I've decided to write another article on naming cards.

Finding Creative Names

A very important factor when making cards is your creativity(which is why I always stress on the image). But just as important as the image is the card name.

Card names should always:

Agree with the image

Be a reasonable length (I woud say 5 words at most)

Agree with effect

Card names should also be creative. Which sounds better?

The Red King

Draco, Crimson King

I'm am certain you would pick the second option. Monster names are generally more interesting when they give the monster a first name such as Draco as above. Also, the more descriptive the better, which is why crimson works better than red.

When in doubt on a name, go for another language. Latin and Japanese words work extremely well when naming cards.

This should be obvious, but make the image agree with the card name. Also, card name can agree with effect. For instance: My "Elemental Hero Spotlight" had an effect which disallowed your opponent from setting monsters, See? The Spotlight lets him "see" the monsters who are "hiding" face-down.

Websites to help you...

www.behindthename.com

www.freedict.com

Also, don't be afraid to use a dictionary when looking for creative card names. A thesauras will help you find synonyms for common words.

Remember, be descriptive, creative, and welll...have common sense when naming your cards!

These tutorials will really help me. I've already used Spanish a few times when naming cards, and you can't beat an online thesaurus. Though I never thought of Japanese or Latin (well actually, I have used Latin, but only once).

God Kaze, could you please rate my "Time-Space Distortion" set? Link in sig.

Derek_Whaley - Article #1.

- Biography On My Card Making Career -

This summer of 2007 I took a trip to Africa. It was very exciting but, God knows I can't live without a computer. I had already gotten over Yugioh & was interested in other things. Africa just started airing Yugioh & I was slightly starting to like it again. While I was on the computer looking up Yugioh cards, I was on Google & I saw a Fake Card. In my mind I was like OMG!!. Instantly I started thinking about how cool it would be to make cards so I searched "Yugioh Fake Card Generator" & eventually I found YCM.

When I first started I made broken cards like Cyber-Vampire & Bahumat. Then I meet my first friend Deity Mitsu & he was a cool guy. He taught me how to balance out my cards & make creative effects. With his help & God Kaze's proof check, I made my 1st complete & balanced Set. Guardians Awakining. I was very proud. This is when I started to get addicted to YCM.

After this I started to enter contest, Make Friends & Become A Well Liked Member. Soon after Diety Mitsu started a contest & I beat GK, man my confidence was so high at this time. Later on Soul Immortal had left & I was asked to take control of the Card Makers Academy. It was a honor! When that closed I did many things to pass my time like make singles, enter contest, Then... I made the Pokedex Project & the RP. That's basically my career in a nutshell but, now I'm kinda in a rut & I don't feel confidence in my Card Making Ability I hope all the good feelings of Card Making come back to me.

Posted in both rahim and Kizzi's sets.

Derek, nice biography. Thanks for the mentions, lol. I'll be adding it to the main post in a moment.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

We, both Legendary and Junior members, will be making a card together to be the "LCM-ENSP" card. I'll get into the details later on how it will work. This is meant to show off our collective genius.
