Harry looked back towards Kimp in astonishment, "what the hell!? How'd you manage to even touch Kimp??"

 

"Don't worry about me", Kimp said as he stood, "just cast another spell...."

 

"Hmph, right", Harry turned to the next page of his book, "Rainuse!"

 

The ground shook and trembled for a few seconds, then cracked right under me and Cogsworth's feet, quickly allowing an abyss to form.

 

 

"Ugh, Raiso!"

 

Time slowed again and me and Cogsworth jumped up and over, each in a different direction.

 

"I don't think we can beat this guy with just one spell.....but we sure can try." Cogsworth jumped up into the air and came down at Kimp with a fast speed. He smirked, "you know what to do."

 

 

"How pathetic, Rairuso."

 

The bright light consumed Kimp again and he tried to teleported.

 

 

I smirked along with him, "Raiso!"

 

Time slowed again and Cogsworth spun, kicking the book out of Harry's hands and grabbing onto Kimp as he teleported to approximately 10 feet away. Then continuously beat him as I ran over and grabbed the book off of the ground.

 

 

"How'd you manage to do that??"

 

 

"Heh", I took a pack of matches out of my pocket that I brought with us just for burning spell books, and did just that with them. "You just lost."

 

"Good job, James", Cogsworth said, giving one last punch.

 

 

Kimp faded away, saying his last words, "congrats, but there's no way you'll survive 'till the end."

[Dark Lightning]

Raizen gripped the book firmly as the figures inched closer. With every step they took he could feel his fear rising bit by bit. They could see the figures clearly now, it was a teen age girl holding a book similar to the one that Raizen held in his hands, and the small figure was an evil looking boy that looked about 6 or 7 years old.

Raizen flipped though the book, starting to panic. Raikunu crossed his arms

"What do I do?!" Raizen said, his voice shaken "Read out the 1st spell you moron..."

Raizen opened his mouth to yell out the spell but before he could say anything, the girl yelled

"Kusomusi!" and the mamodo shot another cosmonic beam.

Raizen jumped out of the way just in time

"Kusomusi...? What a weird spell..." he said.

"Hurry up and yell out the spell!" Raikunu scolded.

Raizen nodded as Raikun pointed his finger

"Kagemuzi!" Raizen yelled out. Raikunu's finger was glowing with a purple tint, then before he knew it, he had shot a shadow ball.

Nazo had just finished explaining what was going on, Mei-li was completely confused. "So.....you're telling me your a demon?" she asked bluntly, he face-palmed, a large red mark on his forehead, apparently, he's been doing this for a while. "For the sixty-third time.......yes...I'm a demon...." She smiles and looks at the book again. "So...why did I get the scary looking book? why couldn't you get a pink book or something?" he face-palms again. "It is based on my soul and powers....if anything The one with a pink...or worse yet, a white book has a power opposite of mine....." he states, saying the word "White" with disgust, reminding him of the fallen demon that was purified by King Zatch 1000 years ago. "So...what about a Golden book?" he looks at her again. "The Golden book is only for the royal family....or...for the Mamodo that truly deserves it.....I'll never obtain such power....." he actually seemed a little depressed, so she walks to him and hugs him. "Oh...it's okay, your still my favorite Mam....whatever you are...."

[Dark Lightning]

The small mamodo was pushed down to his knees by Raikunu's shadow ball. Raizen smirked faintly

"I think I've finally got this..." he said, eying the book.

The mamodo didn't hesitate to stand back up, he quickly ordered the girl, and the girl then shouted the same spell again.

Raizen then yelled out

"Kagemuzi!"

Again, a shadow ball flew towards them, but this time they were able to dodge it. Raikun shook his head

"We must find a way get closer...You a fast runner...?" he asked.

Raizen shook his head. Raikun then got ready to sprint.

"Then try to keep up..."

[Zeroke]

It was only 5:00 in the afternoon, but I was about ready to collapse. I placed Aura on my bed to let her rest. "Do you know how to prepare for those guys?" I asked.

"We can only train. Increase your hearts energy to amp the power of the spells. Then learn new ones." Aura said in a tired voice.

"How do we learn new spells?"

"...I don't know. The elders said we would have to work with our partners to understand everything."

"Right. Just rest for now, do you want anything?"

"No. Where are you going?"

"Downstairs."

...Would it be much to ask you to stay? I don't want to be alone." Her voice shaking. I hadn't expected her to ask that. Maybe she wanted to be closer to me, since we were in some crazy fight with these Mamodo people.

"Sure." I layed myself against the wall. Aura put her head on my lap, it took all my will to stop from throwing her off. No one had ever been this close to me before, it feels unusual. I run my hand through her hair to comfort her.

"You're the first friend I've ever had." Aura said as she drifted off into a deep sleep...

I sighed and fell to my knees, "I never thought that using spells would take up energy, you should've mentioned that."

 

"Right, sorry", Cogsworth said, scratching the back of his head.

 

 

"Hey, I'm not finished with you punks!", Harry yelled from the distance.

 

 

"Hmm? Shut up!"

 

"Heh, let's go, James." Cogsworth started walking off.

 

"Wait, what? I need to rest some first."

 

"Fine...stupid humans", Cogsworth mumbled to himself, "always running out of energy so quickly."

 

 

As we spoke, Harry was walking up towards us. "I may not have a mamodo anymore", he started, "but I can still beat the crap out of you and yours."

 

 

"Cogsworth, I think you can handle him yourself, can't you?"

 

"You bet." He jumped up, flipped, and landed behind Harry, sweep kicking him as he landed.

 

I eyed him, "are you sure you want to do this?"

 

 

He grabbed for me legs, the only thing close enough for him to reach, and tried to pull me in.

 

 

"So", I kicked him with the flat part of the bottom of my sneakers, hitting him right on his skull. "He should be dazed for a while, and I don't think he'll want anymore, let's go back home and rest up."

 

"Okay, finally." Cogsworth and I walked off, back to my home, it was now about 5:00 PM.

Nazo had already made himself at home, though he saw Mei-li's expression, she seemed worried about have a boy at her house. "What? why do you keep staring at me like that?" He said while eating an entire turkey. "Uhm...nothing...it's just...that turkey wasn't cooked....are you sure you should eat it raw?" he looked at her for a few seconds. "You get more energy if you eat it raw...I would prefer something hardier but this turkey will do for now." she was a little weirded out, but soon after she just giggled a little. "What the hell are you laughing abo..." he stopped his sentence abruptly, in the distance he could feel one, a mamodo, low level but still one that had to be dealt with none the less. "Perfect...I was beginning to get bored...let's go woman..." again, she was confused, but she knew she would hae no choice once he ran out the door. "Oh......okay..."

We rested up and walked out of our house in search of another mamodo already, "Cogsworth, are you sure we should be heading out already?"

 

"Yes, I sense another's presence very close by. Possibly stronger than ours, but we won't know until we get there." He walked down the street ahead of me.

 

"Hmm, who could it be", I walked caught up with him and walked along side him, 'till we caught up and litterately ran into a couple of people.

"Wait!!! Nazo, I can't keep up!" she yelled trying to catch up to her mamodo, but his sights were now on the mamodo in front of him. "Well...if this isn't just the high point of my day...look at this Mei-li....a mamodo..." she looks at the small demon. "Oh my god...he's adorable! how come I got the scary mamodo?" He gets a little angry at the comment "Forget it...let's just finish them of quickly....so I can go get something better to eat." she pouted. "but we just met them...can't we become friends first?" he facepalms at the comment...."why......why did I end up with you?"

Cogsworth blushed at Mei-Li's comment, "adorable? Well, I don't know...."

 

I snickered at there conversation, "you two really should respect each other more", I said as I opened my book.

 

"James.....why do you want to fight them?" He was puzzled, at how they wanted to become friends, yet James wanted to fight.

 

"You have to become king, a benevolent king. Zatch is old news, and you're just as nice, and stronger."

 

"You're so nice to me, and you're right, I have to become king!" He looked Mei-Li and Nazo in the eyes, "let's do this."

[Zeroke]

Crashing thunder, exploding rubble, this is what I hear after only a few minutes of rest. "Is it another Mamodo?" If it was, they weren't looking for us, but another opponent. I decided to check it out, and to leave Aura to sleep.

I run out the front door to see a commotion happening not too far from here. I sprint toward the area to find a tall, mean-looking mamodo. His partner looked to be a girl that just flew in from China. Their opponents were a Mamodo who looked like he could have been Sherlock Holmes assistant, I giggled at the thought. His book owner was a guy with a green jacket. I hide behind a torn piece of rock to not get caught up in the action. I begin to wonder why I decided to come here when I was already beaten up...

"Well then, this should be fun......you're partner seems to be quite the rough one around the edges.....Mei li, remember what I said...say the spell with feeling or else it won't work." She looked at him and nodded ." don't worry about it, I'll do my best." he sighs, "that's what I'm afraid of...." she gives a cute smile as she opens the book looking straight at James. "The first Spell....Anario!" Nazo lifts his hand and a Black sphere of energy begins forming. "Take this!!!" he fires it with great speed towards Cogsworth

"Remember what we discussed...", I mention.

 

---Earlier that day---

 

"You know that we can only activate this spell when we're being attacked...", I started.

 

"Yes", replied Cogsworth.

 

"And we can only use our spells a certain amount of times before our energy runs out."

 

"Correct."

 

"So, we have to win by using as little spells as possible. Which means that we'll have to rely mostly on our usual speed, strength, and defensive abilities without the book."

 

"Right. I'll keep that in mind."

 

---Now---

 

"Right, I remember." Cogsworth jumped to the side to avoid the attack, and rushed towards Mei-Li, her spell book in particular.

 

I grabbed the box of matches from my pocket and prepared to light a match.

"aiiieee!" she yelped as he got near her, surprising her with his speed, "Nazo!" she yelled in fright, but before her yell had ended Nazo had already answered, grabbing her by the back of her dress and throwing her into the air, as he forced his fist down on the smaller mamodo."You didn't think it would be that easy did you?" he laughs as he places his palm on cogsworths chest. "Say the spell! and I'll finish him off right here!" but she was still screaming and didn't hear a word he said, giving Cogsworth time to get out of his grasp. "Dammit woman!" he yelled as he jumped back to catch her.

"Hehehe, you're human isn't in synch with you", Cogsworth snickered, standing back up from the push.

 

"Great job!"

 

He ran back over to me and waited for an order, "you have a plan?"

 

"Of course, we'll just use our superior strength and-"

 

"Superior strength!? This is Nazo, he's the one who always used to beat up on me back in the mamodo world."

 

"Oh, well, I didn't know that. Then we'll use our superior intellect and skill. And when the time comes, we'll finish them off."

 

"Right, there's no way we'll lose to them, not with an awesome partner like you", Cogsworth smirked.

Nazo jumped back. "Good you remembered your place Cogsworth." he raised his hand when he heard another tell him to stop. "Huh? who the hell is there?" he looks to the side and sees a figure hiding. "well well well....looks like we're not alone...." he raises his other hand at the other. "Say the spell Mei-Li!" she looks at Cogsworth. "you used to be a bully?" he glances back. "What does that have to do with anything?! just say the damn spell!" he glares his sharpened teeth at her. but simply turns back to Cogsworth. "Whatever...I'll do this without the spells."

"Umm, James....", Cogsworth was a little frightened about the mysterious person hiding in the shrubs, is he another mamodo?

 

"So tell me", I started, "who are you anyway?"

 

"And one more thing, yes, Nazo is a huge bully. Haven't you noticed by the way he treats you?"

[Zeroke]

"Woah man! Watch where you aim that, it could've killed me!" I yell at the one named Nazo. "Why are you fighting, can't this War be settled another way?!" They both seemed to be suprised that another human knew of the Mamodo War. I decided to keep negotiating since it was the only thing stopping these guys from frying me. "Why does it have to be physical battles in order to decide the next King? There has to be another way to settle this, but peacefully." All four of them kept staring at me, I wasn't sure what any of them would do. I begin to wish Aura was with me...

[zaneko]

Dan shuffled down the street. Jio followed, his scarf dragging behind him. Jio was snacking on a bag of chips. MY chips! Dan thought fiercely.

"Jio," he bagan, "I cna understand why you need me to be your master, and why you follow me, especially since that guy attacked me..."

 

"You dealt with that good," Jio interjected.

 

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," Dan frowned. "But why must you live in my house and eat my food?"

 

"Where else would I stay?" Jio scoffed. He stopped and looked around. "Hey, I hear a battle!" He ran off, and Dan followed.

"I wish there could be", started Cogsworth, "and there would've been. But as you know, 99 mamodo were dragged from there home to fight with each other for the place of king. Zatch didn't like that, but the only thing he could do about it was to have another war. So, here we are, even the ones of us that don't want to fight this battle, but don't wanna give up on this oppourtinity either."

 

"Right, and Cogsworth will be the next king!"

 

"James, I don't plan on becoming king, only on stopping the evil mamodo like Nazo from becoming king. I'm not king material."

[Lord JZ of the Enigma]

"Evil eh?" he laughs "never thought of things that way." he looks at Mei-li. "You gonna believe them Mei-li? remember, I can't do this without you......" he states as he looks at the other male, he smells something on him..."wait...I know that smell....damn....don't tell me....your mamodo....is Aura." he begins laughing at the name. "The one with the white book..." he begins walking towards the boy, his hand raised at his head.

"No, don't touch him!" Cogsworth ran towards Nazo, fist raised high.

 

"Cogsworth....you must feel very strongly about this battle, and I'll stick with you until the end."

 

"Take this", exclaimed Cogsworth, before tripping over a small root. "Wa!" He fell over, face first, into the rocky ground. "Ungh", he said getting up, "well, that was embarassing...."

 

I stood there with a dissapointed look on my face, ".....ugh, right. Let's try that again."

 

"Right", he stood back up and started running towards Nazo again, fist held high again.

Jio carefully approached the area he sensed the other mamodo from. He forward, making sure he was out of sight. Beside him, Dan did the same. By mutual consent, they pecked through the bushes at them.

 

"I don't think that you can handle that many at a time," Dan whispered.

 

"As much as it pains me to admit," Jio whispered back, "I think so too."

 

"Then we collect information. We may have to fight them later and it will help if we know their spells." Dan fished a notepad from his pocket as Jio nodded.

[Lord JZ of the Enigma]

"Mei-Li! now!" she was wondering whether or not to say the spell, and seeing Cogsworth trip was adorable to her, but she just stood there as Nazo had to deal with it on his own. "Fine!" he rushes forward and grabbing his fist. "I hear you've gotten stronger, but is the mere sight of me causing you to trip on yourself?" he lifts him up and balls his fist. "It would be so much easier if Mei-Li would just say the spell, but since she won't, I'll just beat the crap out of you..." as his fist goes towards Cogsworth's face the book smashes the back of his head. "NO! Bad Nazo!" He drops cogsworth and looks back at her. "What is wrong with you!"

"You know that I'm not much for insults", said Cogsworth, holding himself, "but you've got one STUPID partner with you."

 

"Wow, Cogsworth, what do you think that's all about? Wait a second, Cogsworth, the book, it's not protected!"

 

"Way ahead of you", he said while jumping up and snatching the book out of Mei-Li's hands, "quick, get out the matches."

 

"Right", I took out my box of matches and pulled one out, but not lighting it. "......You're a worthy opponent, and you know that you could die this instant, but I'll let you live. Cogsworth, drop their book."

 

"Hmm? Okay." He dropped the book and walked along side me down the street.
