the band makes up for that. My only real complaint about these guys is that they're TOO technical. Don't get me wrong, I love tech-death as much as the next guy, but it gets to a point where it's more like "hey! look what I can do with my instrument!" rather than being a good song. This band has a shitload of talent, but they don't do much with it. The majority of their music is just sweeps and whatnot played at blazing speeds. There's not a whole lot to it.

Well, I guess I just like bands that play ridiculous sweeps at blazing speeds.

I'm guessing you don't love Brain Drill very much either?

Eh. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Brain Drill is another band that I find mediocre. You gotta love Lord Marco on drums though!

Lord Marco is simply the best technical death metal drummer ever.

Definitely. There aren't too many that rival him.

So then what tech. death metal bands do you like?

Not many. Necrophagist, Cryptopsy (yes, they're considered brutal/tech death), Odious Mortem just to name a few. Beneath the Massacre had one good release.
