[spoiler=Plot]Savasor Denouise was your average, thirteen-year-old duelist. Despite the fact that his father was a scientist, he wasn't rich, but he wasn't poor, either. His parents and brother sent him to a local Dueling School. Unlike the original Duel Academy, this boarding school was much more strict and didn't give much freedom. There were also many more of them across the world. He met three other students who were forced to go there, named Bwey Carter, Vendetta Kojiir, and Megyoru Basharo. They create their own dueling team, and challenge all people who hurt others with dueling, which might just include the teachers.

The castle doors creaked open, letting in the afternoon light, little by little, until the entrance hall was colored a mixture of red, yellow, pink, and gray. Savasor tiptoed in, careful not to wake the rare Dark Gray guarding the throne room.

“Megyoru? Vendetta? Princess Bwey? Is anyone here?” he asked quietly. The castle was completely deserted, aside from the Dark Gray. He slowly opened the door to the throne room just enough to get a quick peek, and saw nothing. Savasor was stunned by the lack of life in the castle. It was usually toiled in laughter an parties. But now, even the good King Fyord was nowhere to be found.

He took another close look at the Gray. There was no heave to its chest every two or three seconds, no occasional snoring, nothing. It was dead.

Savasor’s eyes widened at this sight. This cannot be happening, thought Savasor.

Then something bright caught his eye. It was on the throne. He carefully walked toward it and examined it. “A … card?” he wondered. He took the card in his hands and read what was at the top.

“Cyber Eltanin. The first machine of the world.”

[spoiler=Chapter 1: The School of Cards]

-~=){}(=~-

My name’s Savasor Denouise, but you can call me Sav. I got A’s and B’s in school. My dad’s a scientist. My mom? She’s just a mom … with the freaking best cooking in the world! My sister, Melana, I can’t say the same. She’s nineteen and engaged to a guy named Joseph Cortset, who can, luckily, cook. Then there’s my brother, an ordinary, super-awesome, sixteen-year-old brother, named Xavier. He dueled with me all the time. And he took me everywhere, the movies, skating rink, bowling alley, even the local duel hall.

But today, everywhere didn’t sound so great.

I was dressed normally. Black sneakers, faded jeans, and a shirt embroidered with the words “Cyber Eltanin,” the supposed first Machine-type Duel Monsters card ever created. I also had with me two changes of clothes, gloves, my deck, extra shoes, and a cap. I’m not sure why my parents made me pack them, they just said, “Don’t worry. You’ll love it there.” Where’s “there”?

My dark brown hair wasn’t brushed, so I had a little bed-head. You could see small red lines in the corners of my deep blue eyes because my parents made me wake up extra-early.

My brother was dressed differently than he usually was. Most of the time he wore his black jeans with about two-hundred holes in them, a T-shirt with the sleeves ripped off (even in the winter,) and his shaggy black hair dangling around his shoulders and in his cream-colored eyes.

But then he was sporting a whole new look of jet-black dress shoes, thin, churchy pants, a deep gray button-up shirt, and his hair was combed back perfectly.

A few miles east of the Domino City Limits it started to rain. Well, we rode into the rain, because it was more like two different dimensions. It rained heavily in one place, and on the Domino City side, directly beside the strong rain, it was completely dry. Even the clouds cut off right at that point. “Well, that was downright freaky,” I said once we went into the downpour.

“It’s just rain, kiddo. I know this must be weird, but it’ll end eventually. Tell you what, I’ll pull over the table. Want to duel?” said Xavier.

“You bet!” I answered.

He pulled up the table, and I readied my deck. He brought out his deck from a pouch on his belt and set it down. We shuffled each other’s decks and handed them back.

“Ready?” he said.

“Ready,” I said back.

“Duel!” we yelled simultaneously.

“I guess I’ll go first,” he said and drew a card to add to the five that were already in his hand. He set one card. “I summon Ally of Justice Blind Sucker! I end my turn.”

I drew a card. His deck was made to perfectly counter my LIGHT/Machine-Deck. Blind Sucker negated LIGHT monsters’ effects, so most of my deck was nullified. The Cyber Dragon in my hand couldn’t be Special Summoned now, so I said, “I summon Cyber Dragon Zwei, and equip it with Big Bang Shot! Attack, Zwei!”

“Activate, Negate attack. Your turn over, little bro?”

“…Yeah.”

He drew, but only after examining his hand. He kept his poker face on the whole time. “I know you know what’s coming next,” he said with a sly smile. I knew what was coming next. “Ally of Justice Cyclone Creator, you know what to do! I also activate Double Summon, and summon Ally of Justice Unlimiter.” He threw down the Tuner monster, Cyclone Creator, and Unlimiter onto his Monster Card Zone. I knew they weren’t staying very long, though.

“Go ahead,” I said, a grin appearing on my face. This really was fun, except for the fact that I was about to get smashed.

“Now, I’ll use all three of my Allies to Synchro Summon Ally of Justice Field Marshall!” His strongest card, so far.

“You can’t do better than that?” I teased.

“Huh? Wait, you mean the legendary Ally of Justice Decisive Arms? Dang, I wish I had that card.”

“Hmph. Well, go ahead. Attack.”

“Okay, then. I attack, Bright Slice!” Man, that’s a lot of damage! 1000 in one hit. I removed Zwei from play, due to the effect of Big Bang Shot.

“Hey, can you kids keep it down back there?” asked my dad irritably.

“Yes, father,” we both reluctantly answered.

“Thank you. Loudest children in the world.”

“Um, we could hear that,” I said. I laughed and imagined the look on his face.

Back to the duel. “You done?” I asked. He nodded. “’Kay, then, I’ll draw.” Yes! I thought. Proto-Cyber Dragon! “I thought I would use this against you, someday. The card you gave me.”

“Can’t wait.”

“Now, I Special Summon Cyber Dragon.” I was careful not to yell. “I’ll also throw down a Proto-Cyber Dragon, and play Polymerization. I’ll fuse my two Cyber Dragons to form Cyber Twin Dragon.”

“Ha-ha! Good move. Buy Twin’s still not strong enough.”

“At least, not until I play the spell Clockwork Night.” I had him. He didn’t have any face-downs, and Field Marshall’s effect couldn’t block my attacks. And a boost of 500 Attack points didn’t hurt. Marshall loses 500 Attack, also. “I attack Ally of Justice Field Marshall with Cyber Twin Dragon’s first hit. The second, I’ll give to you directly, and end this quick.” The first attack put Field Marshall in the Graveyard, and the second ended our duel.

“Ha-ha! Well, a duel’s a duel. Good game, kiddo,” said Xavier as he picked up his cards.

“You did--”

Screech! The car came to a sudden halt in front of a large green building. Building? More like an evil Medieval castle. Its highest point was a half-monkey, half-dragon gargoyle, that had to be at least twenty feet tall. Its base was guarded with about forty-five stone soldiers, each wielding a spear and shield. The midsection was just a huge cube, and the top was a pyramid leading up to the gargoyle.

Me and Xavier got out of the car. “Mom, Dad, aren’t you coming, too?” I asked, still confused from the second we left home.

“No. Your brother will enroll you,” My mother said. Enroll?

We slowly walked to the front door, but before we went in, I asked, “Xavier, wh-where are we?”

“Sav, welcome to the school of cards, the Duel Monsters Boarding School.”

-~=){}(=~-

[spoiler=Chapter 2: Enrollment PREVIEW]I drew. Cyber Dragon, Cyber Ouroboros, and Cyber Valley, my three front-liners, were all in my hand. Cyber Dragon: good for your second turn. Cyber Ouroboros: a nice face-down-farce. Cyber Valley: perfect for a trick offense, with its first ability, and next turn he’ll probably be removed from play, leaving Tiny over there with a monster, and me with none. Then Cyber Dragon can come out and play. I went with that.

“I summon Cyber Valley!” A small grin materialized on my face, because, unlike my brother, I’m not exactly “calm”. I can’t help but smile when I’ve got a good move. “And I’ll end my turn with that.”

“Very well then. I draw. Activate, Acid Rain,” said Lardo, solemnly. Dang test decks, made to counter anything. My big plan, down the drain. I moved Cyber Valley to the Graveyard. “Gene-Warped Warwolf, summoned.”
