Yu-Gi-Oh! Revelation of the Zodiac [PG-16/Started/Accepting by PM]

Zeth's eyes widened and he scowled. "This is not what I wanted to use this trap on!" he grumbled and clicked the button of his Duel Disk. The card he had set a few turns earlier flipped upwards, displaying the image of a fissure with a fireball beneath the earth. "Trap of Darkness can be activated whenever my Lifepoints are 3000 or less, and costs me 1000 of them."

LP: 650

"I then remove one Normal Trap from my graveyard and treat Trap of Darkness' effect as that card. I remove my Dust Tornado and target your Speed Spell."

The earth beneath the Duelists cracked and a fireball emerged from the earth. The image of the Dust Tornado card appeared and the fireball fizzled out, transforming into a tornado that crept towards Promethea's continuous spell card.

Promethea was intrigued at Zeth's response.

"Now what? Are you going to activate your Trap Card? My monsters are about to attack both of you. Will you save yourself, or Sayla?"

((Real damage, the anime effect thing is kind of obvious since it's anime only))

"I Activate my face-down Speed Spell - Soul Destruction." Sayla said "When a DARK Attribute Synchro Monster on my side of the field is selected as an attack target, I can Remove from Play one Level Four or lower Tuner Monster in my Graveyard to have my monster gain Attack equal to the selected Tuner's Attack or Defense. Now, I Remove Naturia Stinkbug and have Blood Mephist gain 500 Attack." She stated calmly as Blood Mephist destroyed her Jurak "Now end your turn, b****"

A large dust cloud stirred as the fight between Blood Mephist and Jurak Tyranus raged.

"I'm sorry, but my Tyranus has 3700 ATK!"

The dust cleared, showing Tyranus standing triumphantly with blood runing from its mouth as its flame became longer. (3700 ATK -> 4000 ATK) (Sayla: 1350 LP)

"Now, Zeth, do you do anything about my attack on you?"

((Not sure if there was confusion between you and Dresdon regarding which monsters attacked what in which order. My move doesn't change, due to a "use or lose" deal. This is especially confusing when the original attack order would result in Promethea losing without atacking Sayla))

Zeth sighed. His strategy had fallen apart by being forced to use his Trap of Darkness on something other than Froggy Forcefield or...his other card waiting to be sprung. Hesitating no longer, he tapped the button on his Disk.

"I activate Dimension Wall!" he said, the trap flipping up and showing an image of a Warrior Dai Grepher attacking a DD Warrior Lady, but a dimensional rift transporting the strike behind the warrior. "All the damage I take from this battle is dealt to you instead," he said in a deadpan tone. Unifrog croaked weakly before it shattered into pixels, but a dimensional rift intercepted the damaging flames before they could hit Zeth, distributing them upon Promethea instead.

Promethea was sturck with her own monster's attack, causing her Duel Runner to smoke as it stopped. (Promethea: 0 LP)

She then started her Duel Runner back up and rode alongside Zeth.

"Good game, Zeth. But I actually confess, I think I could've won in one-on-one. How about a rematch on the ground later? I was never really good at Turbo Duels anyways."

"By the way, do you mind if I just ride alongside you and watch the rest of the duel?"

((Okay, sounds like a good solution then.))

Zeth smiled at Promethea. "Probably," he admitted. "And sure, I'll probably take you up on that later," he agreed. He looked back at Sayla, where the Blood Mephist hovered along with her, a wicked grin on its face. He checked his computer monitor and took note of the remaining facedown card on Sayla's field. He looked back at Promethea with a small, confident grin. "Sure, watch if you want. Shouldn't be much longer," he said. Of course, with only one card in his hand, less than 700 LP, and nothing on his field, the lack of time left was at his expense, especially since Sayla still had Blood Mephist and 1700 LP.

"All right, my turn!" he said, drawing his card. The ground glowed and a small yellow frog with a halo and pair of wings appeared. "Since I have no spells or traps on my field, Treeborn Frog comes back in defense mode!" (DEF: 100)

Zeth's gaze flicked to the card he drew and he simply nodded. He knew Blood Mephist would be able to hit him for 300 damage per card he controlled and he also knew setting a spell or trap would hit him for 300 damage. "I place one monster in defense mode and end my turn," he said, slapping a card onto the field. "That's all from me."

"My turn. I draw and activate Blood Mephist's ability, causing you to lose 300 Life Points for every card on your side of the field." Sayla said in her scarily calm and emotionless voice "Now, I Summon Naturia Mantis." A cartoon mantis appeared next to Blood Mephist, visibly scared by the ghost and looking very much out of place. "Now, Blood Mephist and Naturia Mantis attack your Monsters." She said as the Insect attacked Treeborn Frog, while Mephist sent a burst of dark magic at the face-down. "I end my turn. You shall lose this duel, Zeth. And, as penance for trying to take advantage of me, I will kill you."

Zeth gasped as Blood Mephist launched an energy orb that struck his Runner and caused it to wobble, yet he maintained control of it, scowling at the other Dark Signer, his eye twitching from the jabs of pain he experienced.

LP: 50

He watched passively as Treeborn Frog shattered, followed by his Flip Flop Frog, which croaked weakly before shattering as well. Since it had been destroyed, it didn't count for its own effect. Zeth scowled, but knew it didn't matter. He ignored Sayla's threat and instead tried to remain focused.

"My turn!" he announced, drawing his card.

SPC: 11

His gaze flicked to it, but his expression didn't change. He plucked the card resting from his hand and slid it into his Spell and Trap Card Zone. "I choose not to summon out my Treeborn, in favor of activating Speed Spell- The End of Storm!" he snapped. The card's image appeared on the monitor and a powerful gale surrounded both players. "Since I have 10 or more Speed Counters, I can destroy all monsters on the field. And the player controlling those monsters takes 300 points of damage per monster!"

"So what?" Sayla asked "I still have 1100 Life Points and one face-down card left. If you Summon a monster with less than 1100 ATK points, I'll still be in the game. If you Summon a Monster with more than 1100 ATK points, you'll trigger my Trap Hole and you'll lose the game next turn. And then, of course, I'll kill you." She added with a hint of malice "I think I'll enjoy that part the most."

Zeth raised an eyebrow. "You're telling me what your trap is? Then if you're telling the truth, I win," he said, turning the card in his hand around, revealing Junk Synchron. "Its 1300 attack will cause it to fall prey to your trap, but I'll still get its effect to summon Substitoad from my graveyard and although the effect of the summoned monster is negated, I can still activate it and tribute itself for the cost, causing the effect to resolve in the grave, bypassing the restriction, and summoning my 1900 Des Frog."

As he spoke, he placed the tuner on the field, summoning the robotic warrior, which promptly threw out an arm and brought the bi-colored frog back from the graveyard. Zeth cocked an eyebrow towards Sayla, his Substitoad glowing and disappearing, summoning a larger green frog. (ATK: 1900) "Attack her directly."

"Trap Card, open. Mirror Force." Sayla said darkly as a wave of blue-white energy surrounded her "That was very, very boring" She said with a yawn "Now your pathetic ugly frog and your fat little robot are going to die, and it's all your fault. Serves you right for killing my trees." She said, somehow managing a scowl behind her formless mask. "Now surrender and die, or end your turn and die, or just plain die. I really don't care."

Zeth frowned. He should have expected that Sayla wasn't serious about her trap, especially when she didn't trigger it when he summoned Junk Synchron. However, neither of them had any cards in their hand or field, so they were now in a topdeck war where either player could win at any moment. She can claimed she'd win next turn, but he knew she actually couldn't guarantee that at all. And seeing as all options ended with "and die", he figured he may as well just take his chances that she'd get a dead draw or a trap.

"I end my turn," he said with a shrug. He was tempted to point out that he actually hadn't done anything to her this duel, excluding the damage from his Speed Spell, but there was no benefit to reminding Sayla that Promethea had been the one who destroyed her trees.

Promethea replied to Marcos.

"Oh, don't worry. I will make sure that Zeth is kept safe. After all, I don't want to replace my second-in-command first day on the job."

And now the actual RP:

Meanwhile, high up in one of the many apartment blocks of the city, a young woman was stood on her balcony, looking out over the city below. The battle between those two creatures - the red dragon and the dark dripping - well, thing - was apparently over, and now the city would eventually get back to something like how it was.

But what were they? That seemed to be the question everyone was asking. As she'd been down to the shop at the base of the block that morning several people seemed desperate to discuss it with her. She'd simply pretended that she didn't want to even think about it, and somehow they'd all bought it and didn't press her.

Of course she was thinking about it, but she realised she had no answers. Perhaps, she reasoned, she should go and do some more research. What she'd looked at already didn't give her much. The dragon was apparently the one symbolised in the markes which had until recently - as the shopkeeper had been almost excited to tell her - been engraved in the roads around the city. There was nothing on the other thing, aside from a description in a very old autobiography of some security director and a character in a video game, which was probably unrelated.

She pulled a small black leather case from her belt and flipped open the flap on the front, pulling out the first of a number of trading cards contained within. The card had a white border, and the image showed the white silhouette of a swan, flying across a black background. The swan almost seemed ghost-like, mostly because even the beak was in white.

"Cygnus," the girl muttered, "perhaps you know what's going on. Of course you don't, you're a card. Oh well," she sighed, as she heard the bleep of the videophone. As she turned back into the flat, she pushed the card back into the case, before dropping the case onto the low coffee table as she passed.

OOC: I'm still not entirely sure what she's supposed to be doing at this point, so I went with some foreshadow-y stuff and giving her perspective on the "plot" section of the first post.

"You'd best be ready then, because this is going to be the end. That last card will determine how the game goes. And it might not end well for Zeth. Incidentally, I wonder how my snakes would fare against that one?" he wondered to himself as we watched the final proceedings. There was only the last card to be drawn, and then the Signer hunt could really begin.

((Honestly, is it Damian's turn?))

Promethea watched the duel, until she felt something else.

A Dark Synchro Summon.

Victor! What the hell is that idiot doing?!? I said FIND the Signers, not fight them!!!

((The following post. takes place before Damian's turn))

"Actually, I think I'll take this one, if Wingman doesn't mind." Kenshin said "Trap Card, open! Scrap-Iron Trap Hole!" He said, triggering the appropriate Trap Zone, causing a giant hole to appear below Catastrogue "Whenever a Monster is Special Summoned, Scrap-Iron Trap Hole gets activated, allowing me to return that Monster to the controller's hand. Now, I reset Scrap-Iron Trap Hole, Wingman, finish up." The Signer said, smiling cockily at Victor "Whoever or whatever you are, you're kinda pathetic."

"Now I attack you directly with Rooklord! Rook Charge!" Damian declared.

Rooklord rushed towards Victor, and smashed into the Dark Signer, damaging his Duel Runner.

"Kewl! This Duel's special effects are awesome!"

Zeth waited impatiently for what could be the deciding move of the duel, his Runner still racing down the path set by the autopilot. He looked back at Sayla. "For one so confident of victory, you're taking your time for the killing stroke," he said, smirking. "I only have 50 Lifepoints and neither of us have any cards. It's your move, so go on already!"

The Spider Mark glowed and he frowned, this time feeling strangely sure of what it sensed this time. One of the Dark Signers not by the duel had initiated a Shadow Duel. And considering there were four Dark Signers at the current scene...he looked skyward, taking note of a strangely shaped cloud or glow. That was probably where the game was taking place. That wasn't part of the plan Promethea had set down! He glanced sideways at Promethea, but didn't say anything. Sayla going crazy and wanting to kill her teammates wasn't part of the plans either, but here they were.

Victor saw as his lifepoints decreased to 5200 and toke up a large scowl. "Fine, if you wanna play like that then I'll have to whip up something myself, with my Trap Card, Dark Tuning Reborn in my graveyard I may Special Summon my Dark Tuner Catasrogue in defense position!" Suddenly a card flashed a large amount of darkness emerged out of Victor's graveyard and out emerged a odd-looking creature with a dark aura surrounding it, putting out one hand to invite the opponent.

Dark Tuning Reborn

Normal Trap Card

When this card is destroyed while facedown on the field or discarded from your hand, you may remove it from play at any time to Special Summon a "Dark Tuner" Monster from your hand or deck.

"Finish up squirt" Victor said smiling.

OOC: Thanks for clearing this up Y-tak. This was what I thought happened.

Damian cringed at the odd critter.

"Whoa. What is that? Never seen that card before."

He then shook his head and focused.

"Forgetting the creepy monster, I'll just end by revealing Bergzak."

"I Draw." Sayla said, though technically her little white helper did all the work "And now I..." She looked at the card in her hand and sighed loudly "Set one card face-down and end my turn..." She said, her white helper setting a Spell or Trap in the appropriate Zone "You got lucky... As soon as I draw a Monster you're dead."

Zeth nodded. "I'm aware of that. My turn!" he announced, drawing his card. The field in front of his Runner glowed and the angelic frog reappeared on his field. (DEF: 100) "Treeborn Frog returns to my field, as I have no spells or traps on my field." He chanced a look at the card he drew, then glanced at her facedown card.

"I also place a card facedown to end my turn," he sighed. "Turn End."
