Hey there, everybody. I'd like to welcome you to our latest RP, co-headed by Ixigo and myself. We've cooked up a really good storyline and environment here, and we're hoping to find some enthusiastic participation. Sure, the Advanced Tag means you'll have to work a bit harder to be accepted, but we're determined to make this an enjoyable and high-quality RP.

Fire. From the starry heavens came a cascade of fire and brimstone, like the wrath of hell descending to 10th century Earth. Like the dawn of the apocalypse, the star—which was called the Ethereal Twilight in later years—ravaged the sky and poisoned the seas, leaving only ashes, ruin, and bitterness in its wake. Black clouds covered the sky, hiding the sun. Night.

 

The Night lasted a long time. Weeks, months, maybe years. What was left of humanity quickly lost track of time, trapped in the shadow of devastation, hiding, praying for a miracle that would not come. Eventually, the dust dispersed across the sky, and the sun shone once more on a ruined world. The face of the world had forever changed. Continents sundered in half, mountains blown off as if they had never existed, islands sunk to the depths of the ocean, and the whole of existence dyed in shades of crimson and black.

 

But humanity had persevered—it had adapted. Although the dead numbered painfully high, there were those who claimed the Ethereal Twilight had lent them supernatural powers. Powers that were to be used to survive the shrouds of the darkness and to ensure the survival of the human race. Although they were branded and persecuted as heretics at first, they were now worshipped as Gods in this new awakening, for they were crucial if any hope of restoration was to be found. They were named the Sentinels, the ones responsible for safeguarding the prospects of the future.

 

As the scattered humans began banding together, so too did the Sentinels. A majestic city was revived from the ashes, a city of gold and prosperity. New Antioch became the newly established capital of the human civilization, ruled by the Golden Senate—a coalition between the world's most powerful Sentinels—wrought together by their unique abilities. It became a reflection of a world that had been lost forever.

 

The seeds of human corruption were present, too, though, and wasting no time, they put forth their insidious roots—within hardly any time at all, the Senate had fallen prey to a decadence caused by its own power. To oppose their rule, the group that called themselves Avalon, a wandering army who worked to protect and ensure the safety of the human settlements, established a headquarters close to New Antioch—however, they were reluctant to wage war against the citadel, instead seeking out diplomatic solutions and ways to weaken the Senate's influence from within. Headed almost entirely by a female Sentinel that had risen to legendary status during the Night, they sought to use their abilities for justice and peace.

 

However, unable to rely on the Avalon for support, the desperate citizens of New Antioch turned to another group: the shadowy outlaws, the Amethyst Order, based deep underground beneath the city—terrorists and rebels who opposed the Senate for their own twisted reasons.

 

Barely having recovered from the cataclysmic destruction that brought it to ruin, humanity already plunges head-first into a civil war. In a world where the darkness of the Senate is becoming the controlling force, the crusaders of Avalon must fight against the expanding influence of the Amethyst Order, while both factions are beset by external threats.

 

And as the twilight spreads, an ancient shadow beckons.

You are either a Sentinel, a keeper of the last hope for a dying world, set in the year 900 of the Middle Ages, or a talented warrior or craftsman. The time has come to choose your allegiance. Will you swear yourself to the crusaders of Avalon, seeking to preserve what can be preserved, protect what can be protected, and offer your very life to that end? Or do you believe that without action, there can be no change? That the only answer to oppression is a revolution? Are you willing to join the Amethyst Order, and take the fight up to the ones who had the audacity to challenge you?

 

 

 

[spoiler=Rules (Please Read!)]

 

1. Don't God Mod. Doing so will result in one warning. Anytime after that warning will result in a ban from this RP.

2. Posts must contain some IC actions. Meaning no OoC only posts.

3. This is a high-action, engaging RP, and it requires that you post often. Failure to post for more than 3 days will result in expulsion from the RP.

4. The RP will use third-person narrative. This is to avoid confusion and allow for greater character development and description.

5. If you feel that others are slowing the RP down or are creating problems for it, please feel free to contact the Game Masters (Ixigo and Saiba Aisu). However, keep in mind that we have the final say.

6. You cannot create more than one character at a time. Only Game Masters have this ability, unless specified otherwise.

7. No two characters can have the same ability. This is for obvious reasons. If you are unsure as to whether or not an ability you'd like to you is dissimilar enough to work, feel free to PM one of the Game Masters.

8. All additional RP rules apply and will be enforced.

 

 

 

[spoiler=Banned Powers & Abilities (Please Read!)]

 

In this RP, characters will be allowed to possess special abilities or skills of great variety and usefulness. However, there are certain limitations.The following is a list of banned powers and abilities that will not be accepted in any characters you submit. Try and stick with one if at all possible; it can be developed later. Also make sure that the power matches the time period this RP is set in - the Middle Ages. This means that powers that are technology-related will be useless.

NOTE: If you would like to use some of the less-ridiculous powers listed below and you have implemented a limitation that would make it completely fair and balanced, PM one of the Game Masters with the details before you use it. Exceptions to this list are at our exclusive discretion.

1. Power Shifting

The ability to disperse 1 power and take on another. The reason why is quite obvious. With this power, you could have every power imaginable.

 

2. Unlimited Power Snatching

The ability to extract the power from someone rendering them powerless for a remander of the RP.

 

3. Limitless Power Absorbtion

The ability to absord someone's power for as long as the user wishes.

This means person A absorbing person B's power for the rest of the RP so they both have it. You can have this power but it has to have a time limit.

 

4. Power Reflector

The ability to deflect all powers.

This is just another way of Godmodding which is prohibited.

 

5. Power Bestowal

The ability to grant others a specific power.

This would be greatly unfair to the opposing Faction since someone could grant each member of their own faction a power to beat the other faction.

 

6. Negation Power

The ability to cancel out any other person's power.

Obviously this would cause disruption in a battle. All this person needs to do is run around and tag everyone in the other faction and bam! Instant domination. Totally unfair.

 

7. Biological manipulation

The ability to control all aspects of a living creature's biological make-up. This includes, but is not limited to, genetic alterations, physical distortion/augmentations, healing, disease, and biological functions.

The user of this power has the capability of never being hit in the heart- or virtually dying for that matter.

 

8. Temporal duplication

The ability to bring past and future versions of oneself back to the present.

Bringing yourself from the past and future messes with the storyline and confuses things easily. Best to avoid this power all together.

 

9. Invulnerability

The ability to be immune to one or more forms of physical damage.

2 simple words...GOD MODDING!

 

10. Matter ingestion

The ability to consume any sort of matter without any ill effects on the user.

The power's desription says it all.

 

11. Reactive adaptation/evolution

The ability to develop a resistance or immunity to whatever they were injured by or exposed to. This effect can be permanent or temporary.

12. Omniscience

The ability to know anything and everything.

13. Domination/Mind Control

The ability to alter the perceptions of others, and general ability to control the actions of others with the mind.

14. Astral trapping

The ability to cause an astral projection to stay on the astral plane, usually in one specific place.

This is just a tad irrelevant. You may have the ability to release your essence into the astral planes, but not being able to trap others.

 

15. Memory manipulation

The ability to erase or enhance the memories of another.

16. Possession

The ability to take control and inhabit the body of an individual.

GM

 

17. Animation/Re-Animation

The ability to bring inanimate objects to life or to free an individual from petrification or the ability to restore a once animate object to life in an unconsious state under manipulation.

18. Disintegration

The ability to disintegrate matter through touch or through beams.

This is so obvious I wont even state why.

 

19. Immortality

The ability to live forever. This may be complete immortality encompassing invulnerability, partial invulnerability to all but specific events or simply an inability to age normally.

This idea makes me cry.

 

20. Resurrection

The ability to come back to life after being killed.

21. Intangibility or phasing

The ability to phase through solid matter without harm.

This would normally be ok but in an RP it would border on invulnerability thus rendering you invincible.

 

22. Molecular manipulation

The ability to mentally manipulate the molecules of objects and/or one's self on a molecular level.

23. Probability manipulation

The ability to alter probability, causing unlikely things to happen or likely things to not happen.

24. Reality warping

The ability to change or manipulate reality itself.

25. Time manipulation

~ The ability to affect the flow of time by slowing, accelerating, reversing, or stopping it.

Same reason as the Temporal duplication.

 

26. Energy conversion

The ability to absorb one form of energy and convert it into another form of energy. Allows user to create any energy, and thus the one that might be able to kill you easily.

 

27. Dimensional transportation

The ability to create wormholes, portation "discs" or other spatial portals for transport between two non-adjacent locations

This is virtually teleportation which is GM since all you need to do is teleport whenever your in danger.

 

28. Omnipresence

The ability to be present anywhere and everywhere always.

29. Time travel

The ability to travel back or forth through time.

Same as Time manipulation

 

30. Sublimation

The ability to transform into a gaseous, mist, or fog-like form.

The is can make you invulnerable.

 

31. Substance Mimicry

Ability to transform into substance touched.

Infinite power selection.

 

32. Power Absorbtion Shapeshifting

The ability to transform into another person with a specific ability and obtain the transformation's abilities while retaining your own.

Infinite power selection.

 

33. Sound manipulation

The ability to manipulate sound.

Being able to control sound you can easily blow someone's head up. Not fair in the least bit.

[spoiler=Disclaimer]This RP was created in response to the locking of Lovely C.C.'s RP, Twilight Shrapnels. Although the two threads possess similar prologues, the plot is entirely different in Shards of Twilight, and includes completely different elements, setting, and characters. This RP is NOT a remake of Twilight Shrapnels. This thread is approved by Rinne. Do not post complaining about similarities. You have been warned.

As the co-host of this RP, I'll extend my welcome to every one of you who wants to join us in this - hopefully - enjoyable adventure.

FACTION / POSITION: Avalon [Leader]

 

POWERS / ABILITIES: Niobe can feel the presence of other humans, even though she can't see. However, this doesn't extend to non-living objects (though she can perceive animals, to a lesser extent). In her own words, humans appear as "bright spots in the darkness", and she is able to judge their disposition and alignment by their shape, size, and color - though such an analysis is sketchy at best. She possesses above average combat skills and physical strength, results of her rigorous training and discipline - of course, her combat ability is impaired by her blindness.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Silver-lined metal breastplate, thin and light, but well-crafted and durable. A helm bearing two decorative feathered wings on either side. The armor is complete with armguards and legplates, and a pair of silver gauntlets. A big round shield called Aegis with the emblem of a rose on it. A silver long sword.

 

PERSONALITY: Noble and steadfast. An idealist. Despite her young age, she has a very powerful conviction, and desires the salvation of all of humanity, which is why she will not move against New Antioch even if she realizes the evil lurking within. She is an inspiring commander that also acts a spiritual mentor to her crusaders. Her unwavering faith rests within a higher power she views as "destiny".

PERSONALITY: Rafael is always serious and business-like. He dislikes disorder, laziness, and sloth. He always assumes command in any given situation, and demands respect and obedience. However, he is quite a just commander, always leading by example and never hesitating to put himself in harm's way in order to protect those under his authority.

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: His armor. The traditional, largely ornamental greatsword of Avalon's Knights is usually strapped across his back.

 

PERSONALITY: He always seems to be in a humorous mood, though he has a rather cynical, or even cruel sense of it. His interests switch around very quickly, so he rarely stays focused on one thing for long. Rather confident and arrogant, he still shows some measure of respect when it is earned.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Unrevealed as of yet.

 

 

 

AMETHYST ORDER:

[spoiler=Cyndane]NAME: Cyndane

 

AGE: 29

 

GENDER: Female

 

APPEARANCE:

-HEIGHT: 5"4

-WEIGHT: 130 lbs.

-FIGURE: Slim, buxom

-HAIR COLOR: Silvery blonde

-HAIR STYLE: Worn long and unbound, reaching to halfway down her forearms. When in need of stealth, she binds in a tight and effective bun.

-EYE COLOR: Black

-COMPLEXION: Pale

-CLOTHING: Since Cyndane rarely engages in open combat, she is often seen wearing expensive silken dresses, usually with inlaid designs. When she is in need of stealth, she changes into a set of form-fitting breeches and a black coat.

 

FACTION / POSITION: Amethyst Order [Commander-in-Chief]

 

POWERS / ABILITIES: Although Cyndane possesses no supernatural abilities, she is privy to an incredible and almost sinister amount of knowledge concerning poisons and herbal remedies, although she often ignores the latter. This knowledge makes her one of the most valuable members of the Amethyst Order; in her own words, she is "irreplaceable". Although she guards her secrets jealously, the terrible effects of her poisons are only too well known—there have been many cases of her enemies dropping dead for no reason, even when scrutinized with autopsies. Nothing has ever been proven, although each of these mysterious deaths has improved Cyndane's standing exponentially.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Cyndane dislikes obvious weapons like swords or maces. While bows are acceptable to her, her favorite weapon of choice is the dagger; she carries at least fifteen of them on her person at all times. Apart from wielding the daggers with incredible mastery, Cyndane often takes to dipping her weapons in different poisons, making even the slightest nick by her life-threatening.

 

PERSONALITY: Although she often appears vain and callous to some, Cyndane is actually quite practical and reasonable when dealing with others. While her vengeful side often come into conflict with this, she considers logic to be the most important principle when applied to life and its decisions, and usually ends up making the most sound decision. She values composure and cunning, although she is not above getting her hands dirty if it's necessary. She's rather unscrupulous.

 

BIOGRAPHY: While most of the Amethyst Order's "Special Corps" is composed from those who possess supernatural abilities of some sort, Cyndane is largely unique in the fact that she is Commander-in-Chief and possesses no such talent. Born and raised within a small and miserable town, she served for some years as an apprentice to the village wisewoman, where she studied herbs to a great degree. After the Ethereal Twilight struck the earth, the seventeen-year old Cyndane took advantage of the chaos and made her way to New Antioch much earlier than the rest of its populace. Once there, she immediately sought out the Amethyst Order, putting her considerable talents to assassination, espionage, and coercion. Her motivations behind leading this lifestyle are largely selfish; she desires nothing more than to have personal luxury and security, and she does not care by which way she obtains them. Her own comfort, survival, and success are the most important things to her.

 

 

[spoiler=Baltimer]NAME: Baltimer

 

AGE: 45

 

GENDER: Male

 

APPEARANCE:

-HEIGHT: 6"1

-WEIGHT: 164 lbs.

-FIGURE: Muscular, sturdy

-HAIR COLOR: Brown, graying at the temples

-HAIR STYLE: Worn predominantly buzzed, although he does have a short ponytail.

-EYE COLOR: Gray

-COMPLEXION: Normal, Caucasian

-CLOTHING: Ever one for the rules and by-the-book methods, Baltimer is rarely seen outside of his uniform, which consists of both an embroidered black uniform for casual use and a set of full black armor for combat. Both bear the hexagonal purple gem that is the standard of the Amethyst Order.

 

FACTION / POSITION: Amethyst Order [Captain-General]

 

POWERS / ABILITIES: Although he is generally peaceful by nature and prefers to resolve disputes by diplomatic means, Baltimer's rank as a Captain General is well-deserved when applied to his mastery with his weapon of choice, the hand-and-a-half sword. His prowess with the blade among the Amethyst Order's confines is near-legendary; the fact that he is the preferred bodyguard of such an important personage as the Lady Cyndane only adds to his repute.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Baltimer is rarely seen without his signature, worn hand-a-half sword, which he polishes and sharpens just enough to keep serviceable; he considers subtlety to be very important, and dislikes flashy weapons that draw attention unnecessarily. When riding into battle, he equips himself with a small shield designed to crush and smash as much as defend.

 

PERSONALITY: Baltimer is extremely reserved, responsible, and professional; he is never seen in a state of agitation or disarray. With his methodical, by-the-book methods and attitude, he won himself the captaincy over the heads of several more hot-headed candidates. While this quality may be rare in a soldier, it is excellent in a general; his composure often allows him to view things from a neutral perspective to his advantage. He harbors a deep admiration for his charge, the Lady Cyndane.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Although Baltimer was a grown man serving as drafted soldier in the locality when the Ethereal Twilight struck the earth, his life was no less affected by it than others. Being from the same village as Cyndane—a fact he rarely bandies about—he was convinced by the young girl to accompany her to New Antioch. During the journey, he served as a bodyguard to her; once they arrived in New Antioch and joined the Amethyst Order—she for primarily selfish reasons, he to topple the corrupt rule of the Senate—this relationship continued, with the man serving as Cyndane's guard and shadow as she perilously climbed the ranks of the organization by any means she could. Now a General who has won the admiration and respect of his peers, his dedication to the Lady Cyndane remains as stolid as ever, despite the cruel and ungrateful way that she often treats him.

 

 

[spoiler=Andoras]NAME: Andoras

 

AGE: 26

 

GENDER: Male

 

APPEARANCE:

-HEIGHT: 5"9

-WEIGHT: 147 lbs.

-FIGURE: Regular

-HAIR COLOR: Brown

-HAIR STYLE: Cut very short, as is custom of the Amethyst Order Guards.

-EYE COLOR: Brown

-COMPLEXION: Lightly tanned

-CLOTHING: Simple, yet effective, black armor and black leggings. On the right breast, the symbol of the Amethyst Order, a hexagonal purple gem is visible.

 

FACTION / POSITION: Amethyst Order [Guard]

 

POWERS / ABILITIES: Although Andoras possesses no particular skill with any form of weapon, he is more talented than many of the other guards. His skills with a blade and bow are above normal, but nothing overly extraordinary.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: A set of black armor worn over matching black leggings, and a standard but effective longsword, with a special pommel that lends him a better grip. When foraying outside of the Amethyst Order's underground headquarters, he often takes along a standardized shield or bow and arrows.

 

PERSONALITY: Although he means well, Andoras often manages to do the wrong thing at the wrong time, a fact which does not endear him to many of his superiors. While he is young and in the prime of his life, he lacks ambition, and does his best to avoid conflicts with his superiors. Unfortunately, his troubled relationship with Lady Cyndane shows that this is not always possible.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Andoras was a young boy of fourteen when the Ethereal Twilight struck the earth. After surviving the Night, during which his town was virtually destroyed by looters, he made his way with several others to the newly-fashioned capital, New Antioch. Once there, he enlisted quickly enough in the army of the Senate; however, his enlistment did not last long. Claiming that he could not fight to uphold such a corrupt regime, he turned his service instead to the Amethyst Order.

Okay, Chase. You have a potentially interesting character here, although there are certainly a few details you'll need to fix before he's accepted. I'll do my best to explain them briefly to you here.

 

For starters, those 'names' were there to make reading the character easier, and for reference. Removing them means more work on our part to identify what you're describing. Apart from that, you seem to have forgotten a lot of punctuation and spelling throughout your application. While we could correct this for you, I believe you should be the one who does so. This way, you'll learn from your mistakes. This is a high-level RP. It says so in the thread title, so you knew what you were getting into. If you want to get accepted, you'll need to put in some good effort, and I can't say you came off too strongly here.

 

Then there's your character's appearance - although he may be an aquamancer or aquanetic, having blue hair is unjustified and unimaginative, especially when you realize that water is actually colorless. Also, you appear to have skipped over some important details in the first post. For example, the time period in which it is set, the middle ages. This means that tennis shoes and jackets of the kind which you are describing do not exist. His name could also be a little better. Why is he called Zan?

 

Next up is your character's power. This may not have been very evident in the rules, but this RP will feature different power restrictions than the more relaxed ones on Twilight Shrapnels. The amount of control you are describing over your given element is incredibly complex and would take a very long time to master. Apart from that, it's simply overpowered. The ability to attack with, repel with, move speedily with, pressurize, and heat or cool water may have been okay in X-Men, but that's not the case here. Also, you added no drawback to his powers, which is required.

 

However, your character does have a few redeeming details. I really like the idea of Zan carrying a waterbottle - which you'll have to change to waterskin, waterpouch, or some kind of portable urn due to the time period - is really unique, and fits well with the character as a whole, allowing him to use his abilities in all environments. This is the kind of stuff you want to aim for. Then there's Zan's height, which is extremely bizarre in a 14-year-old kid. Try and reduce this. His weight is fine. Again, you seem to have missed the age restriction. At 14, Zan is too young to join the Avalon Faction.

 

His personality seems indicative of someone mercurial and calculating, which is fine. You may want to rewrite it into better-structured and more descriptive sentences, though. Finally, there's the character bio, in which you seem to have ignored the time period again. Remember, this is set in the middle ages, so there are no machines like that. Secondly, the meteorite and the environment of magic it creates are the factors for gaining power in this RP. You need to change your bio to reflect this.

 

There's a lot to fix, true, but your character has some potential if you're willing to contribute the effort. I would suggest you change his appearance suitably, focus on one aspect of his power or perhaps change it completely since water-wielding is so generic. Work on his bio and personality, and he'll be much, much better. Once you've made the necessary changes and your effort is evident, we'll be happy to accept your character.

well allow me to explain a few things

1. I'm using a wii and therefore cant copy and paste and makes it difficult to use grammar

2.i missed where the timeframe was introduced

screw numbers onthe height note i find it realistic seeing as I am only 12 and measure at 5'8.5

most of my problems derived from my misconception of the setting and i will revise the app when i can get on my computer (so in 2-3 days)

Broken Heart: The time setting is placed within the medieval period, thus limiting the amount of detail and conflict we'd have to deal with. It also affects technology in this period, so keep that in mind. Thanks for bringing the time period ambiguity to my attention. Edited.

 

Chase: Okay, I understand you're using a Wii. However, if this is the case, it would have been better to message the profile to one of the Game Masters instead of posting it. Alright, that's chiefly my fault for not making it clearer. Timeframe edited to be more apparent.

 

That's very interesting and unusual. I'm nineteen years old, and I only measure 5"11. You're really quite tall for your age... Which, unfortunately, means you're not old enough to participate in this RP, since it's PG-16.

POWERS / ABILITIES: Illusory gentleman - Deus has the power to generate and create illusions, including supposed weaponry to small locations, creating small illusions is a quick process, whilst large scale take a small amount of time to create. Maintaining small illusions is generally easy for Deus, however, larger illusions like entire locations are extremelly strenuous and will force him to stop it after an hour. Illusions can only be seen by Deus and his victim(s), so anyone else watching is generally seeing a very strange performance. Those caught by the illusion generally believe everything unless they have a strong will or they realize they are in an illusion, but Deus does his best to prevent the latter. That being said, any pain the victim(s) may be feeling is purely self caused by the victim(s), it isn't really happening. Deus is vulnerable whilst using his power to create large illusions, and will be forced to end his illusions if he comes to harm or is forced to defend himself.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: N/A

 

PERSONALITY: A religious zealot, he acts in absolute faith of the saintess. He acts humanly to those who would share his belief in the goddess, and the 'heretics' who do not, is best not mentioned.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Once a priest of the church, he was praying at the alter when the fire fell from the skies. He took refuge underneath a statue of a saintess. The church was torn asunder, and the very statue fell and guarded Deus from the disaster. He kept within the ruins until the dust cleared, he was kept alive by his own curious powers. The words of the saintess kept him supposedly sane, and he survived. He believed his survival was granted by the supreme power of the saintess, and began to devote his life to the worship of her.

I'm generally satisfied with your character, Broken. There is one real flaw to point out. At 26 years old, your character's quite young to be a priest. At 14 years old, he's way too young to have been a priest. I suggest making your character older, since everything about him befits the image of a rather older man. Either that, or turn him from a priest to simply a boy who worked at the church. I'd also note that your personality entry refers more to a general attitude / way he approaches people, rather than explore his mindset and morals. But I'll let you develop your character as you wish.

 

I'm more or less fine with your powers, since you've balanced them out decently. I will impress upon you, though, that text RPing with illusion-based powers can be quite tricky, and requires coordination between you and your opponents - either that, or lengthy posts describing exactly what's going on. That wouldn't be much of a problem when fighting NPCs or enemies we control, but if you find yourself battling a fellow member, it can pose a bit of an issue. This is just my personal view, but I wouldn't recommend illusion powers unless you're committed to trying hard in order to make it work. If you feel up to it, that's fine by me.

 

Other than that minor age issue I mentioned at first, consider yourself accepted. Saiba will also probably want to share a few words, since he's responsible for the faction you've chosen. However, allow me to extend a warm welcome to you on her behalf as well.

The further away Roland is from the orb, the weaker it shines, and he has estimated a limit of 200 yards where the light vanishes entirely. He can manifest up to six orbs at a time, and can even go as far as deciding the color of the light for easier coordination.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: In synchronization with his ability, Roland wields a longbow and a set of steel-tipped arrows. Killing becomes... target practice.

 

PERSONALITY: Above all, Roland is a rational being. He does what will forward his goal, with little regard for those around him - even those on his side. If someone is in his way, they should step aside - otherwise, they might just wake up extinct one day.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Roland was once part of the noble Sanlaine family; his father a duke and his mother a duchess, he would inherit their throne should his older brothers die heirless. Even back then, he had been a bit of a loner. His only friend - true friend - was his squire Malyn, whom he would go out hunting with several times per week. After the Night, during which he had remained in what was left of his father's keep, screaming in desperation, he had woken up to a new world. Everyone he had known was either dead, or missing. Malyn was nowhere to be found, and deep inside Roland hoped for him to be alive. During his wailing in the night, he had come to a realization: The high and the low are the same. His father, almost royalty, hadn't been saved when the end came crashing down on him. Before the Reaper, everyone is equal. Now... he was going to spread his knowledge to everyone else, the only way he knew. He would become Death.

 

As he went out hunting one day, in a desperate attempt for his life to go back to normal, he discovered his manipulation. At first, he thought he'd finally snapped when the dancing lights started to follow him around, and floating above the heads of his prey. Then he learned how to control them, and to use them to his advantage. He had heard of New Antioch, a sanctuary for the survivors, and finally he decided to step away from his old life and become something more. Shortly after his arrival, he was caught in the civil war and ended up with the Amethyst Order. Even to this day, the memory of his lost friend haunts him.

Umbra, your application is, as expected, spot-on. I have no real complaints here, apart from how a human can survive several years screaming in a castle all by himself. But I assume that description was, more or less, for dramatic flair. The power you developed is interesting and unusual - I love seeing non-combative powers around. As far as I'm concerned, you're in all the way. As with all members of the Amethyst Order, Saiba will probably want to say a word as well.

FACTION / POSITION: Avalon

 

POWERS / ABILITIES: Essentially, Ashley can join any two items into one item, we'll call it a pair. When this happens, only one item of the pair will exist, the other is 'nulled'. At any time, she can switch around which item exists and which is nulled in a pair she is touching. For example, she can pair her sword and scarf. She can null her sword, having only the scarf exist. If she gets into a battle, she can null her scarf, and her sword will appear in its place. After battle she can switch the objects around again. She can also unpair a pair (no need to touch it), in which case, the nulled object just appears nearby.

 

While the mechanics are not known specifically, the amount of things she can pair is limited, as if both items in the pair take up room in some pocket dimension she has access to. To continue the analogy, pairs that are not sized similarly (in overall volume) would distort this dimension, giving her less space to pair other items. As noted below, Ashley will get her sword/scarf pair, her shirt/armor pair, her dagger/spear pair. As noted above, the dagger/spear pair takes up more 'space' than normal, since their sizes are so mismatched. In the end, she will have enough room left over for one more pair between two small items.

 

She cannot swap items in quick succession. After swapping once, she must wait about 5 minutes before swapping again (pairing/unpairing counts as swapping, here). Each pair has their own timer, so she can get armed for battle in an instant, but can't swap between her knife and spear on a whim. It is possible to switch before 5 minutes are up, but it will most likely not be pretty (see biography). Fortunately, Ashley instinctively knows when it is safe to switch.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: She carries a few pairs on her. Her clothing is paired to a suit of bronze armor. Her scarf is paired with a longsword. She carries a dagger, but that, too is paired, this time with a melee spear.

 

PERSONALITY: Ashley is curious, a trait that she had since childhood. This manifests itself presently as a desire to wander and explore. Ashley is reserved, a trait acquired after the Ethereal Twilight. She had to learn to survive, and keeping to oneself is one of the best ways to do so. Ashley is careful, a trait that allowed her to win her first battles. She tends to err on the side of caution, though she allows herself more freedom in battles. Ashley is vengeful, a trait that is not often seen. She can be patient with her revenge, and sometimes can put aside vendettas temporarily, but she does not forget wrongs done to her.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Ashley was the daughter of a blacksmith of a small village. She had shown proficiency with the blade at an early age, so she was trained to be a member of the guard. While women were usually not considered equal to men there, a skilled warrior was just that, regardless of gender. She was... happy.

 

Even after the Night, she was one of the lucky ones. Her father and mother survived, and they were able to continue living together. However, one day her powers manifested. She went to show her parents her ability to exchange one item for another. As she was demonstrating it to them, she fell into a coma. Strange visions were shown to her, none of which she could understand. All she knew was that those visions were ominous. When she came to, her parents were... gone.

 

She blamed herself for their vanishing, cursing her own curiosity. Eventually, she came to terms with what happened, and decided to master her power so that something like that would never happen again. She would use the power that took her parents to protect and defend, as she did before the Twilight. This brings her to join Avalon, who seems to be in line with her own goals...

His gloves and boots are also mirrored, showing the same world.

POWERS / ABILITIES:

Paradox carries three spheres on his staff. Each contains a strange ethereal orb that looks like a soul. These orbs can possess objects nearby, usually dangerous things like swords or sticks, and attack Paradox's enemies within a 100 metre radius . These souls are independant and are able to think on their own, but still take command from Paradox. Each orb can control up to 20 kg worth of mass, but they can work together to carry larger objects up to 50 kg. Also, these orbs can only possess inanimate objects or dead organisms that are at dead for at least a month. Furthermore, these orbs can be knocked out of their possessed object with a good amount of force. When forcefully removed, the orb must return to a sphere on Paradox's staff and 'regenerate' for at least 30 minutes.

Through research of the arcane, Paradox was able to extend his lifespan beyond the natural human limitation of 120 years to 180. He still gets hurt like any other human however.

He has great knowledge of the arcane, being able to create a variety of magic potions, identify magical properties and cast complex spells from his book of the arcane (he can't do this in combat).

 

 

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: A wooden staff with three clear spheres, one in the middle and two at the end. Also carries three rapiers on his backs to act as initial objects for his orbs to possess.

 

PERSONALITY: Paradox is quite social and friendly. He also has a kind heart, willing to help anyone, even if they are on opposing sides of a fight. This attitude also makes him quite pacifistic, avoiding fights whenever possible.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Paradox was once an ordinary man before getting a shard lodged in his temporal lobe of his brain. The impact made him go unconcious. During this unconciousness, he had what he called 'an awakening' where a being of light and darkness showed him how the world truly was: a dying world corrupted by the 'pieces of Heaven'. When he woke up, he found himself in a completely different world. In this hallucination, he also gained knowledge of the arcane. He studied more of the arcane from all corners of the world, discovering how to make himself live longer and how to create artificial souls, which he named Ex, Why, and Zed. After recieving another message from that strange being of light and darkness, he tasked himself to gather 'pieces' of other beings who have a 'piece of fallen Heaven' for a grand spell that will rebirth the world into a new age.

- CLOTHING: She wears essentially a ragged dark green dress that is especially split so badly around her skirt she can effortlessly do the jump splits, and a pair of equally shoddy brown underpants.

 

 

FACTION / POSITION: Avalon/Recruit

 

POWERS / ABILITIES: She can manipulate sound through laughter. Her manipulation happens in three stages:

Laughter - she goes into laughter that's higher than usual, and is enough to break a few bits of pottery. Also enough to raise barriers to block out certain attacks

Shrieking Laughter - she is shrieking like mad at this point, and can break anything made of clay and damage eardrums. Also enough to not only raise barriers but push people back

Hysterics - she is literally in a mad fit of laughter that is very difficult to stop. Her voice is so high pitched she can cause temporary deafness (lasting for about five minutes) if people stand too close as well as causing anything up to slightly more unstable housing structures to collapse. Also, she can now send sound waves which push enemies backwards even further, giving her allies time to strike.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: A pair of claws

 

PERSONALITY: Many people regard Hyena as loony, insane, eccentric and mentally ill. Hyena is all of those points, except for the last one; in truth, she is actually very clever and smart, but it is incredibly difficult to realise that. She is difficult to get along with, as she consistently breaks into laughter at just about anything; also, she tends to walk on her hands and knees like an actual hyena during peacetimes, and she can roll her eyes simulatenously in different directions. She also uses her more flexible body to semi-wrap herself around people, and she does do a lot of grinning. When she's not grinning or laughing, she pouts.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Hyena was originally an ordinary girl and was the daughter of parents who were part of the Crusaders of Avalon and were very outspoken about their hatred towards the Amethyst Order. One night, when Hyena was fifteen, a member of the Amethyst Order killed her parents and then rapped her. Since the incident, it permanently damaged Hyena who, driven by both her unwanted experience and the fact she was now an outcast from society, ran away the following morning into the surrounding forests. For the next two years she lived in the wild, driving her ferral. However, because of her memories, she stayed sane enough to find the Crusaders of Avalon, and thusly succeeded and joined their ranks.

- CLOTHING: Has a black coat with his faction imprinted in white at the corners. Wears black trousers held by a buckle that blends with a same colored shirt that stops at the wrists. Also wears a jester's mask cut in half.

 

 

FACTION / POSITION: Amethyst Order, Recruit

 

POWERS / ABILITIES: Abel can turn just about any part of his body into a weapon. However, he cannot remove their places and the area is replaced. It takes him about 10 seconds to shift into a weapon and 30 seconds to return, leaving him extremely vunerable. He can interact with ammunition like arrows and turn into a bow, but he cannot make ammunition. Any weapon created cannot exceed his height or weight. He cannot change any area where the vital organs are located (Brain, Heart, Lungs). Although he cannot shift into anything that exceeds his height or/and weight, the only exception is creating a shield that's planted into the ground. He cannot move when the shield is out. Heavy weapons like Claymores and hammers require two of the same part (Two hands, two feet, two legs, etc.).He also has to rest, or else he'll tire out and faint. He can't wake up until the next day.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: He only carries around a sack full of survival needs.

 

PERSONALITY: Even though with the gift of bloodshed, he doesn't believe that he has to kill everything. He feels terrible for getting dragged into a war that's being fought because of some stupid senate. He wishes that the Senate would finally see their own reflection and stop. Overall, he'd rather have peace then war, but a peace without the Senate is worth a war.

 

BIOGRAPHY: It all started during a childhood accident when he was 3. He got caught in a massacre involving everyone related to him except himself dead. The young child cried over every corpse, taking each part of all of the bodies blood. The next day, the body accepted each of the samples and fused with his blood. He was taken into another family who he thought was his own. When he was 8 years old, he accidentally killed an annoying man that kept insulting him saying, "You'll never hold a sword!" The young Abel ran into the woods looking at his abominated hand. The constables came too late and saw the blood tracks into the woods. After 2 years living in the woods, he returned to the town with a heavy heart. He tried out and found the limitations to his new powers during his stay. He lived in a chapel until the war began, finding refuge underground. That's where he joined the Amethyst Order then on.
