It's beaten Dark Knight in sales now. While visually, this is utter sex, The story and characters are completely lacking. I give Cameron props for creating such a detailed world- and if you look into the expanded universe, it is quite detailed- but the movie as whole could only be described as "enjoyable" to "quite good". I don't buy into that "best movie ever" thing. I'd rather rewatch TDK.

My prediction: spin-off franchises the likes we haven't seen since Star Wars.

with most sequels they tend to suck compared to the original film

Dark Knight was obviously among the exceptions' date=' but I'm unsure how it'll work for Avatar.

Making the battle on a bigger scale like at the end of the film won't be so creative, after all

It depends on the series. With things like Batman, Spiderman, etc. they usually work well because it's more of a new film rather than a continuation.

We'll see how Avatar works out.

(inb4; List of highest-grossing films in 2014:

1st: Avatar 2

2nd: Avatar

3rd: The Dark Knight 2

4th: Titanic

5th: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King)

back to Avatar' date=' they're going to have a LOT more computer generating to do in the sequel.

Well yeah, because now that it's out other companies will rip on the idea, getting rid of the only thing Avatar is really original for. Knowing James Cameron though, he'll easily pull it off and make the film seem 'oh-so-special' as he did with the first. Unique special effects are always useful in the film department.

I have yet to hear any news on the Dark Knight sequel

And did they say when the sequel's filming for Avatar will start?

Same' date=' I look forward to see if the Joker has been cut or not.

And they haven't, James Cameron has only said that a sequel is a possibility.

When a movie makes this much money, there's damn gonna be a sequel.

I'm pretty sure the only reason there wasn't a sequel to "Titanic", is because Jack died and Rose was like 1004 when the movie ended.
