Naruto: Gaiden

This is my attempt at writing a Naruto Fan Fiction. I will attempt to stay as true as possible as I can to the Manga/Anime made by Masashi Kishimoto. Just 1 note, I apologize if you think it’s quite long, but this is what happens when I get writing about something I like with a passion. None the less, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

Episode 01 – The Return

Background

It was a bright, sunny, humid morning in the Land of Fire; all across the land, there were animals frolicking gleefully as the land was peaceful and calm. The air smelt of sweet Jasmine, Strawberry, Lavender and Chamomile, while the breeze is so gentle on your face, you could miss it’s presence. On a path walking through a forest about 3 to 5 miles away from the Leaf Village, there were two men walking along side by side; one old and the other young. They walked slowly, talking about the various aspects of Ninja life, and the rewards and perils that are associated with whatever they do in life. They suddenly picked up the pace slightly in tandem, as though they were being followed. They continued to walk quickly, slowly increasing to a quick jog. The Leaf Village was in sight of them (no more than 1.5km away), and thus they decided to slow down back to a simple walk.

Meanwhile, Sakura was sitting on her bed in her room, looking down at a picture of Team 7. A tear was rolling down her cheek slowly as she remembered all the time she and her team spent together, and now how they had all moved on and left her all alone for one reason or another. She slowly began to stroke the side of the picture with Sasuke on it, and began to weep more and more until she had to close her eyes to control herself.

“Are you always this emotional?” said a male voice from behind her. She opened her eyes widely and spun around to her bed, and saw a strange man, dressed all in black, laying on her bed with his eyes closed, hands clasped behind his head and left ankle rested on top his right knee. Sakura looked perplexed at the man; she was shocked to think how he could’ve got in the room without raising any alarm or making any sound. Her eyes widened as she felt a force emanating from the man unlike any power she had ever felt. She felt short of breath, and she was so weak in the knees that she stumbled to the floor. The man opened his eyes slightly and looked down at her, and his narrow icy stare pierced her mind when his eyes met hers. Suddenly, out of desperation, Sakura clenched her fist and punched at the man, but as she struck him, he vanished like he was swirling down a drain. She suddenly felt no pressure, and she was able to stand to her feet. She looked confused and concerned about this man’s appearance. Suddenly, she hears a familiar name...

At the main entrance of the village, the two from the forest were walking through the gate, to the happiness of the men at the gate. As they walked through the streets of the village, the younger one suddenly ran up a lamp post and stood on top, looking out over the village. “Naruto! What you see?” asked Jiraiya, shouting up to the top of the pole. Naruto looked around him looking at the village he had left 2 and a ½ years ago, and saw that nothing had changed; nothing bar a few colour changes (to be expected) and of course the 5th Hokage’s face had been added to the mountain. Naruto smiled like he had never smiled before, happy to be home and where he feels he belongs. Then he looked down and noticed a lady running towards him, and he recognized her as Sakura. Naruto jumped down off the post and landed just in front of Sakura as she stopped right in front of him, and suddenly she couldn’t help herself but to hug Naruto happily. Suddenly, she realised what she was doing and let go quickly, embarrassed.

“So... Naruto. You’ve sure changed” said Sakura, now with great confidence. Naruto looked slightly confused, but then realised that he was now taller than Sakura. “You’ve grown so much. I can hardly believe it” exclaimed Sakura. "So, umm... Do I look any different?” asked Sakura curiously, obviously looking for recognition from her old friend. Jiraiya looked at Sakura, seeing the beautiful lady she had grown into but also the amazing strength and presence that had been disposed upon her by Lady Tsunade. Then he looked at Naruto and knew they inevitable truth that would happen. “Well, Naruto?” asked Sakura, kind of impatiently.

“No, Sakura. You look the same to me” said Naruto stupidly. Jiraiya hung his head, knowing that that was coming. He started to chuckle quietly and then sighed. Both of them noticed Sakura was starting to go nuts. The blood vessels in her head began to pulsate as she got madder and madder. Suddenly, without warning Sakura swung her fist and punched Naruto directly at Jiraiya. Jiraiya reacted quickly and grabbed Naruto, but saw Sakura rushing at them. Suddenly, Jiraiya felt something and rushed at her just as a blade of wind sliced through the gap just between Naruto and Jiraiya. Naruto, Jiraiya and Sakura looked around frantically looking for the source of the attack, but there was nothing there.

“You two Ok? Who or What attacked us?” asked Naruto frantically. Jiraiya pondered as Naruto and Sakura discussed the situation and looked around from behind him. *Could “He” really be exacting his will here?* thought Jiraiya. *If he is... why these two? Could he be after the Fox?*. He continued to think over and over again, pondering every possible scenario. “You two stay together. Watch each others backs and don’t leave each other alone for any reason... not even to go to the bathroom” said Jiraiya sternly. Sakura and Naruto both looked at each other, but suddenly looked away blushing. “I’m going to see Lady Tsunade. We need to have a grown-up talk” and with that Jiraiya vanished, leaving Naruto and Sakura standing alone, concerned for not only each other’s safety, but their own too...

On a misty evening, at one of the side gates of the Leaf Village, a man wearing an Akatsuki uniform with a very long Katana on his back was seen walking slowly towards the gate alone. As he drew closer and closer to the gate, the guard lets out a warning for him to stop, but still the man walked. When he was about 5 feet away, the guard performs a summoning justu, but not to summon an animal but instead summoning a huge spear. He thrust the spear at his gut, but suddenly and unexplainably the spear was deflected away, throwing the guard off balance. Eventually, the man got within arm reach of the guard. He reached his arm out and put it on the guard’s head and then suddenly the guard just collapse onto the floor, drooling from the mouth. And with that, the Akatsuki ninja just walked by and on into the Leaf Village...

Episode 02 – The S-Class Skirmish

Episode 02 – The S-Class Skirmish

Background

Naruto an Sakura were walking around the village, suspicious at everyone they saw. Around then they knew there was someone or something attacking them, and they just did not know who or what it was. Any sound around them made them jump, believing that it was another potential attack on their lives. The people around them who saw them were concerned and confused about their actions, completely oblivious to the problems facing them. Sakura whispered “Naruto!”. Naruto looked at her and leaned in slightly. “We need to go somewhere where we can sit down and keep our wits about us covertly. So, let’s go to the tea shop opposite the Hokage Building” she said with one hand and lips close to his ear. Naruto nodded in concurrence and the two began walking again towards the Hokage Building, still cautious not to be attacked again.

Meanwhile, walking down a separate stretch of path was a man dressed in an Akatsuki uniform, but not a normal one; his eyes were icy blue and he was in white instead of black, with a conical hat which had a wider rim than most conical hats. He was subtly looking around for something special. *Hmm... I’ve got to find him and get the ring back. Otherwise...* he thought intensely, yet his expression didn’t change. He walked up to one of the stalls. “Excuse me” he said in a calm, monotone voice. The shopkeeper turned to him and walked over to him. Before the keeper could say anything, the Akatsuki man showed him a picture. “Have you seen this guy around here?” he asked softly. The keeper squinted his eyes and stroked his chin as he looked at the picture.

“Nope. Haven’t seen him around since he left this village 3 years ago” said the shopkeeper as he looked up. The man grunted and walked away, slightly dissatisfied with the answer, leaving the shopkeeper with jaw open as he went to speak. The man continued his search, asking anyone who would listen to him, and he kept getting the same answer (relatively). With each person he asked gave him no clues or positive answers to his question, his anger and impatience grew more and more, yet his expression was still fixed. “I know your here! I will find you eventually! It’s just a matter of time! Come on out and save me the trouble of finding you!” he shouted at the top of his lungs...

At the Hokage’s office, Jiraiya was sitting with arms folded on the window sill behind Tsunade, who was sitting in her chair at her desk, with her head in her clasped hands. They both obviously looked concerned by what they were there to talk about, and Tsunade was even sweating the conversation. “So. Do you want to start, or should I?” asked Jiraiya calmly. Tsunade looked over her shoulder at him, and her eyes began to tear up and were quivering. Jiraiya closed his eyes, and sweat began to pour down his cheeks.

“If neither of you will start. Then I’ll do it” said a calm, soothing mysterious voice. They both looked over to the windows on the other side of the office and saw a man in an Akatsuki uniform standing there, with a abnormally long (about 2.5 foot), sheathed machete-like dagger in his left hand, staring out into the village. *How did he get in here? And how was he so smooth at doing it? I couldn’t even sense him* asked Tsunade and Jiraiya simultaneously, as if thinking exactly the same thing. He looked back at them, with a cold, steely, imposing stare. “The fact of the matter is that he is influencing this side of the gate with his Chakra. Another fact is that he is targeting those who could be a threat to him. And that he is far more of a threat than Orochimaru and Akatsuki are put together” said the Akatsuki man stoically. “Tch!” said Tsunade. *How does this kid know about him? There’s only a select few who know about that man.* thought Jiraiya as he stared at him, confused by this Akatsuki man whom not only Tsunade has not attacked, but also knows information kept secret from so many people.

“Who are you, kid?” asked Jiraiya cautiously. The man looked at him and momentarily Jiraiya was fazed by the stare. The man then slowly removed his conical hat, dropping it to his side. Tsunade closed her eyes in amazement, while Jiraiya closed his eyes and began to giggle, which shortly grew into a low laugh. Then they heard the noise of someone shouting just outside the Hokage Office, down on the ground. Without hesitation, the man rushed at the door and rushed out before Tsunade or Jiraiya could react. “Suteibu, Wait!” shouted Tsunade in desperation but it was already too late to stop him. “Idiot. Shizune!” Tsunade shouted. As she said that, Shizune entered quickly and apprehensively. “Call Kakashi Hatake, and tell him Suteibu’s back in the village” ordered Tsunade. Without saying a word, Shizune bowed and turned away to quickly find Kakashi, slamming the door behind her.

Outside on the ground below, the white Akatsuki man looked around, waiting for his target to come out and show him/herself. His looking was so subtle, you could mistake it for his eyes just quivering back and forth. He looked up and saw through the window Jiraiya and Tsunade. *Hmm... I wonder if they know I’m here. I shouted loud enough for them to know, so why aren’t they looking for me?* he thought curiously as he looked at the concerned and reserved looks on their faces. *Oh well, doesn’t matter. Back to my sear...*

Suddenly, he felt something odd as Suteibu slashed his Dagger at an insane speed. Suteibu slashed a Kunai (that the man drew from his sleeve to protect himself) out of his hand and cut the man’s hand. The blood squirted out of his hand and then sharply slowed a gentle drip after the initial squirt of blood. Suteibu charged at the man again, and slashed vertically (from bottom to top), which the man back-flips away from. As the man landed back on his feet, he was suddenly thrown backwards after being spin kicked by Suteibu. Suteibu walked back to grab his dagger (which he had thrown into the ground) while the man bounced head over heels violently across the floor, ultimately coming to a complete stop laying his back looking up at the clouds. Swiftly, Suteibu appeared on top of the man and placed the dagger against the man’s shoulder while the man placed hand against Suteibu’s opposing shoulder.

Sakura and Naruto ran out into the streets (after hearing the sounds of people screaming and the shockwaves of the man being flung away) and saw both Akatsuki members fighting in the middle of the streets. Naruto and Sakura were about to charge before Kakashi appeared in front of them, blocking their paths. One look in his eyes quelled any arguments either had to say.

“You should see yourself. You have any idea what you like right at this moment, Aisu?” asked Suteibu sadistically. Aisu said nothing, he just stared back at him with the same cold, emotionless expression he had all day. “A ravenous beast. The same blood runs through both of us. The blood of a beast who wonders... hunting for the blood of others” said Suteibu.

“I’ve bleed all of that kind of blood away” said Aisu coyly. Suteibu’s eyes shifted from a cold look to an anger filled, hateful look within a split second, while Aisu’s eyes narrowed and became pinpoint, like a needle aiming at a target.

“Then why are you still alive?!” shouted Suteibu viciously. Then, without hesitation, both men attacked simultaneously; Suteibu thrusted his dagger into Aisu’s shoulder, while Aisu fired an ice spike through Suteibu’s shoulder. The force of each attack forced them both to backwards and Suteibu dropped his dagger to the floor and cringe as the blood poured from both of them. Without warning, Suteibu grabbed Aisu around the mouth with his right hand (the hand which had the dagger in it) and squeezed tightly as a Shadow Clone of Suteibu appeared behind him and picked up the dagger. The clone slashed the dagger, but as it struck Aisu he vanished in a buff of smoke and Suteibu’s fingers went into the smoke. Just then, Kakashi, Sakura and Naruto moved behind him.

“Damn it!” whispered Suteibu. As he turned 90 degrees (with his injured shoulder pointing away them), he saw Sakura, Naruto and Kakashi standing behind him; Naruto had a Kunai drawn, Sakura had gloves on ready to fight and Kakashi had his Sharingan eye exposed. Suteibu held his dagger diagonally in front of him, across his body and smiled...

Background

Suteibu stood looking over at Kakashi, Naruto and Sakura; he could see the anger in Naruto eyes boiling up and knew it was due to the Akatsuki coat he was wearing, yet didn’t even think about removing it for a second.

“What are you doing here, Suteibu?” asked Kakashi edgily, as he drew a Kunai out of one of his vest’s pockets. Suteibu glanced at him and said nothing while holstering his dagger; he just stared a hole through Sakura and he knew that Kakashi and Naruto knew that he was. Suteibu opened his Akatsuki jacket slighty and latched his holstered dagger onto his belt before returning back to his original stance.

Background2

“Hey!” shouted Naruto, now with red eyes. “Quit looking at her like that!” he shouted as Naruto rushed at Suteibu with Kunai in hand ready to be used. Suteibu continued to stare at Sakura as Naruto continued to bare down on him with the intention to kill him; the merciless look in his eyes intensified as he got closer while Suteibu paid him no attention, and the attributes of the fox began to appear more and more. When he got into range, Naruto thrusted the Kunai at Suteibu’s right eye. Sakura charged at Suteibu as well, trying to use her movements as a distraction for Naruto to successfully attack.

However, when the Kunai was within an inch of striking Suteibu grabbed Naruto’s hand with his left hand, forced him round and held the Kunai against Naruto’s neck while grabbing Naruto around the mouth with his right hand and looked back at Sakura again, who had now stopped seeing the attack had failed. Naruto began struggling from the bind he was in, but his efforts were in vain as Suteibu’s grip tightened whenever Naruto tried to pull his hand away (like his hand was in a Chinese Finger Trap).

“Is he always this impatient?” queried Suteibu as his gaze left Sakura and became fixated on Kakashi. “Oh well, it’s not your fault Naruto that you can’t control the fox within you. Your will just isn’t strong enough to withstand the sheer animalistic instinct of a Tailed-Beast” and with that Naruto’s eyes widened, as did Kakashi’s. *And what’s worse, it appears that...*. His thoughts stopped midstream and he suddenly forced the Kunai out of Naruto’s hand and flung him up into the Hokage’s office.

Background3

Suddenly while Kakashi watched Naruto fly away Suteibu charged at Kakashi, passing by Sakura before she even noticed he had moved. Kakashi looked down and noticed the blitz in time to counter any Taijutsu thrown his way, but then Kakashi noticed the dagger in his hand. “Got Ya!” shouted Suteibu as he thrust his dagger at great supersonic-like speed; Kakashi even gasped at the speed in which he drew the weapon (being unable to follow it completely with his Sharingan). Kakashi was barely able to dodge the attack in time before the dagger struck him in the stomach. “Leaf Gale!” shouted Suteibu swiftly, and swung his right foot at Kakashi’s torso.

Kakashi managed to grab the foot in time, and flung Suteibu away instinctively and desperately. Suteibu spun in midair and threw the dagger at Sakura. Sakura noticed that he had performed a throwing action with his arm, but she couldn’t see the dagger coming at her. Naruto (struggling to stand after being thrown) looked down and saw Sakura in peril, and without hesitation went to jump and save Sakura. But as he put his foot on the windowsill, Tsunade grabbed his arm and refused to let him go.

“So, did you learn what you needed to learn?” asked Jiraiya as he appeared behind Suteibu with Sakura in his arms and dagger in his mouth. Suteibu looked back at him and took the dagger off Jiraiya. Jiraiya put Sakura down on the floor and just as he did Sakura swung her fist and punched through Suteibu. Her eyes widened as she looked around, confused on how someone could be there and not there at the same time.

“*laugh* I thought you of all people would be familiar with the Body Flicker Technique, Lady Haruno” shouted Suteibu from up above them. Everyone in attendance looked up to see Suteibu sitting on the roof of the Hokage’s office, with leg dangling over the edge and balancing the dagger on his finger. Naruto’s blood began to boil even more now as he charged up the side of the building at Suteibu. In response, Suteibu threw the dagger at vicious speed at Naruto’s shoulder. This forced Naruto to attempt a dodge, which caused him to lose his chakra control in his feet and he plummeted to the ground uncontrollably.

Sakura moved herself underneath Naruto, and as he landed in her arms the force pushed her to the floor as well while the dagger that was thrown hit the ground and embedded itself between Kakashi’s feet. He squatted down and pulled the dagger out of the ground before looking up at Suteibu, who was standing on the edge with arms folded. “Sakura, Naruto” said Kakashi quietly as he appeared beside them “I need you two to stay here and let me deal with...”.

“Kakashi! You and your 2 children meet me at the Training Grounds” shouted Suteibu cutting off Kakashi’s whisper. “You know the one where your bell test occurred. And just for added incentive if you two turn up and meet my challenge... I’ll tell you what I know about Sasuke’s progress with Orochimaru” he shouted smugly. Naruto and Sakura’s eyes widened at the prospect of learning about Sasuke. “Anyway, hope to see you there children. Oh and Kakashi... I want my dagger back when you come” said Suteibu coyly as he vanished instantly.

Meanwhile at the massive black gate in the baron land, a group of ninja were standing outside the gate watching the gate shudder periodically. At the centre of the gate, there was a big red gem on the gate and it was slowly cracking apart. Soon, a group of priest-like ninja (dressed in white) were walking up towards the gate. They spoke silently to the captain of the men at the gate, and soon all of the shinobi present looked up and all cringed at the sight of the red orb breaking.

Background4

“Oh No! The Orb... it’s breaking apart” shouted one of the white ninja. The ninja ran up to the elderly white ninja and grabbed him “Did you call him? I don’t need to remind you what will happen if he breaks through the gate, and you know none of us can stop him if he gets out” bellowed the ninja frantically, clearly frieghtened of the prospect of the gate breaking. The old ninja did nothing but stare at him pitying the blight that had gripped him. Suddenly, a massive shockwave emanated from the gate and flung everyone about 500 metres away with sickening force.

“*pants* ARGH! *pants*” screamed one of the black ninja, as he pulled a large piece of stone (in a spike shape) out of his ribs. “What the hell was that?!” asked the ninja, as he staggered around looking for the other people who were with him. As he looked around at them, all he could see was a littering of dead, bloody, broken bodies scattered sporadically away from gate. The ninja collapsed to the ground and began to cry over the loss over his Shinobi brethren to such a malicious force...

Background5

On the other side of the gate, the same man from before was kneeling on the same spot he was sitting on before with his hand placed flat on the floor, and he was periodically forcing Chakra into the ground and with each pulse there was a black flash of light, which surprisingly dimmed the area. Accompanying each pulsation of force, the dust between the man and the gate shot up like geysers and swirled around in the winds of the baron land, however his gaze at the gate never faltered for a second. His gaze slowly intensified as each pulse weakened the gate gradually. But all of a sudden after one last massive pulse, he stopped his assault and stood up straight, folding his arms.

“Not too long now...” he said in a wispy, monotone, almost lifeless voice. He slowly walked to the edge of the plateau and jumped off of it. Then he placed his hand against the rock wall and the wall opened up revealing a pitch-black den with a set of stairs.

Background6

He walked down all the stairs and into a dimly lit, cubic room with a teenage girl sitting on the edge of the bed. “Hope I didn’t scare you with my actions up there. You got anything you’d like to share with me... my sweet lady?” he asked as he started looking in a massive tome.

“Soon the accursed and anointed ones will come to these plains, and on that day the blockade will fall and chaos will envelope that land” she said whimsically, almost as if she was a goddess. The small smile protruded on the man’s face as he closed the tome gently and the girl climbed under the covers. “Did I do good, my lord?” she asked, looking for recognition. He said nothing; he just looked at her and she smiled as she closed her eyes to sleep as the lighting dimmed even more...

Just to tell you, the Opening Theme has been changed (thanks again to Byakuya for the find). So on that note, if you do not like either the Opening or Ending Themes, you can blame Byakuya for that. However I will not be changing the Themes now for a while. Also, I apologize that there is no longer any Background tunes but YouTube has closed down my source of the tunes, and I can’t find anywhere else they are. So if you know where there are any, tell me and I’ll check it out

Episode 04 – The Examination (Part 1)

Episode 04 – The Examination (Part 1)

Sakura, Naruto and Kakashi (from left to right) were standing in a line in the Hokage’s office opposite Jiraiya and Tsunade, who are sitting on the windowsill and in the leather chair (respectively); Sakura was looking down slightly depressed at the fact Suteibu made her feel inadequate in their fight, Naruto was looking away angrily about how Suteibu not only treated him in the fight but also how he treated Sakura, Kakashi looked as calm as always, Jiraiya looked at Sakura and Naruto quizzically, and Tsunade looked concerned about not only Suteibu and his challenge, but also the situation with him.

“So, what should we do now, Hokage?” Kakashi questioned as the attention of everyone in the room shot to him. Tsunade glared at Kakashi, Naruto and Sakura in turn, considering Suteibu’s proposal.

*Flashback*...“You cannot be serious Suteibu?” asked Jiraiya forcefully as he stepped in front of Tsunade’s desk. “I’m dead serious Jiraiya. You must realise that Akatsuki are a definite threat and Kakashi will not be enough to hold off any attack that they launch forever in pursuit of that accursed fox” said Suteibu calmly, without doubt in the validity of his words. Jiraiya began to show a rare sign of anger on his face, which astonished Tsunade slightly.

“I don’t think you understand just how strong Naruto has become due to my tutelage. He can take...”.

“I’m not speaking of just pure strength. Naruto lacks the pure killer instinct that an S-Class has. Not to mention he allows his anger to get the better of him so easily, that he is basically submitting to the Fox’s animal ways and a Shinobi cannot allow his emotions to judge his actions ever you should know that better than anyone, Jiraiya” he said viciously, with some malice in his voice. Jiraiya stared down, submitting to the truth that Suteibu was speaking...*End*

“Lady Tsunade, are you okay?” asked Sakura worryingly. Tsunade looked up suddenly and saw the worry on the faces of Kakashi, Naruto and Sakura. “I’m fine. Just thinking.” she said softly. “Kakashi, you are to lead Sakura and Naruto to the Training Grounds where you will meet Suteibu’s challenge immediately” she ordered. They all nodded and rushed out of the door as Tsunade looked over at Jiraiya and he looked back.

“You made the right choice, Tsunade. He needs to know how good they are” said Jiraiya reassuringly as he placed his hand on her shoulder. Just then, Shizune knocked the door and walked in with Shikimaru, Neji and Lee in tow. “Lady Tsunade, I’ve brought them to you as you ordered” said Shizune softly and calmly. Neji; calmly standing upright with arms loosely hanging by his sides, Shikimaru; slouching with his hands in his pockets, and Lee; tensely standing upright with arms stiffly by his sides, stood in a line in front of the Hokage’s desk.

“Lee... Shikimaru... Neji... You’ve heard that Suteibu has return to the village, yes?” asked Tsunade and all three nodded obediently in turn (from Lee to Neji). “Well then, you three should go to the 3rd Training Grounds and watch him fight Team 7, you may learn something new” said Tsunade as she stood up and began to walking towards the door with Shizune and Jiraiya following just behind her. Neji followed behind Jiraiya without protest as Shikimaru watched them leave.

“Shikimaru... Who is Suteibu?” asked Lee curiously, with a confusing look in his eyes. Shikimaru looked at him, intrigued by the thought that Lee didn’t know him; he thought that all ninja in the Leaf Village knew Suteibu (even though he preferred to stay under the radar as much as possible). Shikimaru put his hand in his vest pocket, took out a toothpick and placed it in his mouth before putting his hands back in the pockets of his pants.

“Suteibu is a highly talented, dangerous and revered Shinobi of the Leaf Village, with the ability and potential to become the Greatest Shinobi in history...” said a male wispy voice just as Shikimaru was about to speak. Both Shikimaru and Lee turned sharply and saw a man in long flowing robes sitting in the Hokage’s chair with his feet up on the desk, reading the Hokage’s tome of notes about all the Shinobi in the village. “The Greatest Shinobi in history? That’s a bit of an over-exaggeration, don’t you think?” asked the robed man to Shikimaru and Lee.

Meanwhile in a cave far away from the Leaf Village on top of a high platform, Orochimaru was sitting on a throne with Kabuto standing by his side staring down a set of stairs at a strange ninja kneeling and bowing his head. “Kabuto, tell this hopeful what is needed of him” said Orochimaru with his usual level of devilish resentment. Kabuto bowed his head and began walking down the stairs towards the ninja; he readjusted his glasses with his middle finger while on the move.

*Hmm... I wonder why Lord Orochimaru would place his trust in such a young fool. Sure he’s talented, but he’s so fool hardy and refuses to quit, even when he’s obviously outmatched. That will become a real burden to Lord Orochimaru* thought Kabuto as he was slowly reaching the young ninja. “Ok kid, this is what you are to do: You are to find this Gem in the Leaf Village* said Kabuto forcefully as he handed him a picture of a red prism. The ninja nodded and sped away hesitantless, while he stuffed the paper into his pocket.

Back in Leaf Village, Team 7 were just arriving at the Training Grounds and they began walking as they saw the three wooden logs and felt nostalgic about their times as a team 3 years ago. Suddenly 3 shuriken flew at Kakashi quickly; charging through the air as if unrestricted by the air. Kakashi was only able to dodge at the last second and the 3 shuriken struck the ground and melted away like ice in the heat. Sakura and Naruto watched as it happened with eyes widened, confused at the melting shuriken while Kakashi looked around for the source of the shuriken.

“The shuriken melted away... Is this a Genjutsu?” Naruto asked Sakura as he touched her on the shoulder. Sakura looked over at Kakashi, acknowledging her lack of understanding of the situation. Naruto looked over as well to see Kakashi with Sharingan now revealed. “No. This isn't a Genjutsu, that’s just his powers” said Kakashi with a slight quiver in his voice as he looked down at the ground, seemingly depressed about the condition. Then, the ground began to rumble as a huge wooden log grew out of the ground behind the other three and atop of the log was Suteibu; he was sitting in a meditative position on a log which was wide enough for him to fit on comfortably.

“I’m so glad that the 3 of you have come to meet me here. Kakashi you can sit this out if you wish... I’m not your credentials as a Ninja that I’m testing. I only need to see if these two little children actually have the skills to face-off against the people we are inevitably going to encounter as they try to return Sasuke to the village” shouted Suteibu from the top of the log without leaving his meditative seating. “However, maybe you should fight alongside them Kakashi. After all... I don’t want to embarrassed them that badly” said Suteibu cockily as he folded his arms (while still sitting) and stared at Naruto and Sakura with his silvery, cold as ice eyes.

Suddenly, the pillar began to collapse as Sakura punched through the pillar with massive force, and Suteibu still sat on the top of the pillar calmly. Soon after falling for a while, Suteibu scrambled from the sitting point to the centre of the pillar and took a knee with him placing his hand on the pillar. Immediately after a small grunt, the pillar split apart into wooden spikes and were launched at all of Team 7. The shards showered over them all; Kakashi forced Naruto to retreat back into the forest to protect themselves but Sakura had nowhere to go from the rain of spikes, instead she crouched into a foetal position to protect herself as much as possible. Just after the shower finished, Suteibu landed softly on the ground just behind Sakura’s butt.

Sakura left her foetal position and looked up for Suteibu but couldn’t find him. She eventually (but slowly) stood up to get a better look around, but then her eyes widened and she shook (slightly in fear) as she felt Suteibu’s hand on her shoulder and his lips near her ear. She shifted her eyes slowly to her right hand side, and saw Suteibu with a small smile on his face (eyes closed). “Do I scare you, sweet thing?” asked Suteibu softly. All of a sudden, Suteibu kissed her on the ear delicately and vanished with the wind as Kakashi and Naruto ran out of the forest to help her...

Sorry it's been a long time coming, but I've had major trouble writing recently. But now it's back, and I hope that it will continue to bring you high quality stories (at least) weekly.

Episode 05 – The Examination (Part 2)

Episode 05 – The Examination (Part 2)

Sakura stood in the clearing looking down at the ground with wide eyes, as Naruto and Kakashi stood next to her. She raised her hand up to her ear and blushed. Suddenly as Kakashi placed his hand on Sakura’s shoulder, the air around the three began to freeze. Hmm... Suteibu? thought Kakashi as he felt the winter chill in the air. Slowly he looked around the area trying to catch a glimpse of Suteibu, believing him the source. Throughout all this, Naruto continued to look concerned at Sakura who had not moved since Suteibu had his hand on her shoulder; she was still quivering and blushing after the encounter with Suteibu (which had occurred about 3 minutes ago). Suddenly, a hand reached out of the ground and grabbed Kakashi around the right ankle, and began dragging his right leg down trapping it in place.

“He snuck up on us that easily. Sakura punch the ground and split it open. Find him” Kakashi ordered. Sakura pushed her arm back and was about to swing forward before her arm was caught by Suteibu. Sakura instinctively swung her opposite arm at him in an attempt to hit him, but it was in vain as Suteibu moved his head slightly to one side and dodged the punch effortlessly. “Do you really expect something that simple to hit me?” asked Suteibu angrily, as if he was hoping for more of a challenge. Suddenly, he grabbed Sakura’s other arm, lifted her up and flung her at a charging Naruto who had rush irrationally to safe Sakura. Sakura’s body hit Naruto hard and both flew into Kakashi (pulling him out of the ground) and three flew until hitting the ground only a couple of meters away from the forest edge. “I hope you intend on doing better than this disjointed play you are doing at the moment, otherwise you won’t stand any chance of rescuing Sasuke” shouted Suteibu, and as he did it tweaked Sakura and Naruto making them act more seriously.

Meanwhile, in the Land of Sound Sasuke was meditating in the middle of a square area surrounded on all sides by simplistic jail cells (a dozen on each side); only strong, sturdy cadmium-galvanized steel bars made up these cells as the walls of each cell was made up of the natural stone formations. Orochimaru, Kabuto and another ninja walked into the area and stopped at a balcony barrier overlooking Sasuke and the captives. Sasuke opened his eyes and looked up at the three; Orochimaru and Kabuto were standing there with smirks on their faces while the other ninja looked uninterested and sombre. “So Sasuke... are you ready to begin” said Kabuto with his usual smugness. Sasuke closed his eyes again, and began to grow inpatient “Let’s just get on with this, chikushoume!” he said sharply.

Kabuto squinted his eyes angrily as Orochimaru’s smile faded slightly and he looked sharply to his side, and he saw a strange figure standing on the ledge watching Sasuke also. Sasuke looked up again and saw the second man, but as his eyes caught a gaze of him Sasuke grabbed his body as he began to suffer massive pain all over his body (especially in his head), as if his very essence was being drawn out of him through his eyes.

Elsewhere, Itachi and Kisame were sitting on a rock eating some meat buns and drinking Jasmine Tea. “Itachi... do you feel that pressure?” asked Kisame as the air around them grew thicker and heavier. Itachi stood up quickly “We’re going Kisame, into the forest” he said as he began to rush towards the forest, with Kisame quickly in tow. Itachi and Kisame charged through the forest “Itachi... what are we running from?” asked Kisame as he looked confused at Itachi. Itachi said nothing, he continued to charge through the forest with Kisame, changing directions as if to throw a pursuer off of their trails.

Soon, they reached an exit from the forest and stopped in their tracks... They nearly shot over the edge into a huge gorge, whose bottom was not visible from the height of the forest. “Cornered... not good” said Itachi softly as he looked into the gorge and then back into the dense, dark forest as Kisame looked all around for a way to go. Suddenly... they saw a human form walking out of the darkness of the forest and out of the blue a strange pressure knocked them off their feet and into the gorge behind them.

Back at the Training Grounds Suteibu (with arms folded) was standing in the centre of the open area while Sakura, Naruto and Kakashi were hiding in the forest (now with headsets). “~Kakashi-sensei, we need to come up with a plan of attack~” said Sakura over the headset “~we can’t just charge in headstrong and fight him alone and expect to win~” she continued to speak as Kakashi and Naruto listened intently. Suteibu stood there patiently and stared into the forest, knowing that they were scheming to face him. *Man... They’re taking a long time* thought Suteibu as he began to pace around impatiently. “Are you going to stay in that forest all day? I’m getting bored of waiting” he shouted arrogantly as he put his hands in his pockets and continued to pace around nonchalantly.

“~Who is this guy? How does he know about us so much?~” asked Naruto inquisitively as he slowly made a move towards the front of the forest (closest point to Suteibu). As Naruto, Sakura and Kakashi all continued to reach specifically designated spots just at the edge of the forest, they all continued to go over the plan in their heads each worrying about their part in the plan to varying degrees. “~Are you both in place?~” requested Kakashi as he reached his spot and concealed his position as much as possible. Sakura reached her point shortly after “~I’m ready~” she responded while concealing herself, and Naruto followed suit shortly after that too and responded in similar fashion. “~Ok... We go...Now!~” he ordered.

Suddenly, Naruto and Kakashi jumped from their hiding spots; Naruto rushing at Suteibu with a full head of steam while Kakashi stood back and performed handsigns at blistering speed. Suteibu unfolded his arms and watched the two enact the plan “It’s about time! I was starting to get bored” shouted Suteibu as he prepped himself to fight (crouched down with left arm held behind him as if ready to punch), yet didn’t take his eyes off of Kakashi. Naruto came within range and jumped (ready to punch Suteibu), but just before he made contact Suteibu thrusted his left fist and struck Naruto in the face. Just then Naruto exploded into smoke... *Shadow Clone* thought Suteibu calmly as he waited for Naruto to attack throught the smoke of the clone. Suddenly, Naruto appeared out of nowhere facing Suteibu’s left side (facing towards Kakashi); “RASENGAN!” shouted Naruto as he thrusted the orb at Suteibu’s side and sent Suteibu spiralling away with vicious force.

Suteibu was struck with the Rasengan and sent flying away, bouncing along the ground towards Kakaski. “Fire Style: Grand Fireball Jutsu” shouted Kakashi as he put his fingers to his lips and blew fire out of his mouth at Suteibu, engulfing him in searing flames. Suddenly, out of the fire Suteibu thrusted a black Katana at Kakashi’s Sharingan eye, with the sword’s sharp edges dispersing the flames around Suteibu and into the forest surrounding. Just as Suteibu thrusted his sword completely forward, Kakashi moved quickly to dodge the attack and flipped away in the direction of Naruto. Suddenly Sakura rushed out of the forest away from the fire, and ran into Kakashi; she stumbled slightly as she bounced off of Kakashi (who didn’t budge an inch) and before she could reset herself, Suteibu appeared in front of her and began to slash his sword at her and none could do anything to prevent him from slashing his sword through her.

Just as Suteibu slashed the sword... he stopped the sword about an inch away from her chest, stood up to a vertical base and looked over towards the other side of the forest just as a strange winter chill seemed to grip the training grounds. “Hey guys... do you feel..?” he began to ask, before being stopped by Kakashi as Kakashi looked at Suteibu as he walked away from the three towards a strange diamond shaped ice sculpture sticking out of the ground. Suteibu walked over towards it and stopped about 6 feet away from it while Kakashi, Sakura and Naruto stared on confused. “SO... IS THIS THE RAVENOUS BEAST FROM WITHIN?!” he exclaimed, aiming nowhere in particular.

Meanwhile in Orochimaru’s hideout, Kabuto was healing Sasuke (who was laid out on the floor) while Orochimaru and the unknown ninja ware standing there talking. “Matto... Go to the Leaf Village and eliminate Suteibu. It is pivotal to my plan that Suteibu does not interfere” ordered Orochimaru as he looked over at Kabuto and Sasuke. Without saying a word, Matto nodded and rushed away towards the Leaf Village...

Episode 06 – The Repeat Skirmish

Episode 06 – The Repeat Skirmish

Suteibu walked over towards the giant diamond-shaped sculpture. “SO... IS THIS THE RAVENOUS BEAST FROM WITHIN?!” he exclaimed, aiming nowhere in particular. A deafening silence consumed the area as nothing happened *Could it be? No, he’s dead. We saw him die* thought Sakura as she thought of the last person she knows who used ice. Suddenly a woman flew out of woods at high speed just to the right of Suteibu (back first), and as if it was nothing at all Suteibu just stood there smirking with arms folded. Naruto unhesitantly charged towards her preparing to catch her... yet just as she was about to pass by Suteibu he put his right arm up (elbow bent at a right angle) and held her around the waist with one arm effortlessly while forcing his elbow backwards and driving it into Naruto’s face, sending him bouncing backwards landing with head in between Sakura’s legs. Sakura bent down to see if Naruto was ok while Kakashi stood guard, worried that Suteibu or this mystery woman would attack them while they were distracted.

Suteibu put the woman down on the ground and suddenly (before he could say anything) out of the forest came a stream of white powder at Suteibu. Suteibu grabbed her around the waist again and sidestepped allowing the powder to fly past him and aim at Kakashi now. “Look out!” he shouted to get Sakura and Naruto to look up, but it was too late t dodge it was the powder instantly opening out (like a blanket) and smothered Kakashi, Naruto and Sakura, covering them a huge pile of powder. Just then, the powder shot up at Suteibu and the woman like bullets forcing a quick and sloppy dodge to avoid heavy impact which became the attacker’s chance to charge out of the forest and jump to attack Suteibu from above. However, before he could connect with an attack Suteibu lifted his foot (with straight leg) and held the attacker back with his foot.

“Hello again, Aisu” he said smugly just as he drew his sword (which was on his back) and swung it at Aisu... however Aisu forced his body forward (forcing Suteibu’s knee to bend) ever so slightly and grabbed Suteibu by the wrist, preventing him from swinging the sword and even preventing him from releasing the sword from his hand. They stayed in that position for only a couple of seconds before Suteibu lifted his other leg up, bent both knees and threw him away (releasing Aisu’s grip on his wrist), allowing him to flip up onto his feet and charge at Aisu. Aisu in response drew his own Katana and the two stalwart ninjas clashed swords, and all the while the ice of the sculpture was spreading even further.

While this was happening the woman ran over to the pile of powder and placed her hand on its surface and ran her hand across it. *Snow* she thought softly before standing up and making some hand signs. “Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!” she shouted as she launched a massive stream of fire from her mouth at the mound of snow, and began to melt it away. *I need to burn it away carefully, I don’t want to hit any of them* she thought as she carefully melted the snow away *Man... This snow is so unusual. It doesn’t usually take this much heat to melt it away* as the pile of snow melted unusually slowly. Suddenly a similar blast of fire came out from underneath the pile of snow, freeing the three Leaf Shinobi from under the snow. Kakashi looked up and saw the woman standing over them, yet could see in her eyes that she was not a threat to them and reassured Sakura and Naruto about that fact while helping Sakura up.

The woman watched as he helped her up “Surprising. I thought there were no more Chivalrous men like you around anymore” she said as she watched Suteibu and Aisu’s swordfight a little in the distance. “Enough with the spreading ice” she said as she pulled out a whip from within her long boots. She violently whipped the ground and it began to shake violently “I suggest you three stay close to me” she said gently (almost motherly) as she appeared just behind Sakura (in front of Kakashi and Naruto) and the ground was now shaking more violently. Suddenly massive geysers of magma shot out of the ground and began spreading over the ice, melting it instantly. As it reached the four, it seemed to hit a barrier and divert away the group safely (as well as the village) and Jiraiya, Shizune, Tsunade, Shikimaru, Lee and Neji all were encased in the Flame Toad’s stomach Jutsu of Jiraiya (thus safe); however the same could not be said for Suteibu and Aisu, who were completely exposed to the molten lava.

They continued to fight unfazed by the lava flowing at them, more concerned with fighting each other than to protect themselves. Suddenly, they separated apart and they stared each other down “Man that’s was overdoing it! OH well, so how should we deal with that threat?” Suteibu asked as he pointed at the lava slowly making its way towards the two of them. Aisu pointed his sword towards the lava “Set upon the frosted heavens... Hyorinmaru” he said softly and just as he did his sword’s hilt turned into a 4 point star and launched an ice dragon out of the blade. The dragon struck the lava and froze it almost instantaneously, even preventing further magma release. Everyone stared at the feat in awe excluding Suteibu as the ice field was formed over the magma before the ice dragon turned and began to wrap itself around Aisu. “What now, Suteibu? How will you combat Hyorinmaru?” he asked almost smugly as the dragon began to circle around Aisu getting longer and longer, creating a wall of ice around him.

Suddenly without warning the snow beside the group of 4 and launched at Suteibu *Dodge this* Aisu thought as he split the stream into two separate bursts coming from 2 sides of Suteibu. Suteibu jumped in the air at the last second and the two streams of snow crashed into each other, yet just then Aisu launched Hyorinmaru at Suteibu who, since he was in the air, was defenceless to stop the strike. Hyorinmaru crashed into Suteibu and slammed him into the floor, while everyone in attendance stared on it awe and fear. Suteibu flipped up quickly (seemingly unfazed by the attack) almost ready to counterattack Aisu, yet before he could charge at Aisu, Aisu caught Suteibu around the ankle by some snow and flung him into the air before launching Hyorinmaru at him again; this time slamming him onto the massive ice field he had made using Hyorinmaru’s power.

Quickly Aisu thrusted his sword into the ground and clasped his hands together and closed his eyes (focusing), before opening his eyes and opening his fingers out “RAGING WOLF BITE!!!” he shouted as he pushed his clasped (fingers open) towards Suteibu and the ice field. Suddenly, massive spikes came shooting out of the ice (in the same shape as Aisu’s hands), piercing Suteibu through almost every part of his body. All the spectators stared on in disbelief at the ability of Aisu and at Suteibu’s death; the woman fell to her knees (as did Sakura) and began to cry, distraught at Suteibu’s death by the wolf bite. *It can’t be... he can’t have died. It’s just not possible, Aisu couldn’t be holding back that much when I saw him last* she thought woefully while tears rolled down her face. Enraged and without warning (giving Kakashi no chance to stop her) the woman charged over the ice field towards Aisu; he eyes looked almost devilish and she could think of nothing but her wish to annihilate Aisu for what he had done.

Aisu stood nonchalantly as she charged at him, appearing unimpressed by the threat of her; instead of waiting for her, he clasped his hands together again and focused (for less time than he did against Suteibu). Then he thrusted his hands and opened his eyes “RAGING WOLF BI...” he was cut off mid sentence by Suteibu leaping in out of nowhere, grabbing her around the waist and leaping off of the ice field and out of harms way. “Aisu... attacking a beautiful and lets face it, pitiful excuse of a fighter like her is inexcusable. What possible reason could you have for using the wolf bite on her?” shouted Suteibu defensively. Just after he finished talking Aisu exploded, releasing ice and propelling it at Suteibu, Sakura, Kakashi, Naruto and the mystery woman.

“Move!” ordered Kakashi. Just before anyone moved to try and avoid the ice “Don’t Move. It won’t help” he said calmly as he closed his eyes and clasped his hands together (similar to Aisu) as the Ice Field itself became engulfed by the explosive wave and began to become icy shrapnel of its own. “Trust me; it’ll be a lot safer for you if you stay where you are. I can’t be sure that you won’t be hit by what’s coming next if you move away now” said Suteibu ominously as he continued to concentrate and the ice drove even closer. Suddenly he unclasped his hands and pointed his right hand towards the ice (fingers pointed forward, with small opening between fingers and thumb). "Darkness Pulse" he said calmly as a stream of black energy burst out from his hand and destroyed all the ice (causing large clouds of steam to be released). As the steam vanished away, Aisu was nowhere to be seen...
