So.. What is overrated exactly?

Well, my good friend and I had a nice chat today at his place, while playing MW2.

The discussion was about overrated games. I stated ODST, he agree'd. I then took a shot at the game we were playing, MW2. Now, my friend loves the CoD series, so naturally he paused the game, gave me a glare, and asked why.

I told him that the game lacks some great Gameplay features that other games have, and the BS hitbox.

I told him stuff like, "I don't see how three pistol shots in the foot kills someone instantly." Etc. I also went on about how you couldn't cover properly like in GoW, Rainbow, MGS, Uncharted, etc.

I then said something else.

"Okay, let's say that two games are coming out on the same day. CoD -insert number here- and Uncharted -insert number here-. Now, which game would get more hype? Uncharted, or CoD?"

So now, YCM, I ask you the same question, and want to discuss overrated games with you.

Gogogogogogo.

In my opinion, there isn't really such a thing as overrated. You see, whether or not something is overrated all stems down to what one believes of something and what one believes of other people's beliefs of that same thing. For example, if every one went gaga for a game such as Pac-Man, but then someone else thought Pac-Man sucked, that person would be inclined to believe that Pac-Man is overrated because everyone else likes it, but that person does not. But seeing as how whether or not something is overrated is all based on an opinion of people's opinion, overratedness itself is nothing more than an opinion. There is no true way to judge whether or not a game is overrated. It all boils down to whether you like it as much as everyone else does.

This really sums it up.

However, their is such a thing as overhyped since a game can have loads of it but when it comes out it isn't that good/as good as past games in the series.

Ah, but see here, young Jewish Ewok. It is all up to the individual person to decide whether, in their opinion, the game IS that good or IS as good as past games in the series. :D

Yes, but I'm talking about the general word on the game.

When a game has a lot a build up only to have most people not like it it would be overhyped.

No, that's called "it's generally considered to be overhyped."

Easier? Yes. Necessarily correct? Not quite.

Three shots =/= instant.

I'm sure it has a mode that makes it realistic damage.

Maybe it was a pistol that shoots nuclear warheads?

That was my point. I don't see how 3 shots equals instant death. Which is apparently possible in MW2.

*looks up from armchair by fire*

Back in my day, you could die in one shot from the golden gun in double-oh-seven golden eye.

Even if you actually got the fabled golden gun, you had to walk uphill both ways in the snow to find your friend and shoot him once in the head.

And you're complaining about three shots?

POPPYCOCK!

I still prefered using Oddjob's Bowler Hat in Nightfire.
