Dark Mousy
I'm going to dive right in. [spoiler=Disclaimer]I do not support any actions depicted in the following Fan-Fic. Yes I have edited parts of history to *simplify* the story. [spoiler=Introduction:]Mec Engim, in the Armenian language means the Great Calamity. In Turkish, it's not much different, Ermeni Soykirimi. The Ottoman Empire had once stretched from Morocco, to Iraq, the fertile crescent, the Caucasus, Greece, Austria. In fact, no nation in the European, Asian, and African worlds did not fear the Ottoman Empire. Of course, things must come to an end. The once great Muslim empire had began to fall apart. Starting from the late 1700s into the 1800s, the empire was too stretched, and massive corruption had begun. Nationalist entities began to spring, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya openly revolted. Meanwhile, the empire had fell behind in technology. Turkey lost Serbia, Greece, and among others. Should we blame the Europeans for the great Calamity? The answer was maybe. Unlike the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide was not putting Armenians as a scapegoat for their own failure. The emergence of an Armenian nation would mean the collapse of the Turkish empire, as Armenia had controlled a vast majority of Turkish supply routes to Arabia. What would you feel? What would you think? Genocide is double sided. It almost always is. [spoiler=Prologue]Emre Kerigan is a regular 16 year boy, living in the Ottoman Empire in 1914. The “Sick Man of Europe” was his country; he learned how to live with it. He was a tall, albeit a bit skinny, as most Turkish were. The face of the Empire was changing, after the Young Turk Revolution, which he had taken part of. The empire had effectively become a Constitutional Monarchy. Of course all of this was to change. *The Train Whistles* “All aboard to Sarajevo! All aboard!” roared the conductor. Emre’s family had been relatively wealthy. He was headed to Serbia, as perhaps the first leg of his European tour. Sarajevo was a beautiful city; he had read it in books, along the Blue Danube River. The train ride was not incredibly long. A little over 6 hours, from Istanbul to Sarajevo. Emre’s blonde hair blew against the wind, he had kept it long… Of course, before going to the hotel, went by the river and felt the smooth waves of the Danube. Europe was beautiful, beautiful indeed. Ironically, it takes relatively little to send it burning in flames. Little known to Emre, malicious intent lurked, in Sarajevo, there was the Black Hand Society, a society that will engulf Europe in flames.
