New Mods

How long you've been on YCM isn't exactly the most critical factor in determining whether you become a moderator or not. I became a moderator after only a month.

However' date=' I believe we need a new team of mods because the current team is guilty of Vague Problem. I cannot provide any specific examples of Vague Problem, except perhaps mentioning Anecdote Very Loosely Related To Vague Problem, but I assure you that this proliferation of Vague Problem will ultimately cause Random Generic Bad Outcome.

I agree with the first part Crab Helmet, I was just saying that for an example. People who have been on longer know how the rules go and what to do and what not to do. I'm also suprised you became a mod after a month, you must of been doing really good to become a mod, or they just needed more mods, anyway that is a huge accomoilishment!!!

First, where will it be? Second, I was thinking of a 'New Mod App' thread (that's an old suggestion). Third, a mod must be a kind and respectful member which helps the forum that he/she's into.

Tho with those facts, I think I'll go to no support, until I know which forum are you pointing to.

But becoming a mod will be great!

To be quite honest, Mods are the symbols of respect on this forum. They have to do something respectful on right in order to be recognized as a mod.

I feel that most of the mods are Great Where they are. Yes even you Crab. lol.

Icy has been a great Mod. Just because people don't see him all the time doesn't mean he's not there.

I do agree, some MODs do things that we don't understand. So threads get locked without warning or sometimes by mistake. That is why you talk to them. This is where the Mod is also important. They need to be calm dealing with people in these issues.

That's all for Now.

Yeah' date=' Opalmoon is the only nice mod. No offense Icy.

Offense taken that seriously hurts my pride... I try my best to be nice. I try my best to do what's right. But no matter what I do, people still give me hell for it. Now, whos fault is that?

Even Dark Mousy, I was kind to him till the end. Being a good sport, mature and trying to work with his opinions. Opalmoon has to deal with MUCH less than I do.

Clubs and Organisations needs it's own mod' date=' a mod that only has Clubs and Organisations.

Not really, since Flame Dragon pretty much has that section covered.

Judging by the OP's post, it seems that he wants more mods for General. Realistic Cards is also in need of new mods.

The last time we had a New Mod Application thread was because Multimedia was new, and Flame Dragon and Opalmoon were chosen out of all the applicants. We actually don't need a New Mod Application thread simply because it's far too complicated of a process and only one or two people would be chosen anyway.

Becoming a mod isn't as great as you think it is, nor is kindness and respect a primary prerequisite. You actually need the motivation to work, and you have to deal with things like sorting out bans and locking threads. Even if you like someone, you have to hand out any necessary warns and locks. In my opinion, the only reason someone becomes a mod is because they actually have good plans for the section they get placed in charge of, not to mention savvy.

For once, I'll side with Icy. Opal may be the nicest mod, I'll agree there, but she has 1 forum to take care of. Icy has *however many forums YCM has*.

Roxas: CC needs at least 2 more mods after Nap left, Yankee isn't really modding as such, neither is J-max... Yeah.

If anyone is going to become a mod' date=' it should be someone who has been here for a very long time. And no that would not be me, I joined May 2009, anyway like I was saying only someone who has gotten to know a lot of members, has respect from them members of YCM, and has been here for a long time has a chance of being a mod.

Appointing people for having a high post count is stupid; one of the reasons I agreed with Raven's promotion when she only had like- what was it, 600 posts?

I also feel that Bloodrun was promoted for that reason, and he was the worst Moderator YCM's ever had. ^_^;

TBQH I havent really seen TyrantKing and TotalObelisk active at all.

TK was when he first got promoted an age and half ago' date=' but since then, not really.

[/quote']

TyrantKing was weird because YCMaker made him a mod out of nowhere when he had never posted on the grounds that he had made a lot of cards. It's hardly surprising that one who didn't post originally doesn't do so much now.

TotalObelisk has been completely inactive for a long time.

However, you guys are missing the point if you think getting rid of inactive mods will solve anything. Moderators like TotalObelisk may not be helping anything, but they aren't hurting anything either; their existence is not making the site worse. As such, removing their moderator powers will not make the site better. As such, if one's goal is to improve the site, conducting a witch hunt to kill off the moderators who don't post much will do nothing.

This. And thats probably why the inactive moderator policy was never really enacted. It's ridiculous. Since they are qualified for the job, despite being inactive, when we get the help it's greatly appreciated.
