Guest JoshIcy
Rep Abuse NotificationI would like to point out that due to a user, who unintentionally told me of what was going on here. I have locked numerous threads on the first page. Without warning. In particular, those that abuse reps by offering consolation prizes. This is a direct violation of the General Forum Rules, as well as Local Rules. And is to be locked on sight. Without question. One of few rules that do so. Please do not offer any reps as a consolation prize, even if it does not exceed the normal 3 rep limit for 1 on 1 Contests. Thank you and Don't Do it Again. Bassa
Good idea Icy, but why aren't we allowed to give consolation prizes?
Flash Flyer - Sakura
I think Icy believes that it is abusing the rep system, though in my honest opinion, I think it's good manners to give your opponent a rep.
Milk-Chan
Yeah, I know I'm not around as much as once before, but when I was, I came here a lot. When I would do a 1 on 1, I would always or usually have a consolation rep, seeing as I appreciate my opponent and such. However, now that I looked over the rules again, it DOES say that there can only be a maximum of 3 in a contest.Despite this, I fail to see why consolation wouldn't be acceptable in a match where the winner gets 1 or 2, and the loser gets 1. Care to explain where this may be a problem?
Guest Ixigo
What I fail to see is why a "consolation" prize couldn't be given outside the context of the contest, if you are so diligent on rewarding your opponent, and why / if there would be an issue with that. .Leo
What the rules state and what this message is saying you cannot give Positive Reps as a Constaltion prize. No where in the rules say Points are invalid. The thing is, I expected this coming. Dark Mousy has been taking over 1 on 1 Contests. With is Rule in "The Organization" you cannot give a constalation prize. Obiviously we can expect Dark Mousy behind this in his quest for Contest Glory. Then again it could be another mod trying to make things better ;D All in all I agree with this rule but the way it came by could br iffy.

Guest JoshIcy
Consolation Reps can be given in quiet (as I see no harm, you yourself are being respectful). But to make it a requirement is defeating the purpose of that. If you understand me...
Flash Flyer - Sakura
So what you're saying is that we can't put it in the contest but if you feel generous enough to give them one, then it's ok?

ihop
I agree completely. There's absolutely no point in holding a contest if everyone's going to have a prize. Also, some people do that for a win-win situation, if they win, they get reps, if they lose, they still get reps.Well done, Icy. Guest Welche
Sorry, I think that I started this ages ago. I do realize that it is not fair to some people because you can just create a contest for a free rep.

JG.
Pointless rule. Even more pointless than the one saying that you must have more than 150 posts. EDIT: Wrong choice of words. Make that stupid rule.

I find it quite useful actually, but I wish we could give more Reps as a prize for a final round of a series of 1 on 1s (Which I did a series against Chaos Zero while keeping it 3 Rep a round). Lover Bat
i cant agree with icy, it's not bad to give people reps if they lose. It's just being nice. so i dont see the harm. the winner is happy and the loser might be happy too. a win-win isn't bad. it just makes people happier that thier reputation is higher and they might make more friends.
