One duel and now everythings back to being boring again. I always see the good stuff but i'm never part of it." he turned a corner narrowly avoiding a passing car that honked at him. In a flash a small black hole opened up and sucked in the three trucks and most of a nerby building. "Mission cleared" he said it to noone in particular. He limped back to his Runner and went home' date='"I need a coffee"[/quote'][spoiler=my reaction upon reading] IC: Present Day"BLACK HOLE WHAT?!"When Gaichus had returned to the HQ, he had had a subordinate check the history texts. They had said not that Communism had taken hold of both Koreas, initiating the domino effect (as had been intended), but instead the pivotal point in the war was when the Korean and Chinese troops were demoralized after a huge weapon shipment was destroyed by what appeared to be a black hole. Needless to say, Gaichus was furious. What were those idiots thinking, STAYING?! Watching the duel?! He procured his toga and various other costumed items. Her amusement was short-lived when Gaichu's angry-sounding demand of 'what happened'? came through. She tilted her head. She had essentially won that duel and her opponent was unconscious. Didn't that count as a success? Or, at least she'd have thought knocking her opponent unconscious was sufficient stalling! "Er...I did stall them," she said nervously. "I all but won the duel, and he passed out after Infernity Death Dragon took out his best monster." She giggled at the memory, but then hesitated. "Um...what was I stalling them from doing? You were already gone..." A slight sinking feeling hit her stomach. If the duel wasn't to keep them from Gaichus, was there something else she was supposed to make sure of before leaving? Did they, or did they not, leave the area after I did?" It could be possible that he had gotten the wrong trucks, and that Gaichus had left too soon. Only Kai could tell at this point. "Hey, ain't that....?" he pulled over to a nearby building and tried to overhear what she was saying. He managed to catch a few words. "Stall us? And who is she talking to?" he wondered. She remembered there being trucks of some sort in the background during her duel, but by the time the duel ended, they had slipped her mind. "Er...I remember there were trucks parked nearby during the duel. I don't know if they left after me, but they were still there. But shouldn't there have been people with the trucks if those were the ones?" her voice was timidly apologetic, like a child caught coloring on the walls. "If I messed up, what should I do to make up for it?" she asked, shifting her weight from leg to leg. Silly her for thinking the job had been done just by triumphing in a duel. She should have asked for better instructions or double checked with him before leaving the scene. But...how could she have known they were after the trucks? Gaichus had said her opponent was after him. And by dueling him, she had given Gaichus the chance to get away and prepare for his next course of action, whatever that one was. The higher-ups had "suggested" that he get the weapons and take the trip. They hadn't factored much, and even Gaichus' touches didn't help the overall plan much (as the overall plan was pretty much crap.) He changed his tone to something a little more soothing."It's okay. Not only did it seem she was off the hook for the mishap, but it sounded like Gaichus was going to give her a new assignment, which was good for more field experience. And this time, more thorough instructions. She giggled and ended the communication. She brushed the hair from her face and looked around quickly. Seeing no one, she took out a small device from her pocket. The Yliaster member that had sent her to Gaichus had told her that the device was set to create a time portal back to the HQ and that she was to use it only once. She trailed her thumb over the button and clicked it, creating a portal in front of her. With one final glance around, she jumped into the portal, playfully curling her body into a cannonball before the portal sealed shut behind her. Mostly with himself, he knew to some degree the threat Overdrive was and he still risked everything. It had never been that violent when Overdrive got toasted. What was differant this time. Thankfully Kai was inexpearianced or else she would have made sure those trucks rolled out. "Infernities,"He hissed. "God I hate them, but they won't be such a problem anymore." Recteik sat back in his chair. The Park in Neo Domino was beautiful in early summer but, it wasn't calming him down any. He glanced at the street and noticed Spiridon heading in the direction of Tempus Corp. HQ. The looked as distant as he always seemed to be lost in his memories. He had read about what happened to the boy, horible thing to happen to a child. Shrugging off the resent events he walked over to his Runner and went to HQ. In fact, he seemed like a well-to-do citizen of the great city-state of Rome. As Kai popped into his office, he handed her a bundle. In it was the standard woman's garb of the same style and class level."Change into this" he said, gesturing to a small antechamber door. "You'll need it for the next mission. She grinned at the thought. The veil on her head seemed a tad bit like overkill, but the look wasn't bad. "Is all this necessary?" she asked, giggling, gesturing to her new outfit. "Is there anything I would need to do, or not do, to play the part better? Certain customs I need to know?" she asked sweetly. She curled a lock of her hair around one finger as she spoke, her eyes glinting with excitement. If her limited memory of history held true, the age difference between the two of them would be unnoticed, yet she wasn't sure if Rome was one of the societies that insisted that wives more or less shut up and be invisible.
