Umbra
Roland nodded. "A walk would be nice. The air here... it just feels dead. " He tightened his hold on her hand, not painfully hard but a gentle recognition. "And I'd much rather walk with you than either of those two. Cyndane always looks like she's planning something, and Baltimer is just...", he smiled briefly. "I've met outlaws friendlier than him, before the-" He hesitated. The Night wasn't something he would care for remembering, and he assumed neither would she. "Before."
Tempest Dahlia
Elisabeth gave a small laugh."Before? You don't possibly believe that l didn't just sense your hesitation?" She smiled."Surely, you must know i'm much smarter then that... No worries. l won't press on if you don't feel like talking about it."She casually pushed her hair to the side. As they walked by a bulbous, lifeless plant, it perked up at her presense, allured by her aura."By the way... You never told me your power," she said with mock surprise. encapturer
Ashley was laying awake in the mat since her round of guard duty was over. She could see the sun rising through the tent, meaning everyone else is probably getting ready to leave. Last night was uneventful; of course, today will have more than two days' worth of action, she thought to herself. Her armor was repaired a bit, since again she didn't have much tools to work with. At the very least, the breastplate won't randomly fall off. The greaves could still use some work, but they'll hold. She had two layers of clothing on at the moment, so that the armor doesn't touch the bare skin when she switches. For now, she just put on her armor, and had it disintegrate into her outer clothing, pairing them once again. She also had room for more pairs now, since some supplies were used up. After putting on her scarf around her neck, she left the tent. Ashley surveyed the area while taking down her tent. She spotted the two bodyguards, almost ready to leave. She didn't spot Hyena anywhere, though. "Where did that girl run off to..." she muttered to herself. I hope she didn't get caught or anything... Saiba Aisu
OoC: I'm glad to see that Roland and Elisabeth are playing nicely... After all, you're going to need to depend on each other soon. I had originally planned for you guys to RP the catacomb journey yourselves, but I think it's best if I describe it. Have your little walk, if you like, and then I'll send Baltimer after you two. Otaku-san, I'm going to have Cerce go take a bath... not only because I'm a hygienic person, but also because it gives you a chance to RP Paradox's morning. Remember, today we will reach the Tower! === The morning sun rose above the low hills near New Antioch, casting golden light upon the dusty road which circumnavigated the area. A warm sliver of light penetrated a slight gap in Cerce's tent, and after a moment, the young man awoke, his catlike green eyes bright and alert. He sat up in bed and yawned luxuriously, stretching while he did so. He had slept fairly well considering the fast pace they had set yesterday. He ran his fingers through his dark hair pensively, wondering how Paradox had spent the night. Picking his staff up from the rough leather floor of the tent, he gathered his clothes and exited the tent, moving away from the campsite and into the surrounding woods. He had traveled through this area more than once during his wanderings, although not always in such a southwesterly direction; if memory served, there was a gentle but fast-running stream that would be perfect to bathe away the dust he had accumulated yesterday. Yearning for the feel of cool water on his skin, Cerce moved deeper into the shade of the trees.
Otaku-sama
Paradox was disturbed from his meditative trance by the morning sun seeping in through the small tears in his tent. Paradox did not sleep, but instead meditated the night. He got up and stretched his legs from the night of sitting Indian style and walked out of his tent. He got up and looked around, noticing Cerce heading for the river. Paradox decided not to join him and unpacked his shrine once again. He lit up another mix of incense, this one releasing a sunny yellow smoke. He again offered the gods herbs and prayers before extinguishing his incense quickly, hoping that enemies would not question the yellow cloud floating downwind. Umbra
"Neither did you, Elizabeth." He smiled again, a small and barely noticeable smile. "I suppose I could say 'Ladies first', but since you asked so nicely..." He looked around, and found a small plant at their feet, seemingly desperately grasping for air. That plant would not last long... but for now, it served a purpose. He looked back at Elizabeth, and without a word he started the manifestation. Unexpectedly, the plant started radiating a sharp, azure light from within it's bulb, the rays beaming out from between it's withered petals. What happened next was sudden. Roland loosened his hold on Elizabeth's hand - just a little, to leave some room - and immediately a softer purple glow shone through their fingers. "I control light, Elizabeth. There are limits to my ability, but they are few." He released the blue light, but preserved the purple. "So, what can you do, Liz? Show me." Saiba Aisu
After a quarter of an hour spent bathing in the clear and fast-running waters of the nearby river, Cerce returned to the camp, clad in his traveling green cloak and hunting breeches and boots. In his hands, he carried the staff and the clothes he had slept in. He drew closer to his horse, who had been nibbling gently on some form of grass at the ground. He patted it gently and then bent down, folding his clothes and storing them away in one of the many bags. He straightened and noticed Paradox sitting still, apparently meditating. Cerce swept forwards and tapped him on the shoulder. "Paradox? I'm sorry to intrude upon your meditation, but it's almost ten in the morning. We should really set off for the Tower, since we'll reach it by midday..."

Vector Nightmare
OoC: Awright, I've made you guys wait long enough. Time to really kick this RP into gear. You should feel comfortable with your characters and interacting with each other by now, so do your best! ======= Mission Post: Cerce & Paradox Though the light of dawn had already showered the Earth with its radiance, the air was unnatural. The colors were dulled, the ground itself seemed to whisper to the unwary traveller. Don't go! No further! Leave! A person attuned to the elements would sense a great suffering in this land. The spirits of this place would have stories of agony and pain to share - but they were absent. Nothing was here. Only death, and ruin. The sky seemed darker somehow, as if the light, failing to penetrate some invisible mist that hung around this place, was distorted. In the middle of empty patches of dirt where grass had not grown for years, stood a white-and-gray ruin of some old building. It could barely be recognized as a tower right now, as only about two floors were still erect - the rest was in ruins around the area. The entrance was apparent - a large chasm where a gate used to stand, dark and silent; ominous. No signs of life within and without. But, one thing would be noticed by any one who approached. A sort of signpost carved in stone near the entrance to the general ruins. The inscription, aside from being in some ancient runic language unknown to modern man, was halfway scratched and covered in moss, pieces of the stone itself missing. However, there was another inscription, much more recent, scribed underneath the original with clear letters, bright crimson, as if put there by some sort of magic hand. It only read one word. DEATH --- OoC: The current task for you two is to RP your characters entrance to the tower's ruin. As long as you do not put anything living in the scenery outside, feel free to add any details you wish, if you feel they will enhance your RPing. On a related subject: Otaku-sama, we have decided to allow a more "general" approach on the subject of mystical powers. Thus, your character's spells will be retained, but, for now, before using any of them for any plot-affecting cause, you will have to consult Saiba or myself. ======= Mission Post: Ashley & Hyena Barring the lack of a chaotic outer ring of civilians and merchants who had set up their tents to take advantage of the needs of a more-or-less permanently established military encampment, and the difference in size, the small camp near the river was much like a miniature version of Avalon's base of operations. Around fifteen tents set up in an orderly fashion around a single banner. Some larger ones obviously serving as the kitchens and dining hall, the commander's tent, or the place for the strategical meetings, while the rest housed the troops stationed in the area. However, there was a huge difference. The atmosphere was heavy and depressive. The banners were set low. Too few people were around, even for a camp of that size. The single guard outside looked haggard. His armor was unclean, marred with fresh and old blood, pierced and cut in several places. He himself was only just now recovering from an ugly wound that had left a scar on the left side of his face. "Something has happened here." Kael muttered uneasily as the party approached the camp. "Hail, soldier." He saluted. The guard gave the appropriate response with barely any enthusiasm. "Reinforcements?" He asked wearily. "Too little, too late. This place is a deathtrap." He shook his head. "What has happened here? Where are the rest of the troops?" Narth asked. "Dead, or worse." The man replied. He sounded... resigned. "As we will all be, soon enough, I reckon." "The bandits? Just how many of them are there?" Kael asked cautiously. "Little over fifty. At least, that's what the corpses we found seem to say. There may have been more. Must've been. It's not like 'em to leave corpses behind unless they're sated. The bandits were all dead when we came here." "Then what is the problem?" Narth demanded, starting to lose his temper. "What has happened to the caravan? Who are you fighting?" "The caravan? Dead, as far as we know or care." The guard shrugged. "Who are we fighting? You'll see, by nightfall. They let you get here, now you're trapped. We try to leave, we die. We stay, we die. They have us right where they want us." "But who? What has done... this?!" Kael asked, waving with his hand. Now that they had climbed up the small hill where the encampment was set on, the whole truth of the situation was revealed. The village that was around here - was only smoldering ashes. The short, unnaturally dark hills they had seen around the region from a distance - they were hills alright. Of corpses. The guard looked at them seriously. "Demons." He replied. --- OoC: If you two are in the middle of something, feel free to conclude it before RPing this part. You have the setting, and about two hours till nightfall. ======= "Uh. Oh. Yeah... Umbra
Roland nodded. She had only seen but a fragment of his power, as Cyndane before her, and it was only reasonable to call it graceful in it's current state. "I have seen many things in my days, and while I don't say there aren't things I'd rather forget, I'm not a man easily scared. Please, go on." Let's see if her power is one worth using... or if it should be remembered at all. Elizabeth was far from impressing him at this time, but that might change. The boy didn't look that much either, yet he's probably the most powerful of us all.

Tempest Dahlia
"...Alright. Fine."Elisabeth didn't wait for a nod this time: she wanted him to to not only see, but feel her powers as well, even if he wasn't her enemy...She found an exposed part of Roland's neck, and decided there would be the vessel for what she was about to do. “You said you wouldn’t scream… Let’s see if you can keep that promise.” She clamped her sharp teeth on the side of his neck: almost instantly, blood sprouted from the wound and down the woman’s chin, dripping on the ground as she kept her teeth buried into the man’s neck. She stayed there for a few seconds, savoring the sweet taste of the red liquid and not looking at the reaction on Roland’s face. Then she let up; The wound seemed to close as she unlatched her teeth away from his neck, wiping her mouth as she spoke.“Hmm… That ought to do it.” Letting go of his hand, she recited a small, simple incantation: A lavender-colored circle began to expand under the woman’s feet as if she were under some sort of curse. She brought her hands up to the sky, and the blood that dripped from Roland’s body seeped into the mysterious enchantment. Two fairly large, ebony colored vines crept from the ground and started to wrap around Elisabeth’s feet. It happened so suddenly. What came next was a complete blur of black, and an immense amount of evil energy. Six tall plants emerged from the ground, sprouting and growing to a monstrous height, completely beating out the moon that rested in the night sky. Each plant looked like… something from a monster book, opening their bulbous mouths and roaring with booming voices. A green liquid oozed from their mouths, hitting the ground and melting it away. Elisabeth didn’t say anything: After a few minutes she simply laughed, a laugh of malice and mystery. She allowed the plants to roar once more, and then she simply waved her hand. The circle beneath her, as will as the building-sized plants, shattered and disappeared disappeared instantly.

The Warden
Deus his his smile, he knew by the hesitant tone that Victor had fallen for it. 'Limitations, well, as far as I can tell, my largest illusions can only extend to about five metres in each direction, though I haven't tested further. I will show you a large scale illusion, but I must warn you now, this will take some time and energy' Deus explained and closed his eyes. The room itself began to quiver, as from the nearby chair, new shoots of plant growth began to grow. Small plums of grass popped up to become a sweeping carpet of greenery. The chair in this time had grown into a large tree, which seemed to grow beyond the roof's height. The roof in question had become a brilliant blue sky, set many miles above. The original smith seemed to melt away, leaving nothing but an expansive garden. Small flowers grew randomly, birds chirped in the high branches of the trees. 'Welcome, to my garden' Deus whispered. Otaku-sama
Paradox gazed upon the ruined tower. The first thing that caught his eye was the stone sign in front of the ruined gates. He recognized the runic symbols as they were the writing of a people who worshipped the same gods as him. He scratched away the moss over the runes to reveal the full message of runes on the sign. Paradox sounded out the cryptic language to himself as he ran his fingers down the runes. "Interesting. The runes do not read of a curse or a warning, but a description of the tower's history and use. The ones who wrote the words over it are most likely the ones occupying the castle now and they don't want anyone coming in," Paradox said to Cerce after reading to himself for a couple seconds. Paradox summoned his orbs from his staff and they went off into the surrounding rubble, one finding an empty torch holder. "Did Avalon happen to give us a torch? These clouds are making it quite dark and a little bit more light would make navigating the ruins a little bit easier."
encapturer
Demons. Ashley had picked up rumors of them during her travels, and what she heard made her dread having to deal with them. The carnage left all over shows how ferocious the things were, at least. This situation as a whole reminded her of a job she took on before, having to guide some merchants through a dangerous forest. Of course, she didn't have to deal with demons on that job. "Given the choices... I'd fight my way out," Ashley said to everyone present. She couldn't understand why the soldiers were just sitting here waiting to die. "What we need now, though is some information," She added, her eyes glancing around the camp, as if she was looking for clues. "Like where the caravan's goods might be, how the demons attack, where they come from... stuff like that."
Naimo
"Yes," agreed Hyena. She had come back from hunting rather timely, and knew about what had happened. Now she sat in her position, half-eating on the carcass, half-listening. "Ashley's right." She didn't say anymore for a while as she finished off her meal, then began to sniff the ground, as if trying to find for traces of the demons ... which she was. "The ground reeks of demons alright." She stuck her head off the ground and looked at the group. During such a serious time, her usual grin had gone, and she was looking oddly serious.
