Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry [Advanced/Started/Accepting by PM]

"Nothing much, we just got here in time for the sorting!" Alyssa said, pointing with her wand to the line of first years just entering after Ms. TA. She accidentally sent out a volley of red sparks from waving her wand, and everyone stared. She put it away, embarassed.

 

OoC: ms TA is what we call the transfiguration, such as we call the DADA teacher Ms/Mr DADA, Herbology: Ms HB, and Ms TA is currently the headmistress.

Joshua smiled. It was always fun watching the first years get sorted. Almost as much fun as watching, and fixing, Alyssa's little mistakes. He pulled out his wand, and waved it. The sparks vanished before they could do any real harm. "So, what little tykes you think we'll get in Gryffindor?" he asked, watching Ms. TA place the hat on a kid.

"Well, Alex and I hope that we'll get a good number of kids, because we need a new keeper. The old one's just graduated." she blushed from her slip-up. "But I told her that first years hardly ever make the team, so it wouldn't make a difference. You're a good chaser!" She blurted out but then stopped and blushed again. Was she flirting with him? Whoa, but she was way too young. Two years younger. She immediately backed off. "So what do you think?"

Joshua smiled, ignoring her little slip-up for now. "I don't know," he said. "There's always a small chance we get a keeper that's a first year." He looked towards the hat. "After all, that boy Harry Potter was a first year, and he got on the team, as a seeker to boot!" He laughed, and smiled back at Alyssa. Why am I smiling at Alyssa so much? Aye aye aye, I've got to stop this.

Candice was silent for a second, she was thinking more about Joshua than the ceramony.

"Oh, I dunno, we're hoping for somone quick, a keeper. the tam needs it, but the odds of it happening are slim to none, only two first-years have even been on the school's quiditch teams."

Candice really did want a new keeper for the team, but it was truely the last thing on her mind at this moment. Had anyone bare Joshua posed the question, she would have completely ignored it.

Candice noticed Joshua's expression toward's Alissa.

"She's too young for him." She re-assured herself.

A stocky, tall kid stepped up and was quickly named "GRYFFINDOR!"

"Hey, that kid looks like he's built for a seeker. We'll see who's team captain and then maybe we'll get that keeper," said Alyssa, nodding towards the little boy. "Should we call him over?" She kept her eyes trained on the line of first years, hearing more HUFFLEPUFFS and SLYTHERINS and RAVENCLAWS than GRYFFINDORS.

Candice looked over and saw the kid, he was easily the biggest child of his age she'd ever seen, if he could fly well, and had decent reflexes, he'd make for a heck of a keeper.

"Personally, I'd guess that Joshua'd be captain, he plays two positions brilliantly, he's strong...tough...muscular...Charismatic, the perfect captain."

Joshua listened to Candice's praises. "Well, I'll be captain, but we need the whole team's consent first." He looked at the kid; he was muscular. "Jeez, if that kid can fly well, he'll be the perfect keeper." He studied the kid. He was what, 5'6", 5'7"? Almost as tall as Joshua himself. "I really hope he can fly well. With him, Candice, Alyssa, and the others, we'll have the perfect quidditch team, and we'll dominate at the quidditch cup, don't you think?"

Alyssa agreed. "Yeah, you'd make a great captain, with you as captain we'll be the best team ever. We'll have the best shot at the cup!" she nudged Joshua on the arm playfully. "Oh look, the feast's started!" They were instantly surrounded by the largest platters of food she had ever seen, with food ranging from chicken to green beans and turkish delight and beyond. "This is so much better than last year!"

Joshua pulled a plate around, piling food on it. He knew he would have to watch his eating since he was on the quidditch team, so he figured he would eat while he could. "You know," he said , "I think that you're right, Alyssa. There is a lot more food here than last year. I wonder if there is a special occasion.

"The perfect meal for the perfect team then!" She said happily helping herself to a mug of pumpkin juice and a some fried rice.

"As for you being captain, you'd be ideal, we'll talk to everyone later in the Common Room ha? I'm sure they'll agree."

Candice wondered, was there some special occasion going on? Maybe somthing like a Tri-Wizard tournament? She didn't know, but it was exciting to think about. It could just be that the elves cooked more.

OoC: Are we foreshadowing something? We can't really decide anything big until Alex gets back because shes the owner of the thread, right?

 

IC: "Well, we can find out about that later, right? Besides, Mr. HM (Headmaster) always tells us on his large speech. Alyssa filled up her plate, conscious of how much she ate in front of Joshua. Ah well, she thought. There is also that spell i learned for reducing body weight. "Hey! There's a new potions teacher!" she saw a new teacher sitting in the potions seat.

Joshua looked at the potions spot. Alyssa was right. A new teacher was sitting at the top table. "I sure hope he's not like that one guy, Snape," he said, remembering the story of Harry Potter. He blinked; he had never dreamed he would become a quidditch captain. He was sure, wherever his father was, that he would be proud of his son. He grabbed a glass of pumpkin juice. "I propose a toast...to the perfect quidditch team," he said, raising his glass to Alyssa and Candice.

OoC: new potions teacher?

 

"Maybe then new teacher is the reason why there's so much food," Alyssa replied. She also raised her pumpkin juice flask. "To the best quidditch team ever!" and clanked it with Joshua's.

OoC: I'm not trying to foreshadow anything, hence the 'elves cooking more' option.

 

IC: She raised her flask "To destroying Slyverin!" She laughed

"You're the best player the team's had since for ages Josh. Plus we know you've got all the girls votes." Candice said jokingly - she knew this was true, but she wasn't about to take it seriously, she wouldn't let herself do that. It would upset her too much to think that all the girls on the team felt the same way she did.

IC: "Haha..." Alyssa ate some chicken. "Here comes the little tyke that looks like a keeper...hello there!" The little boy looked at Alyssa, appeared visibly frightened, and scurried away. "hmm...maybe he'll try out for quidditch and we'll talk to him later..." she decided.

Joshua clinked his glasses against Alyssa's and Candice's. He smiled at them. "Yeah, I do have every girl's vote, don't I?" he said, and laughed. He brought his glass to his lips, and took a small drink. He set the glass down, and reached up with a napkin to wipe his face. He patted it, then took his wand out, tapped it against the napkin. The napkin instantly dried and cleaned itself, and folded itself into a neat little origami.

OoC: I don't see why you'd always refer to the guy as Joshua.

 

IC: Candice was surprised by his behaviour, that kid didn't look like the scared type.

"Oh... that was..slightly unexpected. Good idea, we'll talk to him later, he probably just needs to get settled in here. He might be Muggle-born, it'd be a bit of a shock to just find out that you're a Wizard like that, I'd be edgey too."

OoC: yeah I see, lol i was just a little confused

"Yeah, he probably is muggle born," agreed Alyssa. "One of my old friends were, and when she came as a first year, she was as shy as a mouse!" She turned to Joshua.

"You're also a really good wizard..." Alyssa noted, watching him perform perfect nonverbal spells. She took some more chicken. "What can you transfigure that napkin into?" she prodded, eager to see more magic. She wanted to learn to be as good of a wizard as him.

Joshua blushed at the praise. "I'm really not that good at transfiguration. I think that's my weak spot," he said. He pulled out his wand, concentrated and tapped the napkin. It flashed, and in its place were two roses...made out of flimsy paper. He held them up to Alyssa and Candice. "See, that always happens." He handed them each a rose, wondering what their reactions would be.

"Aww, thanks Joshua!" Alyssa smiled at him, remembering to stay in control and keep Joshua as a friend, and to not have him freaked out about having some third year chasing after him. "Transfiguration and Potions are my strength. I can do this," she waved her wand at the napkin and turned it into a small fly that buzzed around. She smiled at Joshua again.

Candice went absolutely bright red.

"I went to sleep on the train didn't I? This is just a dream." The thought crossed her mind just briefly.

"Wow... Thanks so much Joshua it's beautiful! I love y- it, I love it."

Twice in one day now she'd nearly said somthing incredably awkward. This wasn't like her, she wasn't normally blushy and nervous around Joshua, or any boy for that matter.

With a smirk and a spark Zhilo dissapeared. Although leaving a smell that was afully weird. Theere was a sound in the sky and he said in the end, "Merry Christmas Hogwarts. Especially to my friends."

OoC: Whoa what just happened?

 

IC: "Oh, hi Zhilo..." Alyssa said. She was pretty full by now. She looked at the new potions teacher. It was a man with spiky long hair with a slightly greasy look. He was fiddling with some pot he had next to him, which the Herbology teacher seemed to be arguing with him about. "Do any of you have a spare extendable ear?" she asked.

 

OoC: and no, I know he sounds like Snape but he's not

Candice heard the question, but she didn't answer. She was zonned out, partially due to embarasment of nearly telling Joshua she loved him, partially due to the fact she was now a colour that could best be described as 'sunburnt tomato' She reached for some ice cream, as desert began to appear.
