It's alright, but nowhere near epic.

First problem I have this sprite is the shading. Things can't just have the shade shading curve that goes across the entire being. The pattern is noticeable and isn't very realistic. Different materials and shapes have different styles of shading. Another tip to maybe try is to actually lower the number of shades you have, and just use a large contrast between a couple of shades. A lot of sprites don't use more than 4 or 5 shades per color. The whole gradient look from a bunch of colors isn't the best way to shade.

The comments about the hair I have to agree on also. It goes too far out to the sides, and looks fairly unnatural. Hair in general in the spriting world usually has a different style of shading and drawing. One common thing hair has between sprites is a lack of a thick border. Hair being such a fine material really doesn't need a thick dark outline in a lot of cases. Some areas it needs some too though, the balance of where to put it isn't always easy.

Depending on style, I can understand maybe some of the misproportions and lack of proper anatomy. Yet I've been yelled at before by some very high skilled spriters that style and such are not an excuse for lack of anatomy and proportions in some regards. The tiny twig arms are weird, the tiny boring feet are weird. The simple round head is also nothing gran or anything. An anatomy style like this also is sort of is like a stick figure, simple and non impressive.

General concept of the whole thing is very plain too. A guy in a red shirt, blue pants, in a boring static pose has to 'wow' factor.
