It's time to discuss Dark Baltar the Terrible.

Decent skillset. Engineering isn't terribly good in most cases but someone needs to have it when you need Repairs. The weird draw is slow but good for passing skill checks, and makes Baltar less vulnerable to Sickbay. The one-shot inspection is excellent. The negative effect is awesome, since it makes you more likely to be a Cylon and everyone wants to be a Cylon because, come on, sabotaging stuff is fun. It interacts interestingly with his other abilities: nobody trusts his one-shot detection because he's more likely to be a Cylon, and being more suspicious makes him more likely to be sent to the Brig, where his ongoing special ability doesn't apply, leaving him with only four cards per turn.

Another guy with a similar name, Dark Balter the Terrible, is fun with Metamorphosis in formats designed intelligently enough to have the latter at 3. Unfortunately, Advanced Format is not one of those wonderful formats, so he's rather less than useful now.

GOD....if only Metamorphosis was at 3....

but anyway... Dark Balter is by all means one of the better Fusions Konami ever made, granted it would have been better if it was a level 6, and you discarded a card instead of paying 1000 LPs to negate a spell, but thats MO. an right now, this guy would cause all sorts of chaos, seeing how he'd negate a LOT of problem cards out there I.E.: Brain/Mind Control, Soul Relase *to those who run it* D-Draw, Lighting Vortex, Solar Recharge, Charge of the Light B., etc....the list goes on..

granted it would have been better if it was a level 6' date='[/quote']

Then it wouldn't be summonable by Instant Fusion.

and you discarded a card instead of paying 1000 LPs to negate a spell' date='[/quote']

Then it'd just be a crappier version of Heraklinos.

no, what i meant by it should have been level 6, IF ONLY Metamorphosis was at 3 *i just see more targets for it* granted you could still SS The Tricky, then use Metamorphosis to bring out Balter.

and yea, it would be a crappy version of Herk, but at least you wouldnt HAVE to run GBs in order to use Balter, and not only would it set up more plays, by it discarding, but it would be easier to maintain than lolLPGain.

According to the yugioh wikia, no cards with the text "A Fusion Summon of this monster can only be conducted with the above Fusion Material Monsters." can be summoned by Instant Fusion. I figure this is because Instant Fusion counts as a Fusion Summon, and a Fusion Summon with no materials is considered not to have the same material as Dark Balter or any of the other cards. Here's the wiki proof:

Because the Summon from "Instant Fusion" is a Fusion Summon' date=' Fusion Monsters with the text "A Fusion Summon of this monster can only be conducted with the above Fusion Material Monsters." cannot be Special Summoned with "Instant Fusion".[/quote']
