PITCH! (Writing Contest / No Longer Accepting)

You are an aspiring mangaka who’s in desperate need of a job. Quite luckily, a major magazine has offered a “contest,” so to speak, to find talent in the field. They’re giving you a story idea, and you must pitch the first chapter for them. Whosever pitch they find to be the best will get hired, with fame and fortune certainly awaiting. So, what are you waiting for?

 

Now that the theatrics are out of the way, I’ll introduce just how this contest is going to work. You’ll enter by filling out the following form with a potential pitch for a story, keeping in mind the atmosphere of what you're applying to. (It's a manga magazine, after all.) Once the entrants have been confirmed, I’ll randomize these entries and distribute them to each contestant. You then will have 2 weeks to write the first chapter of that story. At the end of those 2 weeks, me and a few others will review the stories, and choose 1 winner, who will receive a nice prize of some sort.

 

Entries will be accepted until we have 10 contestants, or until January 12, 2010. After that, no more. Also, you cannot enter as a contestant if you are judging.

[spoiler=[u]Contest Rules[/u]]1) The deadline for accepted entries is 12:00 PM EST, January 15, 2010. Anything posted after this time will not be accepted, and anyone who hasn’t posted their chapter by this time will be disqualified.

2) I hope this is obvious enough, but English spelling and grammar count. It’d be advised to type your chapter on MS Word and use the spellchecker to catch mistakes.

3) You must stick to the canon established in the original pitch. For example, if the main character is named Bob, you can’t go naming him Joe. It has to be Bob. This will be a factor in the overall grade.

4) There is no maximum or minimum length to your chapter. However, I advise you set it at a length that would be considered “standard.” Anything over-the-top or too short might dissuade potential readers.

5) Be creative. You can and should expand off of what the original pitch gave you.

6) When your chapter is complete, please post it here on this thread.

7) If the person who wrote the pitch you were assigned drops out, that does not affect you in the least.

As one of his plans, he sends a robotic bug to go and poison Mina. It malfunctioned hard. Giving him electric powers, which passed on to Serenity.™

There, they learns of a possible escape to Greece. Can they escape? Or will they face the firing squad?

Short Pitch/Summary: When Blake Hutso, a 21 year old football enthusiast from the slums of Tokyo gets picked to play in the BOTN(Back Of The Net) Super League, an alien football league on another planet, the world takes a turn for the worse. Cue a Yu-gi-oh like game, where the injuries are real. If you die, or even get tackled during the game, there are no yellow cards. Then, the gruesome reality sets in as the Head of the League gets murdered and Blake’s best friend in the team, Rocket, is framed for it and executed.

He survived through it and upon falling asleep in that world, he woke up in his own, learning that he had in fact been missing for a day. Living life is hard when you exist between two planes of reality.

Short Pitch/Summary: There is a man of 22, named Allister, who lived his life in solitude. He never left his house except to buy more food, and even then he would buy enough food for weeks. One night in his sleep, he dremt of a possible future of his if he kept living this way. In shock, he left his house immediately, to find himself several decades in the future. Now he has to decide. Go home? Stay here? If he chooses to go home, how? His experiences will influense his decisions, and all the new technology is overwhelming. What will he choose and what will he do?
