Oki let a snarl escape from his wolf-like muzzle as he noticed that he'd been spied by the partner of the large, metal demon- this one was cloaked in green and seemed to handle a sword. Oki knew the advantage they held with two against two, but hopefully, they would mistake him for a regular Wolf and be taken by surprise if it became necessary for him to return to his human shape.

Not willing to allow them a chance to think about his presence, Oki focused all his skill into his legs, moving quick enough to elude the eye with a pounced fueled by his many years of training, lupine reflexes and the additional power granted him by the Sacred Blade he wore on his back. When he stopped in mid air, he quickly flicked Kutone from its holster with a mixture of complex movements learned over the years to manipulate a blade even while a quadruped, stabbing the long Sacred Blade downward at the green enemy and keeping a cautious eye on the larger demon. He knew from experience that a smaller demon was often the quicker and more immediately dangerous of a pair, and should be focused on before dedicating attention towards the slower and often more difficult to destroy larger Demon.

OoC: The irony is palpable.

IC:

What the — ?! What kind of wolf holds a sword?!

Link backflipped just in time to avoid the bizarre wolf's lightning attack, drawing his sword and shield in the process. He decided to hold shield-first; though its blade was huge, a wolf really couldn't generate too much leverage, so as long as he monitored his opponent's angle, he should be able to deflect most of his opponent's strokes.

If the wolf decided to stop wielding, the shield might be his only defense. Wolfos, at least, were quick, powerful opponents who could only be defeated by rapid dodges and parries. In the bizarre Smash Bros. world, those opponents only became more terrifying, since they didn't fall too quickly. Factoring in the wolf's comparatively smaller size, lower profile, and even higher agility, this opponent would certainly be no weaker.

Out of the corner of his eye, Link noted that Evangelion had also parried. It had produced a large, rectangular, box-like device with a short nozzle, which it aimed at the wolf. Link instinctively rolled away when a large, fast-moving projectile shot out of Evangelion's device. Realizing his mistake, he tried to recover into a spinning cut that was best described as a localized parry attack.

((Not even mentioning that Oki and Link were originally based off the same Shinto Myth.))

Oki let the barest of growls emit from his throat before he once again super-charged his limbs to allow him to move at ridiculously high speeds out of the way of the larger Demon's attack, internally thanking that his training with with the Bucket Namahage around Wep'Keer had imbued within him the wisdom to move as soon as a large-ended barrel was aimed towards him.

He landed, quickly twisting in the air to land behind and out of range of the mechanical demon, and dashed once more towards the green-clad enemy. Logically, he seemed similar to the common Blade Namahage that had been a nuisance among Kamui since eras long forgotten, and even with a shield born by the green creature, Oki still kept to his tried wisdom in fighting sword-armed enemies; Press them into blocking with their own weapon instead of parrying or striking, then disarm or destroy their blade before delivering the final attack.

Luckily, the enemy was evidently unused to battle with the Oina Tribe, which he intended to use to his advantage. The enemy was adopting a stance more typical to fighting a regular wolf; a defensive posture, evidently expecting him to unleash a flurry of quick and agile techniques, rather than the glacier-crushing power maneuvers the Oina Clan were renown for.

Oki hopped quickly to the side to force his enemy to reorient his defense, jumped backwards a little, then gave a roar as he let the inner ferocity of the wolf take over, Kutone and his own body glowing brightly as he ripped forward an an accelerated speed, the sword firmly lodged in his jaws until the end of a stroke, wherein it was quickly replaced and returned to the other side of his mouth within a couple seconds, his claws simultaneously lashing out to catch his opponent.

OoC: Well, that's what I meant. A jaded skeptic and a relative fanatic are already battling, despite their common origins; it's basically Shinji versus Simon with a different starting point. Just goes to show what general crap can do to a person.

IC:

Ow. Eleven percent. He had not seen that coming.

In retrospect, it seemed that the only logical application of the blade the wolf wielded was to try and crush the enemy's defenses with a select few brutal attacks. Oh, well. Hindsight was always 20/20. He didn't intend to be KO'd so easily.

It was then that Link confirmed his formerly dubious advantage.

He'd never seen his opponent before, so the Master Hand must have brought it to the multiverse recently. He'd either be up against a new enemy or a new competitor. The brutal, quick move it had unleashed led the hero to a grim conclusion — it, like his demonic ally, was alien to Master Hand's and Tabuu's twisted universe and its warped physics.

He decided to take advantage of his knowledge and roll straight through his opponent, exploiting an invulnerability clause clarified by the Hand early in the second tournament. His opponent's shock and firm grip on its blade combined would, hopefully, impede it enough that it wouldn't be able to get away from a quick attack. He'd use a quick double-slash followed by a slightly stronger jab — three basic attacks, nothing special, but fast and fairly damaging. The move had been a staple against such quick foes as Fox and especially Sonic; if he was lucky, it wouldn't let him down now.

Evangelion had been maneuvering in the short time the swordsman and the wolf had used to square off; it now loomed behind the wolf, giving it few methods of escape. Link struck.

Oki's eyes dilated as he saw his foe roll towards him and DISAPPEAR.

That was the only logical conclusion he could come to; He had been preparing to sever the being from stomach to spine with another mighty lash from Kutone, only for the strange being to execute a roll towards him that seemed to have been suicidally in the path of his weapon, but in all actuality, allowed him the ability to escape.

Oki then had to come to terms with the downfall of his beastlike triple-strike maneuver; While the ferocity and power generated could slay many a beast, it was not an easy technique to stop mid-way.

Oki attempted to turn and growled as he felt two quick swipes of a blade dig into his pelt, followed by a sharp attack into his side. Feeling distinctly uncomfortable in such close-quarters and at an awkward angle in the middle of combat, he took a half step backward while calling on the powers of Kamui to aid him through Kutone; he raised the sword up briefly as a massive pointed Icicle, nearly as large as he is, formed above his nose and slammed into the ground towards the green demon a couple seconds later, unfortunately enough of a delay that allowed most to avoid it, but still not enough that they could counter attack him without becoming impaled.

Cleverly, the wolf had elected to use a wide-area attack. Link would have to remember that it had that power. Fortunately, this cemented its unfamiliarity with the Smash Bros. system; no mere enemy would have such a diverse moveset. The wolf also seemed to learn from its mistakes. After having taken damage at close range, it was unwilling to allow him the opportunity to counterattack so quickly again.

Evangelion's size would come in handy. Its speed, Link now knew, was deceptively high.

The purple monster seemed to be taking tactical advice from Ganondorf; not that this was a bad thing, of course. Shortly after it dodged out of the ice attack's range — a bit shorter, given that it had been directed towards Link — it outright lunged at its lupine nemesis, looking more demonic than ever as it bared its teeth and flexed its claws. Link would have to ask Samus if he knew of any robots that were quite so... bestial.

Unfortunately, Link could easily predict what would happen if the move missed — and the surprise attack from earlier was still fresh in his mind. He tensed himself, ready to dash forward and slash at his opponent should it elude the demon's grip.

Judging by the look in his foe's eyes, that was a very likely scenario.

Oki felt the larger demon leap at him from behind and growled, feeling somewhat boxed in by the two opposing creatures. The one in green was deceptively cunning for a demon, unlike most Oni whose' basic instincts generally ruled over their primitive fighting styles, even the Blade Nahamage and their signature leaf-spaded shortspears, so Oki couldn't rely that he would be inactive while he avoided the attack from the larger.

That said, taking an assault from the other was something he didn't want to do either.

Focusing his power once more into his legs, he disappeared into a blur of speed, reappearing on an angle from the robotic beast and swinging Kutone three times in quick succession.
