[Started] DT History 1 - Expedition from Mist Valley

Since I love the Duel Terminal archtypes as a whole, I thought we could have a little fun with writing and re-writing their background. This RP will be set in chapters, each from the point of view of a different group (archtype). This first chapter is from the view of the inhabitants of the Mist Valley.

[spoiler=Plot]

On the planet of Devla Terra, for as long as anyone can remember, there were fights between the northern tribes, in the frozen land of the "Ice Boundary" in the north, and the ever power hungry and aggressive groups from the mountains of the adjacent continent, referring to themselves only as "the Flamvell."

In the massive valley which cut this continent in half, miles deep and covered in perpetual mist, a more mysterious group lived in relative peace. Still able fighters to protect themselves against skirmishes when they would encounter the Flamvell, the Ice Boundary civilization often requested that the inhabitants of the Mist Valley join them to try and fight the Flamvells, but they rejected in favor of their more quiet life. However, the Flamvell's have recently made a breakthrough. Creating new machines, capable of destroying light and fighting without sight, they have been attacking the most hidden areas of the Mist Valley and only recently have its inhabitants signed a pact with the northern tribes in hopes of defeating the aggressive mountain dwellers.

Just as the fighter grew more intense, a scout of the Mist Valley, standing high atop a mountain where he was spying on the movements of the Flamvell, spotted something falling from the sky. It was massive. Quickly, he made his way back to his home to report the sight. The elders thought it a meteor of epic proportions, bound to destroy life on impact. With fear in their hearts, the residents watched as the object came down towards the horizon, and then, nothing.

Hours passed after it hit some distant spot, but nothing had happened.

The strategic commander has decided that it would be foolish to dedicate much of their force to investigate, with the Flamvells and their machines still attacking so relentlessly, but has decided that it might hold a secret worth knowing. For this reason, he has singled out a small group, you, to travel to the impact site and report anything of interest back to the valley as soon as possible - maybe it will turn the tide against the threat of the Flamvell.

[spoiler=Rules]

Rule one through to the end: Damn common sense.

[spoiler=Application]

Name:

Bio:

Appearance (description preferred):

Anything else (very much optional):

[spoiler=My Application/example]

Name: Grace Light

Bio: Currently only twenty years old, Grace has taken it as a great honour that she was chosen to be the scribe for this mission. Her training was to become a Seer, but even her masters couldn't see into the meteor's impact zone. This was the reason a group had to be sent out on foot, and she is tasked with recording all findings along the way as the group travels into unknown territories.

Appearance: Brown eyes, brown hair and a non-exceptional figure leave her very unextraordinary in her looks. As almost all inhabitants of the dangerous valley, she is physically strong to the point that she can fight for herself and the several-day trek to the impact zone shouldn't cause her any significant trouble.

Name: Falke Tibarn

Bio: Falke was found by a nomad shaman during the rainy season. Initially upon finding him, the shaman was confronted by a large bird like creature along with it's offspring. The two hissed at the shaman as if telling him to leave. The shaman casted a spell upon the creatures, keeping them still enough for him to snatch Falke and carry him away. As he was soon integrated into a Valley community, the story of how he was found caused suspicion and occasional jealousy. Eventually, the shaman died and left him two items. A sword made from dark metal, and shield made from wood found in the deepest part of Mist Valley. Soon after that, he left his small community and visited the main city of Mist Valley. After a small bump-in with the executioner, Falke was forced to go along with the group to protect them from threats. More of a suicide mission than one of glory. At the age of 21, he is ready to take on this mission, and hopefully find a way to leave.

Appearance (description preferred): Grey eyes with ebony hair that manages to reach his neck. Tanned with a tattoo on his right arm. Well built figure, nothing special, often dons black cloth for speed.

Anything else (very much optional): He has a close affinity to the large bird like creatures residing in Mist Valley. They perceive him as a friend.

Name: Kaij Velomo

Bio: Definitly one of the more mysterious residents residing in Mist Valley, rumors are that he secretly has joined forces with the Flamvell, acting as an insider. Although he himself has deinied all this. His history is shrouded in darkness, as he arrived in the valley as a child many years ago as a traveller, lost in the mist. The friendly people of Mist Valley took him in, and he grew up as one of their own. He is now 20, and ready to fight for those he care for.

Appearance (description preferred): Black, slick hair down to the shoulders, usually wears black clothing, although no-one knows why, he just always has. Has green eyes, so in the dark he almost looks like a cat. He hides an obsidian knife in a belt, which is always concealed under his equally black cloak.

Anything else (very much optional): Just to spice things up, let's say that he has a crush on Grace ;D And he's an excellent martial artist.

Name: Dracmus

Bio: He has friends among the Dragons and can summon huge swarms of the weaker ones, or smaller swarms of larger ones. He also has many friends among the Warriors, Beast-Warriors, and Beasts. He ends up getting into huge fights with fiends and zombies, although he'd had some help with those skirmishes from the Fairies. He is at once as steady as a rock, but as unpredictable as a Psychic in the midst of a telepathic maelstrom, making him both loved and feared by many. He was one of the first to join the front lines when the Valley of the Mist was being invaded, and actively fought against the Flamvells even before the treaty with the Northern Tribe of the Ice Mountains was signed. Though preferring to live in peace, he knows that there shall be no peace unless he takes up his sword and fights for his tomorrow, as well as everyone elses.

Appearance: About 6 feet high with Green hair and blue eyes that look more like an ice blue then a sky blue. he usually wears a white and light blue tunic with dark blue pants, and boots that are navy blue. (am i seeing a clear theme here? XD) He always carries around a very huge sword that he has trained with for most of his life, as well as a giant shield that goes up to 2 feet above his head from where it starts at his hips when he is wearing it on his back, the 5 1/2 foot shield being almost as tall as he is. (with the sword, think soul caliber [or the command mission equivalent]. for the shield, think LoZ LttP mirror shield, except it is a deep indigo blue [really?] and looks to be tooth shaped [for a dragon, just without the curvature] and bears a dragon emblem.)

Anything else: When he fights the enemy, stay out of his way. When he Summons the Dragons, run.

lol i like where this is going. however, for some reason...it reminds me of a dream that i had had a decade and more ago, and this strongly echoes events that i half remember from that dream, although i do not remember the exact details of it. the opening plot also bears a semblance to a nightmare i once had, where there were space rocks falling from the sky, but not exploding on impact, strangely enough. so hopefully i would be accepted, right? or did i end up making the app op'd? xD

by the way, i really like the one and only rule you had posted griffin, very nice.

Sorry, but I do think you ended up making it OP'd...

There are no Dragons, Fiends, Zombies, Beasts, Beast-Warriors or Fairys in noticable numbers in the area the Mist Valley residents know of. Also, no Summoning since it doesn't tend to end well. By the strength it takes to lift a 5.5ft tall shield, it also sounds like he's physically at an insane level that's probably too far for the small scouting group that the members are a part of.

oh, so in other words i can't post the app that i originally was going to. okay then, i'll just have to modify it. but as to the shield and sword, i can say that there were spellcasters that put spells on them to make them lighter, right? if so, then i can just do that. if not, then i'll just go with the who wolfgang shtick from trigun. xD

my updated aplication. thanks for pointing out the problems with it. by the way, are there any Spellcasters in the Valley of the Mist? =/

Normally it would be almost impossible to wield a shield and sword as big as that, but thankfully they were specially made by Spellcasters and imbued with a few spells so as to make them light, and easy to wield. Name: Suiga Frozt, reffered to as Ser Frozt

Bio: He is a knight of the Ice Boundary, and a skilled one, too. When the Ice Boundary people heard about the light destroying machines attacking the Mist Valley, Ser Frozt was sent there to help the valley's inhabitants in a try to recruit new allies to the Ice Boundary. The leaders of the valley accepted his help, and he was sent along with a group of Mist Valley people to investigate the meteor.

Appearance: He has light skin, like all norsemen, and very blonde, almost white, short hair. He is a muscular man, as well as a veteran, that has seen many battles with the Flamvells. He wears a chestplate with shoulderpads made out of scales from the dragons of the Ice Boundary, as well as a blue robe covering the legs, sporting the Ice Boundary's national sign, the snowflake. Along with this, he also wears warm gloves and boots made out of blue-colored leather. He holds a two-handed blade made out of enchanted, cold metal. (Yes, the metal is blue, too)

Anything else (very much optional): He likes blue, and is very loyal to his homelands, which is why he likes the color blue so much.

If this is not okay, I will of course make a more Mist Valley-like application :D

It'll start when Lopunny posts her app.

You mean next week?

If we're going to be realistic...

Grace stepped down from the rocky passage that took explorers south of the Valley of the Mist and onto a dirt track. From here, the land became much more flat, with only a few, small far-off hills dotting the horizon. She beckoned the rest of the five-strong group towards her. Here, she was standing at a fork in the dirt path. One track went forwards, straight into the forest that was only a short walk ahead, vibrant and green; the other skirted the forest, leading east to an area not visible through a few rock formations extending from the side of the Valley.

She already knew the landscape. The seers from the Valley were not outstandingly powerful - the resonance of the impact had left them unable to scan very far south of their homes at all - but they had created maps of much of the nearby area in the past. Going east would take them to a much more dangerous part of the continent that was heated by strong ocean currents from the south and had become much of a desert. "We're going to head straight forwards - through the forest," she told the rest of the group with a sense of authority, leaving a slight pause just in case anyone tried to object.

Kaij stood on the cliff next to Grace. His black hair was blown back elegantly by the wind. "Through the forest you say... I hope that the humidity is bearable, I hate wet places." He drew his machete. "But if we need to cut through anything, I'll be right here..." He grinned at Grace. As he stepped onto another rock to get on, he slipped on the wet surface, and was really close to plummeting down into the depths, if it wasn't for the tree branch hanging out, and he managed to pull himself out. "What an adventurous start" he muttered.

Weaving through the air was fun, his dark brown wings made this so easy. As his allies below came to a stop, Falke folded his wings inward. Dropping was also fun, except when you crash. Then it's not fun. Not fun at all. As he came closer to the ground, Falke suddenly opened his wings. Catching the air with his now opened wings, he landed silently and slowly beside Grace and the others.

Once more his wings folded in, creating a sort of 'organic coat'.

"How close are we?" Hopefully the answer would be much brighter than last time.

Kaij was still standing atop the cliff. "As far as I can see, it'll take us perhaps 6 hours to get to and a day to get through the forest, maybe more if we come across unexpected problems, which is likely," Kaij muttered the last part. He always seemed to be pessimistic. "Then, once we get through, I suspect we'll have a 2 day trek to the crash site. Yeah, it's quite long. 3 days is probably more realistic. Although, I will suggest we set up camp before we enter the forest. I am not sleeping in the forest, period."
