Graphics.

Graphics DO mean something and are a big part of the game. However, they are not the WHOLE game, Gameplay is a lot more important. I could write a whole paragraph- hell, maybe even a whole essay on this but I won't. I hate everyone who says Graphics are what makes the game and if a game has sub-par graphics it sucks. That simply isn't how the gaming world works.

As for the Wii, it isn't really the graphics that turn me off it (though, admittedly since the release of the 360 I've expected those level of graphics on games), but the gameplay. I hate playing with a Nunchuck and Wiimote, and the majority of Wii games don't offer you a choice but that. They should've stuck with what the GameCube had and brought it up to what the 360/PS3 have. That way they'd have the graphics, the amazing gameplay that Nintendo always delivers and the exclusive titles. Anyone disagree on this?

Anyway, this whole post (and more then likely this whole thread) is opinionated, so no-one is right. Anyone that comes into this thread and tries to debate how they are right in saying a certain thing about graphics is an idiot. It's a matter of preference.

But that's sorta cuz I don't mind the Wiimote/Nunchuck.

I'm gonna put my one cent on graphics. If the game is trying to be atmospheric or trying to tell a story. Good graphics become important, but if it reaches a point that the graphics effect the quality of the actual story/gameplay than drop it. I rather have good story/gameplay.

If it's going for gameplay, graphics don't mean crap as long as it doesn't start interfering with gameplay. (lol the graphics don't match the invisible wall I keep crashing everywhere, lol I can't distinguish anything I have no idea where to go)

Anyone who thinks graphics matter need to play the original Pokemon or some other old game like Mario Golf for the original Game Boy or something of the sort. They have really bad graphics but they are amazing games.

Actually, for the time they were good. :P I still enjoy the simplicity, actually.

To me, as long as it does not interfere with my gameplay, graphics do not mean anything to me. However, if it interferes with my ability to see the game, then that is where it matters. But games that aim only for being as realistic as possible are dead to me.

Nintendo played it smart. If they made an HD console which was a gamble then no one would have bough a gaming console as the PS3 was 600$ and the 360 wasn't that much cheaper anyway. They needed to make something that wouldn't turn off an average person who isn't a gaming geek or cares about specs.

How much was a 360 at the time the PS3 and Wii came out?

I think $400.

I agree. what makes a game is the gameplay. Graphics only make games look nice. And to me we have reached a point when graphics really don't matter, cause even the Wii's graphics are at about the same level as the PS2 and those were great. Hell, the fact that the Wii doesn't have as much power as the other two has caused developers to take different takes on how games look. Muramasa is a great example.

I do disagree when you said the Wii has bad controls. While I would perfer using the Gamecube's controller the Wii's aren't bad. In fact you often get use to them after an hour or so of playing.
